Sober Grudge Stinkfist (different lyrics and extended jam) H. Schism Parabol/a Opiate -break- Reflection Disposition Triad (With tamohawk... the whole band) Lateralus Great show all around. They had so much energy. After Lateralus adam just took of his guitar and staired out at the crowed that was all standing on their feet aplauding and cheering, i think it amazed him.... anyway. great show.

Holy Crap! Amazing show! Me and my bro in law went, and let me tell you, it was great. 4 band members, true playing, perfect harmony, and kick ass rock was what this show was all about. They didn't try to fool you with stage effects or crazy showmanship, just nothing but the real TOOL at its best. I've been listening to TOOL since 95, and seing them in the flesh was about the most amazing experiance I've ever had! You've seen the set list, and you've heard the albumes, now its show time! It was great. Could have been louder, but still worth the wait. I wish it would have floored my car stereo, but we can't have everything. Its alll bueno!!! Giddy up Paul

An incredible show once again, with some spectacular set-pieces. There was an extended jam and alternate lyrics for Stinkfist, which was fabulous. Disposition, Reflection and Triad took almost a 1/2 hour to play out, and it was a very moving experience! It was kind of a shame that I was on the floor this time. It was packed to the gills, I like to move and there was no place to go and plenty of assholes. Shirtless freaks racing to the mosh pit for the heavy parts of songs, then punching people on their way back to buy more beer. Thankfully, the music more than made up for it. Maynard wore a black speedo and had a black stripe painted on his head. He took off his tight black outfit after one number, delclaring "I wasn't going to take my shit off, but seeing as how you're all doing it, I figured I'd join in. But by all means, continue. Many men and women stripped from the waist up, but it probably would have seemed more enlightening if most of them weren't so visibly fucked up. So, a great show, and it was wonderful to be so close to the gentlemen in the band, but next time I hope to get a seat where I can more easily drink in the profundity of Tool. Their shows are as close to religious experiences as you are likely to find.

The setlist is correct in the first post (Saint Jude's post). This was my first concert ever, and I'm happy I saw Tool. Happy isn't the right word, however. Ecstatic and overwhelmed is more accurate. Tomahawk wasn't too great, although I really was getting into one of the songs they played near the end of their set. They also were not booed off, so I think we had a fairly peaceful crowd here in St. Paul (apparently Patton thought he was in Minneapolis). Two of the highlights for me were H. and Triad. I never thought that H. would make a good concert song, but believe me, it was great, and the crowd was into it. Sober, Opiate, and Stinkfist were all great surprises; opening with Sober was a classic. Got the crowd ready and roaring right away. Maynard was very talkative tonight, and he made some comments concerning 9/11. Paraphrasing: We were thinking of a way to commemorate the tragedy. Not to stand in line like sheep, and give up our civil liberties, but rather to love one another and remember the victims, etc. I also liked the deer stunt at the beginning, and the "Make- A-Wish" Kid joke. Overall, this experience blew me away. I will be able to live with something more from now on, since being to this great concert. As Maynard said, he wanted us to leave either ispired, maybe healed in some way, or extremely horny...

Setlist: Intro/Static Sober Grudge Stinkfist (extended/elvis) H Schism Parabol/Parabola Opiate Intermission Disposition Reflection Triad (with Tomahawk) Lateralus Very awesome show. Tomahawk were interesting... Of course everyone there probably thought they sucked, but oh well. I enjoyed them more than Meshuggah. Maynard and Danny came out during their set--excuse me--Reverand Maynard. Danny worked the weird electronic noises, and Maunard told us about the evils of beastiality and such, followed by a guy in a deer outfit humping the fake deer they had behind the drummer. Mike Patton went on to "have sex" with the deer. And Tomahawk ended their set with a slow jazzy number, which was pretty damn funny. A long while after, Tool finally went on. Anyone who's been to a Tool concert recently knows that SOUND they open with, followed by Justin and Adam making some freaky ass static noises. Then they went into Sober.... ( ^setlist^ ) After Grudge, maynard said, "Minnesota... Are you sure?... Sounds more like Wisconsin..." You can imagine the audience's response to that. I was happy to hear H finally. Although the crowd didnt seem to do their part, which would be the 'I dont mind' part... Ah well. Before Opiate, Maynard talked about how we should honor the memory of the people that died on Sept. 11th, by not giving up our civil rights. And he said the classic Tool motto, "Think for yourself, question authority." He actually said that numerous times in the down part of Opiate. Then they had a 20 minute intermission with this overwhelming bass/feedback/static thing... During Triad, I think everyone from Tomahawk was out there. Mike Patton and some other guy were working the keyboard, and there were 2 people playing back up percussion. It was really awesome. They got done and maynard thanked them for coming out and playing with them and everything, and thanked the crowd and stuff, and said he hope we felt inspired, and horny, and to go home and have sex. Although, what he said that was most disconcerting to me, was "...see you on the other side." For whatever reason that left me with a bad feeling. They ended with Lateralus, and after they literally picked up Maynard from his stage and hugged... They did a whole lot of waving also... Let's hope that at some point, maybe a few years from now, we will see Tool again. Atleast in DVD format.

