This was this reviewer's 4th Tool show

Ok, this was worth the wait...I saw tool 2 times this year and the same ol' set...I was reluctant to attend this show, but it was my hometown, and is my favorite band... They played 3rd eye, not the intro, not the beginning...THE WHOLE FUCKING THING!! The most beautiful thing I've ever seen...Even had the tim leary intro w/his image on the monitors...Spare me the insults and clowning, when I say, this was beautiful and tear-forming...From what I think, this is the first time it has been performed in 3 years...I am, guessing, however... setlist: Cold and ugly(yay!) the grudge stinkfist H schism parabol parobola THIRD EYE(yes third eye!!) intermission aka break aka not the track on Ænima disposition reflection triad(members of meshuggah who also ruled) Lateralus

TOOL was excellent as always. Here is the set list: Cold and Ugly The Grudge Stinkfist(Extended) H. Schism Parabol Parabola THIRD EYE!!!!!!!!!! Intermission Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus The only down side was the crowd was rather mellow. Other than that, the band was in fine form and rocked the house.

Just got home from the show, and I must say that I was blown away. Some unexpected suprises mixed with old favorites hit the spot. Here's the setlist, as I remember it: -Snippet of Rush's A Passage to Bangkok (I love Rush.) -Cold and Ugly (I'm pretty sure...) -The Grudge -H. -Stinkfist (Extended) -Schism -Third Eye (Full!) -Parabol/Parabola -Disposition/Reflection -Triad (Jam version) -Lateralus (Don't quote me on the order) I think that's about right... All I can say is that Third Eye total blew me away! The Timothy Leary "Think for yourself" sample kicked in, and I thought maybe it was a teaser, but when the "drugs and music" sample came on, it kicked into overdrive. The boys sounded fantastic tonight; I only caught a couple mistakes that were hardly noticeable. Maybe I'm just a picky guitarist. The jam on Triad was very good; personally I can't stand Meshuggah, but the guest percussionist and keyboardist really took the jam to another level. Fantastic. H. was a nice suprise; the mellow midsection was a great calmer. All in all, freakin' awesome show! Hope they'll be back. Gabe

Looks like my first post didn't show up, so I'll try again... A Passage to Bangkok (snippet - great Rush tribute!) Cold and Ugly The Grudge H. Stinkfist (Extended) Third Eye Parabol/Parabola Disposition/Reflection Triad Lateralus I think that's it... Don't quote me on the order. First, I think H. was a great song to put in there - the mellow midsection was great to chill to after getting worked up for the first few songs. I almost wet my pants when the opening Third Eye samples came on! They nailed that song with such precision I couldn't believe it. The extended Stinkfist was great as always, and the Meshuggah guests on the Triad jam actually added quite a bit. That song was a rush! Maynard started off in a black bodysuit of some type with boots, then later stripped down to what looked like black hot pants? What else did you expect? All in all, the boys played a killer show with very few noticeable mistakes. Nice mix of old and new. Come back soon, Tool! Gabe

