A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: November 29

From: Stephane Fournier (spoony@cam.org) 'Twas in Montréal, the 29th of November. In fact, it wasn't at the Medley but at the Metropolis. Here's a little description of what happened: First there was Psychotica. They were kind of good. Not bad, i mean...Anyway, about 30 to 45 minutes after Psychotica left the stage, all the lights went off. Everybody was freakin'...Then bass. A lot of bass. My jeans were shaking around my legs...Incredible bass. Then after about 10 minutes of bass and organ music (don't know what it was), two projectors lightened up, revealing the white "flaming" square of the cover of aenima. Know what i mean?? I think so... Then, after another 10 minutes came Maynard, carrey, chancellor and jones. Everybody was freaking even more. The band took there places...and then the lights went on. Everybody shut up around me, not knowing what to do...Maynard's body was painted all over. Half blue, half white. From head to toes. On his blue side was standing Jones, all painted in blue, and on the white half of Maynard was Justin Chancellor, all painted in white. Nice sight. Then they begun playing something. I don't know what...Maybe not a song. Anyway, after this introduction and a couple of feedbacks came Stinkfist. It was incredibly loud. I just loved it. And the show went on, song after song. Maynard was crazy. Moving all around, contortioning in every manner. He really is amazing. When they played Sober, the video was rolling behind them, on the two screens. Also, they played the Prison Sex video. But i was wondering why the timing was not good between the video and the song the band played. Then i finally understood. They shown a part of the Prison Sex video i didn't ever seen. It was cool. Stupid television that cuts everything...Anyway, it was a great show and i'd go see it another time anytime. Maybe even twice more...If you get a chance, go see it, it's worth the price. The Spoon King.
