The Grudge Stinkfist (Extended) 46 & 2 (-) Ions Prison Sex (Extra Verse) Schism Pushit (Extended) Disposition/Reflection -intermission- Parabol/Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Aenima Lateralus Quite a show all in all. Justin came out in a huge wig to play with Meshugga. Maynard had a black stripe painted down the center of his face and performed the second half of his show in his underwear. Aside from the skinny little skater kids crowd surfing and fat sweaty frat boys punching each other, the show seemed relatively calm. Thankfully I had good seats and was able to take in the sounds with out these annoyances. Maynard spoke to the crowd a couple times, mentioning that hopefully their music could help the healing process, how we should choose love and compassion over fear, and speaking about creating something positive with the feeling from the show. The words to AEnima were also altered a little saying "Fret for your football and fret for your baseball." Now I need some sleep so I can be ready for the floor and the masses of morons tomorrow in Cleveland who like to mosh during songs like Reflection and 46&2 instead of enjoying the best band on the planet. Take Care.

here's the shizzie setlist: the grudge stinkfist forty six and 2 (-)ions prison sex schism pushit disposition reflection intermission (with contortionists climbin to the rafters) parabol parabola eon blue apocalypse the patient ænema lateralus well there are a number of things i can say about this concert, about 6 of them having to do with how much this concert kicked ass! another thing... before playing schism maynard talked briefly about how much we got our asses kicked recently... and that we could either choose fear or love and compassion to deal with our problems. he also said that all we need for world peace is better communication... and then schism began. great concert. best ive ever seen.

Hey people I just got back from my first Tool concert ever. First off Meshuggah was the worst band I have ever seen live. They were so horrible. People were even booing them. I understood a total of 2 words the singer sang the whole performance. Well after that Tool came on and started playing away. It was truly amazing. The only part I did not really like was the fact that they didn't play Sober, which is probably my favorite Tool song. Other than that It was perfect. After a few songs Maynard mentioned something about the tragic events that took place in America. I forget what he said. Some cool things that happened were that they played Ænema and The Patient. I was so excited when they played those and the place went nuts. Also another strange thing that happened was there was these two naked bald guys rolling around on the stage and hanging upside down and stuff. That was different. Well it was a good two and a half hour set. The songs they played were: (in no order) ++++++++++++ - The Grudge - Stinkfist - Schism - Disposition - Reflection - Eon Blue Apocalypse - The Patient - Prison Sex - Ænema - Parabol - Parabola - 46 & 2 - Lateralus ++++++++++++ I hope that review helped you out some!

Ok, I won't say the set list since people put it up already. All i can saw for tool it was awesome. I just wish people didn't push as much in the front. And to the moshing, just enjoy the show and music. The visuals were off the hook. The contortionists were weird. I didn't like seeing the guy's penis. The music was so surreal, and words can't express the feeling. My fav of the night "Parabol/Parabola." Awesome show, you shoulda been there. That's all I can add that someone hasn't said before.

First off... Meshugga is horrible. The other reviews talking about how great they are, are totally full of shit. They sucked. If you enjoy music, you hate Meshugga. ITS SAVAGE DIRT SOUNDS... Also, the moment of the night was when Maynard tried to have a talk about the events this week and people started chanting USA USA USA.. "For all those chanting USA, We just got our asses kicked, you might want to think about what you are saying" I laughed so hard I almost shit my pants. Maynard I salute you. Badass show...

Normally i don't post reviews, but i have gone to the indy, chicago show and tonight columbus. It was great as all of the shows have been. We are really in need of finding a peace within are seleves and each other. And TOOL is helping us get there. I have tickets to the dayton show whenever that will be. And I am off to cleveland and detroit. This is going to be a great weekend. Positve thinking and creativity will lead us to a higher level of thinking and living. ROCK ON MY DEAR FAMILY.

After a car accident, going over a curb at a gas station, and a speeding ticket, we finally made it to Columbus to see Tool. The 2 hour drive was well worth it. Visually amazing, musically amazing, emotionally amazing. Only low point of the show were dumbass guerillas who insist on slamming into everybody. The only complaint I have is that IT IS SO MUCH TO TAKE IN in only two hours time. Luckily I'll get to see them tomorrow in Cleveland so I will get the total effect. it was kick ass and TOOL is the best band in the entire world. The concert felt more like an amazing movie rather than a concert. The ebb and change of emotions, the visuals, the overall emotion just made it seem like you were watching something other than a concert. WOW.

