This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

Setlist: The Grudge (-) Ions Stinkfist Ticks and Leeches Merkaba-like Jam Session Parabola (No Parabol) Pushit (Salival Version!!!) Schism (with Osseus Labrynt) Disposition Reflection -Intermission- (All but Adam get off the stage and he plays the last riff of Reflection for a while. O.L makes their way to the ceiling to hang upside down) Triad (O.L climb down when Triad finishes) Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Opiate!!!!! Lateralus Wow. Words cannot even express how happy that concert made me. To start off, the plot-line can’t get any better: On my way to eat and go to a TOOL concert with my 3 best friends and a guy that is so hilarious he makes my sides hurt. So we get down to Tacoma, head over to Rusten Way to eat at a place called The Ram Brewery. Good Place. We all get burgers and life is good. We’re running a little late but it’s all good. We arrive at the venue at around 7:15. This was later than we anticipated and because of the security it took a little while to get in. So we get through the gates a few songs into Tricky’s set. No big deal, we weren’t there to see Tricky. They did sound pretty good though, I have to give them that. So there we go, we get to the seats and all my expectations were met and exceeded. We had the last 4 seats on the end of the Side seating, the closest end to the stage. So we had a perfect view onto the stage, I could see everyone perfectly. I couldn’t ask for anything more, but it was given anyway. So Tricky gets off and they rearranged the stage and before you know it, it’s time for Tool, my favorite band. The four guys came from behind the stage and climbed into their positions. All at once the sounds of The Grudge shot into my ears. That song is amazing live and a perfect opening song. No big deal quite yet as they had been playing that at all the other shows. The same goes for (-) Ions, and then Stinkfist, which was absolutely amazing. Then, the guys held the suspense for quite a while and my wish came true. The second the Drum intro started I knew what it was and that my prayers had been answered. That’s right…Ticks and Leeches came next. Maynard did use some sort of synthesizer to take it easier on his voice, and that was fine, it sounded amazing! He was all over the place. That song was absolutely amazing. That’s all there is to it. The guys then gave Maynard’s voice a rest and went into a short version of Merkaba. Then they did a few notes from Parabol and led right into Parabola quickly. That was mildly disappointing but nothing big at all. I really had no problems with it. That song, by the way, was awesome, as was to be expected. After this Maynard did his traditional “Good Evening” and said that it was “a pleasure to see [us] again”. He didn’t say a tremendous amount at first but ended up talking quite a bit by the end of the night. Then, for the third time so far, my prayers were answered. They did the Salival Version of Pushit. There is simply no describing this. You just have to see it. I was hoping so bad that they would do that song and they did. After that I predicted they would do Schism although I was hoping for Eulogy or 46 & 2 but knew, having read all of the set lists from the other shows, that it was probably going to be Schism and there would be no room for those songs from here on out so I had to cope with not getting to hear them but I didn’t really expect to. I have no complaints, as Schism was amazing live, just as it was at the Paramount in August. Then, also as predicted they went into Disposition and Reflection. I was very disappointed to see the guy from Tricky come out during Reflection, as it is such an amazing experience. I didn’t think that added well to the environment that is set by Reflection. I know all the fans in my section felt the same way. I think what tipped me off was the loud “Tricky sucks!” that occurred about every time he moved. It reminded me of A-Rod’s first game back in Seattle. As bad as that was, nothing can ruin Reflection and it was still awesome. Maynard saved it, don’t worry. Then, to my surprise, everyone cleared the stage except Adam who continued to play the last riff of Reflection while Osseus Labyrint made their way to the ceiling. Maynard got off and walked right under us, going to the dressing room or something. He was only about 30 feet away from us so I decided to yell at him and tell him how awesome he is. He responded to the yell by looking up and grinning. I couldn’t believe it. Then they all climbed back on and went into Triad. That was also amazing. The sound was unbelievable. At the end of the song O.L descended from the ceiling and Adam began to play Eon Blue Apocalypse and my 4th prayer was answered. I wanted to hear The Patient incredibly badly when they played the Paramount but I didn’t get s lucky that time. I was ecstatic. It was simply amazing. After that Maynard talked for quite a while to the crowd, which was great to see. As awesome as it is to hear Maynard sing, it’s so cool to have him talk to the crowd. And then, although I hadn’t wished for this one, I was thrilled to hear them play Opiate. It was so amazing live. Another one of those moments at this show that words cannot even describe. And then finally, Maynard gave us the “do something positive” speech at which the entire place erupted with cheers. They huddled near Danny and started playing Laterlaus. I knew this was the last song of the night so I told myself to take it all in. That’s exactly what I did. Something about hearing Maynard’s lyrics and watching him on stage and seeing the spinning spiral, which applies to the theme of the song, by the way, was just amazing. Once again, it was a moment that simply cannot be described. It has to be experienced. And then, to top everything off, they gathered for the group hug and headed off the stage one by one. Maynard was first and walked right by us once again. As there were not many people in our section, for some crazy reason, pretty much nobody went over to watch him leave. We were right there though so I yelled to Maynard. This time he didn’t look up. Which was fine too. Adam Jones snuck off behind the back of the stage and Justin came next. He looked right up at us when I told him that he “rule[d]”. He gave our group a wave and kept going. Danny Carey was still onstage, grabbing two of what looked like the tops of his drums and he sent them hurling into the crowd like a Frisbee. One of these landed just a few rows down from us. It had a big curve. He then came right by us, as the other two guys did, once again about 30 feet away. And for some reason it was quiet by then and most people were filing out but as Danny Carey is by far the best drummer alive, if not ever, I stayed where I was and yelled to him. He looked up at me and gave me a fist pump. It was hilarious. We then took off to our car and headed home. What an unbelievable show. What an unbelievable band...

