This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Oh my God. Unbelievable. I can't begin to describe the sheer euphoria that rushed through my body during the show. I cannot recall the exact setlist. Started out with Sober, ended with Lateralis. In between, Stinkfist, 46 & 2, Aenima, The Grudge, Schism, Triad, Reflection, Eon Blue Apocalypse, Parabol/Parabola. Maybe another one I'm forgetting. Awesome show. Roughest pit I've ever been in but it was well worth my place in the center of the 2nd row. The band seemed thrilled at the end and thanked us very, very warmly. All my thanks go out to the guys from Tool for an awesome show. Your music moved me tonight in an amazing way. Thank you. Anyone with pics, please email me. :)

This was this reviewer's 5th Tool show

Somebody will have already posted the setlist so I won't... I will say that I was pretty happy with it, though I wouldn't have minded another cut off Undertow. 1. I was glad they didn't play an encore--while I will always want more Tool, ending with Lateralus was perfect, philosophically speaking, and the show was just the right length. 2. The visuals... ohhhh yeah. It takes a bit away from the raw energy of the show and the crowd's response, but it makes it something else entirely... more of an experience than just going to hear the music. It's hard to imagine anything with 9000 people being "thoughtful", but that was how it felt at some points. 3. Maynard was definitely having vocal problems tonight. He backed off a lot of things that I have heard him nail before. Plus, I keep promising my girlfriend that he's gonna strip down to a thong, and he never does. 4. Tomahawk fucking ruled. They were a little bit overshadowed by the fact that they were playing to a half empty and pretty indifferent hockey rink at first, but all I had to do was imagine seeing them in an 800-seater... it would be one of the best shows ever. Mike Patton sounded incredible, even with hockey-rink sound. 5. The funniest thing we saw all night was this kid with his mom... he was about 10 and she was at least 40, and while you do see some 40-year-old women at Tool shows she wasn't... well... you know what I mean. We kept imagining her trying to explain why Mike Patton was talking about sticking his finger up people's assholes... then when the Tool visuals started, it would be... "sorry, honey, mommy doesn't know what that is... mommy doesn't know why that man's face keeps doing that... no, mommy doesn't know why the big man is cutting the little man in half... honey, mommy's scared..." But remember, Mom, take home something positive from this :-)

Yes....my first tool show and i was astonished. I am no poser...they just never came to ottawa and when they decided to i had tickets for sure. It was incredible (the lighting, backdrops and special effects and et cetera!) Maynard now has a mowhawk which is interesting. The openers Tomahawk are ok..not the greatest though. Danny where do you get all that energy? I am done after half an hour of good soloing, but you can probably last a day! Adam..you're mysterious and distant...it's cool. Maynard you are a genius and a role model. Justin you are an incredible addition to the band. As soon as tool hit the stage it was overwhelming.I hated all those posers who went just to hear schism because it got played on the radio so damn much...Don't tell me to sit down people..It's a tool concert. Anyway...end of discussion ...amazing show and Maynard the world is NOT coming to an end. The setlist is not accurate but close...(all these songs were played guaranteed) Sober The grudge Ions(-) Stinkfist(extended) 46 & 2 Mantra (interlude) Schism Parabol/Parabola Aenima - INTERMISSION- Dispostion Reflection Triad (Danny is amazing) Ft. John from tomahawk Lateralis Spiral Out. David

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

what can i say, Tool was absolutly amazing yet again. The show started out with Tomahawk. I was worried about their set form hearing past reviews, but they were not all that bad. They were just different. The Ottawa crowd responded to the tomahawk set in a very positive way. The whole band said they were dressed as the Ottawa police and at the end of the show they'll be escorting people out and they are not afraid to do a rectal exam. It was an interesting show, but it just wasnt my style. The sounds wasnt all tat great and Mike Patton's screaming bored me after a while. On that Note, on the Tool portion of the Night. The Stage setup was amazing. It was vastly differnt from the last tour. Maynard can be seen a lot more and the stage was not overwhelmed by two giant screens as in the past tour. There were two smaller screens out in front of the stage and a large backdrop of an artwork by Alex Grey. The Set list was amazing...(These were the songs but the order is a tad messed up.) Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46&2 Aenima Schism Parabol Parabola ---Intermission--- Disposition Triad Reflection Lateralus Maynard was very active during the whole show. It looked like he was dressed in a police uniform and he had a thick Black strip going down his face. He really didnt say much except for his usual "Take this experiance and do something positive" speech. During Parabola Two big Balls Floated up and started rotating on their own. They were larger versions of the Ball thing that kills the little creature in the Parabola Video. The band at the end played an amzing version of Triad with the drummer from Tomahawk playing Tom's in the middle of the stage. Allright, this review is getting long and i'm really tired. To sum up the whole night, The Show was spectacular and i didnt expect anything less from the Band. Thanks For an amazing show yet again and i cant wait to see them live agian. It is a true experiance that made me a better person just by seeing them play. Later For Now Cold Chillin

This was this reviewer's 1st! Tool show

omigod. this was my first show...i had alot of high hopes for this concert but i was completely blown away by how amazing it was! i'll be honest though, tomahawks music isn't what i expected but i did find them entertaining. tool...what can i say...incredible is what i'm thinking...they opened with sober which started the concert with a bang, then followed by the grude and stinkfist. got to hear aenima, schism, parabol/parabola, mantra, lateralus and a few others thrown in there. i was amazed at how tight they sounded live, i almost like them live more than their albums. maynard was definitely really into the show...talking with the corwd frequently, and really showing us his vocal talents...man can he hold a note.adam seemed really in the moment only focusing his attention to his guitar...he defintely has some really good guitar licks under his belt. justin was really putting on a show...occasionaly getting on his knees. finally danny carey brought the house down with his drumming. he really got the crowd going inaenima and lateralus. all in all this has to be a huge highlight in my life. thank u tool for making this real for me

wow, what an amazing show, i had been waiting for years to see that, tomahawk were awesome, but didnt get a very good crowd reaction aside from when mike patton spoke in between songs, danny carey joined them during one song on a mixer board type thing, patton was wicked, his screams are sweet and he had a gas mask with a microphone inside that he used sometimes Tomahawk - setlist jockstrap flashback god hates a coward angel eyes 101 north sir yes sir point and click laredo tool then hit the stage and my god it was amazing, maynard had white facepaint on with a black stripe down the middle, dannys drums are massive, adam and justin had the same lifeless facial expressions until the end, the special effects and video footage was very well done Tool - setlist sober the grudge stinkfist 46 & 2 schism parabola aenema INTERMISSION disposition reflection triad (with tomahawks drummer helping out) lateralus the crowd was most intense during aenema, and the loudest crowd reaction went to sober, since they opened with it, and at the end when the band came out to the front of the stage and all hugged and threw out various water bottles, adam attempted to fold the setlist into a paper airplane to throw out but it never went far enough, i almost caught a water bottle thrown by justin but it was a bit over my head, overall an amazing show, one of the best days of my life, and i would gladly do it all over again...and again...and again...and so on

