This show was amazing... the first one i went to was on September 8th in Indiana. it was awesome as hell...both were indescribable...i still can't find exact words to describe how much Tool opens my mind and causes me to reach this incredible high when i see them live. they are just unimaginably brilliant. i would love to see them an infinite amount of times more... Tool is an incredible band.

Hello one and all. This was once again, a great show. It was nice to hear the band play the Salival version of Pushit; really set the evening. By playing Opiate, near the end of the show, appeased my craving for some older Tool. This was my second show in as many months, and I could actually sit back and ENJOY the music and not be concerned with the eye candy. If anyone is in the Louisville area and wants to get together and play some "Tool" sounding music, get with me. I could use a drummer and a bassist, or my meager guitar/vocal abilities can join your band. Its just music.........lets get together and create! As for those who haven't had the chance to see the show; If you know someone who has tickets, fucking murder them and go see Tool........Life in prison is worth the price of admission. Finally to Racheal, thanks for the affection! JACK

TOOL SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN READING THESE REVIEWS, AND RESPONDING TO THE COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP IN THEM, SUCH AS MOSHING. THERE WAS NO "FESTIVAL" SEATING, THERE WERE FOLDING CHAIRS ON THE FLOOR. AT THE BANDS REQUEST, ALCOHOL WAS NOT SERVED IN THE VENUE. THAT MEANT NO DRUNKEN FRAT GUYS SCREAMIN' "PLAY SOBER!" THE AUDIENCE AS A WHOLE, SEEMED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE BAND'S SKILL AND PRAISE IT. UNLIKE OTHER SHOW'S I'VE BEEN TO WHERE NO ONE GIVES A DAMN. I FINALLY GOT TO HEAR THE SALIVAL VERSION OF PUSHIT. IT KICKED ASS. DURING OPIATE, MAYNARD BEGAN TO CHANT "THINK FOR YOURSELF, QUESTION AUTHORITY..." THIS IS THE REAL SETLIST: GRUDGE (-) IONS STINKFIST (NEW LYRICS) 46&2 PUSHIT (SALIVAL) SCHISM PARABOLA DISPOSITION REFLECTION -INTERMISSION- TRIAD PATIENT OPIATE LATERALUS SOME INSTRUMENTAL SETS ARE IN THERE TOO SOMEWHERE. MAYNARD SEEMES TO BE IN THE LIGHT MORE, LESS LIKE A SHADOW THAN BEFORE. HIS MOVEMENTS WERE ALSO IMPROVED SCINCE I LAST SAW THEM IN COLOMBUS. HE ONLY SPOKE OF TURNING FEELINGS INTO SOMETHING POSITIVE, NOTHING NEW. TRICKY WAS GOOD, BUT I WAS TOO INTO THE TOOL MODE TO CARE. GOOD SHIT. NICK

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. Tool is by far the most inspiring band ever. I hate to admit that some people who sat in my immediate area were frankly, Fuckin Rude, but I looked past it all. That out of the way, the opening band Tricky was very promising. His music was a first for me and I liked it, even though many others didn't seem to think so. I was glad no one was too rude and disrespectful to his band. The vocals could be better, but all was more than fitting for an opening band; totally worth listening to. With some time and patience, Tool finally came on and did they come on strong! With a fading hiss of 'mantra' they exploded into 'the grudge' flawlessly. Danny really impressed me with his drumming skill, almost as if it were his nature to do such without effort. Both Adam and Justin were on key and showed lightning fast guitar playing almost as effortlessly as Danny. Maynard was in a magical frame of mind and sang his so well thought out lyrics with all the energy he could muster. The two people hanging from the ceiling were Great! I couln't even think as to how they were able to do the things they did. I couldn't understand the other people's disgust for them, but I thought it to be art. All in all, the most inspiring show I have ever been too, almost too good to be called a 'show', but more like a 'ritual'. I loved every minute of it, Thanks Tool.