Hey guys, man, I can't even begin to explain how awesome meshuggah was. Their performance was as close to god-like as you could possibly get. The lead guitarist diplayed musicality levels that I can't comprehend. It was totally out of this world. The lead singer was perfectly in tune tonight. He hit every note with perfect pitch. He must have taken lessons at a very young age. I guess Sweden knows good music. They provided some influencing ideas between songs that has kind of made we want to persue their beliefs as a life long discovery. Meshuggah's drummer was also quite spectacular. He has amazing chops. They fucking rocked. Dude if you see Meshugah for the first time, you'll love them. The are so awesome. They are gods of their instruments. Oh yeah, Tool was okay. -Troll 811 Central Ave. Fostoria, OH 44830 419-435-7325

What can I say!!???? It fucking rocked!!! I really think this was the best TOOL show I've ever been to!!! And it was certainly the best of this tour. It was a much needed positive experience for me (all of us). He wasn't as talkative as he was in Noblesville, IN but his words were more powerful last night. (They've all been listed already...) I just hope people do take the compassion and the creativity and the communication speeches to heart!!!! AND, I was on the good side of the stage, looking at Maynard ALL NIGHT!!!!Can't wait til Louisville and hopefully Dayton!!!!

Well, I feel somewhat like a rookie. This was not only my first Tool show, but it was my first concert ever. And being 115 pounds does not help when you have floor seats. But nevertheless, getting up to the front row center was the best thing I have ever done for myself. Tool played a bangup show, and I cannot believe they picked a band like Meshuggah to open. Despite the amount of horrible fans with their "Cowboys from Hell" shirts and whatnot, it was still a great show: The Grudge Stinkfist (extended) Forty 6 & 2 (-) Ions Schism Pushit Disposition Reflection -intermission- Parabol Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Aenema Lateralus 'Twas a great show, and the view was great. The brought out the contortionists from the Scism video out during Schism. Then they were later suspeneded in salival-esque fasion above the video screen for the entire second set. This all combined with some really amazing video action for every single song! If you've never seen Tool, I highly recommend it...Maynard's speeches, alone, are worth it.

Well, I must say it was quite an incredible evening. My crew and I arrived at the venue around 3:30 and were shocked to discover the line was only about 12 people long at that point. After heading to the bathroom and getting something to drink, we began our wait in the hopes of obtaining a barricace position for the show. The wait was well worth it because not only did we all get barricade spots, we got to hear the soundcheck, and I think this was well worth mentioning in the review. It started out with a little bit of "Triad" and then went into a full version of "Maynard's Dick" with the chorus changed to "Sweney's dick" a reference to their security guy I'm pretty sure. They also played "The Grudge" at soundcheck, which was a nice taste of things to come. The show itself was simply amazing and no amount of words typed here will make anyone who hasn't seen Tool understand the power this band has. For those of you who have seen them, you know what I'm talking about. The screens had me in awe the entire show and the the level of connectedness of the four members of the band is simply unbelievable. I'm now an even bigger Tool fan than I was before, if somehow that is possible. A big thanks goes to Tool for not cancelling this show after the tragic events of the past week, and for being "a soundtrack for some sort of healing" last night. I'd also like to say that for the record, the security and employees in the venue were some of the best I've ever encountered in all my concert going days. Info about when the doors opened, where wristbands were obtained and so on was given up request, the security introduced themselves and explained to us things we could do to ensure our safety as well as that of others before the show, and a steady supply of water was given to all throughout the show. Even the air conditioning in the place was unbelievable. I was barely sweating when I left. It all added up to one of the best environments for witnessing Tool I could have ever possibly envisioned and for that I'm grateful.

amazing. the best part is that i got 2 floor tickets off ticketmaster the day of the show, and people who had their tickets long before me were in the upmost part of the arena and couldn't see anything. i was about 20 feet from the stage right in front of adam. i especially liked the nude dancers hanging above the stage. i would like to comment on the blockheads in the mosh pit..... GO RELIEVE YOUR HOMOSEXUAL TENSION ON EACH OTHER. STOP COMING TO TOOL SHOWS AND BEATING THE HELL OUT OF MUSIC FANS. MOSHING IS STUPID, AND ANYONE WHO PARTAKES IS AN ASS. other than the stupid moshing it was a great show.

