Some people have been a little inconciderate to TOOL lately. First of all I think we should show a little grattitude to the band who has already gone across this country once this year. People forget sometime that the bandmembers of TOOL are human, not perfect all seeing gods. I for one give priase to TOOL for thier hard work in building such a creation. On top of that they've been going to smaller towns trying to get to the first timers and people who can't always spend the money to get out of town to see thier favorite band. I will let the the lesser man cast the first stone. TOOL gives thier all for you and how do you repay them? I see people bitchin about the setlist like TOOL was only ment to play for them. Please try to understand TOOL is a living, loving, hating, learning, and beathing thing. That my ever so slow friend is over and beyond the rehlm of your understanding at your present stage of evolution. So I hope one day you can face the cold and ugly truth of it all. The world does not revolve arround you and your sence of what is cool and right with the universe. God bless and have a blessed day in the dawn of armageddon. This has been a *Lucidmindfaze* production.

People need to understand we are not dealing with the same Tool we used to know. There old and they cant do some of the songs they used to and make them sound good anymore. Face it there old, deal with it, the sooner you do the sooner you will enjoy the Tool time we have left. Danny and the rest of the guys no longer need to push it to prove anything. THEY LEFT THERE MARK LET THEM ENJOY IT. P.S. never been to a show but have evey song they've done live on cd. T-wit

I think most of you are missing the point of the live Tool experience. There is always someone saying how they don't change the songs enough and there is a strong arguement for that but in the end you'll lose so shut the fuck up. It seems the sole reason you are angry at the setlists is because they played the same songs at the last show. Which stagifies(-) me in its stupidity. It's like people go to a show and after seeing those songs they start to almost look down on them, like "Ok that one's out of the way." You should be celebrating because you were lucky enough to witness a Tool show, instead you’re taking it for granted. “Yeah I saw Parabola live, so what? Everyone else has.” That an ignorant, arrogant way of thinking. I feel that maybe the meaning for some songs is lost, and rather than being replaced by a greater understanding of the music, all most can wonder is "When do i get to see Third Eye live?"

Hey you! OK why does everybody keep saying ohh i wish tool would play this and i wish that tool would play that. UMMM grow up and deal with what you get. There is a reason they play that same setlist. The entire laterlaus record is in the same rhyme scheme and they have progressed. They have evolved from there past. I mean look at how much the music has changed from record to record, it's all about moving through, gaining something from them. Maynard once said that he considerds the shows as a gathering, they are much more of a sacred ceremony like. They are about seeking truth. You should gain something from the experience. I'm sure there was alot of moshing in 96 or whenever but now it's time to reach out and embrace the random and to let the music pass through you and let the words spill through you, and to feel this holy body and holy expreience, and that you choose to be there. You should embrece that moment and remeber what you felt and to do something positve. I feel if you cant do that then you are missing the entire picture. I'm i am just sick of hearing the same old shit about how they sold out. espically from all you one-track minded sheep, In order to understand someting use must see both ends of the spectrm or see all sides you could say, otherwise you become judgemental about something and sound like a jerk-off. so before you go running your mouth, you ought to take the time to think about and understand what you are going to say! Then you might understand that they are 4 guys who do what they do and you must have a sense of humor about things. Thats all i have to say about that CADDYSHACK kg_peter_parker@yahoo.com

i just wanna say i agree tool needs to moveo on and play what they want and not what we want. but wouldn't you think that they would rather play third eye rather than stinkfist? stinkfist is the single that most of the ignorant jackasses in the audience will wanna mosh to cause they've heard it a thousand times. and if i could hear only one song off of aenima, it would be third eye. I know that's kinda biased but i hope some of you die hard fans at least see some of the weird things about the SAME EXACT SETLIST everynight. They should just randomly play any of their old songs instead of revolving around the same 10. maybe they've grown out of the messages of the songs, but there is always the music itself and that should matter more cause it's what ALL of them put into it and not just maynard's insight alone. email if you wanna chat.

