Hey, I would really like to know the setlist so I can make a final decision on whether it will be worth it to go to the 3rd Tool show in Arizona. What would be the point if the set list was the same as the last two showes? O'doyle Rules!!!

Setlist- Sober Ions(-) Grudge Stinkfist(Extended) Schism H. (Intermission, animations) Parabol/Parabola Aenima Disposition (Drum section inbetween somewhere with Danny and another guy, I think Maynard said Paul Jones or something to that effect) Reflection Triad Lateralus I can't say the order is entirely correct, but it is close, and those are all of the songs that were played. The animations were excellent. This was my first Tool show, and they had the mezzanine barricaded to anybody under 21. Before the show started, hundreds of us spilled over it to the dismay of the "security." Anything I have to say about this show has all ready been said about past shows. Ineffability; words do no justice. Farewell.

This is a simple plea to those attending the Idaho show - don't be a dick. If you're old enough to remember, the last time Tool came to town in ended on a VERY sour note...I didn't think they would ever come back. It is not necessary to beat the shit out of others in the "pit" in order to enjoy a Tool concert (how do you mosh to their music anyways? you must have no rythm). If that's what you're into, go see POD - they like that shit. Don't throw stuff at the band, they don't like that shit. If you must beat on someone, at least have the decency to wait til you get home to your significant other...then let that bitch have one for me too. Tool's music is creative and emotional - feel it, but don't pummel other concert-goers because your penis is small...that's your dad's fault, not ours. Show some respect to Tool, Meshugga, and other's. If you act like an adult, they just might come back. And if you fuck up my show, I will hunt you down and cut off both your nipples. Yours Truly, Dirk Kempthorne, Mayor of Boise

I'm 15 I was one of them kids to get into the "pit" somtime during sober. The whole thing was awesome! The animation going note to note with the music was one of the highlights of my time. It finally got some of the songs to give me somthing to picture in my mind of what the song "looks like" I was kind of disapointed about the length of the show i was thinken it would be at least 3 hours, but it was still well worth it!

The setlist has been posted so i wont bore you. the show of course was awesome. maynard started the show out in his full black leather, but came back in his boxer-briefs. He was face painted half black half (green maybe), hard to tell in the dark. Sober as an opener kicked ass. i was hoping to hear some more old stuff (jerk off, cold and ugly) but was not disappointed. the mere fact that tool has the balls to play alaska is enough for me. kick ass visuals on three screens, and the sound system was amazing. before leaving the stage, maynard jumped on danny's back and got a piggy back ride, then a big group hug. danny spent a little extra time on stage clapping and giving the croud the thumbs up. overall, mind blowing. we are starved up here for quality shows, and TOOL fucking delivered. TOOL FUCKING TOOL. thanks guys!

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

A friend of mine went on vacation and saw Tool in Baltimore recently. I was wishing that I could have gone too, especially after he told me all about the show, but then I found out a few days later that were coming up here. HA! sooo.... the show. The theme for this tour (I dont know if this is a new thing for them) seems to be inspiring people to be/feel/do positive. It certainly touched me that way, and did for many of my friends that went. There were quite a few high points in the show where I felt completely lifted up in some way. Between the video projections and the music it was overwhelming. I have to say that I never thought they would come up here, even though I felt like they would do really well. We just don't get many good bands here, let alone something like Tool. So I guess since nobody has left a review here yet ill give a superficial rundown of the show. Before the lights went down ALOT of people came running down out of the seats and streamed over a fence onto the floor of the arena, running over the security in the process. It was somewhat alarming and I was a little nervous that it might turn into a riot and cancel the show. Luckily not. Speaking of the crowd, it was a very LOUD audience. My friend that saw the Baltimore show said that the AK audience was WAAAYYY louder and energetic. Apparently the band is doing roughly the same show as the last leg of the tour. the started out with some very orchestral sounding music, and then kicked into Sober. I can't convey the setlist because I wasn't taking notes. They played for about 2 hours though. There was an intermission of sorts... extrememely loud "noise"(for lack of a better description) along with the face ripping off the skull loop. Coming out of the break they played the slower music from Lateralus and then went into a drum thing with another guy playing roto-toms with Danny. From there it built up and then maybe played another song before playing Lateralus as the last song. The house lights went up quickly so as to dispell the chants of MOREMOREMORE. They did end with Maynard getting on the shoulders of Danny and the band throwing out water bottles and hugging. I will eventually figure out exactly what they played, but right now I am still processing the fact that I got to watch them, and experience them, playing thier music. Theres something special about that band, and maybe its just that thier honest. I will have to see them again, and hopefully they will come here again since it was a near sold out show. Actually, I think it did sell out but then they made 1,300 more tickets available on the last day. If I had to say anything negative about the show it would only be that they didn't bring up the whole visual aspect that I had heard about. There was 2 screens at the rear of the stage, and one small one behind Maynard. Missing was the Alex Grey curtains and Parabola grape looking things. Thats a small complaint though. OH.... it was the best sound I have heard in that venue. Sports arena's are bad places for music, but I could hear every little thing that they played. Even the tone of the drums was clear. Very impressive.

