A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: November 23

From: Louise Strande (strande@UMDNJ.EDU) Subject: philly show I know this review is a couple weeks late but after reading the other reviews I had memories so I have to give my personal opinions. Opening Act: Yes, Psychotica sucked and the the man/woman backup singer was really scary, but I knew things could have been worse. I saw the Cows open for Primus last year and trust me they are ten times worse. I also liked that Psychotica didn't play to long so that tool could get on stage. TOOL: What can I say? I was mesmerized by Maynard. The show just totally kicked ass. I was ecstatic when they opened with 3rd Eye, a personal favorite of mine. Some people were complaining about the crowd in their reviews but I didn't think the pit was bad at all. I did a good amount of moshing during some of my favorite songs but if I needed a break I didn't have any problem getting out and taking a rest. Anyway, I think the greatest part of the show for me was pushit. When Maynard reached the end ("I will always love you as I claw...") I stopped dead in the mosh pit because I had to look up. (I payed for it by getting punched in the face, but that doesn't matter.) Overall, it was a great show. I would have liked maybe one more old song but it was okay. Aenema was great with the revised lyrics. I can't wait to see them again. paul p.s.-sorry I didn't see you there. I kept my eyes out for a tall indian guy with long hair, but I didn't see ya.