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Night started off with Meshuggah, I arrived about 30 minutes late and only saw the last song or 2 from them. Decent from what I witnessed.. Then... I was blessed... Set List: Cold & Ugly (-) Ions Stinkfist The Grudge H. Schism Parabol Parabola THIRD EYE ----intermission---- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus I believe it was Cold & Ugly, Since i've only heard that song but maybe once, I'm not too sure.. (-)Ions was up next, I was sort of.. ehh, but it sounded so cool inside the Fieldhouse. the zzzZZZZ (click) of ions led directly into Stinkfist (zzzzzzZZZ (BONG)) :P Stinkfist was simply incredible.. the extended version made me sit in astonishment, and out of nowhere maynard decides to scream "I'LL.. KEEP...DIGGING".. One of my favorites for the night The Grudge was incredible as well.. Maynard hit the longass scream perfectly. The visuals for this song inparticular were inspiring H. was the second biggest surprise of the night for me. I thought for sure we would get 4 Degrees or 46 & 2.. So when I heard the start of H. , I couldn't do anything else but cheer and clap my hands. Maynard letting the whole crowd do the 'I don't mind' part was awesome to say the least. For Schism, there was probably a 4 minute intro that not a whole lot had a clue to what it was, but then Schism started out of it and the place erupted. Flawless.. Parabol/a was delayed a bit. The drum part at the very beginning would hit, then 15 seconds later it would do it again. This went on for quite a while until it morphed into the Parabol we all know and love.. Parabola was executed perfectly, as usual. The Parabol/a video was playing as the boys were doing their thing. The surprise of the night. Third Eye. I was hoping for AENema or the least, Opiate.. I didn't expect Third Eye at all. When maynard started the 'Question Authority' speech, i knew it was coming.. Then the classic 'Drugs have done some good things for us' came out over the speakers, and the entire place went ape shit fucking crazy. Maynard hit the hellscreaming 'Pry Ing Op En My Third Eye' Perfectly.. of course.. Intermission was a bit long.. It sounded like they were leading into jimmy, but alas, they didn't.. Disposition/Reflection/Triad.. Incredible. seemed like it lasted forever and I enjoyed every minute of it.. felt like 30+ minutes. Incredible work with the drummer of Meshuggah. I just closed my eyes and listened to that entire set of 3. Simply enlightening. Then Lateralus. Maynard told us to all go home and masturbate until we passed out, and he would see us on the other side..appropriate red and yellow lights at the right times, and spirals all over the people on the floor. The end- visual spirals were very nice. Just sped up and changed direction and just.. wow.. I found it pretty spiffy that when they shined the lights on the people on the floor, they refused to shine it on the idiots moshing to Disposition. Disrespectful imo.. Great Tool show. Certainly not my last.. Spiral out buddehs

The show was everything you expect from tool. We got a third eye. Also an opener from opiate. The visuals were stunning and the jung message is one i never grow tired of hearing, question authority and think for yourself. Well I just got back from the show so I am going to follow some of maynards advice and try to write a little.

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Wow! I can't imagine every going to any show greater than the one I just saw (unless I go to another Tool show). I'd been dying to see them for a long time, but something always got in the way. Well it was worth the wait and the price. Didn't get onto the floor like I have at past concerts, but instead got to sit in the nice comfortable chairs at Conseco Fieldhouse. I enjoyed the opening act Meshuggah, they are at least an interesting act to watch. It took them a couple of songs to get in a groove, but after that it was most enjoyable. I think it was a little heavy for a lot of the crowd there as they were not too into them and more than once the lead singer had to beg the crowd to get excited. Tool on the other hand had the crowd excited from the moment they came on stage. Here's the setlist: Intro Cold and Ugly The Grudge (-) Ions (Short Version) Stinkfist (Extended) H. Jam Schism Jam Parabol Parabola Maynard Speech on Free Thinking Tim Leary Intro Third Eye Disposition Reflection Triad (w/ Two guys from Meshuggah, one on drums and another playing something else maybe a synthesizer of some sort) Lateralus The crowd was mostly into the more radio songs from Lateralus (Schism, Parabola, Lateralus) while I was thoroughly riveted/into every song they played. While the band was difficult to see (I would assume this is intentional) it was obvious that Maynard was in "Face away from crowd" mode, but I don't think that detracted much. It's more about the music than the band anyway with the screens and other fixtures there to give you something to look at (or "trip" off of if that's your thing). Anyway the show was awesome, I'll definitely go to another one someday even if the prices do go up because there's no other show like it (musically or visually).

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Holy shit... This was my first tool concert but my god it was incredible. The opening act Meshugga sucked royal asshole. Tool opened up with Cold and Ugly. It was fair, he carried a nice into scream for quite a few secconds. Ions was alright... but the show didnt really get "god like" until about stinkfist. The grudge was fair, slight sound problems with maynards effects processor during the heavy screaming. They played H and 3rd eye which was such a fucking treat in and of itself. I was so zoned in duing the intermission, that I lost track of about 5 minutes of time. The trinity D.R.T kicked mayjor ass. Triad was by far the coolest experiance I have ever had. Danny just went apeshit, and Meshugga did their ONLY worthwhile shit all night while using a synth and playing bongos. Lateralus topped it all of with a PERFECT performance. The group threw about 12 bottles of water, 2 drum sticks, some guitar picks, and a drum head. Maynard jumped on Adams back as they did a group hug, and proceeded to leave. The night was great. Anyone who didnt go, you missed on hell of a show. And to anyone who will post about how tool has sold out, and how you think that they dont change the set list... Ask yourself why you paid the money to see them, then go home and fuck yourself. ~Vertigo Erased, over, and out.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