Well, well, well, looks like the mullets and the goth kids made a pretty good turnout in good ol' Kantuck. This was in fact the second time I have seen Tool this tour (Would have been three if the Dayton show wasn't cancelled) and I have to say...A completely riveting experience. The fact that they played "Opiate" gave me room to bring shame upon my friend whom attended the Columbus show with your's truly and said "...was the best concert I have ever been to," As well as complaining that "Opiate" was not played. And where was he tonight? Working at Sunglass Hut because he didn't think to ask off. I pleaded with him but reasoning of the most perfessional level was on his side and I only stood with the promise of another night with the four best pinnacles of musicianship. Danny, Justin, Adam, Maynard...Thank You.

Alright the set list in order was The grudge - (ions) Stinkfist (with extended jam in the middle) 46+2 A very short Parbol Parabola Pushit Schism w/ossyeus labrynt An instrumental jam Disposition Reflection and intermission (ossyeus again) Triad Mantra Patient Opiate Lateralus First off the one thing that you can always expect from a tool show is a great sound. Whoever runs their P.A. is doing an excellent job. The sound is just incredibly crisp and you can tell everything that is going on. Second of all the light show is incredible. And the videos that they play during the background of certain songs are very cool if you are going to see a tool show on this tour watch for the video's they play during 46+2, The grudge, and reflection as these are probably the best. Also if you still can't quite figure out what the meaning of 46+2 is, the video they play during that song sheds some light the band came on without saying a word. maynard was wearing some sort of leather costume thing with a lone ranger mask although he was basically in just underwear and mask by the end of the show and lastly Maynard, Danny, Adam, Justin, if you any of you by any chance happen to read this then let me formally apologize for the louisville crowd. I don't know what there problem was but i don't think you could have gotten a response out of them if you had told them osama bin laden was backstage snortin coke. A freight train couldn't have moved those people. Maynard made a comment about the crowds lack of enthusiasm towards the end of the show he said something to the effect of " remember these feelings that you have right now and carry them with you through your experiences, your good experiences, your bad experinces, (turns to the crowd) your INDIFFERENT experiences" Maynard, what a smart ass But seriously i can't complain because i did get to hear the patient and disposition my 2 favorite songs off lat. and stinkfist and 46+2, my 2 favorite songs off aenema. So. if you have a chance to see tool do it because you won't be dissapointed.

Yeah yeah you all know the setlist. Interesting to note that on the earlier leg of this tour w/Meshuggah they played a quasi-salival pushit with the salival intro leading into the album version of pushit but they played the entire salival version at the show. I like the album version more; it just seems to have more raw emotion into it but I like how the salival version accentuates the music more than the lyrics but I'm off on a tangent now. I saw the show in Indy w/Meshuggah which was IMO a better show because of the following differences. 1. No parabol/parabola, just a few chords of parabol before parabola started. Kinda dissapointing as how the parabol/parabola buildup is one of the high points of that album 2. Nothing from Undertow 3. No Aenema 4. The crowd was horrible. You could tell they were almost all new fans when schism got a better response than Stinkfist or Opiate. May be just my eliticism talking here though. Also when they started the extended portion of Stinkfist in Indy the continuation of the "I'll keep digging" lyrics was a LOT louder than it was in Louisville but enough about comparing the two shows. I promised myself I'd not look at any previous tour reviews from this leg to see if there were any surprises and there were a few. Osseus Labyrinth got on stage and did the head bobbing walking thing during Schism which was really really cool and their suspended cable performance was a lot longer than in the previous shows; they played an extended version of triad during the performance. Overall a really good show but not as close to a spiritual awakening as the first, mainly because I had seen all but Opiate live before (but I completely freaked out when they did that) and they left out some of the stuff I liked about the earlier show.