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Not only was this my first Tool show ever, this was just plain my first concert ever. First things first, let me give you the set list because that my be all you're here for: Intro The Grudge (-)Ions [brief] Stinkfist (extended and new words in the bridge) Ticks & Leeches -Maynard says good evening about 30 seconds of Parabol Parabola Pushit (Salival Version [absolutely amazing] w/ Interlude at beginning) Short Jam Schism (w/ Osseus Labyrint and extended bridge) Long Jam (bits of Merkaba?) Disposition Reflection (w/Reggae rap by dude from Tricky) -Break- with Osseus Labyrint Triad (w/ O.L., Danny Lohner on keyboard and percussionist from Tricky) -Maynard says a joke about Danny Lohner and the dude from Tricky Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Opiate (with guy from Tricky) -Turn this into something positive speech Lateralus I am 100% sure that this is correct and 100% sure that it is all in the right order with the exception of the Short Jam and the Long Jam (those two may need to be switched around). Now into the story. I got there about 10 minutes before 7:30 which is when the show started. But once I got there, of course there was the line. I'd say I had to wait for a good 30 to 40 minutes. But no complaints because I still got in before Tool came on. I walked in when Tricky was playing a song of theirs with Justin Chancellor helping out on bass. They played 2 more songs after that and then the preparation started for Tool. The setup was nice. As I've seen in bootlegs and heard in the past, it was the usual. Adam on the left, Maynard sort of in the back and left of the middle just in front of a small projection screen. Danny to the right on a riser and Justin in front of Danny. Also, above the small projection screen were two large projection screens placed side by side. Anyways, when the lights dimmed, everybody started to push and go nuts when they heard the intro and saw the Lateralus eyes on the screens. As Tool launched into The Grudge, it was complete insanity. I had to take a rest on the side because I couldn't breathe. But I got right back in towards the end of the song and saw everything during (-)Ions and Stinkfist. Then they launched into Ticks & Leeches. This actually didn't surprise me too much, although I was VERY happy they played this. The reason this didn't surprise me is because we were the last stop on the mainland before Tool will go to the U.K. so I figured they'd do something special for us....and thank you for doing so :D After Ticks & Leeches, Adam played about thirty seconds of the Parabol intro and then launched into Parabola. I crowd surfed to the front and the security guards directed me to my right to go around the bars since I couldn't climb over them. After coming back, I found my friend Ed who I had lost during the first minute of The Grudge. We took a bit of a breather on the side for the rest of Parabola and all of Pushit. Pushit was absolutely incredible. I have always hoped that once I got the chance to go to a Tool concert, this would be the version that they would play since it is my favorite. Thank you for doing so. So anyways, after their short jam, I went back into the middle at the beginning of Disposition to get a better view of the band. it was amazing. Reflection was extended a while at the beginning for the guy from Tricky (is his name Hawk?) to do his Reggae rap thing. Then they played the normal parts of the song and he joined again in the middle for his Reggae Rap. Then at the end, Adam played the last chords for about 5-7 minutes before Osseus Labyrint came out for the break. After that, the percussionist from Tricky came out to play drums with Danny for Triad. Also the other Danny (Lohner) came out on keyboards and Osseus Labyrint did their thing during the song. I once again surfed to the front and went back around the baracades. Then after Eon Blue Apocalypse, The Patient, and Opiate, I headed back to the middle for the final song "Lateralus" which was absolutely incredible. Unfortunately I didn't get anything that the band threw out into the crowd after this song, but I didn't expect to. It was still the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I was disappointed that they didn't play Forty Six & 2 or Ænema but I'll take Ticks & Leeches over those two any day since it is more of a rare song to hear. Also I would've liked to hear something from Undertow but that's alright...maybe next time. The only complaint I have is about the crowd...it wasn't too bad, but some people were throwing glow sticks at the band and that made me uneasy after what happened in Sacramento. It kind of pissed me off when I picked up a glow stick and some guy asked me for it so he could throw it. I didn't say much besides "no, I want to keep it." because he was bigger than me and he could have kicked my ass. But I wanted to. Also to anybody who's shirt I may have grabbed onto to keep me from falling, I apologize. Especially if I ripped it. I don't think I did rip any shirts, but I'd also like to say thank you for keeping me off of the floor. And also thank you for helping up anybody that did fall down. That's it. Thank you for coming to town, Tool! And I will see you next time. P.S. To all of you, if you have never been to a Tool concert, I know EXACTLY how you feel. When they came to Seattle in August, I was going CRAZY trying to get tickets but I couldn't because I was broke. So here is my advice to you... Do whatever it takes to get these tickets. Save up your money, wait in line for however long it may take, or if you don't want to wait in line then take the chances to maybe have to pay extra on EBAY for these tickets. It is WELL worth it. Just the visuals alone are worth the price of the ticket. Do whatever it takes to go.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

I had always dreamed of Tool to be like a god before I saw them. Now I can say I've had a glimpse of heaven. While standing there 10 feet from Maynard himself I took in every emotion, every bit of energy, and put every worry and problem in life behind me. I was able to enjoy, which now a day later seems like a dream. A dream more incredible then life itself. I dont think I can write anything else about what I experienced because I really have no explanation for it.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

Well, I saw TOOL back in August for their first show in Seattle. I was long awaiting their return, and when the local radio station announced they would be back, I immediately got tickets. I had 4 GA tickets, and it was the greatest experience ever for me and my friends. We got there at about 4:45, and it didn't start till 7:30 so we walked around and talked to scalpers who were selling GA tix for as much as 100 bucks! Well, we got in early, and i was 3 people back from the barricade and Tricky came on. Now, alot of people were yelling "TRICKY SUCKS!" or "TOOL!", but I liked them. On their 2nd song, Maynard came out and sang with them. some jackass next to me goes "Not another member" and I told him he was a fucking moron and that was Maynard from tool. He quickly shut up. Then after Maynard left, he passed Justin who was going to play with Tricky. The same guy says "Now who's this asshole" and i elbowed him in the stomach. Tricky played about 2 more songs, and then they were done. I had the best spot for the best band-TOOL. Before TOOL was even on, people were pushing to get up front, and reading past reviews I thought the pit was going to be mild. I was not prepared for this pit at all. It was worse than Slipknot's pit when I saw them. Anyways, the lights dimmed and the Lateralus "eyes" appeared on the screens to everyones screaming. The band members all took their places, danny clicked his sticks one time and-BAM right into "The Grudge" This was an amazing opening song, and the images flowed smoothly wiht everything else, the crowd was grooving, and I was getting beat up pretty badly (hey i'm pretty small if anyone saw me, i'm 6'2 and 140 pounds, really skinny. I was wearing a red Deftones shirt and long sleeved thermal underneath) After "The Grudge" some of "Ions" started playing and stinkfist clips. I knew what was next, and braced myself for the pit. They skipped the intro and went right into the hard part, and the crowd went nuts. There was an extended bridge, and a bunch of people came in early when he says "I'll keep diggin'.." Next, I began to wander farther back because of my dehydration-i was about to pass out, when the drums start "Ticks and Leeches"!!! I was hoping they would play this so I immediately jumped into a circle pit and got out all my energy. Too bad it was already gone, so I quickly got some water and watched this song from a distance. Looks like they used the 46 + 2 clips from when I saw them in August. Then the first couple notes of Parabol, and into Parabola. I was standing in front of a couple of hot girls during this and one of htem grabbed my ass, before I could turn around and talk to her some big fat guy threw me forward into a circle pit, so if your reading this email me!!! hehehehe. Parabola was great, and at the end, Merkaba started playing. They played aobut 40 seconds of Merkaba and then into the Acoustic Pushit from Salival. This was AMAZING. This was the reason I was there for the most part. I love the build up from the new version to the very end where it gets all fast...it's so beautiful... They tore into schism and in the middle they stopped playing entirely and osseus labyrint came out and walked around for a little while all crazy like. It was so awesome how the crowd liked them and didn't keep saying keep playing tool. THere was about a 4 minute interlude while Adam screwed around with his pedals with a clip of the Undertow ribs moving around on the screen. Some guy next to me told them to hurry the fuck up he could make noise like this at home....I gave him a bad look and waited, for Disposition. After Disposition they smashed into Reflection, and the amazing part was that Adam kept holding the last notes for at least 10 minutes. I found my friend Matt in the pit and he says "Are you wathcing god up there?" And I told him I definately was. This had to be the high part for me, it was so beautiful, I kept feeling his energy, and he walked off as Osseus Labirynt walked onto the stage naked and hung upside down for Triad. After Triad they played Eon Blue Apocalypse and then The Patient. I was really looking forward to this part, because I love this song. Next was Opiate, i was kind of dissapointed they didn't play Ænima, but Opiate is a great song. After Opiate Maynard said that we should take all our energy and transform it into something positive over hte coming weeks, and they tore it up with Lateralus. THey walked off stage, after a group hug, and once again, I was changed for life.

