A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: November 21

From: Eddie Bitetti (edbite@gate.cybernex.net) I had the priveledge of seeing TooL both nights in New York. Thursday: Maynard is fully covered in light blue flourescent body paint with only boxer shorts on. Justin has white body paint with red spots all over that look like leetches(sp). Adam and Danny were just shirtless. Before they came on, there was an eerie sort of halloween type music playing. Then the lights dimmed and through the speakers came a very deep rumbling noise as if something were coming up through the earth. You could feel the bass through your whole body. Then the curtain dropped on the stage unveiling two screens, and the image on the album cover came to life. They came out and the crowd went wild. They opened with Stinkfist and went on to play(not exactly in this order)46 & 2, pushit, swamp song, hooker, eulogy, prison sex, jimmy, a very long drum solo intro to sober, opiate and Aenima. He explained how jimmy was an extension of prison sex and did that "this is the last song.........off our first record" All together an excellent show and I was very glad I was there.