First of all the show ROCKED!!!!!!! I loved it!!! Ears are still ringing! I was dissapointed that they didn't play any songs from undertow, what happened? It was 2 hours of pure brilliant music. The naked people were pretty cool and the movie screens added a cool aspect. Tricky f@@King rocked as well. The lead singer played in the movie "The Fifth Elemnet". You may remember him as the guy who gets blown up in the phone booth? If anybody knows the answer to this question please let me know. WHY WERE THEY NOT SELLING BEER?? When they told me that no beer was going to be sold, i thought they would make us sit down during the show. Can you imagine going to a football game and they wasn't selling beer. SHIT!!!!! The set list, well it is better off you don't know, that way you can be surprised. Because I had looked on this site and saw others postings and i kinda had a feel for the upcoming songs. Don't worry about it any ways, TOOL doesn't have a bad song, HELLO!!!!!! My advise is to smoke 2 or 3 fat joints, or take some LSD or Shrooms. It made the show a lot more enteraining. Tricky you guys are cool!! Love that music, i just wish the security would have let us groove a little more. ONE OTHER THING TO THE SET CREW, MOVE THE FREAKING SPEAKERS. WE COULD NOT SEE MAYNARD FOR THE STUPID SPEAKERS IN THE WAY! TOOL RULES, HOPE YOU COME AROUND AGAIN CAUSE I WILL SELL ONE OF MY NUTS TO GO! PEACE OUT, ZAC

AND I'M TALKING RED NECKED, TOOTH MISSING, SISTER BANGING HICKS. ANYWAY, SINCE I ALREADY BROKE THE RULES (SORRY) I WOULD LIKE TO POSE A QUESTION TO TooL. WITH ALL THEIR REFERENCES TO CIRLCES AND SPIRALS, AND WITH MAYNARD BEING INTO MARTIAL ARTS, I AM CURIOS IF THEY ALL ARE "BA GUA" (ALSO SPELLED PA KUA) MASTERS. ARE THEY MEMBERS OF THE "BA GUA INNER DOOR SOCIETY" IN CHINA? IF SO, I BELIEVE THEY TRUELY KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF THE CIRLE AND ITS CONNECTION TO IMMORTALITY.

Not every show can be the greatest one ever seen. The audience was ready for a good show and was the most attentive and respectful one I've ever seen. Tool started out great but then chose to grind things to a halt with a boring mid-section and intermission (hardly earned). By the time they got the groove back, they were doing "Lateralus" and we all know that's the closer. Not that I can give advice, but while I've got the floor......... lose the freak show contortionists. I paid to see Tool play and sing. I didn't pay to see them and they're not that interesting after five minutes. On the good side, "Stinkfist" was marvelous, as was "Pushit" and "The Patient". The music was tight and the visuals spectacular. A good show and a good audience, but at times, I think the guys were telegraphing the whole thing in from their hotel rooms.

Thank you maynard, danny, adam and justin. Thank you so much for your presence and timely performance. Arriving fashionably late I approached the venue and noticed security was rather lax. I entered and found an usher to escort me to my seat. 11 rows back dead center. What a fucking rush. I'm gazing up and wondering... where are the screens? The intoductory music begins and I lookaround.... no one knows yet..... The lights dim and the Tuvian throat singers are heard. Pure beauty in the way their voices blend with the music. The curtain moves and exposes the screens. I am relieved. As usual the crowd is filled with empty eyes. They chant and hoot and hollar as the band assumes their positions. Maynard comes out fully dressed in leather. His over coat makes him look enormous as he stand on his box. Almost hitler like he begins their set. As each song passes and as each thought drifts to the next he sheds a piece of clothing. Eventually he wears down to his briefs. It seems that on this indoor venue they toned it down way more. The folding chairs were a death trap had they played such songs as Ænima or Prison Sex. The crowd overall was a decent one. Other than being backed by a couple of drunk.... for lack of better words.... retards there were a few people rolling to the side of me and another fella trippin a little down the aisle from me. Really made me feel at home. I knew the set was winding down and then The Patient is played. I was amazed to see maynard put soooo much emotion into such a draining song. The song ends and I was left doubtful as to their next move. Then to hear Opiate's opening chords.... I laughed sooooooo hard. Such a fitting follow up for the crowd at hand... The set concludes and I watch as each of the band members adress the audience. Adam waves and Danny claps... Justin is jumpin around like a little kid... excited as hell. Maynard is.... well... he's maynard. Gotta love that little fucker. They all converge just to the left of the drum set and make for a group hug. I was astounded. I really did feel love when they did that. And like the rest of the drones I made for the exit once the lights came on.... Now I'm hearing they played Third Eye about 15 minutes after we left.... Damn I'm a retard. Oh well.... Once again. Great show guys. Thank you so very much.