much better show this tour than last. not only did i get to see tomahawk, but i was on the floor instead of some bunk seats this time. tomahawk was great except for the few retards that didnt like them and decided it would be great to throw stuff, but i imagine patton wouldnt have it any other way. the reindeer humping was a good time, and mike was yelling at some morons off the mic cutting on him in between lines in songs...great... and tool was magnificent, of course...i think this has become my fav show, it passed up the chicago show from may of last year. i am glad to say that i got to witness H. live....that was beautifully done. aley grey's artwork combined with the little bits of video i was able to see (being in the 2nd row of people most of the time) was pretty much the most perfect backdrop ever...it rivaled that of the NIN Fragility tour set. and to finish off the show, i was unbelievably close to obtaining one of danny's sticks, i was in a group of like 5 guys all with a hand around it...it came down to me and one other guy. my hand hurts and we came away with the stick. oh, well ... witnessing genious was good enough, i suppose.

OF COURSE, AS EXPECTED, TOMAHAWK STOLE THE SHOW! MOST OF YOU RETARDS DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT WAS THE GREAT MIKE PATTON ON VOCALS, YOU STUPID SHEEP. MAYNARD HATES YOU AND YOU MAKE HIM RICH. MOSHERS AND SLAM DANCING IS FOR HOMOS. MAYNARD HATES TOOL FANS, THAT IS WHY HE STANDS IN THE BACK AND DOESN'T FACE THE CROWD. YOU IMBECILES. I HATE TOOL FANS TOO. THEY ARE IGNORANT NEANDERTHALS WHO BEAT EACHOTHER DURING DISPOSITION OR PARABOL. ACT OUT YOUR HOMOSEXUAL AGGRESSION AT HOME. YOU COMPLETELY MISS THE MEANING OF THE MUSIC YOU ASSMUNCH. LONG LIVE TOOL AND TOMAHAWK. AS FOR THEIR FANS, DIE.

I won't bother putting the setlist up because it's already been put up twice. Needless to say, it was great! It is so conforting to hear that they truly do sound that good live - that they're not just some studio product. The sound was greeat. I don't know if it's all Tool or the fact that it is at the Xcel Energy Center vs. (the shitty sounding) Target Center. The Xcel is brand new and sounds great. I'm sure it's a little bit of both. I'm sure that if Tool played at the Target Center that it wouldn't sound as good (the sound quality, that is - I know Tool themselves would sound just fine) Tomahawk was OK. I enjoyed them more than Meshuggah. Although, when you really think about it, finding a band to open for Tool has got to be tough. Finding a band that "fits" Tool is hard to do. I mean, you could do NIN (which could headline their own tour vs. opening for Tool), but Tomahawk was short which got us to Tool that much faster. :) I must say, I was pretty amazed/dissapointed that they didn't play 46 & 2. I purposely didn't read any concert reviews for the past month+ because I want to be surprised at what songs were played. I don't like sounding like a "mainstreamer" about them not playing it - but that song has SO much energy (especially that ending!) When they played it last year it was AMAZING!!! At least I got to see it then. On the other hand I was totally thrilled that they played Opiate. I love that song and I didn't expect to hear it. Thanks guys! Their artwork was great. I was surprised that they didn't make use of the video screens in the center of the arena (like they did last year). Well, if you were there then I know you had to of enjoyed it. If you weren't there then that's a bummer. If you're gonna see them in an upcoming concert then have fun. Maynard also suggested during the show to go home, take a VHS of ? and then have sex. Then he offered another suggestion - to maybe have someone there with you. Maybe I'll go do that...maybe my wife will even join me. :)

As I sit here and reflect on what I have seen, I feel the need to share with others who perhaps are going to share their reflections, or those who were not fortunate enough to see the show. After that long run-on sentence, let the review begin... We got to the X about 6:50 or so. Tomahawk was on shortly after that and while I was expecting MUCH less, I was pleasantly surprised. Although I couldn't understand Mike Pattons vocals, partly of the screaming, partly of the seats, I liked the music and didn't think that they were as vad as everyone else had said. After Tomahawk was done, there was a 40 minute or so set up for Tool. Their stage setup was very much the same, however Maynard was more visible due to less screens around him. We were in Section 201, right behind Danny so we had a good shot of everything, except for the banners that were unfurled towards the end. I won't post a setlist because I am sure someone will or has. Maynard talked alot more to the crowd, and it was nice to be able to see him dancing around, doing his thing, and even playing a little guitar! I wished they would've played Aenima, but I guess no one gets EVERYTHING they want. Overall, the show was amazing. Good song selection. I know alot of people bitch about there not being alot off of Opiate or Undertow but it is a LATERALUS tour. I mean, come on. Triad was amazing. H was amazing. Opiate was amazing. For someone not posting a setlist I almost did. Anyway, it is late. I am tired. Bye.