i just copied the post i made from toolarmy, i really didn't feel ike writing up an entire seperate one this was my first tool show, so i really don't have anything to compare it to. but overall i thought it to be a great show. the only major complaint was that it was at the sullivan arena. for those of you who don't know, the sullivan has a terrible sound system. many times maynards vocals were washed out by the other instruments. all things aside though, each member seemed to be in top form. manard hit every note, he held his scream during "the grudge" without faltering once. i was just overwhelmed by their perfromance. i never thought that they'd come up here, so i was just happy to finally see this tight group of guys doing what they do best. here's the setlist as far as i can remember. i'm pretty sure it's in the right order sober the grudge H stinkfist schism aenima parabol parabola disposition reflection triad lateralus hearing them play parabol and parabola together was amazing. thought that would be the highlight, but no . . . . then they came back out and played disposition, reflection and triad together. one long seamless movement that jarred the senses and made you want to cry. the pure energy that these guys put out was unbelievable. after a brief farewell speech from maynard, prompting us to do something positive with this experience, they closed with lateralus. at the beginning of the song, justin, adam and maynard gathered around danny's kit for the entire intro. it sent shivers down my spine to see them perefectly in tune to one another. after all was said and done, they stood on stage while the entire stadium errupted into applause for a good five minutes or so. they all looked genuinely happy. maynard jumped onto danny's back as he carried him around the stage a bit. before they threw out tokens to the crowd and waved, they embraced as a group . . . . . . i was actually quite surprised to see them stick around so long after the last song. maynard departed before the others; but adam, danny and justin stuck around for a minute clapping, waving and smiling at everyone. it felt really good to see that they enjoyed themselves as much as we all did. god, i love this band i would like to have heard more from undertow though. not to mention third eye, jimmy, 46&2, push it etc . .etc ..etc .. . but hey, i'm just happy that i finally got to see this phenomenal group perform

Setlist: Sober The Grudge (-) ions Stinkfist (extended) H. Schism (new intro) Parabol Parabola Aenema Intermission Disposition Reflection Triad (extended w/Sasha (?) on roto-toms) Lateralus Comments: Apparentely Tool still considers this the same tour, given the setlist. But they played H., so I can't complain too much. The venue was complete shit. The acoustics are awful. Half the time I couldn't hear what Maynard was saying when he was talking. After The Grudge he said "Good evening" and something else I couldn't make out. Before Aenema, he said "You guys had an earthquake up here, right? It might be a good idea... to learn to swim." And before Lateralus, he said, "Thank you. We will leave here inspired." Then he gave his "create something positive" speech, half of which I couldn't make out, and then he said, "Travel home safely, sit in front of a nice fire, masturbate and write poetry." Overall, Maynard seemed to be in a very good mood. The band was very tight. Their playing was excellent, and Maynard didn't seem to be having any problems with his voice. I don't know if he managed the full 25 second scream on The Grudge, but he definitely came close. The crowd was definitely pumped up. Probably because we're so starved for concerts up here. Unfortunately, we had our share of idiots throwing things on stage. One person actually hit Adam with a coat. He didn't even flinch, just kept playing, shook it off and down to the ground, then kicked it over to a roadie. All without missing a single note. He's a machine. There is a new video for Reflection. I don't know if we're the first ones to see it, but it is fairly recent. The old one looked like some sort of a film of a ruined house at the beginning. The new one starts with a phoenix flying through a sea of fire. By far the coolest video at the show, in my opinion. After a few minutes it changes into geometric patterns which play for the rest of the song. Highlights of the show were Stinkfist, H., Parabol/a, Aenema, Reflections... Well, the whole damn show was amazing. No Patient. Bummer. And at the end, after an outstanding performance of Lateralus, Maynard climbed on Danny's shoulders and they had their group hug. Absolutely awesome show, despite the shitty venue they were playing in. I just hope they don't wait another ten years to come up here.