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

My first Tool experience is one that I will never forget.... The show started out with the thunderous rhythms of "The Grudge" which was a choice opener. Then they went on to an extended version of "Stinkfist" and "46 & 2". Then they played one of my personal favorites "Pushit". Then.... whats this??! Maynard picks up a guitar! I thought I'd never see the day. They start playing "Shcism" with and extended middle part where the two naked guys (oseeus labrynt) started to perform their.... thing. After that they started to play what sounded like "Merkaba" but only lasted for about 3 minutes, until they started to play the entracing "Disposition" and "Reflection". At the end of Reflection, a lone Adam plays that last riff over and over for about 7 minutes and finally leaves the stage, then osseus labrynt makes another appearance. This time they're hoisting themselves up the front screens, then hanging themselves upside down by the feet. They swing back and forth for a few miutes then the band comes back onstage to play "Triad" (WooHoo!!). Then "Eon Blue Apocolypse" into "The Patient". "Opiate"??!? Holy shit! thats an old song, they surprised everyone when they play that. Then right before the last song, the band stands around Danny's drumkit. I don't know exactly what Maynard said but this pretty much sums it up: "Take your experience tonight, wheather good or bad, and use it later to do something positive." Good words from a great man. The last song, "Lateralus" really closes the show perfectly, with some of the best drumming I've ever heard from Danny Carey. After they were done, they threw their picks, sticks, and one of Danny's drumheads out into the crowd. I wasn't close enough to eve have a chance :-( There was a group hug onstage and that was it..... Man! What a show!!!!

To everyone out there who said maynard was playing a guitar, that was a synthesizer. I was in the second row dead center he wasn't holding a pick or fretting any notes he was just using the knobs. Then after intermission when they played 'Triad' he wasn't playing guitar then either. That was obviously a headless bass when you look at the length of the neck. Synthesizer and bass....that's pretty crazy.

Ahhh, it seems that ignorance is in abundance even at t.d.n. Kabir you do a wonderful thing with this site, it's too bad others don't respect that. Now to the review. It had been a long month since the Columbus show and I was going through live TOOL withdrawl. I left it up to my grilfriend to get the tickets and figured she couldn't mess it up too bad cosidering we waited untill the last minute to purchase them. So what does she do, she goes to an alternate ticket source and gets us third row, front and center. NO ALCOHOL AND NO MOSHING, (from what I could see, but I was up front so...) how great is that. Good fans surrounded us, with the exception of some idiot teenage girls that had won free tickets from a radio station. Acoustics were very, very good in the Freedom Hall arena. They played a very tight set, with the Salival version of Pushit being my favorite of the evening. They extended it probably even two minutes longer than what's on the disc. Opiate came in second, with Maynard adding a few "think for youself, question authority" chants in an extended breakdown. TOOL seems to be slowly turning into a sort of a jam band, and I love it when they extend the slower songs. I also enjoy how it pisses the "Sober" yellers off, let us hope they start staying home. I read someones review and they mentioned Maynard turning to the crowd when he said "indifferent feeling" and he wasn't lying, because the crowd seemed pretty dead most of the night. Great night overall for me personally, except I didn't get home untill 2:30 and had to work today(which is where I'm writing this review) The above setlists seems to vary just a bit from mine so here it is again. I would say that mine is very accurate considering I was thrown one by Adam(it also had a pick taped to it by black electrical tape), plus I got Maynards water botlle(unopened). You know why I got two things, becuase I was the coolest person there. Oh yeah, Louisville IS the redneck capital of the world. Here is the setlist The Grudge ions(-) Stinkfist (extended of course) 46&2 Parabol(very short, maybe five seconds) Parabola Pushit (Salival version, but even longer) Schism (Hanna and Mark) An instrumental jam Disposition Reflection Interlude (Hanna and Mark) Triad Eon Blue Apocolypse The Patient Opiate Lateralus