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

Just got back from seeing Tomahawk (who kicked ass). Tool played after them. Theirs was not a good show. The first half was ok. The second was a complete fucking garbage dump. You know the setlist-it's the exact same one they play every single fucking night. So no suprises there. There were some cool songs here and there (the Grudge was really cool, 46 and 2 is always great), but ultimately, i thought it was a shitty, boring concert. Maynard was doing his best impression of Count Orlock from Nosferatu and looked fucking ridiculous. i think Danny was the only one who actually broke a sweat. that said, the whole intermission thing really baffles me. what, they need a break after that grueling workout? so we can watch some shitty art-film that looked like it was made by a 15 year old with a really good computer program? talk about pissing in our faces. and yeah, the entire second half was pure shit. the whole disposition/reflection/triad section is such boring crap. 20 minutes of uninspired, worn-out guitar riffs and the same drum pattern that appears in practically every other Tool song. It's fucking hard enough to sit through this go- nowhere crap when it's on CD. having to watch them trudge through it (all the while standing around like they're waiting for a bus) was excrutiating. and it's not like i'm some punk rocker who needs everything to be compact and verse chorus verse chorus and 3 minutes long. i like challenging music and am totally up for it. but tool just don't cut it with this artsy bullshit. they remind me of wish you were here era pink floyd-a bunch of rock and roll slobs standing stock-still, playing their long, long, boring songs against a huge production of films, lights and bullshit. tool has really taken a fall from being a once really awesome band. i hope they thank god every day and night that they have millions of fans who will like them NO MATTER WHAT!!! So, there's my take. I don't expect anyone to agree with me. but i'll put this out there-Tool is supposed to be a band who inspires you to think for yourself. how about taking this philosophy and turning it on them. ask yourself-is what you just saw really that good, or is that just what you tell yourself because you love the band? try and look at it objectively. maybe it's not the religious fucking experience everyone seems to think it is.

This was this reviewer's 2? Tool show

Well well well, It's fucking 2:22 in the morning and I just came back from my second TOOL show. I live in Montreal and we drove 2 hours to see my favorite bandS. TOOL is my favorite band with MR BUNGLE, so I was glad to see the two best frontman ever on the fucking same stage, It was great. Ok now, lets just say something...MAYNARD, take a fucking break before you get burned out!!! Dawm, if you are tired, take off!!! Mike Patton fucking stole the show with his Hyper active performance and was singing like a GOOD frontman. No offence to Maynard, he got the most beautiful voice out there and I understand that he may be tired with two projet ( I also love APC). The new stuff with Alex Grey was awsome and WHAT THE HELL IS APPENING TO THERE SOUND??? They win the lottery ? It was the best sound EVER in my intire life. Looks like they bought the best equipment on the market. NOW THE SETLIST: Sober The Grudge Stinkfist Schism 46 and two Parabol/parabola Aenima intermission THE FUCKING TRILOGIE THAT I HATE BECAUSE I WAS ON THE FLOOR WITH NO SEET TO REST MY 6'3'' BACK BONES Lateralus If i missed some songs, remember , it's 2:35 now in the morning. IT looks like the disposition, reflection and triad songs are great but they fucking destroy the trance spirit we've been building during the first haf. SO, IT was really excellent, but I hope they will correct some mistakes and take A FUCKING BREAK, ( Danny was on top as always...)

Hello all, It's the day after the Tool show in Ottawa and I a a little depressed that it is all over. The show was amazing. Everything abourt it felt right. The band was enjoying themselves and you could tell. All th songs were done to perfection and the crowd was very responsive. These guys are incredible to see live. The video's were intertwined with the music. It was done so well. There was so much power to the music and iy sounded great with all the new little intro's to songs and the incredible percussion intro halfway through the set. Thanks for a great show Guys. Oh...By th way, for those that think Maynard is not happy unless he undresses to his speedo's , I think your wronge. He stayed fully dressed for this show but he made sure he let us Canadians know he was happy to be here. I quote "Thanks for reminding us why we like coming to Canada" Anyway, Awesome show, and kudos to Tomahawk , they put on a great little set. Chow.

First off, Tomahawk frikkin rules. Patton is one of the great musicians/vocalists of our time. They got a suprisingly decent reception here; although a good majorty of people didnt like it and a few were screaming for Tool. Patton rolled with it though ... telling us "Thanks for being patient while waiting for Tool" and when he did his "We are the Ottawa Police" deal he pointed a rubber gloved hand to the crowd and said "See this (finger)?? Im not afraid to use it ... like on YOU! Ya the guy with the beard ... you look like you have a nice tight asshole ... and YOU over there ..... naw, you're more Maynards type... I'll let him take care of you." Thanx for a great set Tomahawk. Next up ... I dunno about a spiritual experience, but Tool is definatley one of the best live bands I have ever seen. The videos were very cool ... the backdrop trippy and the lighting effective but not overpowering. Sound was exceptional, very level and you could hear what everyone on stage was doing. The setlist was etremely decent ... it was (I think ... correct me if Im wrong soneone) Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46 & 2 Schism AEnima Parabol / Parabola ---- Intermission (cool bass noise !!) Disposition Reflection (John from Tomahawk came out and played drms with them) Lateralus (I think they played a 4th tune in the 2nd set ... if they did, I cant remember what it was) All in all a great show. Maynerd sang with his back to the crowd most of the nite but whatever. His voice didnt break (and he held the yell from the Grudge for over 20 seconds. I had to time it lol) ... Adam was ok, but seemd kinda off ... BUT Tool has absolutly the BEST bass/drum combo on this planet!!!! Danny and Justin are maniacs. Being a bass player myself, Justin simply blew me away. The sounds he coaxed outta his insturment was mind boggling. And Danny, well ... anmazing. Simply amazing. The crowd was good ... a few body surfers ... no fights that I saw or heard of. But its funny ... like my buddy mentioned to me before Tool hit the stage: "A few years ago all you would see at a metal concert was torn denim, leather and spikes ... now its baseball caps and sports t-shirts" ... lol. The only thing that sucked was the Corel Center security. You guys SUCK ASS!!!! I had my ticked checked 3 times before I got theo the floor and they made me check my friggin wallet!!!!! It was on a chain and they told me it was security and saftey reasons. C'mon!!!! Give us a little credit here! I was there to hear Tomahawk and Tool NOT to whip people with my wallet chain for kicks. All in all I hope Tool comes back to Ottawa, even though they prolly wont... Same goes for Patton ... whatever project you are tourning next time, bring it to Ottawa man! *Memorable note: some d00d playing Tool songs on a juice harp on the bus ride home...

Maynard didn't say much... he said: Goodevening...Thanx for reminding us why we come to Canada...I hope u attained a feeling here tonite and that u use it in the next days, weeks, months, and maybe years, and turn it into something positive. Adam and Justin were awesome, Justin really got into it even. Danny and Maynard were really amazing. Triad was one of the best songs. The drummer from Tomahawk came out to help with more drums and it blew the concert away! Awesome concert, come back soon Tool! out

What can i say Tool is the greatest band that ever existed and if anyone ever thought otherwise for one second they were surely proved wrong after this show. Yes Tomahawk was terrible and i hope i never have to sit and be tortured like that again. Ottawa fans need to be injected with hormones because they were bland and lacked energy the whole time. Highlights: Percussion section with John from Tomahawk and master Danny....Parabol/Parabola and and extended version of Stinkfist...Great show!