In response to a previous question: the videotape Maynard recommended watching during one's solo (or preferably shared) tryst was 'Caligula.' Once again Tool did not disappoint. Sundry others have described the show quite well. I don't really have anything to add other than it was some of the best and subtlest magick I've ever experienced. Not as much overt occult symbolism as last year's show, although the Qabalistic Tree of Life diagram was displayed during Parabola and a massive seven-pointed star descended behind the band for the last few songs. On a slightly more tangential note: From my vantage point (near the stage and up a few rows) I watched a constant stream of people, mostly women and small guys, being bodysurfed over the front few rows to security and then escorted to a safer place because they just couldn't handle the heat, the fists, or whatever. It was also a good place to laugh at the mindless frantic moshing idiots who suddenly found themselves at a loss during songs like Reflection. I spent some time pondering why anyone who really wanted to experience Tool would bother suffering through a floor like that, but then it occurred to me that you need corrals for cows, horses, sheep, and other herd animals.

- Sober - Grudge - Stinkfist (Extended w/New Lyrics) - H. - Schism - Parabol/a - Opiate - Intermission - Reflection - Disposition - Triad w/Special Guests...Tomahawk - Lateralus I can't really describe in words how the experience was, the only thing that comes to mind was total enlightenment. The set list could'nt of been any better, I was really giddy at first when maynard announced to, "think for yourself, question authority". What firt came to mind was, this sounds like opening for third eye, but I was mistaken to actually to be opiate, which was still a zesty treat in its own. I'm not sure if it was me but Im certain that they played "Hush" but I'm not totally positive. During "H." at the climax, about everyone from section 150 or so was bull running through security. Fuck yeah is all I could really think, It was uplifting actually seeing passionate fans proceeding with action on what they loved and loathed. Every song that was played I had already assumed from reading a lot of the reviews but it was just the fact of, well what if they play this that excited me. I loved the depature of the show, maynards closing words, hoping that we felt inspired, maybe a little healed, and or horny. And that was it for me right there, I could have died and it wouldnt of mattered, seeing that show was the best decision I have ever made in my musical experiencing career. Go see Tool and go see them NOW! For anybody who is going to the show in Denver, Colorado. I will look forward to share that experience as well. Thank you to the band, and thank you to the small percentage of fans who actually knew what was going on rather than just sitting there indulging on many many beers and whatever mind altering substance people could get they;re hands on. thank you, fuck you. peace

What is there to say? Hope is a powerful thing, they say, and tonight was no different. I had hoped I'd see the good Reverend. I got that. I had hoped to see Mike Patton assraped. I got that. It wasn't that I hate his music, it's just that hey, it's a funny thought. I had hoped I'd get 46 & Two and Ænema. I got neither. While H. and Opiate were both spectacular... I just was hoping for the other two in the set. However, what I'd hoped for most was ticks & leeches... and dammit, I ALMOST got it. If anyone was a little curious, Danny was playing the intro beat for t&l during Maynard's 9/11 speech... and I think it would have been fitting there, as well, but alas... all I got was a slowed down version of a great great song. As far as the show is concerned, the list was already posted, so I won't go into detail, but Sober, The Grudge (which was never my favorite track on Lateralus, but has since moved up in my estimation), and Parabol/a were all great, and the new intros for Schsm and Parabol were quite interesting. However, the Trilogy is what I truly felt. For the entire second set I could feel the tension building as Danny, Adam, Maynard, and Justin built through Disposition and Reflection... but when the drums for Tomahawk came out... I knew it was time. As Triad progressed, it seemed obvious that someone at the mixer was having a lot of fun, and Danny (with a little help) built the stadium to an absolute fever pitch. Even in my first tier seat, I could feel the entire crowd pulsate and move. And then, suddenly, it stopped. The lights held, and as Tomahawk left, Danny stood up to a roar from an audience I have never heard. And then came Lateralus. The backdrops were unbelievable, and when the lights were brought out to their full glory and amazing use... it felt like an experience. Having said that, there's only a couple problems I had. The first is the dumbfuck son of a bitch that wouldn't sit down. There were no problems seeing anything from where we were, there was no need to stand. My second complaint: you stupid bastards that have to talk to each other IN THE STADIUM on CELL PHONES. Lazy fucks. The last one is for the bitch behind us that apparently didn't know how to conduct herself in public, let alone at a concert. Some of us happen to like sitting and taking in the show, INCLUDING the slow, quiet parts, and occasionally even LISTENING to what the singer has TO SAY. So next time you fucking scream or whistle in my ear, I'm cleaning your clock. All around, a great show from 8 talented musicians (yes, tomahawk is in there) and a guy in a deer suit. I still have "Spiral out... keep... going" stuck in my head and it's been 6 hours now...