I've been waiting a long time to see tool, and it's finally happened. It's everything I thought it would be, and and very grateful for seeing them. maynard started out wearing leather pants and black high boots and a black/leather? shirt. partway through one of the first few songs (stinkfist?) he stopped singing during the end and the music continued as he switched to just wearing his undies. I must say thanks to tool for stopping by this little place to visit. It was most enjoyable...

okay , for all you ignoraneous people out there ........how many of you are musicians who have performed and toured on a number of different albums .......first of all ...say you have an album ........you tour for months ....playing the SAME songs over and over every night ......eventually you get bored with it .....the songs have been played and you just want something new to give you your high ........ as musicians you feel that the songs are played out...........now relate this to tool .......they've toured on undertow and aenima for years .......how many times do you think they've played these songs night after night .......so what if you want to hear these songs .......its their music . they' deserve to play whatever the fuck they want every night. you should be grateful that they continue to play after being on the road for over 4 months just to please you the fans ......the least you can do is respect them and what they do for you .......if your bitchin about them playing the same set every night you should put your fucking finger up your ass ....they don't exist for you......you exist for them

Meshuggah was alright, if you like that kind of music. Maynard came out wearing a shiny black suit. He had a black stripe painted from his chin, up and over the top of his head. Here's the best setlist that I can put together for tonight. Its a pretty standard show from what I've read. Sober The Grudge Stinkfist H Schism Parabol Parabola Aenema Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus Halfway through Stinkfist, Maynard went backstage, took off the black suit he was wearing and came back out wearing nothing but a black speedo-type-thing. On his back he had his spinal column and his pelvis painted. Maynard graced us with his guitar skillz during Schism and the second half of the show. The drummer and another guitarist from Meshuggah assisted on Triad. It looked like the guitarist was playing some sort of keyboard. I woulda paid to see only Triad, as long as it was played this way, it was that intense. Maynard gave his "Question Authority" speech just before Lateralus. All-around this was a better experience than I had in Cedar Rapids last fall. The sound was perfect here. The visuals (art similar to the Lateralus front cover) and opening act were better than in CR. The crowd was pretty decent. I only saw a few shoes being tossed around. The only bad thing that pissed me off was someone decided to chuck a glowstick at Danny. It really shows what kind of a band Tool is when they will stop at these small venues when they could be selling-out the bigger ones. The extra effort is greatly appreciated. The best time I've had sober in years. Peace.

First off, To the idiot who said that the guys in Tool are old and that they can't play some of the songs like they used to, you apparently havn't listned to the same tool that I have listned to for years. On the contrary, their songs have become more complex and increasingly difficult. Just listen to the 30 second or so scream in The Grudge. Go ahead , try to do that same scream and see if you don't almost pass out and when you 're done try it again and get it to sound right. Danny's hypnotic tribal drum sounds are almost impossible to mimic. There are very few drummers out there in the world who can play offbeat and with the intensity that he plays with. Adam and Justins rhythm's and complex licks are unlike anthing out there in the music biz. Some of you people need to grow and get beyond your nostalgia. Yeah it would be nice to hear some of those songs but what Tool plays are the songs that can best convey the message they're trying to get across. There's hidden meaning at they're concerts. It tells a story with each song being just a chapter in that story. To play a different song that the "crowd" wants to hear would change the meaning of that story. Most of the people who recognize that story or at least acknowledge that there was a greater meaning in the concert as a whole are usually the ones who equate it to a religious experience. I'm not saying that people walk away with divine inspiration but they do walk away inspired. And that is the whole purpose of a Tool Experience. To become inspired and maybe heal this Hell on Earth one person at a time. The reoccurring base theme throughout Tools catalog of songs is healing and becoming aware of who we are and why we are here. Not necessarily meaning of life stuff but for us to have a positive purpose on this planet so we can all live happy ,healthy and meaningful lives. And by the way to the guy in the previous post about Maynards back. It's not painted on, it's tattooed on. Peace out love and all that other hippy shit!!!!!!

Unbelievable show....here is the setlist: Flood Divorced (Melvins cover) Pushit (salival version) 46 & 2 H. No Quarter Pushit (again, can you believe it?) Eulogy 4 Degrees Commando (rammones cover) ---intermission featuring ÆNIMA video--- Third Eye Disopsition Reflection Triad Lateralus Rich Girl (Selwyn cover - awesome) *The band had only just started their setlist until the poles shifted a year early and the whole stadium got thrown due to the fact that the earth stopped spinning.....oops i guess the band didnt anticipate for Planet X this early! Amazing show.....here are some of the highlights: Maynard actuarlly parachuted onto the stage (he wasnt in the army for nothing) Adam was sick so his mum had to come in and play for him. Maynard pulled a 2 min scream for the grudge (and we thought he wouldnt make 20!) Once again awesome show. Thanks Danny Maynard Adam and Justins mum on bass for an awesome experience!