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

it was the best of shows, truth lad, we arrived amoungst truckloads of white canadians, all fairly excited for the show, standard tool fare, metal studs and black clothes, about half of them wore tool shirts, sweaters, etc etc, just before the sho began, the security guards were plaing "tool tivia" with the crowd, which answered half the questions with "maynard!!!" we snuck up to the bar for tomahawk, and we and sixothr people went nuts when patton took the stage, which was decked out with a deer with microphone , and an effects table in the center. they came out in their stadard mismatched police uniforms and opened with jockstrap, then 101 north, from there on memory gets blurry after acidentally smacking my had on the ground (i felt obliged to dance and cheer a little more vigourously than usual because, hell no one knew who they were, and they've been quite good about having audiances boo them throhout thier sets at previos showsthis tour, that,in adition to mike patton being te most innovative artist i've ever heard, but christ, this is a tool site, so chances are you coud'nt give two tugs of a dead dog cock abut the opener.) they played the strongest songs of thier album as well as an instromental, which danny took part in, some guy with a tool shirt on made fun of him when he went on saying "who's that washed up hippie?" he got a fair bi of applause when he left, and mikeintroduced him. hghlightsof the openers were mikes eccentric electric perfrmance, switching from a calm droning voice to screaching at thetopof his lungs and flailing around wildly like an eigt year old with a rabid cat clawing his bald charlie brown head while heruns arond his house trying to burn it off, laredo was amazing, and he introduced he band as te ottowa police department, and said (waving one hand with a latex glove covered in blood t the crowd) that they would be personally searchng eachand every one of us outside after the show, then asked started picking on fans saying something like "you're first" which then broght on a slew of willing volentiers for mikes probing fingers; no fat men in daipers this show, sadly, they were missed. Tomahawk were cheered offstage, patton said something along the lines of " thanks for puttig up with us, tool will be out soon" -the relivant bit starts here and they were, after wha felt like waiting two hours in an impatian audiance yelling " tool" and "come ou mynard" the lights finally dimmed, then went completely black. the band took its place and maynard came on last to deafeing cheers from the crowd, painted with a stripe down the center of his face, and wearing something between a oldschool punk gtup and a jumpsuit, cunvulsing jerkily to the beat in his usual manner, and facing the back of the stage which is where he stayed for most of the show, every female and one in ten males in he crowd achieved simultanious orgasm upon spotting him (my girlfreind included, but oh well, i figured that would end up being a good thing since i would be too tier after te show to even attempt to anyway (sad truth)) they opened with sober the crowd went wild, then the grudge, which was outstanding live and really shoud not be missed byany tool fan, the stage for tool was incredible, (that much better consierin it was set up in a large hockey arena) there was a huge backdrop that showed diffeent images under different light, (embryo in awomb, a fae, and another face in profile), there were two large screens which displayed many beutifull and bizzare things, played a few videos and a great deal of new imagery which went with the songs quite well. late in the show, the atonomy textbook looking human dissecton people were dropped down each separeatly around the stage, enima got me kicked in the back four times, it was not to be believed live, you simply have to go see fryurself, wewere lucky, and they played 46 and 2, parabol/parabola, was good, but it coulden't top schism , wich transformedthe entire audiace (including the chipper 14 year old girl beside me) into a mas of wrihing howling wolves all droling for a peice of maynard, which was quite obvious as calls came out betwen each song for maynard to show us his cock, we listed the reasons, and petitioned loudly, but to no avail, mynard stayed dressed throughout the show. (just once i'd like an audiance baying for my cock, just once...) pushit showed 0ff maynards vocal versitility when beutifull emotional singing was strung into harsh panting , wild shreiking and growling screams, i could see mhy so many people describe tool shows as religious experiances, and i wont be so critical towards their clams as i have been in the past. triad was exteded a signfigant amount, and featured tomahaks drummer, the extention was great, but many people became impationt towards its end, stl, it was quite impressive from a cretive standpoint, depending on what you like abut tool, you may be enthtralled, or a little dissapointed. ther was an instrumental, which was the same deal, only i thought t was much better, (and hope to get my hands on it at some point) towards the end of the show, there were two giant bundles of black ballons floating around the stage, which looed sort of like fertilized ovum (and ay good tool fan knows fertilized ovum when they see it) a freind told me they were fro one of the videos, i should realy gt a tv. they played lateralus, and did an amazingjob of, it, it was one of they strongest sngs of thier set and that is saying a hell of a lot. i'll leave a littleto the imagination, the closing performance is outstanding, and i felt was te best part of the show,go see for yourselves and get maynrd to show you his cock.

This was this reviewer's 4 Tool show

Hi everybody, I'm from Montreal so I'll write in french, since nobody never does it...

Wow, what an amazing show. After the Fall 2001 lateralus tour in Toronto, I was more than determined to get ground level tickets. What an amazing performance. The band's energy while playing accompanied by an amazing visual show kept wild fans craving only more. Artistically speaking, the visual show was stimulating and very symbolic. The songs were enhanced by calming intermissions that tied the changing moods of the songs together nicely. While some fans may have felt that this was wasteful, I found it sensible. While one cannot expect to hear every Tool song imaginable, the setlist was fulfilling. Fortunately, this tour took the opportunity to play many songs not heard on the last tour. As complete as I can remember, and in somewhat of proper order it was: Sober The Grudge Stinkfist (Extended) (-) ions forty six & 2 Schism Aenima -intermission- Parabol Parabola Disposition Reflection -brief drum solo intro- Triad Lateralus As usual, Maynard found the need to face away from the crowd for most of the show, and dressed in the usual cop slacks. Danny's double-bass drumset was impressive, and his playing even more mindblowing. Again, Maynard kindly thanked the crowd and asked them to use their feelings provoked by their concert experience to create something positive. So thank you Maynard for enhancing the lives of thousands last night. And furthermore, I highly recommend the pit.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

Great show in Ottawa. Tool came out with Sober, followed by The Grudge and Stinkfist. The other songs were 46 & 2, Parabol/Parabola, Aenima, Schism, Disposition, Reflection, Triad and Lateralus, though not in that exact order. This time around, the were no screen behind the band. The were only one on each side, which was somewhat of a problem if you were one of the lucky ones getting crushed in the front. They did, however, change the background a few times during the show, which consisted at one point of a huge toile filled with eyes forming a circle pattern. I also noticed the lighting on top of the arena was shaped just like the center of the apple in the Parabol video. Setlist was as expected, with one amazing suprise. After Disposition & Reflection, the drummer from Tomahawk came out to play with Tool on Triad, which was just mind blowing. After seeing two Tool shows, the only disappointement is the simularity in the setlist, which was basically the same as the Montreal show, minus Pushit, and Sober and Triad to replace it. All in all, and amzing show, worth every penny spent.

I just saw TOOL live in Ottawa. The concert was really amazing. The atmosphere was great even though it was about 110 degrees on the floor! Tomahawk was awesome as an opening band. The setlist, I believe, was: 1-Sober 2-The Grudge 3-Stinkfist 4-46&2 5-Schism 6-Parabol/Parabola 7-Ænema 8-Disposition 9-Reflection 10-Triad 11-Lateralus (I didn't include any of the intros to the songs except for Parabol) Anyone who hasn't seen them must go, because you'll be blown away!