I don't know if words can describe, but I'll do the best that I can. It was a great night, a great show, and a great experience I'll remember forever. The four men of Tool were on it tonight. Meshuggah was ok, the black/speed/death metal thing is great for those who enjoy it, but I'm not one of those people. Maynard was on his stage in back, wearing a black shirt, black pants, and combat boots with a thick black stripe painted on his face. Danny was to Maynard's right, wearing a purple and gold basketball jersey and shorts. Justin was below Danny, in all black, and Adam was to Justin's left, wearing back as well. Cold and Ugly -- audience goes apeshit. I go apeshit. I was expecting Sober, but this was great.Maynard was a bit muddled during the beginning of the song, but the mix got cleared up quick. The Grudge -- This song was a great opener on the last fall's tour, and it was just as solid tonight. Maynard nailed the scream. (-) Ions was played in between this song and the next. Stinkfist -- Hearing this song live made me want to cry. I love the extended live mix of this song. The band jammed for 3-4 minutes during the middle of this song. H. -- First time hearing this live, and it's an extremely powerful song. This song had some of the best visuals of the night, the snake eating itself. Schism -- Maynard straps on his headless guitar. This song is not one of my favorites, but it is better heard live. Great version with a jam in the middle. Adam played Eon Blue Apocalypse between this song and the next. Parabol/Parabola -- Maynard is now down to just his boxers. Vocals sounded great on Parabol. Segue from Parabol to Parabola is flawless. Another powerful song. Third Eye -- Wow. I thought that the roof was going to blow off the fieldhouse. God, this song was great. I had heard that they had played it earlier in the tour, but I was honesty expecting Aenema or Opiate, but I was pleasantly surprised. Intermission -- lots of bass thumping and feedback Disposition -- Maynard on guitar again. Great live. Reflection -- One of my fave songs from Lateralus. Vocals were a little muddy at first, but the mix got cleaned up later in the song. Triad -- The CD recording of this song doesn't do it justice. Although the version on CD is what it is "supposed" to sound like, the only way to hear this song is to hear it live. Danny beat the hell out of his kit, and Meshuggah's drummer beat the hell of of the rototoms. That's about all you can say. Maynard didn't really say much to us tonight, and kept his back turned for most of the show. We did get "Good Evening" after The Grudge, and he introed Third Eye by saying something along the lines of "We know you've probably heard this before, but now you need to hear it in a different light, especially in there trying, political, social global times.", and that led into the Timothy Leary sample that opened Third Eye. Before Lateralus, we got the do something positive speech. "We hope that you feel inspired. We suggest that you go home, grab a copy of Caligula?, curl up by the fire, write some poetry, and masturbate until you pass out. Have fun masturbating, and we'll see you on the other side." Lateralus -- The perfect show closer. The lighting (black and white, red and yellow) was awesome. This song brought the whole evening full circle. The stage setup was awesome, the Alex Grey backdrops were cool as hell. Hopefully I'll get to see this amazing band again in the future. The Indy fans were great, and even the Conseco security was pretty cool. All in all, it was a great night, because it wasn't just a concert to be heard, or a show to be witnessed, it was an experience to be felt. Kyle

wow! i was on the floor and up front for the first 3 songs. we decided to back up a bit because of all the stupid fucks that wanted to mosh. my friend had a peircing ripped out :( and it was getting harder and harder to see maynard. when we backed up we had ample space and could see perfect :) maynard was dressed as a police officer (uummm very sexy) he stood away from the crowd most of the night, but did so himself a bit of the time......and undressed. i was hoping for a G String.......damn it! but atleast it was tight boxers...lol sorry boys......and i grossing you out?? haha okay the setlist is not something i do well.......uumm opened with ..... cold & ugly the grudge ended with........ lateralus sorry that i don't know more....... i'm one of those people that puts it in my player and i know the songs, but by number, not TITLE well i thought it was a GREAT SHOW! and maynards whole bit about "i hope we inspired you......and made you horny.....i hope you go home and sit by a fire place and write some poetry and then masterbate untill you pass out" or something along those lines. oh........the drum solo was VERY kewl but a bit long for me.