I guess since this show only cost me $40 I cant really bitch if it is the same thing...but I'm just hoping for a Best of Tool show...not another Lateralus promotion. Needless to say, however...every second that they perform in Boise I will consider it a fucking miracle! TOOL IS MY ONLY GOD!

From: Ken McInally (kenmcinally@hotmail.com). Just saw TOOL at the Sully here in Anchorage. Setlist, I hope, I get this right. Sober, The Grudge, Stinkfist, The Patient?(not sure H?), Schism, Parabol, Parabola, Aenema, Eon Blue Apocalypse(band took a break), Dispostion, Reflection, Triad, Lateralus. First let me say that the sound in the Sully is the worst sound on the planet. This is my fourth Tool show. I saw them in 94, 96 at the Mammouth in Denver, 98 at Red Rocks in Morrison Colorado. What can I say, I am a TOOL fan. It was of course awesome. First time I saw Maynard play an instrument. Visuals were very interesting. The band is such a great team. THANK-YOU SO MUCH for coming to Alaska, the state is starving for music and thank-you thank-you for coming. As horrible as the sound is at the Sully, it won't stop me from going to see TOOL. Incredible, I wish they could have flown in on a sunny day to see just how beautiful Alaska is. Thank you again. Thank-you Toolshed.down.net for this page. Keep up the good work!

It doesn't get any better than that my friends. Just as I thought, the concert put all previous Anchorage concerts to shame, shit TOOL puts any band to shame. Between the trip- screens, lighting, projections onto the ceiling and sidewalls, and ofcourse the band, there was so much to watch. I felt myself getting teary eyed because it was all so amazing. Go see TOOL, they are guaranteed to please and are well worth any amount you pay to see them. TOOL's talent and creativity surpass any other band and to get to see them in action is just something that can't really be described with words.

I went and saw Tool July 23 in Fort Worth Texas I saw them at the Fortworth Convention Center Arena. It was the best concert I have ever been too. Well thought out . The Band Tomahawk that open for them really sucked. I went too the Inside out tour it was overwhelming. Maynard came out in a preachers suet and started yelling and saying were a bunch of sinners because earlier when I was standing out side waiting for the doors too open their was a bunch of christian people standing out side calling everyone sinners and saying if we go see Tool were going too hell it was great. Well anyway that was Maynards display out side he hired those people too stand and talk shit and give shit thats funny what money can do. But Danny Careys drumset was so bad ass Maynard played guitar fucken bad ass. What was so cool about the concert they had the flags that hung from the ceiling and each one looked like the flip cover of the Latherlus CD.. and the screen Tvs played their video even the parts they took out because they couldn't be aired. they changed the backgrouds twice. But thats about it I fixen too be sad cause Im talking about but yeah it was great BEST CONCERT. OH I lied about seeing them September 30 I just wanted too share my experience that happen July 23 but yeah Im sure the September one was good too ok Im done later

One word and only one word about this show.... Meshuggah. Tool just made dry humor (as they always do) towards the crowd. I mean when you write a song about ridding the scum of the world away and they come to your show, why not make fun of them. Well anyways, back to Meshuggah. Meshuggah, Adam Jones favorite band, blew Tool away in my opinion. Tool just OPed (over produded) the whole thing out of proportion. Meshuggah on the other hand did not. Just the NOTHING tour settup - the nothing face - was all they needed. The singer standed in the middle of the mouth and everyone else scattered around. Meshuggah gave me the intensity of existentiaism and that was the only reason I bought that goddamned tool ticket which is precisely what it was. This being my third tool show didn't give me much forward to since the other shows were more of a comedy hour than a concert (man did i laugh when i was people singing "fuck all you juckies and fuck your short memories," and smoking a joint at the same time. This one bald guy facing up at the ceiling during Parabol - like he was having sex or something - and when Parabola kicked in he opened his eyes real slowly like some religious experience or something. He wasn't even facing the same way as the stage. I was on the ground laughing, I can't take that kind of shit). Like i said, Meshuggah definitely blew Tool the fuck away this time. Comedy Einstein metal is more fun to me than alterna-comedy metal King Crimson wannabes. Man life is great when you can say something like that and be serious. Travel safely.

