From: "--datskat--" (fisherd@cvn.net) Subject: show review: D.C. 12/3/96 first off, this was my first Tool show, and i wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleased. before the band came out, there was a constant double bass drum-like hum. there were 2 huge screens as the backdrop that were showing a fil of the Aenima cover. maynard came out wearing nothing but these boxer short type things, and his body was painted. his right side was dark blue, and the left was white. Justin was painted white with black polka dots. the films on the screen ranged from random trippy images to video clips, to a film of evolution and lots more. the best backdrop i've ever seen at a show. i can't recall the entire setlist, but i know all my favorites were played; Undertow, Stinkfist (i yelled chickenweasel, and so did lots of others), Sober, a hella good version of Prison Sex, 46 & 2, a killer rendition of Opiate, and the finale was Aenima. overall, an incredible show. my friend and i waited for an hour outside the club for the band, but no dice. we went to Wendy's across the street, but got no food because they had just been robbed 5 minutes earlier. in conclusion, i've earned a new respect for the band, and i'm very happy about it. hella show, kid. hella show. much love, datskat