The show was quite amazing. I was especially impressed by the graphics, how they moved with the music was impressive. I went in expecting something quite different but I left amazed. I was expecting harder, heavier music what I got was still heavy and dark but it wasn't so hard. Even though the show went against my expectations, I left satisfied. Tool definately has their shit together! My favorite parts of the show were the Grudge - freekin' awesome song! and the little dueling banjos thing they did before Schism was great as well... One quote I took from the show went something like this "I hope that you guys are horny as hell and I have a little suggestion (here I was hoping to hear AEnima)... I want you to go home thown in Caligula, sit by the fireplace and recite poetry, then masturbate until you pass out." hilarious!

Better than 8/8/02 in Huntington, WV. Yes my friends, this was fucking incredible! If you have any slight chance of being able to go see Tool this tour, DO IT! Wow what a night. Got to Conseco Fieldhouse way early, so I could look around at all the cool stuff, if was my first time there since it's construction a few years ago. No, wasn't looking at Tool stuff, looking at all the basketball memorabilia and memories which decorate this awesome building. For a Hoosier, it is awe inspiring to say the least. This is not going to be a typical review, because I just don't know the Tool songs that well yet. This was the first time I've seen Tool since their first tour in 1993. A guy from St. Louis sat beside me, that had driven in for the show, and he was definitely a Tool fanatic. We had a great discussion before the concert started, especially when I started telling him about my life of concerts, especially Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. He had never meant anybody that had seen either one live. I've seen both multiple times each, so he was quite impressed. The opening act, pretty much was a very loud bore imo, a Swedish thrash metal group called "Meshugah". (is thrash metal still in?) Anyway, they weren't that well received, and they were kind of a Slayer wannabe. But when Tool took the stage, it was a different story, and you could tell this was definitely a serious Tool crowd (about 7,000). I will have to say, this was one of the most visually stunning experiences I have ever had, at any previous concert, all state of the art video and stage lighting effects. All of the digital videos, which accompanied each song were just absolutely amazing. Most pretty damn creepy, but I like that kind of stuff. During one song "H", there was this demon snake like thing that kept swallowing itself in brilliant colors that was just mind boggling. In fact, every video for every song was genius level material imo. The audio was superb, especially in an arena venue. Although I didn't get to hear "Sober" (opener was "Cold and Ugly"), which was no big deal, they did play a very rare concert song for them "My Third Eye", which was definitely one of the highlights among many. An extremely powerful song, which just drove the crowd into a frenzy. You could see jaws dropping at a pretty constant rate as that one performance completed. My favorite song, is also my favorite track on "Lateralus". It's the final song of the trilogy, "Reflection" "Disposition", and the hit of the night for me "Triad". The concert ended with an excellent "Lateralus", and then they embraced on the stage with a long standing ovation from totally blown away Tool fans, and also this Crimhead (King Crimson). No encore, no need for an encore, everything had been done to perfection and precision that had this crowd only displaying its admiration for a memorable night of awe inspiring performances. This was not a concert, as concerts go, this was definitely a 2:15 hour Experience that you lived and breathed, and everything just flowed like it was logically programmed. Just a great night, no complaints at all, super crowd, dedicated fans, and this ole dude came away a ToolHead now.

Visuals were excellent!! Musically the band was better than ever. The PA sound was very poor. Maynard was sometimes not audible through the first 4 songs, as was Adam. The mix was bad!! Too much bass, drums fine, though. After the fourth tune, the mix improved (PA gear issues? HUman error?), though whenever effects were used on Maynard's voice the level was unpredictable. Either overpowering or unaudible. I love seeing the band perform. So many questions... I don't believe the crowd got the "intermission". The band took a break, but kept canned music & videos playing, light show continued. Many people left. The crowd didn't know if they should stay or go. Lots of people in the ailses. Over all a good show. Personally I prefer more music. less "performance art".

This was this reviewer's 5th Tool show

Hello everybody. This was my 5th tool show and i'd say it was the best. Virtually because two songs they snuck in the setlist. I'll get to that in a second, the show was amazing of course, a couple different graphics on the screen than when i saw them in cincy two months back. Maynard stripped to his speedos which tells me he was feeling the energy from the crowd. danny was nuts as usual, i was off to the right and looked right down on him, it was great. adam and just were calm and hypnotizing as usual. the setlist went: Cold and Ugly The Grudge Stinkfist H. Schism Parabol Parabola Third eye Intermission Dispostion Reflections Triad Lateralus I'm quite sure that was the setlist. and it was great i went nuts when maynard said "i know you all have heard these words before but we hope you'll heed them in a different way somehow, think for yourself, question authority.." then the timothy leary verse came on, then bill hicks! i lost it r.i.p bill. anyways great show you all enjoy yours as it may be the last for a few years. it's almost time for a perfect circle.