First off I want to get my bitching out of the way so that I can spend more time on my praising. What's all this about floor seating being sold out??! I was seated in the upper rafters of section 322 TALK ABOUT NOSE BLEED to only look down on a floor section that was only about 2/3 of the way full. I realize that after the unfortunate incidents at some concerts people's saftey in a major concern but come on I saw some kids playing footbag between the Meshugga/Tool sets, and NO-ONE was within 50 ft of them. Anyway on with the review.... Meshugga, WOW an immediate onslaught of MONSTER GRINDING METAL that began before the lights were even shut off. And which did not end until the lights were back on. Did anybody see the guy with the HUGE afro wig. TOOL was AMAZING, beyond amazing. With a setlist that any TOOLOPHILE can truely appreciate. I must say that this is the 1st show that I have experienced when TOOL didn't play SOBER thanks guys, sometimes I like to hear them mix it up. I know this is a fan favorite, but to me the entire catalog is a favorite. Every time I experience Tool it feels more intense and more personable. I've experienced TOOL in all sorts of mind sets attempting to squeegie my THIRD EYE each time, but my recommendation to the rest of you is GO SOBER. By the time TOOL was into their third song I was feeling a rush more intense than almost any previous drug related experience. TOOL has transended themselves to a level beyond that of any other musicians that I have ever seen. Masters of mood, influction, tempo, lighting (the whole visual package) to me TOOL is no longer a group musicians they are truely ARTISTS painting a picture for the audience so clear and beautiful that one can not help to be drawn in by their power and grace. " I don't want it, I just need it, to breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive." Maynard (being the spokesman for the group) mentioned this weeks earlier tragedies which insighted a portion of the crowd to chant "USA USA USA USA" Maynard then interupted their mass mentality chant. "HEY you there MR USA we just got our asses kicked! And thats because WE did something wrong." Maynard latter went on to say that he "hoped that tonight we have played a song track for HEALING." All in all, I must say the show was excellent and I can't wait for the Cleveland show and then the Detroit show on Sunday. And remember it is Sunday so I hope you all bring your Bibles with you.

Well, what can I say? The show was awesome, despite the fact we had to overcome the worst odds to get to it. We arrived towards the end of The Grudge, then got turned down by security after they wanted to search our cigarette packs, we took care of that situation and we were in. Driving from Cincinnati and getting lost on the way there didn't help our situation at all. TOOL sounded better than at Deer Creek on 9/08, but I didn't like our seats too much....We couldn't see the performers when they were suspended above the stage because of the huge speakers pointed our way. It's not like I really needed to see them, anyway. Maynard had a little bit more to say tonight because of what's been going on in the world, and gave is "2 choices" speech. His words are VERY empowering and convincing. The Dayton show has been postponed, so who knows how long it'll be before I get to see the show again, this time for the FLOOR!!!! I might end up going to Louisville, though. I can't get enough of this experience, and I URGE everyone who hasn't seen this show to attend IMMEDIATELY!!!! Brandon outtahand420@msn.com

you've all seen the set list. it was great. i, also, would have liked to have heard opiate, but then again it wouldn't have fit with the whole concert. with the changes in the words for certain songs maynard bent the concert to fit the mood of the audience. whoever did the video production work and editing for the monitors is a genious. what a great show filled with naked bodies. the mood was very serious, and yet a little inspiring. maybe it will give people a little hope. maynard stole the show even though he didn't appear at the front of the stage, or even have a light on him through the whole concert. how many times have we seen a lead singer take the back seat at a concert and still twist everyone's emotions with his melodic voice? i need more!!! i, also, agree with what maynard said in between songs - instead of chanting for usa (trying to prove to ourselves what a great country we are) we should look at where we went wrong in the first place to put us in this situation. i'm not advocating the execution of american lives, but pointing out we shouldn't promote the repressing of third world nations. maynard should write a book. and by the way the first band blew big balls.