HEY......SNAPPERHEADS. lighten up already. If you saw Tool and enjoyed for what you know it too be, good for you. You probably felt super afterwards and went home, petted your dog, told your significant other that you love and appreciate them, had sex and went to sleep with a smile. You are a fairly good human. If you paid $50 bucks and were pissed that Tool did not play Opiate so you could mosh and punch strangers, good for you. Send me $50 bucks and be pissed I didn't play you favorite song I wrote 10years ago. Hopefully in your discontent, you went to 7-11 and mouthed of to the cashier, so he shot you. The perfect end to a perfect evening. If I ever hear you whine about Tool again, I'm going diractly to your parents house and I'm going to grab your mother and shove her up your fathers ass. Cool, Later. Oh yeah, Tool was great, again.

Attention brainwashed TOOL fans. The setlist is the same listen to the CD. The money hungry team of TOOL has a massive money generating machine so get out of the way (18 mill net 2001) To change the setlist would be changing the tire of their machine costly and in the way of bottom lines. For all of the nuggets out their who claim that TOOL doesn't play their old stuff because it doesn't fit in wiht the songs? Give your head a shake, have their shit is discovery channle eye surgery or other abstract shots, nothing and anything could be played with these shots. I don't imagine we would hear people complain that dead bodies floating in water didn't match Pushit's time sequence. This excuse doesn't work. For other mints who think that we exist for TOOL? Time to popen the blinds to your room and ask yourself where you are? Without the fans TOOL can sing happy birhtday to each other and nobody would care! And you other mints who believe their is hidden meaning behind the concerts bullshit. It's just music with Maynardo spinning words claiming different things. Just music. Setlist is the same because TOOL is set on their ways. They believe they are differnt then most bands and they are. Asking them to change their list is like blood from a rock it won't work. So go ahead and complain but it won't work. The best you can hope for is a mention in on of those stupid columns by Blair on Tooolband. (Useless site) So go ahead and join the money machine, go to their concert, join thier little army and expect the predictable. Maybe they will play Commando and try and draw some old fans back.....not this one. \ Kid Canada

hey there... well a little bit dissapointed about all this tool "fans" bitching about the set list... i guess tool is something more interesting that being at a concert to check out the set list... this was my second tool show, i saw them back on july in az, and they offered an amazing show... i think they led the crowd to the point they wanted to... it's not just to create something positive... it's about trying to open our third eye by ourselves... tool is not angry anymore assholes... anger is gone... the best is yet to come... i'm glad i can listen to the lateralus lyrics and make me feel comfortable and balanced... i do love the work they have done in the past specially with undertow and opiate... so if the band is playing mostly lateralus stuff... well be happy that is what they're offering to you right now... if you wanted to listen the opiate-undertow-aenima era then you should've attended a concert back in 97...i didn't and i'm not dissaponited because of that... by the way, people are also complaining that tool is doing this tour just for the money, what the fuck is your point? of course they also play for the cash... what were you expecting? to have everything in life for free?... hope you guys can listen to tool the next time and think in what they've done to you... just sit back and enjoy the master pieces they've written and try to have that experience as a support to your own life and thinking...see ya... i was extremely happy maynard dedicated lateralis to layne staley... he used to love tool... and viceversa... hey kabir thank you for keeping this page up man...

Yeah i am sorry i forgot about MESHUGGAH! when i got my ticket i heard them playing and it sounded alright. then i went in and heard them jamming and it was better than their studio stuff. and i was wondering when this site is going to come up with a moving screen saver of the BOXED FLAMES PUSHING OUT AND THE EYE BALLS MOVING IN. just a thought. and to the haters of TOOL you dont know why you come to patranize them other than the fact that you out grew them and grew into M&M fans. i think you micky mouse thug ass wanna bes should just get over the fact that TOOL is more than what you can comprehend, only because you cant achieve this affect on your own, PURE SATISFACTION!!!!! it is beautiful for a band to have such passion to play the same songs over and over again and not loose any of the first feelings of playing it over a course of time!!!! but umm i can understand what you feel, i mean i feel for your cd players for they have to hear 'hi my name is' over and over again while you paint your face white and then straighten your pig tails futher into the air. if you lost anything for TOOL, it is your fault and you should not put them down because if you was in the same situation you wouldah gave up along time ago because lets face it what you say is a reflection of yourself worth and that means nothing you are is justifiably rational.