Well, this was my first rock show ever... and I am glad to say that I lost my rock and roll virginity to Tool!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here's the set, the order may be a bit off... Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46&2 Schism Aenima Parabol/Parabola Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralis Every note, every beat, every minute of this show was perfect!! I'd heard bootlegs of other shows on this tour, but none of them compared to this, I must say. Maynard's voice was absolutely flawless. The alternate interlude to "Stinkfist" was awesome. The only parts I didn't enjoy too much were the intermission and the ending. The intermission was a little too drawn out and boring. The ending was too abrupt... I was hoping for a few more songs, like Opiate or Prison Sex... but I was damn well satisfied with Lateralis as a closer! Tomahawk seemed to get a lot of flack.... I personally thought that they were incredible, and that Mike Patton's vocals were even more twisted and deranged live! The only downside of the Tomahawk show was the sound, it was sometimes hard to distinguish the different instruments. The crowd was a bit disappointing... I was on the floor, and a lot of the people there didnt seem to excited. All in all, it was the most amazing show I have ever witnessed! (the only rock concert I've seen, but I've seen tons of jazz and classical concerts) I can't wait for them to come back!!!!!

caught Tomahawk & Tool last night here in Ottawa. Excellent. Here are some anecdotes from the show: Tomahawk played a ~1/2 hour set. - band was dressed as Police. - many songs sound like Jesus Lizard (not suprising - that's where the guitarist originally played). - they played a cover of Roxy Music's "In Every Dream Home a Heart Ache" relatively straight up. - audience reaction was mixed, but I thought they were good fun. Tool - played a typical setlist: Sober, Stinkfist, Aenema, + a whole pile of Lateralus - during Triad they set up a set snare drums & Tomahawk's drummer John Stanier for a fabulous extended version. - the stage setup was superb - the back drops & lighting were great. - I could have done will a little less of the videotron action. - during the "intermission" the video was kinda weak. - the band setup on stage: * guitarist front stage left. * bass front stage right * singer on riser stage left * drummer on riser stage right. the singer was unlit the entire show & for the most part faced away from the audience. Is this typical? primary lighting was focused on the drummer (kinda like he was the front man!) kind of wierd/different/interesting. Other than those few minor gripes, an amazing show.

hi I am a new tool fan, so I haven't seen them before. I drove down to ottawa with my girlfriend and a friend and, was so stoked about going to see the show. As a musician tool has been a big part of my life this past year and the thought of seeing them live would be an orgasm... and it was wow oh my god, I never experienced so many emotions at once, from the Sober to Lateralus it was fucking amazing, It is something that i am goind to remember for the rest of my life, the lights, the video displays, the music, which was changed a bit to fit the band pulling it off the best they could. Maynard spoke a bit, saying little but it meant so much. " GOOD EVENING" and "THANK YOU FOR REMINDING US WHY WE COME TO CANADA". Maynard also wanted everybody that experience any kind of emotion to take that with them and create something beautiful, they also hoped they inspired anybody in any way, I cried. Maynard, Danny, Adam and Justin all huged each other and thew a bunch of things into the crowd after the show. To all those people that haven't seen a Tool show yet please do yourself a favor and go it was the most beautiful thing I ever experienced (as a concert) ever in my life, Thank you Tool for being my muse and inspiring this lost little boy. I am going to try to remember how the setlist was to the best of my knowlege... Sober The Grudge Stinkfist Schism Aenima parabol parabola Experimental intermission disposition reflection triad (with drummer from Tomahawk on some kind of percussions) Lateralus Thank You so much Tool for your beautiful, inspiring music, You have inspired me so much that words cannot even explain... Once againg Thank You

The Corel Center’s show was as any other TOOL show - amazing!! Got there nice and early with my buddies and anxiously waited for the opening act to start (whoever it was going to be) and hoped that they would do their set quickly and clear the stage for the only reason why today’s music is still worth listening to…. The opening act was TOMAHAWK, wasn’t really into them at all….. lots of crazy noises lined with some cool beats and a singer that was trying to be Mike! Some guy behind me even screamed out: “you suck!” at some quiet part…heh! The highlight of that was when Danny came out and did some industrial looping with them - that was too cool. Man was I surprised to find out that Mike Patton (or Faith no More, Fantomas….) and John Stanier of the almighty HELMET was who I was watching and didn’t even realize it. Wish I had paid more attention, definatly a band to look into! And then TOOL……this was my second time seeing them this year (saw them at the Montreal Molson Center in 2001) so I was expecting the usual drug, you know what I mean?? But this time things were a bit different, after a lengthy un- grounded electric storm style intro they came out with “SOBER”, kickass! The familiar giant screens were hanging from the rafters continuously displaying the usual crazy assed “Tool Loops”, some of the images and stills were new too me so I’m sure they were added after last time I had seen them or rotated every now and again….maybe I just didn’t remember them, in any case the background was defiantly different. The familiar screens that usually acted as background were now replaced by a huge canvas-like drape that was used as a screen by some projector in the middle of the general admissions area, the artwork being displayed was so incredible. Some kind of fiber-optic cables hung from the ceiling accenting the electrode sound intro for “46 & 2”, There was also a disco ball in the middle of the place, didn’t see it do much though. Maynard was hidden in the shadows as usual, I could see his face and an occasional limb exposed by a spot light now and again but nothing too revealing, that didn’t matter much because with TOOL, hearing is believing. Danny was his inspiring self, playing drums like no other. Adam and Justin rocked as usual leading riff after riff…..”The Grudge” was 2nd on the list and blew my mind as always, “Stinkfist”, “46 & 2” (the cool electrode things lit up!), “Schism”, “Parabol” which led to “Parabola” and then they were gone… All that was left was (again) a noisy assed break that lasted about 10-15 minutes. They came back with “Disposition”, “Reflection” and then “Triad”! wow, what an experience, “Triad” rocked not only because it’s a wicked musical piece but because John Stanier set up some percussion and played with the band for the length of the song……I was salivating! But all good things come to an end and eventually so did the show, they finished up with “Lateralus” which ripped me a new one and left me wanting more…….. And then a funny thing happened, as the band saluted the crowd in their usual respectful way, Maynard threw a few water bottles in to the crowd, Danny throws a few drums skins freesbie style into the crowd, One to his right and the other right towards me! I see it coming in slow-mo – before I know it, BAM! it bounces off my index and middle finger leaving me in searing pain, off my buddy sitting next to me and lands right into the arms of some kid 2 seats away from us….damn! My only consolation……the first person to touch that skin after Danny was me!