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

October 21, 2002 - Indianapolis, IN - Conseco Field House Setlist: Cold and Ugly The Grudge (-) ions Stinkfist H. Schism Parabol / Parabola THIRD EYE --Intermission-- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus Quite simply, the most amazing TOOL performance I have witnessed. And for one very simple and incredibly true reason-TOOL played, in place of Aenema or Opiate, just before intermission, THIRD EYE. As it started Maynard told the audience that this is something they (the audience) need to hear in these very political of times, "Think for yourself, question authority." - Timothy Leary. They then proceeded to play the entire Timothy Leary speech as heard on Salival just before Third Eye, with an amazing trippy visual of Timothy on the screens. All the while, I was hearing Danny play a very familiar drum roll off, thinking this cannot be true, then, as the song starts on Aenima, there is the sound of a heart beating followed by the comedy of the late, Bill Hicks, then TOOL show Indianapolis, IN just how truly breathtaking and amazing they are. The entire concert was absolutely amazing, TOOL always give it their all and have never, ever dissapointed me. Each of the three times I have seen them they have managed to play something different. In Chicago on this tour they played Sober, H., and Opiate, all of which I did not see in Indianapolis in 2001. Then last night, I watched TOOL blow my mind by opening up with Cold and Ugly and then closing the first half of the concert with Third Eye. Most certainly blowing the minds of myself and, I am sure, every other true TOOL fan on hand. Thank you Maynard, Danny, Justin, and Adam, this as well as the other two shows I have been to have been the most unforgetable and amazing shows of talent and love for music and the fans I have ever witnessed. -Jeremy

Leary at beginning, then Bill Hicks) 10.Intermission 11.Disposition 12.Reflection 13.Triad (w/ Mesuggah drummer) 14.Lateralis

The setlist for the Indianapolis went as follows, and I may not be exactly right on order. Cold and Ugly -Ions The Grudge Stinkfist (New Bridge) H Schism Parabol/Parabola Third Eye (Full Song) Intermission Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus It was my first Tool show and it was amazing, I was really glad that people weren't moshing and crap, cuz that's just not the type of thing you should do at a Tool Concert. Thats made for bands like Korn. Anyways I almost exploded with Joy during the new version of Stinkfist, b/c it is my favorite song of all time and it is a masterpeice. Would of been really nice to hear some more songs from Undertow like Intolerance and 4 degress maybe instead of Disposition/Reflection, but oh well. No complaints really...best concert I've ever been too period. And third eye was also amazing.

The visuals were top-notch. They keep getting better with every show. They did not disappoint. Danny was as great as ever. I especially loved Triad, where Meshuggah came out and played with them. Awsome. Meshuggah is still not my stiyle, and I didnt' care for them this time either. Great set list (that I'm sure will be posted elsewhere). Definately different than the last two shows. They seem to change it up except for the D/R/Triad into Lateralus ending. "Aw, but they didn't play XXXXX" Personally, I'd want them to play every song they have. There's always going to be one song that I wanted to hear, but didn't, so any bitching about a particular song seems silly to me. Maybe they'll play it next time. The acoustics were pretty good from my seat. The fieldhouse was a different setting that, in my opinion, was WAY better than the sucky ass deer creek stage. Excellent show. Worth the price. Completely unique, and I can't wait to see them the next time they come through.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

