Tool Audio Files

If you're a music enthusiast, you will be glad to know that people have created MIDI renderings of various Tool songs. Songs are downloadable here via four different methods; all will sound the same once you run them. The formats are explained a little below. Happy listening; though I must admit, I'm not sure what you might use them for.

MIDI

To play these, you need an application capable of playing MIDI files. Apple's MoviePlayer does the job, among others. If you have installed into your browser either the LiveAudio or QuickTime Plugin, you're all set; selecting a MIDI should automatically open a control window playing the file.

This will let you play the song from the beginning only, and will not download it to your hard drive. Once you leave this page, the music will keep playing in another window.

If you can't get these to play from right here, or if you want to download these files, they are also available compressed. (You will need a utility to unBinHex files with -- see below). Selecting one of these will download a ".mid" file to your computer which you can open using a music or QuickTime application.

QuickTime Audio from MIDI

The MIDI files have also been converted into QuickTime Audio. If your browser has Apple's QuickTime Plugin installed, you can play these using the control bars below (if you can see them, you've already loaded the files). If you can't see them, you can just download these files.

This will let you play the song from beginning to end, backwards, at various speeds (try option- or control-clicking the arrows), and will stop playing once you leave this page. MIDI programs may not recognize these files.