Amazing SetList: Sober Thegrudge Stinkfist fortysix&2 schism parabol parabola aenema inter triad reflection lateralus Im not sure of this setlist tho I was in Montreal on september 19th and both shows cant be compared ( this one was ALOT better!) . I like the add-on on stinkfist, that was intense. I like that tomahawk drummers on rototom for triad ( even if hes not such a great drummer, he should switch for rototom drumming only :p ) . Sound was alot better than the first show and Maynard did the beginning on the grudge with his natural voice, cuz if you listen to the record of may 4 on deadohiosky you hear that maynard try to make his voice louder for the begin and that sucked. New Dannys Paiste drumkit is ''stunning'' . Standing ovation at the end was pretty cool. Unfortunatly, Maynard didnt stay but the band was really happy. People in ottawa at the mcdonald at the end of the show were laughing at us with our maynardslike paint job in the faces. They just didnt know that they just missed the best events of their lifes. BRAVO Tool, BRAVO sound , BRAVO Visual, BRAVO crowd ( ottawa is better than Montreal by far! ) We did 7 hours of car and spend 500,00 $ in that damn show, but is was the best experience I ever lived. The visuals were amazing (the Alex Grey background was sweet). The sound, down on the floor, was hella loud and Danny's drumming was really making our clothes and insides vibrate. The fucking hairs on my forearms were moving during Triad!!! Truly a different experience than the last tour, sitting in the stands. Once again, holy fiucking shit!!

There is a lack of communication between Maynard and tha crowd. He thank the crowd after the second song. And he did his 'make something positive' speech before Lateralus. That's it !! Maynard give a good show. But the key member and the star of this band still and remain Danny. He is very incredible. He did a little jam before Triad with Tomahawk's drummer. Visually, it is like the old show. We miss the contorsionnist during Schism. The new thing is the fildberries in Parabol. The artwork shown is very nice and stick with the video's mind. They start the show with a projection of the circle of eyes on two giant screen. The crowd immediately get up and scream. The set list was like that (the best that I can remember): Sober The Grudge (-)Ions Stinkfist (extra) H. Well it was definetely worth the 12 hour drive from northern new brunswick to Ottawa. We had decent seats, not too close but we had a good view of the backdrop and projections. Tomahawk's opening performance was very enjoyable, the singer was REALLY into the music and showed very good stage performance, allthough the bass player had the same motion for everything he did. they were all dressed like Ottawa police officers. The singer warmed up the Canadian crowd by singing the Bob & Doug Mackenzie theme (for all you yankees out there, that used to be a series of sketches on SCTV, which was sort of like a Canadian Saturday Night Live, starring Rick Morranis and Dave Thomas) "Coo Loo Coo Coo co Coo coo cooooo, Coo Loo Coo Coo Coo Coo Coo Coooo". There were a few Ignoramuses who thought it would be clever to yell obscenities and taunts to Tomahawk while they were getting off stage, even though they themselves probably couldn't write music half as artistic or creative as theirs... Lighten up fellas will ya? the lights went out as the lateralus eye wheel was being shown on the projections whilst a low bassy grindy sound was playing which made my ribcage vibrate. As this was my first Tool show (but hopefully not last) I was extatic to the point where I was wide eyed and clutching to my seat. I believe that Tools setlist for the night was something like Sober The Grudge 46 & 2 (-) Ions Stinkfist [Extended Version oh how sweet it is] Schism Ænima Parabol Parabola Disposition Reflection Triad [With drum solo beggining] Lateralis There may be a few more but I'm sure my friend will correct me of any mistakes when he posts his review. The crowd was very respectful to Tool and Maynard had thanked us for reminding them why they keep coming to Canada, the sea of fans roared. Tool's backdrop art were stunningly beautiful works of Alex Grey, as well as the sacred mirrors, which were lowered during reflection. They had brought one of the members of Tomahawk to do some preccussion for Triad which was unbelievably astounding. As soon as they faded Parabol into Parabola, they raised some of those grey sphere pods from the video which were approxiametely 8-9 feet in diameter. Tool played a very good show for Ottawa, and I look forward to going to see them again sometime next year.

Once again, Incredible. So tight, it always astonishes me how they can recreate the moments from their records. Setlist is the same as most other shows I've read from this tour. No surprise songs. Except for the drum solo with the Tomahwak drummer, AMAZNIG. Both Danny and (I dont know the other guy's name) were wailin and 100mph for several minutes. The Tomahawk drummer was playing on a standup set of what seemed like rototoms. Crowd was decent, it is Ottawa afterall, everyone is polite. Tomahawk started early! I got there at 7:40pm and they were already thru several songs (I think). Which pissed me off, cause I have their record and like their stuff. Patton was his weird self. putting on a rubber examination glove with red stuff on one of the fingers and picking out crowd members on who he wished to do the next rectal exam. Maynard is god, what control, what a voice. Following the intermission, these two round structures, kind of like a bunch of grapes or something, came floating up from the back of the satge and just hovered in mid air twisting and turning on themselves. That was kinda strange to tell you the truth. Maynard told us to use the emotions we were feeing to do something positive, wether it be in 2 days or 2 years, and the band left after a long group hug. This was the 4th time for me, and Tool were at their tighest I've ever heard them. Inspiring!

I'm 31 and have been going to concerts for 18 years so I feel confident that I can say the following: Tool's show on Saturday night was unbelievable, probably the most amazing music I've ever heard live. It's been two days and I still can't stop thinking about it! These guys don't need to prance around stage to "entertain" you, they just kick your ass with the music and touch you with the mood. I've been to plenty of shows where the music was faster but I've rarely heard anything as aggressive as the sound unleashed on us by Tool. Such complexity and nuances aren't to be found in every band, even less when they play live. For anyone who hasn't seen Tool before (like me until Saturday), get yourself to an arena NOW and let yourself go with the flow.

The set was amazing and inspirational. Maynard told those in attendance to take this experience and create something positive from it and considering the energy those guys created that night the human race will be alright. Tomahawk was amazing but had shitty sound and NO one booed them. I guess we Canadians are to polite eh! Tomahawk doesn't belong on an arena stage so check them out at a smaller venue to witness how great they are. Later toolheads

This show was the best show I ever seen of my life. I saw Tool for the first time in Montreal last september and I was disapointed about a lots of things that I will not take the time to expose. But THIS show at Ottawa was AMAZING. It was PERFECT. My friend and I came from Quebec City -- 5 hours road -- to see Tool again. We were painted like Maynard, half face red, half face black. The visual effects were incredible. they pass the Stinkfist and Parabola video. They played the long version of Stinkfist. I get mad when I ear it, so good version. Maynard held the 30 second Goooooooooooo! in the grudge. Amazing! Maynard played guitar on schism and reflection. Maynard did his usual speach before Lateralus about taking our feelings and emotion at this very moment and creating something positive with it, I love when he say that. Danny was incredible as usual. He broke a stick during Lateralus I think, but nobody saw the difference. DANNY, YOU'LL NEVER STOP TO IMPRESS ME. Adam and Justin did a perfect job too. Adam is the best creative guitarist I ever seen, and the show sound exactly the same as the album. CONGRADULATION GUYS! SEE YOU NEXT YEAR, WHEREVER YOU'LL BE.

