I wonder how many more "Re"'s I can fit on that subject line?!? >three? i think your maths is off.. i count at least FIVE (less poor Nathan > who had his uni account disintegrated) Yeah.. sorry. I get the list in digest format, so this was a reply to list 396. Any other Aussie's on the list? If we have 6, we can start a petition....! >a TOOL tour would be GREAT, but i'd settle for an album before the end of the >year ;> Right, here's my plan. They fly in to Melbourne at 9:00am. I live about an hour away, so it'll be 10:00 before they get here. Then, they set up (45 mins) and play for...ooooo....about 4 hours. Once that's over, we set up a few more mics, and they start recording. They stop recording around 8:00pm, when everyone else turns up to see them. Then, they play the night away, and it all starts again the next morning. There! A tour (in my loungeroom), an album, and a fuckin' great night out, all in one! I'll send free tickets to anyone who wants 'em! (although help with the booking fee would help. Failing that, any alcohol to make the night even better would be greatly appreciated.) Heh! Forgive my self indulgence. Kabir! Wondered where you'd got to! Where are all the other old regulars? Still there? Byeeee! (I'm in a weird mood tonight. I'll return to my usual self next week!) ------- Professor Nutbutter -------- "Hey kids, ya like that rock & roll?" -- msteadmn@landsend.apana.org.au -- -------- matts@mpx.com.au ---------- ------------------------------ Topic No. 2 Date: Sun, 13 Aug 1995 01:18:42 -0400 From: Toolophile@aol.com To: tool-list@porsche.visix.com Subject: Iowa City?!? Message-ID: <950813011841_73147414@aol.com> Oh, too cool. Brian Wood (of Iowa City which is 20 miles away from Mt. Vernon where I go to school) said: >I don't think it makes me any less of a man by the fact that I >listen to Soul Asylum or Matthew Sweet than if all I listened >to was Clutch and Biohazzard and other shit. On the Contrary, I think it makes you more of a man. I think limiting yourself in any way (especially musically) is bad. My tastes go from Tool (which I find truly inspiring and made me even learn guitar) to Loreena McKinnit to classical to Failure to all sorts of other music I would have scoffed at a mere 3 years ago (like Joni Mitchell, but after Maynard's suggestion, I've found myself appreciating her). Whoever made that decision should be congratulated. First, we got them all to ourselves. Second, you could actually get close to the stage. and babes is good too. jen said: >if people make decisions based entirely on other people's > opinions, they are going to miss out sooner or later. right after she gives us her opinion to influence us. :) As for my feelings on Silverchair? I've only heard the single (which has been re-recorded several times) and read a couple of interviews. From what I saw, they aren't anything hot. But since they are so young, they will no doubt improve. rollinsmansaid: >The main reason I asked about Maynard possibly being HIV+ is >because someone on aol told me that TOOL's manager was >interviewed on MTV and was quoted as saying, "....they will be >finishing up one more album and one more tour before Maynard >gets too weak to sing anymore." who on aol told you this? I'm thinking this ain't the truth. I mean, for one thing, there's no way to tell how long someone will last when they are hiv+. One of my friends lasted 8 years, while his brother only lasted 8 months. Anyway, it just seems too set up to be real. >Has anyone seen Danny Carey playing live with Pigface yet? No, but I'd love to. There's a new pigface album coming out soon. Sarah who is not Sarah said: >I'm here on this here list and I'm new so be gentle. heh. four degrees, now. steve said: >I think I am going to like this list. nope. everybody hates it. join the club. :) sarah said: >I haven't heard of tool show for about 2 years around here (S.F.) Well, it's not exactly close, but I heard they play L.A. a lot and that since they play so much they don't always sell out there. Road Trip time? And I think there was something else I was wanting to mention but forgot. fuck me. Oh, I remember. Someone asked if, because of 4 degrees, Maynard may be gay. Since the point of reference is a vagina (the anus is 4 degrees warmer than the pussy), I'd tend to think not. But then Danielle will put me in my place for that. :) bye, todd ------------------------------ Topic No. 3 Date: Sat, 12 Aug 1995 23:16:54 -0700 (PDT) From: "T. Tool and rad sports seem to go perfect together. This reminds me, a friend of mine works at a company that makes snowboards here in Seattle, and he said that last year some time Tool Merchandising sent them a bunch of Tool stuff. Hats, stickers, shirts, I believe, the usual 'image ships'. So there is definitely interest in the promotion dept of Tool to hit the 'wing culture'. I tried jerking-off to 'jerk-off' and it didn't work. I tried so hard I poked myself in the thumb. drew blood. I have a naughty needle dick. I'll have to get rid of that thing one of these days. I wish I had a big fatty like that REMO guy. Oh boy. . . I can feel the T-3 backbones getting hot and sweaty already. WHAT HAVE I DONE! This is the guy who's gonna kick Rollins' ass! I'll hide. yeah yeah. I'll just hide. I can run and I can hide. So when the fuck is Mister Keenan going to send us another little 'note' from the--batcave equivalent--toolshed? Naw, fuck that! When is he going to send ME a little note? I AM FANBOY! I DESERVE A LITTLE NOTE! So yeah, Maynard, drop your old pal a note. I know you must lurk on here. If I was the lead singer of a bitchin' band like Tool that spawned a layer of tissue on this planetary nervous system. . . you bet your ass I'd be watchin' what all the kiddies were saying about me and the boys. And I swear by the spear of Odin I will never let anyone know you dropped me a line. In fact I'll LIE and once a month or so, I'll just bark on line how you STILL haven't sent me a note. It'll all work out fine and we will develop a burgeoning life-long friendship and occasionally drink 40's of Mickey's together at the Incredible One when we're in town and talk about the sweeter things in life. Naw FUCKIT! Cygnus! Take me out to Cygnus and we'll trash the place. Don't you rock fuckers have insurance for stuff like that? I say we get loaded up at Cygnus during peak lunch hours for those miserable GR millionairs, order a couple dozen Coconut Creme Pies, and when were good and liquer'd up we start flingin' em. Don't worry about security, I'll kick their asses. Needle dicks, like myself, can punch hard cuz we're so bitter. Or maybe we'll just have a nice quiet time. Sip a little coffee at The Red Lion (That's "Le Leon Rouge" to you), have a couple laughs, and then move on down that short and wacky road again to see where it may take us. You on your silver paved rollercoaster with free-form tracks, me on my dusty garden hopper trail with thickets aplenty and many a flower too. Whatever, Tim PS I'll never do this again. It was worth a shot. Once. ------------------------------ End of TOOL-LIST Digest 398 ***************************
