Hey Kabir,

That was the first time I saw tool. I liked it very much. The band that
opened, "ZOM", I think it was, with guitars by Paul D'Amor was actually
pretty terrible. Paul's guitar playing was anonymous at best, and their
singer was really untalented. The rest of the band mixed in with the
woodwork, and the whole opening set seemed like a bad fright band at a
VFW haunted house on halloween.

Tool, however, was incredible. They played a half and half set -- a new
song, then one from untertow, etc, and encored with OPIATE. The new
stuff is heartbreaking, cathartic. I can't wait for the album. I drove
over a hundred miles to see them in Bakersfield (Ventura was sold out).
It was in an old movie theatre, and they played for a bunch of drunken
rural high school students. I wonder if they chose these small
town venues because they are like the towns where Maynard lived and where
nobody ever bothered to tour.