Yeah. Well, let's see. 4th time seeing them. Must say, the worst I think and don't really ever NEED to see them again. Maybe I have grown out of them but I really have some issues with these guys now. The music was mediocre and a rehash of the same stuff they have been doing all year. The big group hugs. The lame advice from Maynard. I mean, your fans are stupid. Get over it, asshole. I like to think I still have a sense of humor, but the joke isn't funny anymore. Come up with a new way to make money, guys. I know you are rock stars and have needed to be. Great. Kids are dumb and have money. Wow. What a concept. Stunning. Neat. I can't say. after sitting next to a bunch or TOOL fans, that I would really do any different as far as marketing the show to these people. I would screw them till their grandmother felt it in her cold, wet grave. Just annoying and boring to be a part of. The songs were OK. Some little screw up's hither and thither (Adam), and Maynard seemed to be struggling a wee bit. Although he covered it well for the most part. Danny was on but for some reason his drumming lacked the presence I am used to hearing from them live. Really messy sound overall. The delays in the speakers seemed like they were set up by interns. I don't think there is anybody else... OH WAIT!!!! The long haired guy that could just as well be playing from under the stage! I think he plays the flute. Well, whatever. He is a good musician but entirely forgetable live. Sorry. Set list was a sleeper. Highlight: "Reflection/Disposition" Thank god for those two songs. I was in a waking dream for about 12 minutes. I may have just been dulled into submission by the previous 13 minute noise loops created by Adam and Justin. What garbage! Definition of success: Being able to do what TOOL did tonight and still be millionares. that is all.

Definition of success: Correctly spelling millionaires! The show was absolutely amazing! They delivered everything I expected of them and plenty to spare. The two backdrops they used could probably be described as "breathtaking". The performance, as well as, the sound were perfect, or I was just too excited and taken by the music, lighting, and videos to notice any major flaws in the brilliant art that poured from the speakers. I had heard the slightly different version of "H" in a previous show and was glad to hear it again tonight (sorry, last night. I haven't slept yet). But, what really got my attention were the added lyrics and altered arrangement to "Stinkfist", it was really sweet and, also, very unexpected. If anyone knows if there is a bootleg (free/downloadable, of course) of this version of "Stinkfist" let me know, please. I want to hear it again really bad. So, to wrap it up, the show was amazing and really almost too much to "take in" at once. I could write about this show all morning but, short and sweet should do the job. There were quite a few really good reviews above this one and I enjoyed reading them, except the ones that seem to suggest themes similar to "Hooker with a Penis", I won't comment on those.

Amazing evening...better, in my opinion, than last year's show here in MN. H and Opiate were, as always, definite highlights (BTW, when these songs came up it was interesting to see the confusion on the faces of those teen- and twenty-something drunk, bubble-gum-chewing, nachos- munching pseudo-fans around us who haven't moved beyond Schism and Ænema). The visuals were really nicely done...not quite as unique as last year's Osseus Labyrint, for example, but in many ways more beautiful. Great to see some new video for tracks like Schism and Parabol/a. I gotta send some positive energy out to Mike Patton and Tomahawk...I thought they were actually pretty good. They've been getting dissed in a big way here and it doesn't appear to be justified. As so many others have said here before: just give 'em a chance! They may be a bit bizarre -- c'mon people, it's Mike Patton -- but if you just listen instead of close yourself off, repeatedly scream "YOU SUCK!!!" and take another bite of your nachos, you're missin' out. These guys are workin' their asses off up there...Christ, Mike and the rest of the band even helped tear down their set instead of hangin' out backstage doing the rock star thing. Patton's vocals are amazing...with two and sometimes three different mics in hand and a full mixer setup at his disposal, he was doing some amazing things! The gas mask wired for sound was a trip...for those of you in Omaha, Ames, and Moline: Give 'em a listen! Other highlights: ** During the Tomahawk set, Reverend Maynard preaching on the sins of beastiality...as some guy in a deer costume was giving it to the deer lawn ornament behind the drums, the Reverend shouted "Can I get an Amen!! Can I get a Hallelujah!!! Can I get a JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!!!!" ** Tomahawk having the balls to end their 35-minute set with a slow, sultry, jazz lounge number. Mike introduces it by saying something like "We've got one more song for ya...if nothing else, it will make you realize just how good TOOL really is!" ** The intense bass-fed feedback and accompanying video that made up the intermission (I know most people hated it, but...). As I sat back and took it in, I began to almost feel like I was in some sort of other sub-atomic world where this incredible sound was made by the machines whirling and spinning in space...I thought it was great! ** Disposition / Reflection and, most of all, Triad. An incredible jam with some FANTASTIC visuals to go with it. Having Tomahawk up there blasting away was a nice touch. The rhythm of the song was phenomenal. Which brings me to the true highlight... ** Danny Carey. What can ya say? This guy is fucking amazing. I know that to say this is becoming a bit worn out but, as a drummer myself, watching him perform is something that has to be seen to be believed. Truly a gift from the drumming gods... Lookin' forward to 2003...