Well tool was absolutley incredible as expected, i would have really liked to hear 46 and 2 but it's hard to complain with opiate and salival pushit. As for tricky, i thought they really fucked reflection, but does anyone know the name of the song they played with maynard? i think it was the third, and man was it incredible. On a final note this was one of the best crowds i've ever been with. everyone looked out for each other, it was really great.

Excellent show. They played "Ticks & Leeches as their third song. At that point, Tool could have left the stage and I would have felt like I had got my money's worth. The guest appearances were pretty cool too. The Salival version of "Pushit" really blew me away too. They were really tight and I think they wanted to leave a big impression on us. It was almost like they were implying that they may take a big break before hitting the U.S. again. Thank you Maynard, Adam, Justin, and Danny for not ever letting us down.

The same setlist from the previous night in Vancouver, EXCEPT FOR TICKS AND LEECHES. Hoo-boy! How I had hoped they would play that song for all the loyal Pacific Northwest fans. I got to be right up fron, "ridin' the rails" as they say. Hmmm. My ribs hurt. So do my ears. As does my brain. A good show all the way around. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the sound was. I remember the Tacoma Dome sound sucking large quantities of arse, but the music was as clear as a bell. Also, the Tacoma Dome staff was wonderful, especially the people that were gaurding the stage. They were friendly, gentle with the dickless jackasses that were crowd-surfing, and generous with the bottled water that seemed to appear out of nowhere. I was also pleased to see the Good Doctor Gottschalk there. Long story short, this concert was more fun than a Texas compound full of drugs, liquor, cult followers, and teargas. I MOCK YOU WITH MY MONKEYPANTS!!! Good day to you, sir.

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

First time seeing Tool in concert, so I was pretty hyped and happy to finally be going (it's been a long couple months). The opening act, Tricky, really stunk it up. By the third song, my friend and I had bolted outside for a smoke, and didn't return until the band we came for was getting their instruments set up. Other people have already posted the setlist, so I'll just offer a few observations as a first timer: 1. Arguably the best played songs of the night: Stinkfist is really, really cool live. Tool had everyone in the bleachers on their feet and totally into it. Pushit basically stopped everyone dead in their tracks. I'd never heard the Salival version of it before, so that was cool as hell. The Patient seemed like it was written to be played live. The acoustics, buildups, breakdowns, everything. This just might've been my favorite song during the entire concert. 2. Ticks and Leeches live really wasn't as good as I thought it'd be. Keenan was actually singing it a couple pitches lower while using a synth, taking away the accomplishment of doing it live and keeping his voice afterward. It was good, but not great. 3. Mad props to the drummer from Tricky, who played percussion alongside Danny in Triad. He was amazing. Just watching the duo go at it was mesmerizing as hell. 4. Tool looked tired. It wasn't quite like singing the songs was becoming strictly routine and not heartfelt, but I got the feeling they'd seen better nights. 5. Whoever the guy from Tricky was that rapped during Reflection, sounded like crap. I came here to see Tool, not Limp Bizkit. Aside from his distracting presence, the rest of the song was great. 6. Those Osseus Labrynt guys during Schism, and later during the intermission up till Triad, were trippy as hell. Cool though. There were only two there, and it would've been fun to have more of 'em. 7. No Ænema, dammit. Guess I'll have to keep catching concerts until they play it here. :-) 8. Opiate was an awesome surprise. They didn't play anything from Undertow though, which kinda stunk. The guy behind me and I were foolishly praying for a miracle (Swamp Song), to no avail. Prison Sex was missed throughout the crowd as well. As much as I enjoy pretty much every song on Lateralus, it would've been great to hear some more older stuff instead of filling up the entire set with it, along with scraps from Ænima and Opiate. That's about it from me, at least until next time. Peace.

This was this reviewer's 6th Tool show

Well, let me start off by saying I am 35 and a huge Tool fan since 1992. I am also no stranger to concerts and have seen countless shows so I know what works and what doesn't. I travelled from out of state to see the Tacoma Dome show which was my 6th Tool show, and I was overall disappointed in the show. The Paramount shows were much better back in August (I would grade them A- and A, respectively). The main complaint I have is that Tool had about an hour section in the middle of the show that was completely wasted; the crowd was totally taken out of the show. It started with a rapper from Tricky ruining Reflection. Then, Adam proceeds to carry the last note of Reflection for 15 minutes (no joke) while everyone wonders what the hell is going on. Next, the lame performance of the contortionists in the air during a prolonged intermission. Finally when it was all said and done, all of Lateralus was played while we heard two songs from Aenima, one from Opiate, and zero from Undertow. I think the concert started well and finished great, but the center was an extreme letdown. I realize Tool wants to set their own standard and not follow convention even on concerts, but this arena tour crossed the line from challenging the audience to just plain alienating them. Tool could fit so much more of their work into 2 1/2 hours it just sickens me. And PLEASE: no more jam sessions with the undercard. We are here to see Tool, not Tool and some hacks trying to get a piece of the limelight. My letter grade for the show: C-

Christian comic books, Full frontal nudity, and Flags falling from the Ceiling,... Well Tricky opened up to a luke warm crowd. Its too bad they couldn't get into him cause he kicked ass at Lollapolooza '97. They played a pretty short set one song had Maynard doing guest vocals with his back to the audience pretty much the whole time. Tool opened up with a bad ass rendition of Parobola(?). Probably the weirdest thing (if I had to choose from all the wierd things) was right after stinkfist was played the giant US flag in the Tacoma Dome fell down. And instead of drifting down to the empty floor it floated over to the stands. I don't think anyone could have purposley knocked it down. It was inbetween songs so I was watching the people kind of turning the flage around and once the next song started up they got the flag stretched out and started waving it for about five minutes until security got a hold of it. Please someone else conform this so it doesn't sound too stupid. That was the wierdest damn thing. Once again Tool put on a bad ass show. Though it wasn't my favorite, my least favorite Tool show still beats any other concert I've been too.

