But make sure I can -> mail order it from Australia... :) This may be dissappointing, but as it turns out, a friend of hers that's heavily into graphic arts (and apparently Tool) MADE it. I've never met him, but I wouldn't mind. I assume he made it from the cover art directly, but have no clue how to do that dort of thing. On another poster note, I have a poster/plaque kind thing that was originally a promo type device for Undertow. It's about 40 cm wide and about a metre high. It's mounted on 1 cm thick board (particle board I think). It has a narrow red line across the top and bottom, thne the TOOL logo along the top, then the red "ribcage" symblo, then black for a whole bunch (over half) then has the pig with the shaved "Undertow" at the bottom. It has a VERY TINY Zoo Entertainment logo in the bottom left corner. A friend of mine in Vancouver got one as a prize at the CD release party for Undertow, and I scored mine through a friend here in Calgary. He got it from the University radio station, and I saw it in his CLOSET, collecting dust, and harassed him until he gave it to me. Anyone out there ever heard of this particular Poster/plaque? Or anyone know of any other Tool posters? I've never seen any except for the two I just mentioned.... --- Systems Origin ---------------------------------------------------- Logical Solutions. First- >STP is *not* a good band. This you can tell from listening to >Core...their lyrics are really confusing and the music is pretty simple. >But >I liked it a lot, because they were new, cool, and nobody had heard of them. The way you wrote this it sounds like you were only into them because they were new and you wanted to be cool and then stopped listening to them because you feared being labeled as a clone. I admit that maybe their music may be simple but atleast they vary the tunes (which is fairly rare on any bands first album). Also you say that there lyrics are confusing but is only if you try and figure out what they're singing about, if you just sit back and relax you can really appreciate how good they are. I also think that Scott Weiland's voice suits the music perfectly. and they manage to achieve a mood in there music through his voice. (i can't quite figure out exactly what it is though) Second- > So it sucked by virtue of the fact that it was not better than Core. You said this about Purple. I think that Purple is just as good as Core, maybe even better because they have gone out and made a change from their first album. They could have made a better album musically if they stuck to there old style but it wouldn't have been as popular with us lovers of fine music (you me and everybody else on the TooL list who is into STP). Third- >but then when vasoline came out, and I saw the hand-written lyric sheets, I was >like, shit, they are pearl jam posers. There lyrics sheets may look like Pearl Jam's lyric sheets but there music is completely original. (thats what i think and obviously you do not) In conclusion STP kick butt (not as much as TooL though) They are not Pearl Jam wanna be's and STP kick butt. P.S don't take my first statement too personaly because i can only comment on what i read and to me that's what it sounds like happened:-) P.P.S I have never met you so obviously that statement about you only liking STP to be cool is most likely not true. And lets face it you listen to TooL and we all know what kind of a person you must be (just like me and everybody else on this list) P.P.P.S I hope you read this because it took me about 45 minutes to writre this out. and ha ha i just thought i would get you back for witing such a long posting. I hope i get the chance to have another discussoin with you like this again:-) Oh yes i am awaiting you reply Top Cat ------------------------------ Topic No. 5 Date: Fri, 28 Jul 1995 20:14:19 From: john.gates@bbs.logicnet.com (John Gates) To: tool-list@visix.com Subject: Re: Quotes / Tongue Pierc Message-ID: <131532.950728.201419@bbs.logicnet.com> -> Hey, how many aussies on this list? I think that pictures of fat chicks inside the album cover turns people off... i mean, it may make my dick wilt but I don't go to tool for that. I think that people can't appreciate calling a bass a "bottom feeder" with the obvious dual meaning. I think that people fail to realize that Tool makes more time signature changes than Rush and Dream Theater. I think that people don't give a band respect for producing their own videos... I think that people don't notice that every note, drum hit, and syllable in a tool song is executed with precision. I mean, I really don't know why people like the bands that they do...and they look at tool and think "oh, just a bunch of metalheads with no talent playing as loud as they can." Right, right.