Like everyone else says, THANK HEAVENS tool came to alaska, I never thought it would happen. I also wish it was a nicer day because it was pouring rain. (and I was outside for about an hour in a tshirt before I got in.) Oh well. The show was unbelievable. I like moshing and all and it was easy enough to jump the fence in the pit, but I preferred to stand on a chair and just watch. The lights and the video screens along with the music are really quite an experience. (I think I also unwittingly got a contact high so maybe that's why I felt like i was being whispered to by god.) Maynard's farewell speech contained instructions to do the following- travel home safely, rent caligula, light up a nice fire, masturbate, and write poetry. It was quite inspiring. I haven't quite felt the same since.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

The show was awesome. As an Alaskan, I was embarrased by the behavior of some of those in the crowd. The yahoos who in mid-song packed the isles & chanted "Jump the fence" repeatedly like they were at some football game were nothing but obnoxious. Some of us actually came to hear the band, not play games with security... & who was the woman who just could not keep her chest under wraps??? Does she think these guys have never seen boobs before? Give me a break!! To top things off, what idiots think that throwing shoes at the band is a cool thing to do? Apparently there were several. We were damned luckythat none of the band got hit, cuz they probably would have walked out. Aside from all that BS, it was a great concert. The sound was not wonderful but OK for an old ice rink. Maynard was a bit chatty which was kind of a treat from what I hear.

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

I have to say this was a awesome experience for me. My mom is a huge Tool fan at 48 years old. So i bought her and I tickets and we went. We were up on the right hand side of the stage on the balcony and saw the entire show perfectly. I wish i knew why maynard hides towords the back of the stage. Maybe so he won't get ponged by a flying shoe (fuckheads) The vocals were really hard to hear, but the band played so damn hard it made it worth it. I happened to glance over at my mom to see her eyes welling up when they played lateralus and that right there did it for me. The entire show she was like 16 again. I coulda sworn maynard came out in a all black state troopers outfit complete with tall boots and badge.. Then he stripped down to tiny little leather shorts. He had a big black stripe down his face/skull. The crowd was energetic as hell, but i felt bad for the security who were trying to keep the kids from jumping the fence at the beginning, not to mention trying to keep the crowd surfers from busting their heads open and getting kicked and slapped for it. And what the fuck was up with the chick showing the entire arena her boobs? Who cares lady. This ain't woodstock. We've had some big bands come up here. But nobody as good as Tool.. i hope they come back again one day. Sarah

I'd just like to say that TOOL is fucking mad gay for playing the same set this tour as they did last.....TOOL has gotten so fuckin' queer w/ their Lateralus bullshit and I'm so pist I bought tix for shows that I've already seen the same shitty set for. I wish TOOL could be more hardcore and dedicated like their sets were in the Summer of 98 when TOOL acutally kicked ass and hadn't sold out yet for money w/ Lateralus and TOOL Army... Fuck you TOOL...you've gotten so radio- friendly and fucked up over the past 2 years.... -Dave Dmr976rmd@msn.com Please e-mail me if you have any comments on how I think TOOL fucking sold their souls to fucking the music biz...

All I have to say is that TOOL kicked ass in Anchorage, and was proberly by far the most exquisite show ever to be in the Sullivan Arena. Now I must say that out of all the concerts I've been to. TOOL will always be my main choice above them all. My favorite part of the concert was when he sang Stinkfist because of the way he moved. Enough of my jabber on what I think.