After being in almost shambles because the Dayton show was canceled (postponed I still hope), I thoroughly enjoyed the show in Columbus. Being my first tool show, and my second Maynard experience (I saw APC at Vets Memorial a while ago), I left the show feeling enlightened and free. It was like the input of live tool made me think nothing of the chaos that is happening all around in New York. It was the perfect show. I also really loved "Osseus Labyrint." My friends though I was foolish when I bought their T-shirt but after they (and I) saw the performance, they grew deeply jealous. I thought it was quite cool that they did ÆNIMA, even though it is similar to the disasters in NY, and no one got upset. It's like tool brought us closer and made (helped) us think about the situation, a little bit more. We were all Americans, but that night we came together as TOOL-FANS! RESCHEDULE THE DAYTON SHOW!!!!!! peace.

The show was very entertaining. I thought Meshuggah destroyed, much to the contrast of everyone else in attendance. No, you can't bob your head easily to every song but damn are they fine musicians. Incredibly tight. As a guitarist I could appreciate it, but I can understand how some people might not like it. Tool was good. Much better than when I saw them on Ozzfest or Lollapalooza but those were outdoor shows (and that would be trying to compare apples and oranges). Is Adam really as bored playing the music as he looks like he is? I thought he looked like he was terribly uninterested in being there, but that might just be me. All in all, a good show.

Since no one else has commented on it, I'll point out that the symbol for the Ten Sefirot of the Kabbalah appeared on the screen several times during one of the songs in the second half (I don't own Lateralus and can't keep most of the songs straight). Anyone notice that the video for "Schism" more or less depicts the concepts of body thetans in Scientology? I guess I'll save the rest for the "Opinion" section :)

The September 14th Show at Shottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio went without a hitch and a fun time was had by all! Shaking the foundations and warming up the Arena for Tool was Messugah from Sweden and they rocked hard for seven songs. I had never heard them before and I thought they were a really good metal band. Tool was great. The Lighting, Animations and other Show "Extras" were incredible and they really added to the experience. The show enveloped a kind of new age psychadelic atmosphere. The fans were all into the Concert and they were all generally friendly to one another. I got almost all the way up to the front of the stage, about 3 feet from the front-floor retaining fence and I had a good, close view of Tool. The Setlist included every song from Lateralus starting off with The Grudge. The other songs performed were Stinkfist, 46 & 2, Aenema, and Pushit. Suprisingly, no songs from Undertow or Opiate were performed. But the concert was still a very good one and was definately worth the admission price. I hope to see them once again when the opportunity presents it's self...

WOW. It was awesome. As soon as we left I wanted to go to another. Maynard is wicked. He was dancing around in his underwear and throwin it out. This man can SING like nothing I have heard before. I just hope I can see him sing with in A Perfect Circle in concert. They play so well together. It seemed a little short, I was hoping for a couple more. I had really hoped to hear jimmy and maybe H, but they played a variety of all their albums, minus Opiate. They didn't play anything from Opiate at all. Push-it and Stinkfist along with Schism and (A)enima were great live. And those contortionist people, that was some scary stuff!!!1 Now, let me speak of "Mishuggah" (sp). That is the most awful band I have ever heard. It was HORRIBLE. I don't know how ANYONE can consider that to be music. I was just hoping they would get off stage, I was trying to save my ears for Tool. Maynard needs to get rid of that horrible band as an opener. I mean it is really awful, I cannot stress how bad it really is. I could not understand a word the guy said all they did was scream. I'm sorry I couldn't even give that band a chance. There are no good qualities to thier "music". And whoever posted something about "harmonic balance and tone" or something of that nature. BULLSHIT. That band is horrible. I think they cut into Tool's time. I WILL NEVER MISS ANOTHER TOOL CONCERT AGAIN!!!!!!! MAYNARD KICKS ASS!!!!!

