Basically, most of the suggestions are correct, but you're all overlooking a few minor details... The biggest mistake being made is the first beat of the first bar. The 3rd and 4th fingers are hammered on just after striking the chord - this makes the first chord kind of a D major with an E in the bass (Dmaj/E). It then quickly resolves itself to the lush sounding E major chord. Incidentally, the high E string is played throughout - if the note of E is in the chordal triad somewhere (like when your pointer finger is at the second fret 4th string (E), or at the 7th fret 4th string (A)), then play the open string. This will make the chord sound a bit more "twelve-stringish." Intro... |-0-----0---0----- |-3-5---5---5----- |-2-4---4---4----- ...etc... you get the picture. |-2-----2---2----- |----------------- |----------------- The other main prob that I've picked up (but it might have been corrected somewhere else - I haven't had a good look at the last attempt) is the arpeggios at the end of the 2nd bar of the 1st verse (got it?). This is all in D tuning, and the start's pretty easy to work out, but then you get those weird arpeggios just before the next bar. What's actually happenin' here is when the notes are going UP, it's an E chord (4th, 5th and 6th strings barred at 2nd fret), but when the notes are coming DOWN, it's an F (4th, 5th and 6th strings barred at 3rd fret). If I haven't made myself perfectly clear (very common), just mail me, I don't want to bore all the members of the group again. Well, that's my lot. Anyone know when Tool are coming back to Australia? They rocked the place back in april... Cheerio! Professor Nutbutter alias Matt Steadman matts@mpx.com.au ------------------------------ End of TOOL-LIST Digest 376 ***************************