This was this reviewer's 2nd? Tool show

The good: Tool once again proved why they're one of the best live bands on the planet today. You can tell that they put all of their concentration on playing their music too perfection. Maynard's voice never ceases to amaze me, the guy is just incredible and Danny's drum work was once again top notch. I am very pleased that they played Ticks, The Patient and Triad since they didn't play any of those when I saw them last August, all were top notch. The bad: Tricky's voice is just horrible, it just seems as if he just randomly shouts gibberish into the mic every few seconds, thank god Maynard came out and did a song with them otherwise my friend and I would have fallen asleep. I gave Tricky a chance but he's definitely not my style although the music itself didn't sound bad at all. What's up with all the stalling and filler stuff during the middle of the set? Do we really need to hear the last riff of Reflection over and over and over again for what seemed like 15 minutes? Adam's little jam while he was sitting down on the stage was interesting but a little too long for my taste. Just like someone else mentioned in another review, the crowd seemed lost and bored too death with the middle of the set, the rest was great. It just seems as if Tool strayed away from what the fans want to hear and more into what they want too hear. All in all, I'm glad I went even though my seats were VERY shitty, it was worth it too see one of the best bands in the world. Hopefully next time Tool will bring a long a better quality opening act and a more fan friendly set. The first Seattle show last August was absolutely amazing, this one could have been better.

Setlist; The Grudge Stinkfist Ticks & Leeches Parabola Pushit (slow version) Schism Disposition Reflection Intermission Triad Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Opiate Lateralis I went to the Portland show, Vancouver B.c. show and this Tacoma show and last night I was reminded who were the true TOOL fans were and there were not a lot in Tacoma. One of the best songs on Lateralus is TICKS & LEECHES and it barely got a rise out of the crowd. Obviously these idiots only wanted to see H. or OPIATE or SOBER. I am afraid the true TOOL fan would like to see JERK-OFF or HOOKER WITH A PENIS. Maybe we can take the six minutes off the end of REFLECTION and put in FLOOD instead. Just a thought. I am not even sure how many people at the show own LATERALUS. It seemed like they only knew SCHISM and THE GRUDGE. A lot of Linkin Park fans trying to be cool at a real bands show. Every song was amazing, and it seemed as though the power kept building throughout the night. But I don't remember a law being passed saying that you had to do virtually the same set list every other night of the tour. Quick note to about 2000 guys in the crowd last night, Fred Durst called, he wants his clothes back. Other than the Limp Bizkit wannabes and Mullets at the show, the performance was the second best of the three nights. Vancouver was still better.

The show was entertaining. I really did enjoy it, but I've seen em 4 times now this year, and they've been the worst 4 out of the 9 times i've seen em since 1993. they don't play with the same energy anymore. Putting maynard in the back in the dark really hurts the show. I know they're trying to emphasize the music but it's getting old. Hopefully the next tour will have a different setup.

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

This is my third show this year. It was a fucking good one too i might add. these three concerts have easily been the best three concerts of my life. I wish i was a little bit older, so i could have recognized who TOOL was back in the day to see some opiate tours and some undertow tours. It doesnt matter though, the fact matters that i was in the pit during this concert while maynard was singing at the top of his lungs during TICKS AND LEACHES. third time they have played this song im pretty sure, and for all that havent seen it, you guys got raped up the ass cause it was the shit. Tricky and his homey's ruined some of tool's songs, except triad. Danny and tricky drumming for like 10 minutes, with Adam playing that sweet riff on that shit. Hell ya. They crowd was fucking blastin through the 1st 3 songs which were the grudge, stinkfist and ticks. then everyone was mellow for like the middle 6 songs, i wasnt i was headbanging like everyone else should have been. after the patient, i knew it was aenema or opiate. Opiate was played and a big ass mother fucking pit opened up, a fight brewed out of that. the fans went nuts for this song. LATERALUS finished, we'll RIDE THE SPIRAL to the end and may just go where no one's been. Spiral out. Keep going, going...

Fucking Awesome! Everytime I see Tool it is the best show I've ever seen! This time I was actually surprised to see Ticks and Leeches. I was so pumped for that song. Now I have seen everysong on Lateralus performed live. I am also glad Maynard was alittle more talkative tonight. He thank everyone from the O.S. to the video guy to the crowd for making the stop of the tour special and finally to Tricky if he paid him the $ he owes him. I also went to the Portland show a couple of days ago and I'm glad the switched the set a little bit, like Portland got Aenima, Undertow, and the album version of push it and Tacoma got Ticks and Leeches, Opiate, and the Salival version of Push It. Thank you Tool! See ya next tour!

Excellent (pronounce this with full bill and ted enthusiasm) The show was epic, I was suprised at how well they sounded despite being in the tacoma dome. They sounded quite a bit tighter than when I saw them at the Paramount a while back, which was a suprise considering that they were pretty tight at that show.(sorry about the redundancy of that statement) Anyhoo, I was real impressed with Triad, sure I like the album version a helluva lot, but it sounded truly awe inspiring live. BTW, tricky was pretty good even though i'd never really heard anything of his before. Thank you TOOL.

It's been two days since the show and I'm still feeling the rush. We were in the beer garden when they started doing sound check and thought we'd better drink 'em and get out there. We got about 30 feet from the stage and could see everything quite well when the lights went down and they opened with The Grudge. The crowd went crazy and we were pushed to the front. It was amazing. Ticks & Leeches!! The crowd didn't calm down until they played Push it, Salvial version. It was beautiful. The rest of the show was calm, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. My favorite was Lateralus, the visuals were killer and the sound was unbelievable. Thanks for an unforgetable evening! Can't wait to have the chance to see them again.

My god this show was absolutely amazing! Though i cant quite comprehend what actually happened, i do know that no concert i have ever been to has ever been so damn good. Maynard was just godly as was everyone else in the group. I thought tricky did a good job opening but it seemed that others did not apreciate good music, for their minds were to narrow. the crowd was alright except for a select few, like the dumb bitch that kept screaming at the top of her lungs pissing numerous people off. and some of the people there were how can i say prepishly gay. other than that i saw alot of good hardcore fans. I just hope everyone else enjoyed the experience as much as i did.

This was my 2nd Tool show. I was a fan of earlier Tool, but never got that chance to see them while they were touring older music. I must say that this show was very amazing. Maynards unbelievable unique incredibly soothing voice was pefect every second of every word spoken. Adam was as well, mysteriously amazing, his long locks covering his face as he played. Danny on his drums and Justing playing guitar completed the mesmorizing act. I wish I was still there. I was up right in front on the barriers for at least 2 minutes, sad, but true. Then some ass told the security to pull me our because I am not a very big person, but the two minutes while they were all just right in front of my eyes. I would do anything to meet Tool. I have met Maynard once before, at an APC show, but meeting Tool would be a great experience. The nude identitiies hanging upside down from the cables, making movements fast and suttle was also a very good part of the show. Almost the best. I love when the two bodies reached out and grabbed eachother together. That was very symbolic. They played for a good 2.5-3 hours, which was a definite plus. They perfomed together with tricky and another member from tricky. Maynards moves on stage were so hypnotic. He banged hard and with softer music, he moved so slow and loose. I loved it, it was a wonderful show and I am lucky to have to experience that.