GOOD EVENING, SINNERS! This is damn far down, but i'm beating my Bro to it so... lets start with the bullSHIT (since there wasn't much)- Tomahawk- Good fer a laugh, bad for a band. There were a few parts of songs that were really really good, but then they had to wreck it with slop metal thrash and screams. The last song was a lounge tune, i laughed my ass off! The Drunk fans- fuckin assholes, go home, put the CD on really loud, then get drunk and talk about yer broken down car, cause i wanna hear Reflection, not yer horse shit. Now for the HIGHlights- Revrend Maynard, and the Deer man (Danny Carey). Danny fucks Patons deer, then paton fucks danny, it was funny but, Mike, Dude, you road Dan kinda hard! The Video images were amazing, they totally changed all of it since I last saw them (a year to the day). The setlist was changed enought too, H! i can now die happy. Naked Maynard... this is the 2nd time man, you pulled that at APC 2 years ago... i laughed then, i laugh now. The Sound Crew, my hat goes off to you, that was the best sounding show every, powerful, but not so loud i was deaf, perfection. Adam Danny Justin Maynard. All rock solid tonight, if the band wanted to capture the perfect show fer a DVD, this would have been the night to film. A final thought- After talking to other fans at the show, and reading reviews on here (i think i met a few of you) A lot of 'TOOL fans' are missing the point of the show. There were alot of people there with NIN shirts and Slipknot shirts, the NIN kids know whats up, they were kind, and took it easy, danced around. the slipknot maggots (dipshit, assholes, and dumb bitches) are missing the point. Do you Nu Metalheads realize there are stories and meanings behind the songs? Can you tell the difference when maynard is bullshitting you and teaching you? NO! yer a bunch of drunkin assholes lookin fer a fight, go to the gym am wrestle ya dicks! Do you agree? Do you dissagree?, Go ahead and E-mail me, i wanna know if there are other cool TOOL fans out there, cause i only know a handful.

I was damn clsoe to the stage the whole time and didn't get a chance to catch the videos but the backdrops and alex grey's artwork were very cool and trippy as hell. Absolutely fantastic show. I'd have to say it was a lot better than last years show in St. Paul. First off, I have to tell you all how much Tomahawk sucked donkey balls. I mean, the "band" was good (the actual musicians) but the singer... omg, BIT!! He screamed like a little girl for most of the time, and for the other part of the time, he sounded like a dying humpback whale. Everyone was booing them! It was so funny, because I agreed so whole heartedly. The lead singers like, "Do you have sex here in Minnesota?" And only a few people cheered, and he's like, "I guess not." HA! Anyway, enough about a band that STUNK, on to TOOL. My (and yours most likely if you are reading this) favorite band ever. The opened with Sober, which I knew already from reading the reviews from past shows on this tour. :-) But, none-the-less, it was a treat. Stinkfist was GREAT!! They sang it last tour, but this time it seemed so much more... I dunno... sexy. Then.... H!!!!! My fave song EVER!! I was so bummed when I heard they played 46 & 2 in Greenbay, and I was thinking, "They are gonna play that in H's place for my date too!" But they played H, to my hearts delight! And the big shocker... OPIATE!!! The first song from... well... Opiate that I've ever heard live!! It was so good, and the crowd was singing along. Great fun!!! After that it gets fuzzy for me... I was in such a euphoric state, mesmerized by the beauty of it all. They did a jam with Tomahawk with what sounded like a mix of Third Eye and Aenima (sucked they didn't sing Aenima, but I'm not complaining!) and that was soooooo cool! My brother and I had our jaws dropped it was so awesome. Great Jam Session you guys! Bravo! The movies this time around were very well done, and I'm glad Maynard ended up in his underwear again!! ;-) The lights during Lateralus, at the end, was very clever. It was right in the middle of all of us, and when he sang "Black then White are all I see" the lights were only white. (it was like a disco ball with spot lights shining on it, I just remembered I forgot to mention exactly what it was.) Then, he sang, "Red and Yellow then came to be, reaching out to me" the lights turned, you guessed it Red and Yellow! It was so cool because that song really speaks to me, it makes total sence for my outlook on life. This concert was a great distraction from real life, and I was so glad to share it with everyone in the Xcel center last night. AMAZING experience!!! Left with a perma-smile. Thanks a lot guys for another great show!!!