it was not a typical rock concert last night...having been a tool fan since undertow, this was my first tool arena experience...it was amazing...superb sound...amazing sounds...an experience more than anything else...loved opiate...that made my night...loved when adam stood and played the same guitar progression over and over for seemingly 10 minutes...beautiful that even these talented artists could once in a while lose themselves in the music so much that they almost teeter on losing track...i saw that once...the whole band lurched toward danny during one of his monster drum fills as if trying to guess where he would come back...the crowd was subdued...more in shock and reverence than us being hicks...oh but there were plenty of those...lots of younger fans wanting schism...but judging by the reactions to opiate i know there were plenty of older fans as well...the whole experience was such a breath of fresh air that i've found myself examining my intentions and creativity since i left freedom hall almost 18 hours ago...please don't go to see tool to hop up and down or hoot and holler...go with your eyes and ears open...don't expect a rock concert...just go and listen... having only known of tricky from friends and snippets of songs i was happily surprised to see him with a full band... they were a fantastic opener...lots of neat sounds and moods...giant surprise...very good mix for them as well...go early and catch them...thank you tool...

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Oh my God, its Friday and the show was last night. I'm still in TOOL Euphoria. Other People posting from previous shows saying TOOL sux, they are dumbasses. You havent heard TOOL until you have seen them live. First I'll start off with the set list: Mantra GRUDGE (-) IONS STINKFIST (NEW LYRICS) Extended heavier version (kix ass) 46&2 PARABOLA They played some kind of merkaba fucked up crazy intermission here.......it was weird (also quite the kix ass) Schism (contortionists from the video came out and walked swinging their heads) Pushit (new, with some of the old one mixed in there) DISPOSITION REFLECTION More craziness from TOOL TRIAD THE PATIENT OPIATE LATERALIS Ok this show was absolutely FUCKIN amazing, From the first little break into the Grudge till the very end. Grudge wasnt one of my personal favorites of TOOL but when you see it live ...........oh FUCK, it's powerful. Ions was next going right into Stinkfist. Stinkfist is one of my favorite songs by them and did they ever make it GREAT SHIT, it was extended with some more lyrics in there. You have got to see them. By this time I was completely into it, 46&2 came next and Parabola. After Parabola they played some crazy shit that kixed ass, it sorta sounded like merkaba at first but then they turned it into something completely different. All of the visuals tripped you out, whether you were stoned or straight, They kept me spiraling into TOOL. AMAZING. Maynard was about 20 yards away from me but it felt like with all the energy I was right up next to him.......RIGHT THERE! On into the show I found myself traveling as Schism started and the contortionist came out walking on all 4's and swinging their heads. The girl tangled herself up in some fucked up postion that really rocked ass. Then came Pushit, My favorite song of all time, it was slow but with Danny's drum solo, and everything going on it was very powerful. When he closed the song with the line "Just remember I will always love you, even as I claw your fucking throat away" He screamed it so good, it's undescribable. The lighting to Disposition would just freak a person out, then with Adam on the left side of the stage and Justin on the right side and Danny in the back and Maynard in the middle they broke out into Reflection. Another Great one. After that song Adam played the little end riff to Reflection for like 20 minutes, while they got ready for the next part of the show which is unspeakable. Maynard appeared once again in his black briefs, that's all he had on. This time it was ready for Triad. I seen this song on previous set list but it always confused me cause I didn't know why they would want to play an instrumental but then I found out why......... They redo Triad a little and make it heavier and longer and with the visuals, and most important of all, the contortionist hanging upside down from the feet in front of the 2 big screens acting crazy and weird. It was fuckin breathtaking. After all that and all the comotion they played The Patient which I appreciated very much. But on to the best part of my expierence.......... Next to come was Opiate, this song, this damn song is so awesome live. They played the little 2 second opening bass line........and paused for like 10 seconds and everyone knew what was coming. They broke out into the song.....Jesus it was fuckin energy coming from everywhere. The crowd erupted. In the middle of the song he sung "Think for yourself, Question Authority" and I thought maybe they would go into Third Eye, but they just added a new edition to Opiate, They went right back to the song into the breakdown, and Maynard squatted down and started doing the best God Damn headbanging Ever. He has the moves of all time. And when he screamed the last "Rape You", he held it out for probably 3 times as long as the cd, it brought my expierence to the highest ever. After that song he spoke to us, and said Turn this feeling and all these feelings you have been expierencing tonight into something positive over the next few weeks. And then he went calmly back to his spot and the band started playing Lateralis. Unbelievably good song to end a concert with. I will see them again, and I will turn my feelings of last night into something positive like Maynard said as I have already done. People say they want older stuff and I would of liked to heard some of the older things too, but they shouldn't complain, Maynard and the band play what they want to play and I respect them for that. Look at Opiate, After that song, damn I was so in Euphoria I didn't know what to do with myself. My expierence was by far the greatest time of my life, and when they come again, I will be there to see them. BRAD GRAY