This was this reviewer's 4th Tool show

Well there isn't much that I can add to all that was said about the show. Being that it was my fourth time seeing tool, I pretty much know what to expect eventhough they always supprise me. I got to bring along my friend with me this time and she has never seen tool or ever been to a concert before. Because of this it was like I was seeing tool for the first time. I got to experience everything through new eyes. It was intense. Anyways, my friend and I got there at around two o'clock and waited in line for four hours until they finally let us in. We got to be in the front row in the center, so we got a perfect view of everything. When tricky came on the crowd got a little agrivated like they always do for an opening band. Everyone just wants tool to come on. Maynard came out and sang a song with them however, which was cool. Then tool came on. I don't know what it is about Maynard, but every time that I have seen him, even for a perfect circle, the crowd goes insane. I have to say that tool crowds are one of the most violent, I don't know why. I was able to stay up in the front, however, during the whole concert. This was not an easy thing to do and I have the bruises to prove it but it is always worth it just to be that much closer. It was an awesome show as always. They played the Saliva version of Pushit, which has to be one of my favorite songs. I was supprised at how much Maynard talked to the crowd. When I saw him at the Paramount, he just did his do something useful speech and that was it. This time though, he had more to say. I love to hear him talk. There is just something about his voice..... There isn't much else to say, except I can't wait to see them again and the group hug was very touching.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

i would just like to say that that was the greatest experience of my life. it was absolutely wonderful. just everything. at first, i thought that it might not be any better than the first time i saw them at the paramount because it was so personal and had great sound..i figured that they probably wouldnt change the program much from the first time, either. well, i was very grossly wrong. i mean, there were definitely many similarities, but that was absolutely the most spectacular...thing...ive ever witnessed. on my way in to the concert i was almost caught off guard by some christian protesters waving around signs with "jesus" printed on them. i didnt really expect to see them there and i felt as if i should go talk to them to at least try to explain that tool is not in the least satanic but rather focus on the beauty of our experience and life. i think that most of the people there were doing a great job of convincing them otherwise...but i was already in line and was not about to give up my spot. but that marked my initial disappointment of how tool is very misunderstood, and im not just talking about the protesters... before the show even began, i got to watch danny carey play basketball (looked like he was playing horse with...someone..)near where i was sitting and that just completely caught me off guard. I mean, the man is going to be playing in front of thousands of people in an hour and hes playing horse backstage. awesome. but anyway. the show. first of all, tricky was great..i had never been exposed to their music before but i actually liked it even though i didnt expect i would... at first i was baffled 'cause there were 8 people on stage, i think, and it looked like most of them were only up there to dance. it was the weirdest thing ive ever seen. tricky himself as well as the other vocalist(s) did not face the audience, but the band...almost excluding the audience (and taking frequent inhalations of, well, ill leave that to your imagination). it almost made me think that we (the audience) were getting to see something special..that they were just jamming up there having a great time unaware of thousands of people watching. it was wonderful. justin came on stage and helped them out basswise with a song...but i missed most of that cuz i had my eyes closed, just completely absorbed in the sounds. and then tool. oh, god, tool....they put on the best show ever. nothing compares nor will it ever unless they outdo themselves. just as last time at the paramount, they all walked calmly out on stage as the crowd is just going crazy (adam not wearing feet attire again), the screen rolled down and they just began to play. the grudge first, just like last time. and i dont remember the exact order of songs after that...but i know that this time they played almost every single song off lateralus (even ticks and leeches although a very distorted version to spare maynards voice) and did not concentrate so much on integrating Ænima or opiate (and i dont think they pulled anything out of undertow at all). although they did play (salival) pushit, at which point in time i was so overwhelmed with just how beautiful everything was i must admit that i began to cry. every song they played was accentuated by the wonderful visuals which included symbols of sacred geometry and the traditional alex grey artwork that accompanied the music. very intense. i was a bit disappointed that they did not play 46&2, but i got the privilege of seeing that at the paramount, so im consoled umm... they brought the contortionists (osseus labrint) with them on tour this time...and they were just beautiful. they came out during adams "solo" on reflection, after "dancing" to schism, for the band's break time. they climbed to the top of the stage, to the top of the projector screen, and hung upside down for what must have been more than 30 minutes performing impossible acrobatics and moving in the most disturbingly beautiful way possible to triad (an extremely long version of triad). they were dressed in silver body suits which caught the psychedelic lights of the projector as they moved..it was mesmerizing. and the visuals, although i was very impressed with them the first time, were somehow managed to be improved upon. during reflection, tool had tricky vocalist come out and start rapping. actually, i think tricky came out a few times throughout the entire show..but i definitely think it is really amazing what tool can pull off. i myself dont really like or even respect most rap, but bringing that guy out showed that there are MANY forms of art out there...he, tricky, was just completely there and moving to the music and enjoying it..and feeling it. it sounded wonderful and really liberating to me, though i dont know about the rest of the audience...they didnt seem to appreciate it. this being (as tool announced) trickys last show and tools last show in the 48 continental states, i think that we got many special treats. i cant say how much of what we saw was a completely new addition to the tour cuz i didnt see other shows, but tool was constantly being accompanied by someone on the stage (there was even a guest drummer..and whoever it was had mastered their skill). every guest which appeared always gave the guys of tool big hugs before leaving the stage... finally, to end the show maynard gave a speech. from my experience i think, for maynard, that was a pretty long speech. he went on to thank everyone involved in the tour, explained the genital situation with tricky and danny lohner (oh yeah, danny lohner came out and helped with something, perhaps he was the guest drummer), and thanked the audience for making their last performance so special. and then they broke into a beautiful version of lateral(i/u)s and ended the show with a big group hug, throwing stuff to the crowd (something danny threw came within feet of my seat), justin flashing his man chest to the audience, and waving their goodbyes. i have never been so amazed...ever. great seats.. the only let down to the entire night was the audience. i was incredibly displeased with the majority of the audience. i was seated behind two gentlemen who had had a little too much to drink (and smelled horribly of alcohol and cologne) and were very distracting... very disrespectful. actually, many people were very disrespectful when it came to the rapping as well as adams solo at the end of reflection (which i considered one of the most powerful points of the entire show... when the band just left adam up there for what seemed like at least 5 minutes playing the end of reflection) saying they "wanted to rock out" and even going to far as to yell at adam to shut up. it is my wish that everyone who attended the show would truly learn to appreciate what tool is and what they have provided for us. besides that..i dont know what to say. i couldnt begin to describe just how beautifully harmonic the show was despite how long this review is. it is impossible for me to capture every aspect of this show in words...and "an inexact speech serve an exact knowledge". you would just have to live it. it was just mind blowing. tool is amazing and i owe so much to them. i am incomprehensibly grateful that i was able to attend this show. the end.