It's definitely nice to have other knowledgeable fans post the correct setlist unlike some other cities. TOOL - The best band in the universe showed why in St. Paul, Minnesota. A cultivating ora surrounded the Xcel Energy Center before they started to play, all the way through the performance, even while I’m writing this review. Listening, feeling and embracing the music was an experience I will never forget, from the gift of hearing H, to the ultimate jam of Triad w/ Tomahawk was unbelievable. The melodic tone of Parabol and Parabola send me to a place I wish I could get back to whenever I want. All in all the show was an extraordinary one, and I had a great time. If you’re reading this and are in a city that has a upcoming date, you should spend whatever you can to see this amazing group of men. I am not a religious person, but know that we all have been blessed with this group of men in our lifetime. Thanks to all and all are one. SHTEY

Whats up everyone? Oh man where do I start, ok first with Tomahawk. Yes I understand its Patton the musical genious but the music was still horrible. I was just waiting for them to get over. The only thing that kept my attention was when reverned maynard came on the stage and there deer skit which was entertaining. So they finally finish after about 35 minutes of screeching vocals and interesting but boring music. Now the wait for Tool seemed like a long time just cuz I was soooo excited and wanted them to come on as quick as possible. They revealed Danney's awesome Kit Which had about 900000 drums and cymbals, I do nt get how he plays em all. Seeing his gigantic Drum set was more entertaining then tomahawks whole set. Anyways, at about 8:45, after what seemed to be a long wait the lights turned down and it was time for TOOOL, I was currently sitting in seats but quickly rushed on to the floor. The security members didnt seem to care. It started with some static and noise, none of the members were clearly visible yet. Then I saw Justin come out and the rest followed with Maynard comin out last. He had a black Stripe down his face and was lookin ready to go. They open with Sober, the crowd already hyped, was going crazy. I myself was one of em. Then came The Grudge, I was going to time Maynards scream but I was too much into the song to do it. He is an amazing singer. The lighting and screens were just amazing as usual for a Tool concert. Next came one of my personal favorite songs, Stinkfist!!! they showed clips of the video and I was in full head banging mode. H was next and believe me it was enjoying to hear that song live. The crowd sang I DONT MIND< I DONT MIND in unison it gave me chills. Next was Schism of course the well known radio hit. After that it was parabol/PArabola. Im glad they played parabol to start it cuz with out parabol, parabola just isnt the same. Maynard then gave a speech on 9/11 and chose to play Opiate which was another surprise. Great song, except a guy spilled his beer on me. ha oh well he seemed like a nice guy so I didnt do nothin. The intermission came with loud thumping and eirie sounds after about 15- 20 minutes, Tool wa back on and slowed it down with Disposition, I just closed my eyes and it felt like I was in a whole new world. The screens had water with what seemed like ghostly bodies floating it. Next was Reflection and Triad, Danney Carey by far is the best drummer in the world, I dont think hes human. Anyways I was too busy staring at him it was amazing. He was wearing a lakers jersey ha. I knew sadly that after those two songs the end was almost near. Maynard who was very talkative thanked us for letting them make our dreams come true or something like that. He also said that he'll see us on the other side. Of course, Lateralus was there closer, I wish the concert would never end. Great song to end it with. With that song finishing the crowd cheered a very long time and Maynard threw some bottles of water ( Which one of my friends brother actually got the cap ) A flawless performance, the only thing I have to say that was negative was the excel sound for the guitars. It was some times a lil fuzzy but nothin big. It was amazing, better than when I saw em last year. Keep rockin Tool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SPIRAL OUT

Tomahawk! (basically sucked). I was gonna get one of their shirts to show it off, but they cost just as much as the Tool ones, so I didn't think it was worth it.. They were all dressed in police uniforms. Mike Patton was pretty funny onstage and was wearing a gas mask for one song. Their music wasn't all that great, it would have been better if Patton would have stopped screaming every second. Meshuggah dominated them last year with their alarm clock song! The best thing about Tomahawk's set was when Maynard came out. He was holding a Bible and saying how we should repent our sins of beastiality and a guy (possibly Danny) in a deer costume came out and started raping this lawn ornament type deer. Then he started to do it to the other band members and Patton got him on the floor and gave him a turn. It was funniest thing I've ever seen. From reading reviews of other shows, this seemed like the best thing they did at any of them. When Maynard left, Mike said "The Reverend Keenan" and everyone cheered. About 45 minutes later, the lights went out and almost every single person around us charged onto the floor. The lady security guard by us didn't even care. They played Mantra for like 10 minutes or so, before that sheer bass of Sober came in. Maynard was wearing a black body suit or something, with a black stripe on his face. During the Grudge (I think) he went away for a bit and came back in his speedo, he said something like "I wasn't gonna take my shirt off, but since all of you are gettin naked, I might as well too," I can't remember exactly. Around the 3rd or 4th song, I finally reached the gate a little to the left in front of the stage. I stayed there for a couple more songs, but then all the idiots around me were gettin crazed so I moved away from there. I pretty much stayed 2 or 3 rows of people from the stage for the rest of it. Setlist: Sober The Grudge Stinkfist H. Schism Parabol Parabola Opiate -Intermission- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralis I think the set list from last year may have been better, but at least I got to hear H. this time!!! The drum solo in Triad was awesome too. Danny Carey is so amazing! Maynard was playing his guitar without a headstock for a couple songs. I think Adam's guitar was a little too distorted/fuzzy and in Reflection it quit working for a while around that "The moon tells me a secret, my confidant" part. After the song him and Maynard talked for a second, laughing. The only bad thing about the show was all the frickin morons pushing and smacking everyone out of the way to get up closer. But no matter where you go, there's always a few people who seem to try their hardest to ruin it for everyone else. It sucked that the security guards didn't want people body surfing and even sitting on peoples' shoulders. Especially since a lot of them were hot chicks. Tool is soooo amazing live. Anyone who hasn't had a chance to see them should go...NOW!!!! Feel free to e-mail me about the show if you went too! ~>~