I had wonderful seats, which I had hoped I would after waiting in line on the opening ticket day for over a half-an-hour. The set list was wonderful, my friends had argued just days before about what Tool woould open up with. One said The Grudge and the other said Stinkfist. The Grudge was first but stinkfist was right behind. This concert was truly amazing, the visuals were gerat although truly disturbing at times and although Maynard was not really showing his face a whole lot, his presence was definately strongly noticed by all of he fans. I liked it that the Schott wasn't completely packed because the show felt more intimate. Tool has to be the greatest band in the world and I got to see them!!!

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. If nobody has, you ought to. The less duplicated info, the easier it is for everyone to read these. Especially your mom. My drive was some what boring, well, very fucking boring. I had just thrown together an 86' Z28 to get my ass to the Columbus show from Charleston, WV by myself since my friends have no taste in music. Beer was 5 bucks for maybe 16ounzes of it but after hearing the first song from the opening act I decided that 5 bucks was a good deal. I continued to walk around during the opening act to check out the split tail and catch a small buzz. TOOL was without a doubt nothing less than perfect. Sound was probably great from any seat and the video effects were beyond my imagination. Thank you TOOL for pushing my mind and thought to a higher level of compassion for life and love for those around me. And thanx to the dude in front of me for giving me smokes all night for just letting him use my lighter!

Well this is my first tool show ever. And Actually my first concert...All I can say was it kicked so much ASS. Everyone has said what maynard said and the set list i just wanted to say this The opening band sucked, no one even showed up for them..All you heard were ppl saying you suck and bring on tool which i agreed. Me and 7 other ppl drove up from Virginia to see them a 6 hour drive saw the show and drove straight back considering I was so tired i actually hated the ride home and no one spoke about the show. Though getting lost in downtown columbus afterwards was horrible .. and arriving into columbus at the peak of rush hour was even more horrible i've never seen more precision driving by 4 cars then what we did at speeds of 70 and 75mph...Great show cant wait i'm going to one of tHe NC shows and prolly the nashville or louiville..Cant fuckin wait.. ONe last thing when they played anima the place went crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to start this by saying what a great place the Schottenstein center is. Great staff and great arena. I definitely will be attending more events there. Anyways, I had great seats, better than my speaker reduced pavillion seat view at the Indy show, and I could see the band perfectly as well as the screen. Okay, I know they have padded seats and all but there is no way I can sit down for a TOOL show. Also, sorry to all of you on the floor who had to deal with the ignorant moshers. I'm pretty sure that Slipnot is playing somewhere, please, for the sake of people who want to LISTEN to TOOL go and beat yourself up there. Fucking IDIOTS. Did anyone else feel that there might have been a few technical problems up untill 46&2? The acoustics seemed better after that. I was watching Danny most of the evening, and how impressive is his playing, I mean shit. I have to say that I think Reflection is so sweet live. I love how Adam plays that riff as osseus labyrint is preparing for intermission. That is such a great part of the show. Adam and Justin seemed very engrossed in there work up there this evening. Maynard was, well, Maynard. These guys are so good together that there is no way anyone's review can give there live performance any justice. My favorite part of the show is how they all gather around the drum kit facing Danny and play the opening to Lateralus. Well, that is all for me. Run, don't walk, and go see TOOL.

.Tool Show Review My best friend and I flew from St. Louis to Columbus to see Tool that evening at the Schottenstein Arena. The very least I can say about this show is it was worth the 4½ hour wait in line at the airport. I do not possess the words to articulate it’s true transcendental effect on my person. Our hotel was a quick cab ride to the event. It was, at most, 70 degrees outside and absolutely beautiful. “The Schott” as the arena is known, is a very nice venue with an outdoor smoking patio on the third floor. We made great use of this fabulous facility for the entirety of Meshugga’s act. We really did give them a chance. I downloaded about seven of their songs, and I forced myself to listen to each of them more than once. They set my teeth on edge. We sat through the first song of the set, and decided that beer and cigs were far preferable company to synchronized head- banging and the hoarse, gutteral, belchings of unintelligible lyrics. I realize that there is very likely some incredible genius going on somewhere in Meshugga, but there is far too much other shit to sift through to identify it. Tool, on the other hand, blew me away from the first moment to the last. The crowd was great; everyone around us seemed totally uninhibited. Everyone sang, and hardly anyone sat for longer than a minute at a time. We were fortunate to have really great seats, but Maynard was backlit the entire time and very difficult to see. The band was completely tight. I have never heard music sound more cohesive. You felt like the music and Maynard’s voice were all coming from one perfect instrument. If I were to dare even complain, it would only be to mention that they played nothing from Opiate. Nevertheless, it was a great show and we had a really amazing time in Columbus. Once we returned to St. Louis the following day, we saw in the paper that Tool just added St. Louis to their tour on October 19th. We’ll be there too!

