A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: December 3

From: kdb13@earthlink.net REVIEW OF TOOL SHOW CAPITAL BALLROOM 12.3.96 by dean-o I did not become a TOOL fan until last year. While road tripping to D.C. with D.O.S.E., a band I manage, I would listen to the bass player's CD collection. He had Undertow and Opiate. I could NOT stop listening to them. When Aenima came out, I added it to my heavy rotation of most listened to CDs. I kept hearing about how phenomenal TOOL was live, yet had not witnessed them myself until December 3 of 1996. UN-FUCKING-BELIEVABLE!!! There was a lot of pressure for TOOL to live up to the reputation I had formed in my head. I was actually worried that the band would fall short since I had such lofty expectations. WRONG ANSWER BITCH!! TOOL RULES THIS UNIVERSE!!! I have to say that the show I witnessed in our country's capitol was the best concert I have ever been to by far! The band was tighter than a gnat's ass and more mesmerizing than a witch doctor! I felt like I was TOOL was sitting on my face taking a big fat shit. Holy Hell!!! UNREAL!! ...incredible musicians...incredible performers...the most intense music available.... I love every song found on TOOL's three albums that I own, so I can not complain that they played a bad set list. My only requests would have been to play: LONGER (A LOT FUCKING LONGER) & HOOKER WITH A PENIS. I see concerts all of the time and no other band has ever come even close to matching what TOOL did to me that Tuesday night in D.C.