I forgot to mention an interesting thing that Maynard said..... After Triad, he was thanking some people and some of them were from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He said, "Sadly they have terminal tourette's...which only comes out in airports, when they scream 'BOMB BOMB BOMB!'" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!! i get it Be patient.

Boy, tomahawk was...interesting. I think they would have been liked more had mike patton decided not to make that god damn screeching noise with his voice so often, it truly hurt. I didn't really find the deer incident to be very amusing, though maynard in the preacher outfit was great. I think Tomahawk did this...because they know no one likes them. But oh well, maybe tool sees something I don't, but I just wasn't really enjoying them, I personally thought meshuggah was better, cuz they at least tried to entertain the audience, where as mike patton hates the audience and makes ridiculous jokes about ludafisk. But enough about Tomahawk. Tool was so good, on the way to the show I was commenting on how they never play Sober anymore. So sure enough they opened with it, it was truly amazing. And to be honest from there on it got a little fuzzy as far as order goes, I was too busy being mesmorized by their incredible musicianship. The end of The Grudge where Danny totally goes off was a definte highlight for me, I just stood there with my mouth wide open in aww. As for the audience I was so disapointed, I saw more frat boys there than I've ever seen before. Too many people spilling beer and waiting for a song thats on the radio to come on so they could pretend to be fans. I was sickened when about halfway through parabol, I looked down to the floor to see people fighting each other. I wasn't suprised as much as I was just saddened, I wonder why Maynard sings with his back to the audience. Overall, the best show I've ever seen. Hope Moline on sat. is just as good

It really gave me the chance to dance around like a fucking idiot all the while singing drunken slurred lyrics into the ears of all those more intelligent sitting around me. Surely the enjoyed heaering my words far more than they would have ever that of the lead singer of Tool. Leonard, or whatever his name is. Oh man, I love beer. err, Tool.

The show was a spiritual expierience. Tool's set at the end was a fucking masterpiece. I still can't believe they played H. and Opiate! That fucking ruled. The hilite for me may have been "triad". the extended percussion parts and members of tomahawk just blew me away. But again, like so many other shows on the tour, dumbass jockheads made this show difficult to enjoy at times. DON'T BOO OFF TOMAHAWK! whatever happened to showing some respect? if you love TOOL so much ( a band that preaches open mindedness), shouldn't you be able to at least appreciate the band they selected to go on tour with? when people were booin and chucking shit at the stage, thinking it was really funny, i was up in front yelling "i wanna be like mike" "mike is allright" and "fuck them play your shit" stuff like that. god damn ignorant drunken fools. it was also extremely hard to breathe and stand if you were in the front, thanks to all the slam dancing freaks and extra people on the floor. but don't get me wrong, i LOVED this show, i couldn't be happier with Maynard , Mike and pal's crazy shenanigans. i will be at every tool or mike patton show in the minnesota area in the future, so see you there!

I'm gonna keep this short and sweet. The Show was amazing. Its been two days since the concert and i still see Tool every time i close my eyes. The stage set was very cool the imagery presented on the screens above the stage really added to the music. At times it was hard for me to even look at the band because the artwork on the screen drew me in. This was my first chance to see Tool since i saw them at Ozzfest in '98. They were good live then, but to actually see them in a headlining postion where they had free reign was mind blowing. This was by far the best concert i've every been to. I wish more people understood that Maynard is playing to the crowd, but mocking them. I think it would scare some of the 14 year old n'sync fans out of there quick if they actually listened to the music and tried to understand the messages. Getting to hear H. and opiate was very cool, favorites of mine off of their respective albums. Over all a very surreal experience. One that it seems isnt going to leave me for quite a while.