Tool grinds out perfect rock show in jammed Sullivan MEMORABLE: The band kicked off its fall tour in Anchorage By Matt Hopper Daily News Concert Reviewer (Published: October 2, 2002) Amid a steady torrent of rain, thousands of cars and bodies worked their way into Sullivan Arena on Monday to see Tool deliver a skull-splitting, memorable show. Excitement was at an all-time high before the performance as two giant video screens displayed a large circle of eyeballs and music began pulsing through the speaker system. Underage kids provided priceless entertainment as they struggled to jump into the floor festival area. Menacing security guards could only do so much as a lemminglike effect worked its way around the arena and kids went for broke as if they were escaping from prison. Not only was the arena floor jammed, but concertgoers were elbow to elbow right up to the rafters. Ticket-sales numbers were not available Tuesday. When the lights went out, no opening act filled the void. Instead, Tool guitarist Adam Jones and bassist Justin Chancellor slinked quietly onstage and locked in with drummer Danny Carey to begin an onslaught of noise that practically deafened the crowd within minutes. It was as clear as if I had a third eyeball that this was going to be an amazing show. Tool was kicking off its fall tour in Anchorage, and the crowd was hungry, really hungry, for its brand of intense, heavy, groove-oriented rock. Tool began with the blistering "Sober" and muscled through most of its major hits within the first six-song set. The ear-splitting guitar, chest-pounding bass and bone-crushing drumming made up the best sound I've ever heard come out of the Sullivan Arena. Maynard James Keenan, esteemed vocalist for Tool and side project A Perfect Circle, proved mysterious in a black, skintight get-up complete with a three-inch black stripe painted down his face. Absorbed in a world of vocal delivery, he lurched around like a thin Henry Rollins channeling Nosferatu on a small riser next to the drums and behind Jones. Stripping down to a black Speedo after a few songs, Keenan let his angelic voice float over the top of the musical onslaught. Mosh pits erupted all over the floor of the Sullivan, and bodies flew in all directions. Smokers lit up all kinds of tobacco and other leafy products. Video screens displayed nonstop visuals to the action bellowing about onstage. Underage kids were being tackled on the floor and thrown back into the seating area. Hands thrusted rock signs in sync with the music, and thousands of voices joined Keenan as he prayed for tidal waves to wash us all away on "Aenima." After six songs, Tool took a short break before coming back to pummel us again. A black-clad man (some sort of foot masseur for the band) set up extra drums in the middle of the stage and locked in with Carey to pound out some ferocious Sepultura-like tribal drumming while Jones provided tasty East Indian-sounding guitar licks and Keenan joined the fun on a headless guitar from his perch behind the stage. A man of few words onstage, Keenan kept things simple, introducing the band after the second song and thanking the crowd for showing up. Before the last song he spouted a short diatribe about sharing the whole experience and encouraging us to take emotions and do something positive in the upcoming months. Of course, this wasn't just a self-healing seminar. He also asked us to rent "Caligula" and masturbate when we got home. There were no encores. The band ended with a jaw-dislocating final song complete with a giant gong-smashing and a huge group hug. Band members threw drumsticks and water bottles, flashed peace signs and waved goodbye. As we walked back into the cold drizzle, there were no looks of disappointment, only the memory of a perfectly delivered rock show. Matt Hopper is a tool. Jesus fucking christ, you get paid to write that shit. I'm going to have to send a resume to the Daily News. You don't have a fucking clue and your cliche's are making my ass blow chunks. The show was good, the venue sucked big donkey dicks. The moshing was fucking gay, and maynard was just getting paid. Next time I pay $45 to see a show, the singer better get his ass up front and perform. Dance monkey boy dance. The CD is much better than the live experience. The esoteric bit is getting old. Danny is the best I have ever had the pleasure of listening too. Thank god for you.

MOST of you petty people make me sick... if you didn't get what you wanted out of the show such as hearing a particular song or a whole dream fucking set, having the perfect seat, not being near "potheads", not practically getting beat-up, not seeing your ideal opener, not being able to appreciate talented musicians despite the fact they were not playing the sound you wanted to hear instead of pouring their souls into the music THEY FELT and identified with, didn't get that special momento, didn't enjoy the sound in what ever venue they were in, etc.,etc., etc. TO FUCKING BAD!!! I have one word for your ungreatful whiny neophytic asses KARMA.