Last night was the best show that i've seen on this tour thus far. as you can see the setlist was wonderful! i was happy to see triad done with osseus labyrint. new videos and a switched up setlist from chicago, indy, and columubus were a definite plus. the coolest part of the evening was afterwards. i was able to meet justin and danny outside by the busses! maynard just boarded the bus after the show which i respect. adam waved 'goodbye' to us from the back window as they were pulling away. one really cool thing was that justin signed my dugout and blazed a little. remember purple markers for danny..we didnt. great night all in all...and i must say that there is a hell of alot of equipment with TOOL...like 5 semi's full. hopefully dayton will be rescheduled so i can see them again...thank you for the positive energy TOOL.

I was VERY pleased to hear TRIAD!!!! That was the one thing most missing in the other show's on this tour that I have been to. The visuals were amazing during triad, and I think I was the only one in my area that knew what they were doing. Unbelievably, the woman next to me FELL ASLEEP!!! WHAT THE FUCK@@@@!! The crowd in general was horrible, I am so glad that I don't live in Louisville or KY for that matter:-) That was disappointing, but Maynard never disappoints!!! even when sitting on the "bad side" I couldn't believe how few were screaming during OPIATE...it was amazing...and the cataract surgery visual was great for me since I work with cataracts. I am just grateful for all of my moments and experiences to see the greatest band alive!

Ok first I would like to say that the show kicked ass. Next I would like to give a big fuck you to everyone that is putting down Louisville. Every person who is saying that Louisville is full of rednecks are full of shit. Yes it does have its share of rednecks just like any other damn town. But how do you know everyone at the show is from Louisville. There are a lot of people who come from other parts of Kentucky or from Nashville or even Indiana. Some of those people are rednecks thank you. So fuck you! I saw plenty of people last night that I know for fact are from Louisville that are not rednecks. If the only thing you are going to do is complain then dont fucking come back again! We all go to a show to enjoy a great band and everyone wants to ruin it by complaining about this or that. This shit is sickening. None of you fucks live in Louisville. If you did you would realize that its a pretty big city. But yeah its fucking surrounded by some redneck counties but there are not many rednecks in Louisville. So fuck every single one of you!