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. Hey, im Shawn from Ottawa and finally got to see Tool live and it was much more then i expected. I cant explain the feeling of seein this band perform. The talent is beyond what I could imagine. Especially the drummer Danny Carey!!! This guy is an octopuss on his drums. WOW!!! There concert stage was creative of course, which was expected. There song list was well chosen. There sound was perfectly tuned with no distortion at all. I was extremely impressed by there performances in all songs especially Reflection, but just when i thought i wasnt going to hear my song Tool brought a smile to my face once again as they finished the night with my favourite song Lateralus. The performance and atmosphere from that song just blew me away. Maynard's vocals is by far the best around and he is in my opinion the best singer in the world!!! And i think anyone who has seen a Tool concert would have no problem agreeing! If there was anything to complain about this concert i could only thing I could think is that they didnt play Push It. But they played Lateralus so it didnt matter. So i have to say thanks to Tool and everyone who made them come to Ottawa. No words need to be said about there performance and I hope they tour again sometime, because no one is on Tool's level and it was experience i will never forget in this lifetime. So tour again guys!!! Well i could give my thoughts forever here so ill stop and anyone who pondering whether they should see Tool live go buy a ticket as soon as you can and you will not be disappointed! Well thanks again for coming to Ottawa and will be waiting for another tour or album. Take care, Shawn (*) p.s This review is nothing more than just my opinion and thoughts and if you post this review thankyou.

Toutes ces années d'attente, le show de Montréal manqué et finalement Tool est là. Ils étaient particulièrement en forme et le son était excellent. En ce qui me concerne, Tomahawk n'était qu'une autre période d'attente un peu pénible mais la patience paie! Ils ont joué 46&2.... what a treat!

Well this was my first and hopefully not last Tool concert. They were pretty incredible. Parabol/a was definitely the highlight of the night for me. but Reflection and Triad were amazing too. Lateralus was perfect as the final song played. I have a couple of complaints though. Tomahawk is bizarre and obnoxious. They were not very good at all. Mike Patton is overrated I say. And also the crowd. Tool is not a moshing band. I tried to get up to the front to be as close as I could be to the band. I was about 2 rows back by the time they started playing and the whole crowd became packed extremely tight with people moshing and crowd surfing. A band like Tool needs to be enjoyed by dancing or just standing and listening. Oh and one of my friends caught Maynard's water bottle at the end of the show. I got to drink some of Maynard's water. That definitely ruled. I feel all enlightened now hehe. Anyway, hope to see the guys again when they come by Ontario next time.

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

I'm not going to post the setlist (like every other reviewer surely has) because it didn't vary all that greatly from the previous shows. The biggest problem with the show was the sound not being mixed properly (which Tool really has no control over) - the drums/bass basically drowned out Maynard's vocals, and really made it impossible to hear the lyrics, and in most cases, even the vocal lines. That's really too bad, because a city like Ottawa does not see a band of Tool's caliber very often. There was no real interaction with the crowd - Maynard addressed the crowd twice, but not once did he step down from his platform at the back of the stage... To the casual fan(which I am not), this was the biggest disappointment. The twin video screens really complemented the music, and the coordination/timing with the songs was very impressive. The lighting was also really well done. Musically, some of the highlights included: -> "Disposition/Reflection/Triad", especially the latter, which is enhanced when played live -> "Sober", which really got the crowd going at the outset -> "Grudge", which had excellent video accompaniment Personally, I greatly enjoyed the show from beginning to end, though I was disappointed by the fact that for the last 45 minutes, I didn't even see Maynards's upper body (due to some of the extra banners etc. that they dropped down). Tool in concert is an extremely intense/spiritual/emotional experience. Given the opportunity, I would definitely see them for a second time. However, I am a very avid fan, and I'm not sure if the average fan at the show would agree with me.

The show was amazing, but it wasn't what I expected. I was impressed with Tomahawk at some parts, other parts were loud and annoying. Overall, they put on a good show and I would probably buy their cd. Although tool is my favorite band, I dont think it was worth the money I paid. I was in the floor area and, unfortunately, was concentrating more on not getting trampled or kicked in the head by crowd surfers and moshers, which ruined the whole atmosphere. The music was awe-inspiring, and the entire show I just stood their, constantly scanning the stage and admiring the artists behind the music, which was satisfying enough, but definitely not worth the 60 bucks I paid for the ticket. My advice to people who want to go for the experience: get seats. I also think that tool could have enhanced the show by acknowledging the crowd a bit more. Danny was the only one who looked like he actually wanted to be there. I would definitely see them again because they are a truly amazing band, but if they play again, I will remember to buy seat tickets, lol.

The set list as close as I can remember it was: SOber The Grudge Stinkfist 46 & 2 Schism Parabol Parabola Intermission (Ions??) Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus The visual effects were amazing, from the two giant molcules hovering backstage to the imagery on the screens dropped from the celing. One thing that i thought that reallt added to the show was during Dispostion when it began to snow tiny red squares from the roof..... How do you make a stadium full of Tool fans stop moshing and hold their hands up to the air?? Up until i saw them live i was convinced that Danney Carey had four arms, but after seeing them live i know that he really i just an amazing drummer...... the best alive right now as far as i am concerned... All said and done it was a great show and i am looking forward to seeing them in Cananda again hopefully.... On one of the few occasions when Maynard spoke to the crowd he said "Now i know why we keep coming back to Canada...." Well i say keep coming!!! And i am sure many other Canadiands would agree..... Steve White, Corner Brook, NF PS CLosing with Lateralus FUCKING ROCKED!!

The wait through the opener for Tool to come on was worth it. It was my first Tool show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've seen other rock bands (Metallica, Nugent, Rolling Stones) and no one does it like Tool. Truly unique, the band members are EXCELLENT musicians. There was an awesome drum solo, but the entire show had great drumming. They were amazing players. The band even thanked the crowd for reminding them why they come to Canada. They better come to Canada. I recommend the show to anyone even slightly interested in seeing them. If Maynard and the boys read this stuff, keep up the great work. Your music is great.

Tahmahawk opened for Tool, which I found them not all that good. They had good drum and guitar parts in the songs, but the lead singer sounded like he was pissed and had this really annoying scream. Anyways... The lights dimmed with the Lateralus eye burning in the jumbo screen. Then the guys appeared in a red misty light *which looked awsome*. I couldnt really tell, but I think Maynard was sporting the mohawk with a black line down his face. I'm sure he was wearing highway patrolman pants and boots on too. They opened up with Sober, which was really done well. Then went on to play Stinkfist, Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Aenima, Eulugy, and more. The best parts had to be when they played Stinkfist and Parabol/Parabola and had the videos playing in the jumbo screens, perfectly played along with the songs. They had the Alex Grey artwork posted everywhere on stage and very kool images going on in the screens. In the end I walked away very pleased. An awsome concert!

I traveled over 350 miles from lower NY to see TOOL with high expectations but I would have to admit that I wasn't thrilled. I will admit that perhaps my perspective is different from others who might read this. I was not a huge fan of the Lateralus album, actually it took me almost a year before I was able to enjoy it to certain degree. A good portion of this particular concert was from said album which I have to say sounded great. My biggest complaint was with the older songs...the ones that a lot of these newbies to TOOL might not have heard. The opened with Sober, which to me was unexpected. However, the general performance of the whole thing sucked. The same went for Stinkfist and Aenema. The last was probably the worst...the tempo was cut in half and it was just bad all around. I understand that TOOL is putting effort towards promoting the success of their latest album but the same quality and effort should be given to their other work as well. My last complaint is with the twenty minute instrumental set. I'm not standing within a crowd of hundreds of sweaty people for that. I love TOOL and I've been a fan for almost ten years but NO band is that good to pull something like that off. I heard various comments from other concert goers at the end of the show...such as "That wasn't a concert, that was like a really weird bad movie." A part of me has to agree with that...but I commend TOOL for wanting to express themselves musically and spirtually.