yeah, they should change atleast a couple songs on there, seriously though, im sure people saying "the experience is great, same setlist or not" would have liked to hear something else, not completely something else but something mixed in there they didnt get last time. i am going to buy a ticket for the L.A show just cause i got 46 and 2 instead of H. and all im hoping for is H. this time, wow imma spend around 50 bucks to maybe hear H. live. I'm sure theres some "mystical" self-evaluative, "look inside yourself" reason they play the same shit, but i already experienced that last time, all im asking for is a couple of songs changed around besides opiate insted of aenema and H. instead of 46 and 2 and vice versa, maybe change stinkfist to eulogy or someshit, geez anyway, it sounds like im bitching and maybe you smart asses are gonna write back at how ungrateful a tool fan i am, but oh well, fuck you guys.

My How fast things have fallen...Yes I admit they could have switched things up a bit. But I certainly wasn't anywhere near bashing the fuckin band because they played all of Lateralus again. What are they supposed to play...? When a band comes out with an album then they go and tour on that album, of course they are going to play the whole album every night. They are going to do that because its their newest shit. And arguably their best shit. As well I find it hard to believe that someone who is a tool fan would actually go to their concert and instead of having a good time, choose to fuckin complain about their songs. Good job guys, dont pay attention to Alex Grey's artwork...dont fuckin bother watching the images flashing across the screen and asking yourself how it pertains to the songs...dont fucking bother watching Adam or Justin play trying to pick up a few clues on how to play Flood or the Outro for Schism...Fuck that..."Dude...why dont they play Hush" And while we're on the subject of gratitude Issues here, so much for a fuckin thank you to the band for touring in such a small venue. You people are impossible to please. In the future dont bye a fuckin ticket if your going to bash one of the greatest bands of all time.

YOU ARE HATING TOO MUCH! WHAT THE HELL? Kid Canada, you're just an asshole. You're acusing Tool of being too commercial because they're putting on a show that makes people want to see them. Yeah, like those fuckers in Sigur Ros, just writing music that makes us want to buy their CDs so they can take your money. BANDS ARE COMMERCIAL. GET IT! THEY CAN ONLY SURVIVE TO MAKE MUSIC IF THEY MAKE MONEY. If Trail Of Dead couldn't make Interscope money they wouldn't have been able to make Source Tags & Codes. If Bill Hicks couldn't have made some theaters money then he wouldn't have been able to perform. And did any of you actually WATCH the show? Did you listen to Reflection, look at the artwork, the visuals, and the lighting? Are you telling saying that you didn't enjoy a concert because it's too predictable? You know what else was predictable. Lateralus, because they told us what songs were going to be in what order before it came out. I'm glad they don't change the set much. This way nobody misses out on the great experiance of a tool show. I don't want some other people to get to see Third Eye and not me. Now take a deep breath, go back, look at the performance, oh yeah it's the best thing ever. And those of you that say things like "they've evolutioned their merkaba anima fibonaci sequence black magic to make a great show," shut up, I couldn't care less about any dark rituals or cult beliefs Tool references (which is why I agree with whoever said Blairs news letters are worthless). Just say: The band has grown up, and made their music more complex so simple (and crappy) songs like pretty much everthing off Opiate, the song Undertow, Intolorance, Swamp Song, Crawl Away, and Bottom won't get played. And why are you people complaining that people who dig Ticks & Leeches and Hooker w/a penis were there? That's great. Tool has managed to create music that can be enjoyed by everyone, they have accomplished their goal of making universal music. A goth, and a jock can enjoy their music equaly, but for different reasons, and that is a good thing. And another thing. How can you possibly hate after a Tool show? How? After both of the shows I've seen I was filled with nothing but love and euphoria for weeks. It still hasn't really gone away. So, look back on what you saw, what you heard, and remember: YOU SAW THINGS YOU CAN ONLY SEE AT A TOOL SHOW, YOU FELT THINGS YOU CAN ONLY FEEL AT A TOOL SHOW! IMMERSE YOUR SOUL IN LOVE!!!

I'm going to the gig in Philly on the 29th, I was wandering how the whole magic of Tool would affect my chances of scoring it with a certain "lady friend." I'm not sure if Maynard prancing around on stage in a thong will help though.