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. just wanted to log on and say that the show was a total package of sight, sound and vibe. the visuals on the screen coupled with the tight sound tool belted out was just amazing. when the labrynt ascended to the top of the screen.. man, they blended in with the graphics that were being projected i almost couldn't tell if they exisited or not. simply put, the show fucking rocked and took me to another level if for only two hours or so loved to see maynard playing the guitar as well. as an already lover of tool this show reinforced exactley why i dig them so much to everyone, encourage all the people you know to check these guys out. i don't think they will be able to compare it to anything else to tool if you ever see this thanks for the memories!

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. Ive been a huge Tool fan ever since Undertow came out in 1994, but this was the first time I have been able to see them live. I was of course blown away. I got tears in my eyes when they opened up with the Grudge. As soon as the grudge's last note sounded, the crowd roared at the top of their lungs until the next song. I knew I was in for an awesome experience from the first note. That song was worth the price of admission alone. Lateralus is the best record tool has made to date. Pushit was also a masterful song. The videos and schism people went along perfectly with the music. I wish they wouldve played parabol with parabola but it was great too. Danny, adam, Justin, and Maynard were so tight it was scary. Danny is the most amazing drummer I have ever seen or heard. How in the hell he keeps up with all those messed up time signatures I'll never know. I would kill to be able to play drums like that. The crowd did lose some energy when tool went into the middle section of the show, but I think the setlist was great. Maynard turned around during his positive/negative speech right when he said Indifferent but they did really slow things down in the middle. No complaints though. Does anyone else know if they played third eye after they left? I took off like everyone else when the house lights came up. Aarrrrghh. I would love to see them again if they ever come back in the area.

yeah it was my first show, but i've been waiting for so long to see them. i have to thank my friend Paul for taking me and my soon to be husband to the show, for our wedding gift, i couldn't have asked for anything better. the show was beautiful, i can't comprehend the words to say how awesome it was. i couldn't have yelled and screamed with any more love and emotion than i did. when they walked out onto stage i started shaking, i looked down to my hands and started laughing, it was odd, and never happened before. personal expereance to myself i suppose. danny was amazing on the drums, it's like he's so perfect with them. adam and justin played beautifuly. maynard sent chills up and down my spine, and i had to hold back tears during "pushit". so yeah, this show moved me like no other. the people hanging on the ropes was awesome, and the assholes yelling "this sucks!" need to wake up and realize what the hell art is. people are rude bastards. all in all, the show was the most unforgetable, emotional moment in my life. This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

Louisville was my first Tool concert since 1997, when the band was participating in Lollapalooza. It's difficult, therefore, due to the time lapse to put a frame around either in terms of making comparisons, so I'll let each stand independently; both concerts were phenomenal. But allow me to offer praise in the form of criticism. Of all the songs belonging to the setlist, the one which translated the worst (I use this term loosely) live was The Grudge, perhaps due its dramatic nature and high production value. Although lyrically The Grudge is ultra-compelling, its composition has always struck me as somewhat "fragmentary," as though cobbled together out of the remnants of several songs since obliterated, following revision. Yet the fact of the band's getting those elements to mesh at all is a testament to each's superb craftsmanship and a living example of the trials undertaken when different egos cooperate, aspiring toward a common goal. Hence, The Grudge makes up in technical mastery what it lacks in cohesion. All in all, it makes for an astounding opener. My general impression of the show was, in the words of another reviewer, that of a "ritual." At several points throughout, it occured to me how each musician performed like a medium, channeling the energies of his patron musical saint. A rich iconography surrounded the band's performance. What these symbols meant and to what ends they were getting employed was, as always, a matter of the audience's interpretation, or lack thereof. The songs are mantras to be sung and cherished with each successive listening. Live, these little snapshots develop, as the moments crystallize, and the audience's verve and the band's presence begin to interpenetrate, weaving a kind of spiritual tapestry, whose fabric is the stuff of beauty The duo of Osseus Labyrinth was an everlasting touch. I was encouraged by the audience's warm response to their performance and the mostly positive attitude of everyone involved. On the other hand, I was dismayed when several members of the audience situated near me groaned because of the long delay, during which Labyrinth prepared to suspend themselves above the stage. In the context of the entire performance, I thought Adam's meditative strumming made for a pleasant refrain, and furthermore, it deepened the mood. I'm reminded of the deliberateness associated with Indian music in the classical vein; some of those songs take an hour or more to develop. In short, listening to music is a dying art form, and today, to an increasing degree fans just want to be entertained. May I apologize to the band on behalf of my fellow audience members and congratulate Maynard, Adam, Danny and Justin on a job well-done. Keep up the hard work fellows. Oh yeah, Kabir rocks!