My memory is kinda hazy but I've done my best to recall the set list: Cold & Ugly The Grudge Stinkfist H. Schism Parabol Parabola Third Eye Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus I'm pretty sure that's the right order but I know those are the songs they played. I went to see Tool last year on Sept. 8 at Verizon Wireless Music Center (aka Deer Creek) with Meshuggah so I knew this time to miss out on as much of Meshuggah as possible. Luckily for me and my friend we located our seats just as the lights went out and Tool took the stage. Words can barely describe the experience; it was so awesomely unbelievable. The opening song totally took me by surprise. I still can't believe they actually played some shit off of Opiate. The artwork was absolutely amazing. The Alex Grey backdrops were beautiful, Interbeing and The Sacred Mirrors. Maynard didn't say as many insightful things to the crowd like he did at last year's show. After the first song he said "Good Evening.... Thanks for your support." Then right before Third Eye he said something along the lines of "I know you've heard these words before but I want you to try to hear them with a different set of ears, to hear them in a new light, especially in these political, social, and global times... Think for yourself." Then the video screens played the Tim Leary excerpt. Before Lateralus Maynard once again thanked everyone for their show of support. He proceeded to suggest that we go home, burn/get a copy of something (I couldn't make out what he said and no one around me did either), sit in front of a fireplace and masturbate to poetry until we pass out. "Have a nice masturbate." What the fuck? Typical of Maynard to say something so off-key. They went into Lateralus after that which featured a rotating platform that Maynard stood on. Though indirectly, this was the first time that Maynard faced the crowd. For the first half of the show he was dressed in what seemed to be a full body work suit. Then he came out in black speedo/boxers with half his face painted black. All the band members were equally amazing, especially Danny Carey. Unlike last year, Carey had the spotlight on him most of the time so I could see most of what he was doing, which was a major plus. At the very end of the night, they all gathered for a group hug at center stage. Maynard threw up a big peace sign. Danny threw some sticks and discs to the crowd. Maynard launched about ten water bottles. He initially threw three, then hunched over as if to be exhausted but the crowd screamed for more. He searched for anything, stepped down, then returned with his arms full of water bottles. He'd tease Danny as well as the crowd to act like he was going to beam it at one particular person. The show was simply awesome with me being awestruck most of the time and I still am. Like I said, I'm not sure if I remember everything correctly but I'm sure somone else will know. Thanks to Tool for one of the most memorable nights of my life. Thank you.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

I have seen Tool twice now, and both shows were excellent, but quite different. Meshuggah opened for them, and they were awful. I was going to buy one of their albums because I had heard that they were good, but they really weren't. It seemed to basically just be death metal with complex meters and what not. Their set was mercifully short. Anyway, Tool played and excellent show. Personally, I prefer The Grudge as an opener, but Cold and Ugly was alright. They only played Parabola in Louisville, and it was good to hear it with Parabol as well. Third Eye was good to hear, because they didn't play it last time I saw them, but loking back on it I prefer Pushit. After the intermission, they played the Triad Suite, which was good. After Reflection, while Adam was playing his little pattern over and over, someone came up and set up four of what loked like Roto- Toms from where I was. Danny started to play the pulsing beat from Triad, and then both Danny and the Meshuggah drummer man started an incredible drum duo thing that topped the one during "Dance On a Volcano" on Seconds Out. I wasn't sure if they could actually top the energy level going on there, but they did during Lateralus. The band huddled around the drumset during the drone at the beginning, and then went off into the actual song with full force. The mixing center in the middle of the floor had four huge spotlights that were, as far as I know, only used on Lateralus and they shone on to a mirrorball that hung from the ceiling above the mixing place. In the end, the only complaints that I have are the volume and the crowd. While Tool was mixed quite well, it was far too loud. I know that this is standard at rock concerts, but it is impossible to really hear anything if everything is being screamed at you. The volume made distinguishing particular notes quite difficult, and anything played on the drums came out as a dull, loud thud. The crowd was made up of fools, but I suppose that is to be expected. They took forever to realize the song, they made noise every time a quiet part in a song came up, and were generally obnoxious. There was a girl behind me that had an incredibly piercing scream, and about a third of the way through the show I had to just tell her to be quiet and listen to the music. At least they didn't serve alchohol.

They stayed open and on the good side (lateralus).....they stayed in good humor and only playing one pestimistic song (stinkfist).....maynard was in rarest of forms....smiling quite often....i am changed

Setlist has been posted already, so I won't bother with it. Great concert, started out a bit mechanical, but they really got into it during Stinkfist, and shined in H. Everything after that was awesome. I think maybe because it's my first concert in a venue like this, but it seems like the speaker system sucked.. It was hard to clearly make out all the intruments at times, and occasionally Maynard's vocals sounded high pitches (mostly earlier in the show)... Made me want to go home and put on Lateralus, but of course, I left the CD in my dorm which is 6 hours away. If only I had a fireplace, then I could do what Maynard suggested -- curl up in front of it, write some poetry, and then masterbate until I pass out. Oh well. Great concert. Nice venue -- hope to see Radiohead or Nails next, can't wait for that either (though Tool was the first band I wanted to see live).