HOLY SH$T---Tool in Rapid City, who knew. The show was great even for the Civic Centers reputation as a bad venue. That was the best sound job I have heard coming from that building. The boys amaze me everytime with something new in the show. DANNY IS GOD!!!!!!! I am a drummer and what he does is magical and just sick. Maynard was on tonight, and ADAM was f@#!ing amazing. Justin also makes me hot!!!!! They are the best band by far that I have seen live and will hopefully see them many times more. To all the people who are negative in these review sections and don't even talk about the shows, SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!! We don't want to hear about your negative thoughts and mindless ramblings. PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL!!! B

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

I first saw TOOL at Ozzfest '98 at PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey, and again on this same tour last October (10-02-2001) in Madison Square Garden in New York City. This time it was an entirely different set than last year's show, and I really appreciate that. In 2001 they did nothing from "Undertow" but they did do "Opiate". I have NO complaints! My God, I just moved here from NYC and feared I'd never see a quality show again, especially out here in West Podunk. When visiting in the past, I saw "Journey" but it was without Steve Perry, and the only bands of note I'd ever seen listings for were other "has-beens". Recently I have seen Alice Cooper (1st time!) and now TOOL! I hope this trend upward will continue! Now back to TOOL. When I listen to their albums, I just hit play and let it go. I don't listen to individual songs. They don't do "tunes", more like concertos, in movements. Their last two releases especially so. I dim the lights, take the phone off the hook and fully enjoy their work, the experience. FUCKIN' BRILLIANT!!! By the way, Meshuggah was a much better opening act than Phantomas who I was forced to sit through in NYC. I think it means shit in Portugese. I was a bit disappointed at all the empty seats. If we don't go when we do get a great show out here, we'll be forced to settle for Little River Band. Thank you TOOL!

This was the best concert i have ever seen...Meshuggah got the adrenaline in the crowd going...actually, my neck still hurts from flailing my head around...and they rocked with the majority of their new cd and a few old songs, of which my favorite "new millenium cyanide christ" was played...oooh it was great...after fourty five minutes of a pure meshuggah rush, we waited for tool to appear on stage...half an hour later we were hit with sober, and i have never felt so alive in my life

I wanted to add my review even though it's all pretty standard. The setlists haven't been listing all of the songs. Merkaba (3/4) Sober The Grudge (-) Ions Stinkfist H Schism Parabol/a Aenima Intermission Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus The band jammed a lot in between songs merkaba was defintely played for about 4-5 minutes.

Ok sorry to have to waste space with this but why doesn't everyone stop posting just random attacks on bands, people, venues, etc. It doesn't do anything and it wastes my life sifting through your complaints to read REAL reviews, and REAL setlists, sorry to waste space myself.

Allright...so, this was my 1st Tool concert, although I've been a fan of their music for many years... They did a fantastic job with the lights, stage and sound, yet I was disappointed that they didn't sell out here in Rapid City... Come on people!! you all bitch that we don't get any decent shows here in RC, that we have to drive to Denver or Minneapolis in order to see any "big name" groups, then, when we DO get a kick ass band here, ticket sales are slow, then the band doesn't come back next year, or anyone else for that matter... I give Tool a great deal of credit for coming here and am thoroughly grateful to them for their performance and effort.

Music has the power to move your soul or just kinda craddle you in its arms. This is what happened to me on oct. 10. The setlist means nothing they made it up,and if it was different the show would have been too.I love tool and seeing them was fucking great. I may not know all the band members names and i don't give a shit when I listen to them the music grabs me I feel good. Thats what the show and their music is to me. Thank you tool for makeing music

MOST of you petty people make me sick... if you didn't get what you wanted out of the show such as hearing a particular song or a whole dream fucking set, having the perfect seat, not being near "potheads", not practically getting beat-up, not seeing your ideal opener, not being able to appreciate talented musicians despite the fact they were not playing the sound you wanted to hear instead of pouring their souls into the music THEY FELT and identified with, didn't get that special momento, didn't enjoy the sound in what ever venue they were in, etc.,etc., etc. TO FUCKING BAD!!! I have one word for your ungreatful whiny neophytic asses KARMA. Period stop with you self-pity and washed up desires it don't get you nowhere just let go immerse yourself in the rythmns of life and goddamn it FREE YOURSELVES FROM YOURSELVES.