TOOL @ the Beautiful Tacoma Dome (Set list already posted) I was fortunate enough to catch Tool 3 times consecutively in a row this past week: Portland, Vancouver, and Tacoma. In my opinion, this by far being the best show (in fact, I was slightly disappointed in the Vancouver show.) This was simply amazing, fucking intense, and completely mind blowing. One of, if not, the best display of musical prowess and capacity I have had the pleasure of witnessing. Having problems wondering why Tool is arguably the best band in the world? Tacoma’s show is proof positive. The members were all in top form. Danny’s golden kit was lit up the whole evening and he shook the entire arena as if Zeus had come down and decided to play, Justin was going nuts and working the bass like a madman, Adam was just….awesome, and Maynard was in shades and a slick overcoat--perfect (loved how he lifted them and smiled while everyone chanted ‘I‘ll keep digging‘ off time during the new version of Stinkfist.) His movements and actions went from mesmerizing and profound to simply bad-ass (gotta love that stomp). Every song they played was executed in the most excellent form I have heard, many of the tracks sounding BETTER than their studio counterparts. Time shifts were butter smooth, every note was played perfectly, every kick was thundering, and Maynard‘s voice resonated with perfection. To add to that, the sound was the EXCELLENT (surprising for the Tacoma Dome--nice work sound techs!). The entrance the band made was amazing, opening with the Grudge (best sounding version yet), going into the new version of Stinkfist, then playing TICK AND LEECHES!!! Jesus! From that point on the energy level NEVER dropped. Push It was once again different and ever better than before, Opiate was just incredible, and the closing of Lateralus was the usual, but my god! This amount of energy and ferocity was never heard of on the studio version. All in all, this show encompassed everything Tool is to me: intensely bi-polar, explosive while being extremely emotive, and pure musical genius. Nothing short of inspirational. I was sober the entire time, by the way. Tricky was excellent as well, Maynard snuck on stage in street clothes for one song and Justin jammed with the band for about 20min-awesome! Tricky made his usual Opiate cameo, Perry tore it up with Danny on Triad, and Tricky’s freestyle MC (sorry can’t remember his name) came in with ultra-deep flows over Reflection which sounded primo. Whoever talks down about Tricky--he was probably finishing up Massive Attack before you could knew what STP meant. He is a musical genius in his own right, and his new material sounded great at every show. Excellent opener. On some side notes, nothing was played from Undertow unfortunately, but the fact that I wasn’t actively missing it was evidence in its own right that this show was amazing (plus I was fortunate enough to hear Undertow in Portland.) The crowd was sub-par, mostly comprised of idiots who just tried their hardest to get to the front or punch each other in the face. There was no crowd control, entrance into the venue was horrendous, and I was on the rail until intermission when security pulled me because they thought I had sustained too much injury (well worth it though). Portland and Vancouver had MUCH better crowds (I could actually stay on the rail the entire time at Portland.) The visuals were amazing as usual. Additionally, my girlfriend spotted the band shooting hoops with Tricky to the side of the stage during setup, which was quite entertaining (Maynard and Justin, work on your jump-shot, Danny kicked your asses) Maynard was very energetic and talkative: ‘I have some unfortunate news, I just learned that (someone from Tricky) was born with 3 testicles--luckily (someone else from Tricky) was born with 2 dicks. They have surgery scheduled for tomorrow’ (loose quote.) He rightfully thanked their crew, video tech, their fans, and he gave his usual inspirational speech. And his Matrix-esque getup-- sweet! Once again, thank you guys for creating an unforgettable and inspirational night!

Best Tool show I've ever seen. Being in the stands, I didn't have to deal with knuckleheads punching and elbowing you, but the floor was entertaining to view from above. The crowd was like the ocean, bobbing, weaving and flowing with the music. I felt the crowd was Awesome. Energetic and receptive to what the band was doing onstage. It seemed like TOOL felt this and used these positive vibes to push the music to the limit. EVERYONE was standing up from the moment the lights dimmed, the stands shaking with foot stomps and dancing. Maynard thanked the crowd numerous times towards the end of the show, and I would just like to say to them, THANK YOU!!! Show Highlight: Ticks and Leeches was a very nice surprise. And Triad was visually and auditorially stunning. I couldn't decide whether to watch the drummers, the crowd, the video screens, or the contortionists dangling from 30 feet in the air. Never thought a drum off could be so entertaining.

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

This show was truly amazing. HIGHLIGHTS: -Crowd wasn't too bad, only a couple of people chanting "TOOL" during Tricky's set, and there was a mosh pit, but for the most part it wasn't disrupting anyone who didn't want to be a part of it -Tricky was okay, I really like the opening song, and the one that Maynard sang on -Stinkfist was just powerful and mindblowing (I especially loved the new section, which I'd heard before, but it's so refreshing that they can evolve older songs into completely different ones, or just add new sections, as opposed to staying completely true to the album. It really shows musicianship and freshens up older songs....just look at Pushit, both versions are beautiful and different in their own way) -Osseus Labyrinth was amazing, they really added to the whole visual effect of the show -Triad was godsent, it was the greatest piece of art (combined with Osseus Labyrinth and the drummer from Tricky) that I have ever witnessed, I think everyone (at least eveyone around me) was totally mesmerized and into it (especially those of you that were stoned) -The Patient was probably the most powerful thing I have ever witnessed (and MAY ever witness) in my entire life, you could feel the energy flowing through -Adam's solo section at the end of Reflection when he played the last part of the song over and over. He was appauded with a huge ovation at the Spokane show, but for some reason the city-dwellers didn't take to it too well. I though it was wonderful. - Opiate was an unexpected suprise, unbelievable in a live setting (Tricky's guest appearence could be taken or left, it didn't add anything too special and didn't detract too much either) -Of course, Ticks & Leeches. I was somewhat suprised and completely blown away with this song. DOWNSIDES: -Maynard's synth(ed) voice during T & L. I think it would have been amazing, and made the song even better (well I guess different better, not necessarily better better), but the clarity was not very good, it was kind of drowned out by the guitars and the sound system wasn't made for that type of combination.....I guess -I'm not a big fan of Merkaba (personally I like some melody in the instrumentals, I love Triaad) it went on for quite a while and I wished they'd have thrown another song in, or jammed on something else MISC. STUFF -I'm not disapointed by the absence of Undertow material nor the scarcity of Opiate material. While I love these records as much as the latter two albums, I have heard many, if not all, of these songs in the live format at sometime and was ready to take on the newer material in the live setting (Sorry for those of you who only wanted to hear Sober, Prison Sex, and Aenima) -I can't wait till they come back and I'm dying to hear the new evolutionary stage of Tool material that will be on the next album