(danny with tomahawks drummer) that was my highlight of the night, as i'm sure it was for most people. Lateralis, incredible, the best song possible to end with. The lighting and visuals were so awesome. Wow...this show was unreal...if you haven't seen them yet...you have to...go buy tickets now! if theyre sold out, buy them from scalpers. i woulda payed $100 bucks to see this show. Thank You Tool!

This was my first Tool show, and certainly NOT my last. I'm only tweleve so I begged my sister to take me, and she did. She doesn't like Tool, but she took me anyway. Despite the Corel Centre being extremely hot, I had a great time. Tool's sound was amazing, the lighting was wonderful, and the setlist was fucking great. The crowd made the experiance even more wonderful. I thought they were going to play a lot of songs off of Lateralus, suprisingly they played quite a few songs off of their previous albums. I was so happy when they played Aenema. Aenema live is fucking awesome. I especially liked it when they had the 'three rings' going all over the crowd during Aenema to emphasize the "three ring circus sideshow of freaks" Sorry if you missed out on this great concert.

I traveled all the way to Ottawa from Newfoundland to see this show, it was worth it, Tool are fucking amazing, Tomahawk were good too, it was really high energy and i tripped out really bad during that song where Danny came out. During Lateralus (last song) I was fucking losing my mind, i was right in the heart of the pit and completely soaked but it was worth it to be that cvlose to the band. If Tool ever comes to Ontario again I will fly up, loved Ottawa and oved Tool even more, thanks guys.

i decided to post a better review since my previous one was written while i was half awake, tomahawk were very very good, i actually lost most of my energy during their set from flipping out constantly, the crowd didnt seem to care very much but they also werent disliked or anything, i never heard the crowd boo them, and they cheered after each song was over and when mike patton spoke. tomahawk were dressed as police officers and patton claimed they were the ottawa police dept. and that they were very drunk, so to watch out, because theyd be escorting everyone from the building after the show and werent afraid to do a rectal exam, this followed with several audience members, including me and my friend, raising their hands, volunteering themselves to mike pattons waving finger. since this is a tool site, most probably dont care about what tomahawk were like so in that case....TOO BAD...im saying it anyways, they were great and my favourite songs of the night were god hates a coward and laredo. jockstrap was great and a perfect song to open with. props to mike patton and friends on the deer with the microphone in front of it, it made up for the absence of the fat guys in diapers, although i had to fight the tears knowing they werent showing up, danny carey (drum god) showed up during one song to play on a mixer board thingy. tomahawk were done after about 45 min. tops, which was followed by a long long moment of anticipation by the 10,000+ in attendance, for maynard and friends. the lights went out, and the place erupted, i was close enough to smell justin (he smelled damn good), as justin, adam, and danny entered the stage and set up, maynard of course was last to enter, the lateralus spiral logo was on the big screens as a few minutes passed before justin kicked off sober, this made the arena go crazy of course, sober was amazing, much like every other song, fuck, they sound so perfect live, maynard wasnt facing the audience for most of the show, but thats fine by me, after sober was the grudge which was maybe my favourite performance of the night, maynard was going a little crazy during it which many of us enjoyed, maynard also hit the long scream/yell at the end and hit it right on the noggin. stinkfist and 46 & 2 followed, both were extended a little bit and both were great. adam and justin opened up schism with the familiar guitar and bass chords playing off of each other. schism was slowed down a bit and it was dare i say, even better, maynard played guitar on it and the song was also extended. parabola followed and the crowd was just dying to come alive at the loud part, and the crowd did just that, aenema followed parabola, a soon as maynard started doing the "hey, hey, hey" the place erupted, and the crowd was definately the most intense for this one, as was i, a 10 to 15 min. intermission followed, before tool came back and broke into disposition, for some mellow magic, reflection followed as danny played the amazing drumbeat that i love to play on my set all the time, i was hoping tool would play triad to see how they do it all live and after reflections captivating magic, i got my wish, triad was incredible, it had to have been at least 20 min. long and tomahawks drummer joined them for the performance, danny was incredible, just watching it him made me blow my load at least 2 dozen times, speaking of orgasmic experiences, or lack of, rather, unfortunately for the ladies (and some of the fellas) maynard didnt strip down at all during the show, but ah well, maybe next time, tool finished the show with lateralus which sounded just like the album, like every other song, once again performed amazing, before the song, the band all crowded around dannys drumset which was cool to see some unity, as the rest of the show they were far apart, the unity which followed the show was maybe my favourite part of the night, as after the show was done, the crowd went insane, the band came to the front of the stage and did a big group hug, they were all smiles after this as they threw out various items, including water bottles, and danny throwing his drumsticks and extra drum skins, which i unfortunately didnt catch but almost did a few times, my friend, the lucky bastard, caught maynards water bottle though all in all an incredible show, i had been waiting for about 3 years to see tool live and it was definately worth the wait, tomahawk opening made it even better since im a pretty big mike patton fan, thank you to tool, for giving me something very special that ill never forget, this was an amazing experience for me and despite being a little bummed that its over, im sure theyll be back one day, and ill be right there in the front row once again, looking on at the magic these 4 guys create when theyre together, thank you maynard, adam, justin, and danny, thank you kindly

Well what a great show, and it all started right when i heard 72 days ago when i saw on DeadOhioSky.net that tool would actually be playing Ottawa, my favourite band in this small little city of mine! Nobody comes here! Anyways onto the show we arrived a few hours early where we went out to see the tour bus, they had pilons set up all over the place and a roadie was riding down the hill on a wheel chair with his feet on a scooter directing him around the pilons. Justin was on a bike watching him and then after we saw adam walking from the stadium to the tour bus with a chapters bag in his hand and he acknowledged our existance and waved to us. My dumbass friend cheered, but he's a dumbass. Cool to see them before the show. Tomawhawk was great and the crowd seemed real receptive and cheered them a lot. Mike claimed they were the ottawa police force and they were real drunk then he insulted some people which was great too. Danny came out and made some cool noises with them. Real great band. Tool of course was just fantastic, no need to get into the set design and the songs because well you have to see it for urself no point in ruining the experience. Maynard was in a police uniform which was cool to see and he spoke a bit, Adam seemed in a better mood then i've ever seen him before and he was actually moving around. At the end they cheered us on Maynard gave us the OK symbol and Adam Justin and Danny cheered us on for a while. I caught Maynard's waterbottle and well i guess thats cool, its found a nice place on my counter since then. Thank you Tool for comming to Ottawa and sharing that moment with us. Please come back soon.

Well, I guess all that should be said has been said. I liked the show....but I do think that it would have been a better experience if you played somewhere atop the rolling gatineau foothills, so all the sounds and screams could echo and make for a good night. I liked the visuals, but unfortunately, because I am a poor, poor student, I could only afford 300 level seats, so the sound wasn't as good as it could have been if I was on the floor...right? I always like to hear tool's music, so a concert of tool is fun....I particularly enjoyed the guitar.....which, to me, served as a backup singer to maynard....have some chamomille tea with honey pal.....'cause your voice sounds wrecked. Thanks for coming to Ottawa, we all appreciate your long treck and come again.....you can stay at my place....HA!