i just have a few good and bad things to say. first off, i probally had one of the best seats in the house, depending on taste. i was just left of the stage and so close that i could read the setlist. i' m rather glad i didn' t have to fight with asses on the floor. one thing bad about this seat is that it didn' t seem very loud. i wanted to have my body pounded by danny' s bass drums and head split wide open by maynard' s vocals. i guess the sacrifice one pays for sitting behind the speakers. the show visually was astounding from the contortionists, the lights shaped in the flaming circle on lateralus, and to the images on the screens working together with the sound flowing from tool being on stage. i must say that they' ve came along way from the first time i saw them in tijuana in '94. i would just like to add one last thing before i go play with my tool. i wish all the little whinnie bitches that "say" they listen to tool, would open thier minds and understand tool. zac

I don't who the guy's that thought the opening band kicked ass was but they didn't. That was the worst noise pollution I have ever heard. But on to positive things I thought TOOL kicked ass. The whole experience was mind blowing. And Maynard standing in the background showed a strong unit not one man and other people. A true band that kicks ass and loves music..

I have been shoulder deep withing the borderline since about '93, but had never seen Tool (the best band on the planet hands down) until this tour. After seeing them in Minneapolis, Madison, and Chicago, I had to see them in Maynard's home state. The shows were in a word... amazing. Never have I seen such a show, even if you don't like the music of Tool, I think you could appreciate the theatrics of it all. In every concert, the "naked Schism people" made an appearance, and then hung from the cieling and did their thing. The most amazing parts to the shows were Disposition and Reflection (and those aren't even close to my favorite Tool songs). They seemed to be spiraling out into a whole new area with these songs, and growth is always good to see. At every show I was at they closed with Lateralus (is this the making of a new Tool classic? I think so). If there is a better concert out there I would love to see it, but until then spiral out, keep going........

I saw this enlightening show about a week and a half ago. I figured that I would give myself a little time to sit back and reflect on what I experienced that night. Buying the tickets was almost as much of a memory to me as the actual concert. Four friends and I decided that we were going to have to realize that if we wanted to do what we wanted to do at this concert, than we were going to have to get pavilion seats to avoid all of the ignorance. We decided to have a gathering and then leave for the ticket store on May 15 4:30a.m. and then have a little nap in front of the place. I recieved lower pavilion tickets and then through sheer kindness of ones heart,I was able to sit in the third row exact center. -The show- Although this was my first live tool experience I did know what to expect. I knew 90% of what was going to happen at this concert. Some people think that this might be deadening to the experience, but I take it as a sort of preperation for what was about to happen. The one thing that i did not expect was for it to blow away my expectations and basically blindside me. Don't take this as negative at all. I have been researching this band for 6 years and I am 17 years old. The level that my study has taken me to is amazing. Tool IS actually a tool. Just think about what I am saying and you will know exactly what I am talking about. Put yourself in the same frame of mind as you were in at that beautiful concert you were at. Do you think you have ever felt like that in your entire lifetime? This band will teach you the beginnings of an unbelievable journey and that is just the beginning. I am not blabbing about how this band rocks. We need much more than that. the catchphrases and the slang belong exactly where you found them. Please truely think for yourself. This is only my opinion. Write me paulisgod33@hotmail.com

Hey this was my first tool show ever. I am in florida so it was pretty crazy. We drove 1000 miles to get there and had not slept in days. When meshuggah came on I almost cried they sucked so bad. My friend had his first bad trip because of that bands shit filled performance and we had to leave before tool came on stage so he would not have a complete mental collapse. I REALLY REALLY HATED Meshuggah, they cant play for shit, i heard maybe two clear words the entire time. DIe and Meshuggah. Hopefully when i see them in Orlando the other band playing with tool will be better