First off, I'm a Kentuckian, and damn proud of it. I feel I speak for all living in this beautiful state when I say, to anyone calling Louisville the "redneck capital of the world," go crawl back under your fucking rock. You people never give anyone an equal chance, especially with someone having a different accent than your own. While living in Ohio for a year, untold amounts made fun of my accent, or decided I mated with sheep or my sister. So next time, if you don't like us, go see Tool somewhere else. Spare us the demeaning comments. And now, Tool. Although my heart was not fulliy into the show, as it should have normally been, it was still just unbelievable. I will grow to appreciate much more as the weeks go by. My regrets are few; at least one song from Undertow, that is all I wanted. What was played, however, was masterfully done. The brilliance of Danny's drumming took center stage, and Maynard's vocals were just perfection. Grudge was an absolute perfect start to the set, bringing the crowd to attention. Loved the extended version of Forty Six & 2 and the Salival version of Pushit. And Opiate was certainly a welcome surprise! Although becoming more reflective and less attention-getting during the second half, the show still an enlightening process. Visuals were top- notch, joining with the music to create stunning images in everyone's mind. I thank Tool for their show, and I am glad I was able to witness one this tour. Now, nothing to do but wait until the next tour....

I actually went to Albany, but I just really wanted to post this "extradimensional" experience.--I am utterly amazed ... I had heard Fantomas was lousy but I was truly impressed. I wouldn't mind seeing them again; however, if I had a choice of TooL or Fantomas...TOOL, BABY! This show was my first concert as well as my first TooL concert. It didn't seem like the crowd was feeling Fantomas but when TooL came on stage, and everyone stood up, then the whole place went wild. There were people jumping the rail all over the place so my friends and I did as well. Icouldn't go to a concert and not try to get as close as possible to the band! And I am glad I did. It was awesome to just be there and see the teamwork and talent involved in making the music that I listen to everyday in my CD player. I have fullfilled my dream of crowd surfing to TooL. If Maynard is reading this, I was the one with neon yellow hair that the guards pulled off of the front row next to the stage! And if that stranger that picked my up is reading, thanks, man. The only thing I would have liked to hear was a little improvisation. Other than that, Reflectoins and Lateralus were perfect. Thanks for the best natural mind trip ever!

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

This to me wasn't as much of a concert as it was an experience. To me, a concert is drunken fools trying to rush the stage and become part of the entertainment. This was fans of a phenomenal band getting together to experience something they love in real life. Sonically, the show was the best I've heard in a while. I had earplugs but didn't need them; the levels were very even. The visual stimulation added so much to the music. Songs that I had heard a thousand times before suddenly had a different feel. The performances of the two individuals, who's name escapes me, was unbelievable. The performance of the band was what a live show should be; as good as the album with slight deviations to make it interesting. It was hard to believe that four people were responsible for the sonic tapestry coming from the PA. It was inspiring musically and spiritually. Please see them live, it will change your idea of what a rock band is capable of. SIDE NOTE: I don't think the crowd was indifferent as Maynard may or may not have suggested. For instance, I was blown away by the show, but wasn't very loud. I didn't feel like screaming my head off at such beautiful art.