Ok, so far all the set lists i saw were right, inckuding ions, so no need for that jibber jabber. Tool was fantastic. Thats really all that needs to be said. Tool "fans" on the other hand, not impressed. They will, however, not keep me from seeing other shows. Some highlights i noticed were..."h." I mean, come on! h.! this has been my favorite song since i heard it and then they surprise everybody by playing it at my first concert? maynard must know something...Opiate was a pleasant surprise, though since he went into his "think for yourself" speech i assumed third eye, which i would have liked better but, hey, opiate, what can you say? and the number one highlight, seeing danny in person (23 rows up) my goodness this cat can swing! wow, thats it, wow. i hope somone actually scrolls down this far to read my thoughts, see you at some other show, peace. johno

All I can say is fucking incredible. Tool kicks ass, and always will. I am so glad they played Opiate, and I thought it was very cool that the Reverend had a lot to say. Thank you! Triad was the second best part of the show. 3 guitarists, 3 drummers, and Mike Patton on keyboard was indescribable, but nothing could possible compare to starting the show in second row center on the floor. Watching Adam, Maynard, Justin and Danny walk out onto the stage was the highlight of the show for me. Being that close to people so intelligent and energetic...ahhh. I don't understand how those guys can handle how damn cool they are. H, thank you. I got my ass kicked during the grudge. I almost enjoyed it. Although, some people need to chill the fuck out and let the other people on the floor enjoy the music. Simply put, the second most amazing and inspirational night of my life. Second only to the first Tool show I saw in Madison last year. Before I go, I want to quick say thanks to all the really cool, considerate Tool fans out there, to Tomahawk for a good warm-up, and to Tool themselves for instituting some inspiration into my life. See you on the other side...

This was my first tool show and I've been waiting to see them since undertow. I'm from winnipeg and I drove the 8 hour drive to the show... It cost me close to $250 american in total. it was worth every penny. If you are reading this review you've read the others and they all sum up everythign I had to say about the show. Except the comments about the 'red neck herd'. I only like to be on the floor when I see a show. it helps me to feel more connected with the music. I also enjoy to dance/mosh to the music when it has the right pull. I'm not defending the ones who mosh only to prove their masculinity. or, to feel part of the group in a drunken stupor. I however allow these people to do as they wish. I allow them to think for themselves. If they chose to think like a crow, that is a choice as equal as yours to sit in the stands. Big complaint, It was WAY to fucking hot in the second row on the floor. and Minnisotans sound funny. it was hard not to laugh everytime someone said something to me. but it probably worked both ways. I hope none of you who are about to see a show feel like you are going to be juged by the ones that are holier than thou. Enjoy it cause that's why you're there. leave inspired

Tomahawk is great. Tool is great. I want to kill all the dumbasses who were booing tomahawk. Tool fans generally think they're so damn intelligent just for listening to Tool, so they make fun of everything else. maybe they don't realize that Tool picks the bands that open for them. perhaps they should give them a chance before yelling drunken insults at kickass bands. Opiate was awesome.

I thought this show was excellent! I saw Tool 3 times in 2001 and once (so far) in 2002. I rate this show number 2 of the 4 total. I don't really care for the Xcel Energy Center (due to the overwelming security) but Tool plays it well! Compared to last years Xcel Energy center show, It was much better! I thought the visuals and sound were much better this year (except for the lack of lights on the center floor scoreboard) and the energy was intense! I really like the "small venue" feel when I go to a show that's why I have to give the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids, Ia. the number one spot on my list! There's nothing like walking in the front door of an "Arena" and being on the floor. Brad Eau Claire, Wi.

The concert was brilliant. Technically. There is no disputing Tool's ability to reach people through their music. But something bothered me at this show, prompting me to ask a simple question: How much can a band refuse their fans before those fans take the fucking hint and are rightfully insulted? From what I can ascertain from most of these reviews, Tool all but completely denies their fan base, yet they are still able to enjoy mindless subservient worship from these fans. Jesus Christ himself would be impressed by that kind of devotion. Tool doesn’t even seem to try to reach their audiences anymore. What they do instead is have members of their crew go around the audience and hand out backstage passes to appealing females. The band seems to have these people brought back there for mere entertainment rather than for an actual “meeting the fans.” Conversation revolves around dildos, etc, rather than the music. Now, I’ll admit that a lot of the people at Tool shows are fucking idiots. But there are a lot of understanding and appreciative fans who can comprehend the different levels of the Tool experience. If Tool can’t put it down for these fans anymore, why play at all? They have an amazing gift to share, but how degrading is it to watch a show knowing the band is indifferent towards their audience? Tool is technically musical genius, but it’s hard to fully immerse yourself in the live show knowing that the band doesn’t even seem to think the audience is worth the effort.

They were so awesome that i'm going to sioux falls, sd next month to see them, if anyone here is going, email me. Now to the next topic for a second, Tomahawk; they are seriuosly one of THE worst bands i have EVER heard in my life!!!!! There cd had a ok song here and there, but live they were teriable. Especially the vocolist who just has this fricken anyoning high shrill voice. Back to tool, i liked that maynard was back behind everyone giving the rest of the band room to breath. We had reserved seats but rushed the pit and that was the first good choice. In a stadium holding nearly 15,000 people and to be five feet from the stage is pretty awesome experience. This was my 24th concert and by far the best!!!! My only downpoint was that they didnt play 46 and two or aenima or hooker with a penis but everything else rocked!!!! Later Amory
