A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: December 11

From: DGorski700@aol.com On Dec. 11th, I saw Tool perform at the UCF Arena, where I go to school. My friend and I had floor tickets, so we got there early to get a close spot. Well, that's exactly what we got! We stood right in the front, behind the rail, facing the middle of the stage. I still can't believe we were that close to Maynard! The first band totally sucked! This guy came out dressed in some ugly white outfit, which looked really hot and uncomfortable! Since I was in the front, I was lucky enough to get a close look at him! (ughhh) He stood right in front of us, screeching out lyrics like, "we are the dead...." He was covered in glitter, and could definitely use a shower! The audience looked pretty bored with him; we all tried to be patient until he left. The guy behind me was the only one in the crowd, I think, that actually liked Psychotica. He knew all the songs, and when the singer saw this guy, he ran over to him and they sang together....what a touching moment! They finally left, and we all waited anxiously for almost 30 minutes. When Maynard walked out, I thought I was going to lose it! I've always loved his voice; I think it is very sensual. So, I've been dying to see what he looks like......needless to say, I was more than pleased! He was painted dark blue, almost black, and had his little white boxers on. He has an awesome body; I'm glad he was showing it off, cuz I definitely enjoyed it! He was singing his little heart out that night; it was almost like he got into my soul....it was really deep. Now when I listen to my tapes or cds, it's a totally different experience than before I saw him in person. The best part of the whole concert was when Maynard sang to me. Yes, that's right, he looked right into my eyes and sang PRISON SEX to me. I know, not a very romantic song, but I could have cared less what he was saying. The fact that he looked into my eyes was enough for me. And it wasn't just a glance either! I mean, he LOOKED into my eyes.....I could "feel" him throughout my entire body. It was the weirdest, but coolest thing! I was getting pretty pissed at all these guys around me though. Why can't people just stand still and watch a concert? Why must everyone freak out and mosh? I can't stand it! I got hit in the head like every 5 minutes from those stupid people floating on top of the crowds. Since there were only a few girls up in the front, the guys around me tried to protect me, which I was very thankful for. When the concert was over, I felt so strange......like I was drunk or something. That concert was so totally orgasmic!! My friend and I had to sit down on the grass before we left, cuz we were so overwhelmed! We just sat there smoking and freaking out about how great that concert was. We were so close to Maynard; I just loved to look at him sing. It was the best concert I have ever been to! I can't wait to see them again. Telling people the concert was good just doesn't cut it! You have to experience Tool for yourself to totally understand. It's not just some concert, it's an experience of a lifetime. -MG-