I wish they would have played more of their old stuff, but it was nice to know that i am one of few who got to see ticks and leeches live. maynard seemed a bit tired, worn out from touring maybe. he had the mic on a stand the first few songs, and didn't really move around much. understandable, but slightly dissappointing. i wish he had gotten naked. i love that. Osseus Labrint was amazing. Camella on video duty was awesome as well. the group hug at the end was touching. i love tool. JC

ahh GA for TooL. two words...damn amazing...Tool is by far the best live act working today and truly pour their heart and soul into each and every preformance. First off i have to say that this wasn't quite as good as the 2nd show at the Paramount(Undertow was bad ass) but it was very close. whoever said that Tool looked tired though was dead on...they looked very worn out. nonetheless they pulled out everything they had to give us a good show. Tricky was alright...the guitarist was good and the song with Maynard was excellent....i just wished they would've stayed backstage during Tool's set. Tool of course opened with "The Grudge" to a very surprisingly lively pit which would continue until Pushit. i was a little confused that Maynard wasn't onstage during "Ticks and Leeches" but the song was still pretty damn good. Parabola was by far the best song of the night but it was refreshing to hear songs like Stinkfist and Opiate as well. just a few interesting tidbits, complaints and comments to bring up about the show.... -Osseus Labyrint was unreal. they were hanging upside down for at least 20 minutes during Triad. it was spellbinding to say the least. for a moment they looked like hanging corpses. -I DON'T THINK ANYONE ELSE BROUGHT THIS UP SO READ THIS IF YOU SEE IT.....anyone remember the nude pics of 2 different men that flashed on the screen(ala Fight Club) duing the jam sessions???? you couldn't really see the faces but they did somewhat bare a striking resemblance to Adam and Justin no? pretty damn ingenious...funny too... -someone told me the US flag was cut during Stinkfist... -wish Adam wouldn't playing the same damn 4 notes for 20 minutes... -wish they woulda played Sober... -wish they woulda player Jerk-Off... -wish they woulda played Cold and Ugly... -wish they woulda played Eulogy.... ahh...fuck it i hate complaining...guess you can't win'em all... overall though it was a great show. a solid 8 in my book with the Paramount preformance being a 9...only real downside was that their was just way too much filler that coulda easily been replaced with a song or 2(or 3...or 4...or 5...) from Undertow(ZERO UNDERTOW SONGS!!!)....Tool still gave us a good evening however and left us with more then our money's worth...

This was this reviewer's 6th Tool show

Before the show, I prayed for Ticks & Leeches…………. AND TOOL DELIVERED!!!!! I wasn’t expecting to hear it until after Triad, and especially not as their 3rd song!!! I was so caught off guard, I wasn’t sure if it really was Ticks, but as soon I heard Maynard belt out “SUCK AND SUUUUUUUUUCK” I knew I was right. Holy shit, I feel so lucky to have been able to hear that song live, considering it’s only the 3rd time they have played it. The other two times they did play it, Maynard said it was a dedication to Fantomas/Hollywood celebs. Tonight there were no dedications, they just fucking played it because they wanted too. The reason they haven’t been playing it is because Maynard threw out his voice when they were recording it. However, he went off stage and it sounded like he was using an effect on the vocals to create a similar “screaming sound” so that he wouldn’t lose his voice. I have a feeling that on the next tour Maynard will continue to use that effect and that Ticks will become a staple in the set list. At least I hope so!!!!!! After my fantastic experience at Shoreline, I wasn’t sure that the Tacoma show would top it. I was way wrong. I had three songs I was hoping to hear, ones that I thought would have a remote chance of coming together. When they played Ticks I didn’t think anything would beat it. But getting to hear Pushit from Salival took me even higher. So what would be the chances of hearing Opiate? Fuck me, they played that one too!!! Ending with their standard closer, Lateralus…..that message, I will take with me. I’ve now seen TOOL 4 times in the last week and I will go see them perform as many shows as I can on their next tour. Each time I saw them it was a different experience. In Sacramento I was able to get a lot of aggression out on a GA floor that was filled with unappreciative jerks who threw shoes at the band. At Shoreline the show projected a force that evoked very positive vibes that I was able to share with someone very special to me. At the Portland show the GA crowd was great, I was able to get up really close to the stage and watch Danny shred the skins. Finally, in Tacoma they went out with a bang playing Ticks & Leeches and thanking the crowd, their road crew, as well as Tricky & crew. And speaking of Tricky, they rock!!! Sure, they aren’t as good as TOOL, but who is? If you couldn’t feel the energy in the rhythms of their music, I have pity cause you missed out. Furthermore, headlining bands don’t choose to bring an opening act on tour with them, to perform with them during their sets, to be a part of the whole experience that they don’t have an appreciation for. Finally, I have to say Osseus Labrint are an amazing pair of artists. I definitely see the reason why TOOL chose to include them in their shows. The message of the OL performance, the Schism song/video, and the whole Lateralus album is clear to me. Finally, I’d like to say once again that TOOL is a collaboration of incredibly gifted artists that have the power to take us to levels we never thought possible. There have been many people that have tried to classify TOOL into a genre, what they’ve come up with, just doesn’t do justice. TOOL is not Rock, they are not even Heavy Metal, they are just TOOL…………..THEY ARE THEIR OWN GENRE. Well, there you have it…….thanks all that is TOOL……see you on the other side…..

This band only gets better with age. I do want to say that Maynard was on-stage for Ticks and Leaches, but he was sitting down on the left side of his riser. I'm sure that song takes a lot out of him. This concert was the second time I saw them this week; I also saw them in Spokane. Both shows were great, but I think this one rated a little higher. I can't wait to see them again, and again, and again.....

Now I want to see a show of hands. Out of the people who went to both seattle shows (tricky + crimson) is there anyone out there who thought the paramount show was better... I'd really like to hear from all the fucknuts who flamed me over my August 6th review. Come on, out of the closet pansies. Anyway, just wanted to say that's the Tool concert I've been waiting 10 years to see. Thanks maynard for the most rocking concert I've been to all summer, bumping pantera/slayer down a notch, and to re-affirm Tool as one of my favorite bands ever. Where to start... the naked hanging dancing people, that bad-ass snakish swirly light display, tool's unbelievable sound cranking out loud enough give nosebleeds, the chick in the leather pants (private moment :) ), bodies flying everywhere in the pit, serving BEER at the concert. The energy level of the tacoma dome is ridiculously high, everyone was going fucking crazy. Ticks and leeches was by far my favorite song of the night with Opiate coming in at a close second. The song order was well fucking planned as well, a few really fast songs, then some slow ones so you can go pound some beers and watch from the entrance, then back into the madness for another round of kicking it with tacoma's finest. (I've never been to a bad show in tacoma.. you people are fucking nuts!) Maynard... I knew you guys could put on the best show... Thanks for not disappointing!!! Gilles Comeau comeaugilles@yahoo.com