What's to say that hasn't been said? Completely exhilirating experience. (Did anyone else see them with only a few hundred people in Porter Hall at Carlton U. in Feb. 1994? Those were the days!) First of all: Faith No More were awesome, Helmet were awesome and Tomahawk is awesome! What a great sense of humour they have, I think all you haters should get one too! An innovative and new style of music by four very talented musicians. I liked it. Then Tool...unbelievable! So good that I jumped in the car on Sunday and went to Hamilton to see Tool, part two. Tool twice in two nights = highly recommended! The floor was sold out in Steeltown so it was seats for a somewhat more relaxing experience. If you can, take the floor. The sound is louder and the view is better. Either way, you can't lose though. Maynard was more talkative in Hamilton, they got "H" instead of "46&2" and both Mike and John came out for the surreal "Triad". "Inside the Outside" tour 2002...a truly holy place and time to be alive. If anyone is listening...PLEASE GIVE US SALIVATING FANS A CONCERT DVD. Now I'm off home to "be positive, write poetry, sit in front of a fire and have sex...with myself or someone else" MJK- you crack me up. KEEP IT GOING...

Ha ha ha ha Yet again completly amazing. I was quite amazed that people where cheering tomahawk. People were threating them in sacramento they hated them so much. I thought they were amazing for the 5th time. Maynard must be having problems with the hectic touring schedule cause they played longer at the first 4 shows of the tour and this being the 33rd in a month and a half it was missing a couple songs (flood, the patient). But I'm defenitly not complaining. Also whats with maynard having his back to the crowd? He faced us the entire time in california. Plus it was weird seeing him fully clothed for the whole show. The cop outfit was a nice touch though. Defenitly the best band on the planet with the most amazing drummer ever. I don't know what happened to TOOL, but it's sad. The show was horrible for the most part. lateralus is a horrible artsy fartsy album and TOOL have turned into hippies with there message of love and hugging. I thought that I was going to puke. What happened to the aggressive TOOL from ænima and Undertow. Why are they focusing so much on this new crap when they have such a good library of music. And everyone has been going on and on about the visuals, there not that great after awhile you get tired of watching looped computer animation. And if watching that crap wasn't bad enough Maynard never came out of his shadow. After hearing about last years show in Montreal and Toronto I was glad that I didn't go, and the show their doing now is pretty much a carbon copy of last years, the only reason I when was because I didn't have to travel far. If I had to travel far to see this show I'd be pretty upset with what I got. TOOL should really consider calling it quits after this tour because I don't think they have what they use to have anymore. I do think it is pretty gutsy for a band to play 80% new stuff on a tour though. I can't think of a concert I've been to that the band played only their new stuff and didn't play any of their older songs for their long time fans. My god you could have played a couple more songs of Undertow couldn't you. Or at least a song of Opiate. Are you just abandoning all the music that started your career. Because if you think for a second anyone would know who TOOL was if you released lateralus as your first album, your crazy. No one would listen to that crap if you weren't already big. Pretty sad. I'll give you credit for being one of the only good bands who would play Ottawa though. Thanks for the experience. After saying all that, this is what echos in my head: 'I sold my soul to make a record, Dip shit, And you bought one.' -TOOL

Hey everyone Tool is such an amazing band. It's great to see a band that's actually got the balls to put on such an interesting show, and treat all their fans to not just a "concert" that night, but a complete and fulfilling musical experience. Another thing i can say is that i'm glad i was there for Tool, because if i hadn't been, i would've missed out on one of the best concerts Ottawa's ever been able to have, that's how good it was. Now, i guess i should admit, i wasn't the biggest Tool fan before the concert, i only heard schism (of course) and sober (staind did a cover of it and it was kinda cool) The only reason i was there at the tool show is because i somehow (about a year ago) got a job selling merch for the Corel Centre, and they called me in a few weeks ago to ask if i wanted to work for it, and i said hell yeah. I mean, it's nice to work for a concert where it's not for 40 year old men (moody blues, bob dylan) or where people are all dressed up like cowboys and saying "y'all" (allan jackson, tim mcgraw). Most of the night i was busy selling t-shirts (my stand was on the second level concourse) but even from my stand the sound quality was pretty good. The t-shirts for the show were pretty cool, we were selling two black t-shirts, with the tour dates on the back, and two white shirts, with cool designs on the back. We also sold a pretty expensive black sweater but it was kinda cool. Oh and we had a couple Tomahawk things as well. Thanks, by the way, to all the fans that came to the stand, i didn't have to deal with any assholes which sometimes happens when you sell t-shirts at concerts (drinking beer and seeing high prices for t-shirts tends to make people angry usually). Everyone that came to the merch stand were nice, so again, thanks. Of course every once in a while when i had the chance, i walked down one of the tunnels into the arena-part, and it was like BAM! All the lights and the loud music really hits ya. I was on the second level, so i could see the entire mosh pit jumping (which you won't see often at big concerts at the corel centre) and there were a couple of crowdsurfers. Even up on the second level, people looked like they were having a good time (lotta people smokin). Another thing i noticed is people came pretty damn far to see this show, a lot of people from quebec and even the maritimes came to see it, so i thought that was pretty cool. Anyways i don't have the setlist, I just wanted to write up a little something so people got a "diferent perspective" on the concert, from someone who actually worked for it. For sure, though, if Tool comes back anywhere around here, i'll be actually going to the show and enjoying it with all you guys. LOL, The one thing that sucked was i gave the cutest girl and her three freinds a ride to the bustop after the show and i never got her name, all i know is she was from new brunswick, i think. she was so cute.... anyways, overall, a very good night. tool frikin rocks, stinkfist is a wicked song, and i hope they come back just as much as everyone else does.

A magnificent applause to the performers: Maynard, Danny, Adam & Justin. My sister and I had bought the tickets on the first day of sells and got seats in the section 120. They were not so good because the guards would keep on bloking the view when poeple would arive to check theyr tickets. Tomahwk played aprox. 5 songs which were "softer" and that were fun. I found they had a good diversity in the songs presented. I especialy like the electronic parts. Then we waited. At one point the ambiance music sounded louder and stressfull showing that Tool would soon begin. Two screens were installed high enough on each side of the stage. The image appeared on both screens. It was a circle composed of many images of the flaming . Sober played. Sound quality was verry good I loved the whole thing. They had a great screen behind the stage with some Alex Grey paintings. There was baloons and smoke and a disco ball for lateralus the last song. It really rocked me.... linda

Sadly this was my first ever concert, best said by on of my travellers Crazy_Diamond666 "this is going to suck for you, you will never ever see anything this good again". This is true, there is no way in hell this performance could ever be topped, the animated visuals, the performance by Tomahawk during the opener and thier drummer throughout Triad, because oh my christ I have never heard anything so beautiful. Everything from Maynards speech to the sweet sound of Danny's feet this was the greatest experience of my life. By performing like this Tool becomes more then just an amazing band, but more like a fucking religion, one that truely exsists.