A concert usually starts with the drive to the venue. I live a couple hours a way from the tacoma dome, so the drive down was tremendously long for me. Unlike the Paramount show in august, i wasn't as anxious. I was quite tired, but nothing out of the ordinary. We took my best friend to this concert, to show him the amazing world tool introduces the audience to: to feel our excitment. I would like to clear a couple things up that I have had trouble putting words to about tool concerts. So comment if you have a comment, I would like opinions :) Tool is a SHOW. They do more than just play their set and go home each night. They provide a different feel, not so much band member to audience interaction but more abstrast entertaiment. They excell in their live preformences, and give a display of art open for the audience to interpret in different ways so be how they see fit. (I.e - the visuals and people hanging from ropes) They also go the extra mile. Not only do they sound better live, they provide the bang for the buck! The guest appearance by members from tricky was awesome. I think we should be thankful they were willing to open up and share a different experience with us... to hopefully help us see the songs for the first time again. If anyone knows what song maynard sang to with tricky, let me know! It was great. and lastly, I sat in section 8a row 23 seat 22... and the guy who sat next to me who attended the Eugene show with King Crimson, thanks man... I didn't know anyone around me and he made me feel comfort, the show was enjoyable. Tool was amazing as always, great crowd... awesome presence and It was an honor to be in the crowd when they did amazing preformences of Ticks and Leeches, Reflection, Opiate and many many more. I look forward to the next round of tool, and they next round of blissful confusion mixed just enough for my human eyes to see through the fuzzy static tool dishes out. Thanks and good night. DK

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. So far, out of all of the shows I have seen, this was one of the most intense and trance filled show yet. The drum solo with dude from tricky was unbelievable. Tricky with maynard in opiate was the ultimate riff and a very pleasing suprise. The Tacoma dome was so-so, nothing like the paramount or the gorge, but it worked. Sound quality was fair and lighting was not the full effect, but all in all , great show. oh yeah, one more thing, TICKS AND LEACHES FUCKING ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody can say that they have seen them play that live but the folks in Seattle!! The way they ended the tour, very good feelings seeing the band thankful for a great tour was great. i felt great seeing that they ended their tour in my home city. See ya on the next turn boys!! Thank you for a great tour. later

This show was fabulous!!! I think I enjoyed it more than the smaller Seattle show that I paid a scalper $250 for two tix. One of the few shows I've seen where I've bounced along with the opener (Tricky) rather than going to get another beer. I was a little um fixated on Osseus Labyrint when they came out (tho I'm short and couldn't see them onstage, only in the air) and I was thinking the whole time, are they nekkid? Yes, they were. And for the main show, I really was celebrating this chance to be alive. I didn't even notice the people around me. Tricky's guest appearance just fit seamlessly, as did May's guest during Tricky's set. So glad they played the slow Pushit. SO glad they played, at all. Can I wait another 3 years? I hope so, but it was well worth it. The only detractor I can think of (5 days later) were the mooks in the crowd. If you're in the Pit, expect to be there the whole show. Don't be a whiny girlfriend and demand your boyfriend drag you out in the middle of the show. Don't be an ass and make your girlfriend stand in the pit. Wear deodorant, fer chrissakes!! And if you're not in the Pit when the show starts, don't shove everyone out of the way to get in. You were late, idiot!! Everyone else wasn't!! Sorry for the schizo review, but I'm still glowing. All this AND Tori Amos the next night!! And damn it Jane's Addiction the night before!! It's so cool to live in Seattle! I love this place!!

After seeing two excellent shows at the Paramount earlier this summer, i was very disappointed in the Tacoma show. For Tool to play in an arena sized venue, i surely thought that they would let it all hang out and play their best stuff for audience waiting to erupt. Instead we were treated to a show that included a terrible singer/rapper that just didn't fit in, contortionists right off Cirque du Soleil, and a middle setlist that could make a baby fall asleep. But of course, the opening and closing sets were amazing. I love Tool's music. I feel they got a bit too artistic in creating a theatrical production rather than focusing on their music. I felt a bit ripped off not to experience at least one song off Undertow, in my mind their best album. Hopefully the next tour will eliminate all this needless fluff and Tool will get back to showcasing what's made them stand out amongst all these so-called rock bands - their timeless music.

OK everyone out there. This show was absolutly awesome. One problem with most of the reviews. Their songs are all right but most forgot to mention that M.J.K and JC both played with tricky in the beginning. Just thought i might say that for all ya tool fans out there. -The Cat

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

This was my 2nd TooL show. The first was the aug 6 paramount show, which was fucking awesome. King Crimson rule and TooL rule...enough said. In my opinion the Tacoma show surpassed the Paramount show though, but not by much. Sound quality wasn't as as good and the mood wasn't as good, but jesus christ the tacoma show fucking kicked ass. I arrived just as Tricky was coming on and they were awesome. I hadn't heard a whole lot before, but i was really impressed by Tricky. It's too bad that there are always a bunch of cocksuckers that hurl insults at whatever band opens for TooL for the sole reason that that band isn't tool, and that that band's lead singer isn't Maynard, but I was able to get past all that and dig the music. After Tricky's set, which seemed a little short, Tool came out and everything was wonderful. I was a little bummed that TooL didnt play anything off Undertow, but after all it was a tour for Lateralus, so naturally a majority of the songs are going to be off it. Yeah, every song that TooL played that night was fucking awesome, especially that kick- ass version of Triad with the dude playing steel drums alongside danny carey's godlike drumming. I swear to god that song put me in a trance. I really liked the different version of Reflection too. Oddly enough, i thought that Tricky's weird mantra/chant/rap thing really fit in well with Reflection. After all, i can hear the regular version whenever the hell i want. I thought it was cool that they were putting a whole new twist on the song. Let's face it...TooL are the epitome of good music. When a band has not one song that is even remotely close to sucking and when that band can successfully pull off an elaborate stage show like the one TooL did, its pretty obvious that that band Rules!!!! This concert made my list as second favorite concert ever, and it was only barely beaten by NIN's show at the Gorge last year. I congratulate TooL ans Tricky for putting on such a fucking awesome show. Bands like Linkin Park can burn in the fiery clutches of Lucifer. Amen

Hey, Jeremy Weisburg. Grow a brain and check out the set lists for other shows. Tool played Ticks and Leeches twice before this show. If you were a real Tool fan you would regularly check two Tool websites, Toolband.com and of course, this one.

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. Excellent show! They actually made the "Tacky Dome" quite nice by curtaining off a quarter of the dome. I'm not sure if somebody mentioned Maynard singing vocals with Tricky but it could have arguably been the best song of the night. Not much to say that the first guy didn't already say. Only thing is he should try not to be such an idiot when he screams at the band. I think it is important to note that they pretty much played the entire Lateralus album.(per # 1 review)It was probably my second favorite show, only because my seats at the Mercer were so good and it was so loud. Much like #1's review. It is amazing to see them from the side stage at Lollapalooza in 92?93? and progress to what they are today. They had it all along. What a ride! Hands down....Lateralaus was the best song of the night and concluded the show perfectly.