Just a word to other TooL concert goers leave your cell phones at home. I got to the gate and they made me turn around and bring it back to my car so I missed like the first 2 songs of Meshuggah, other then that the concert rocked. Wow i think everyone has basicly covered the set list and everything but i would just like to put in my 2 cents on the show.... The show started out with a band...thought it slowly rose to a crecendo of stinkfist which kicked so much ass... That was really great...wasn't expecting the whole thing but it was the extended version. Unfortunatly during this song i got my camera confiscated by security...bastards. Schism was even better live this time then last year.,..they really rocked out and the crowd was really feeling it. Parabol/a brought the crowd down a bit and gave all of us at the front of the pit a chance to breath alittle before we went roaring into third eye. I had been told by a friend there was a chance of getting to see hear them do this amazing song. and i wasn't disapointed. I cant say enough about this song. After the intermission we were greated with Disposition/Reflection which went into triad...featuring 2 members of meshuggah jamming out with tool One of 4 drums and the other on a sampler/keyboard type machine (not sure what it was couldn't get a good look) Maynard also rocked out on what apeared to be a steinberger bass. Adam used a cd that someone threw at him to generate all sorts of nasty/beutiful noise on his guitar before throwing it back into the crowd all scratched up. Finaly we they closed out with Lateralus which...wow...thats really all i can say is wow...i was still singing to myself today the line "spiral out..."... maynard's platform started to rotate as he sang and it was amazing...the lighting for the whole second half was absolutely amazing with the lightning effects...spiraling lights...flashing colored lights...confeti...the videos were awsome from what i could see but it was hard to see them from right up front. The banners they rolled out were also very very cool... The whole show was yet another amazing experience. Cant wait for another chance to see them live.

This is my 3rd show with this current setup and I am really lovin it. The crowd was well behaved unlike the moline Ill show i saw were everyone was acting like animals. I'm sorry but you Moline people need to get with the rest of the world because todays tool fan is an intelligent listener and does not want to get all fucked up and mosh and spit and freakout. We just want to enjoy the music, get it. The Cincy show and the Indy show had great fans but the Moline fans are stuck in the year 1995. The other thing I noticed about the fans at the Cincy and Indy shows was that there was not as many people trying to dress up and look all cool in their leather and their peirsings everywere. Most people looked like they were just hangin out at home. This is what i hope to see more of in the future at tool shows. People not trying to be all cool and just behaving themselves so we can all have a great time. I mean if you are a hot chick go ahead and dress up a little to give us old guys alittle eye candy between songs but if your not a hot chick no one gives a crap what you look like so stop it you homos. The show was great even if maynards voice is giving out a little but thats OK because I could barely stand the time let alone play music and sing for that long every day. I am one of those who says stop complaining about what they play because we are lucky to see this type of band at all with all the creed linkin park crap thats out there now making big money on tour. Let them play what they want to play and just be happy your listening in person. If you want to here a certain song bring a walk man and play it in your ear during disposition. Ok repeat after me people>> I WILL ENJOY LISTENING TO THE MUSIC WHILE ACTING LIKE AN ADULT AND WILL STOP TRYING TO LOOK COOL UNLESS I HAPPEN TO BE A HOT CHICK THEN I WILL TRY TO DRESS HOT TO PROVIDE US OLD DUDES WITH EYECANDY. thank you..

Tool is by far my favorite band. Seeing the band in concert was completely enthralling. The show was great, the sets were great, and the band played, of course, great. I believe the setlist went: Cold and Ugly, The Grudge, Ions (-), Stinkfist, H., Schism, Parabol, Parabola, Third Eye, BRIEF INTERMISSION, Disposition, Reflection, Triad (with Meshuggah's drummer), and finally Lateralus. In my opinion, the most incredible song played was Third Eye, it was amazing live, there was so much energy in it. I cannot really describe the entire concert and its brilliance, you must experience it for yourself. Thank You Tool is the greatest band to walk the earth. Free Yourself From Yourself.

For common courtesy i will write, DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO A SHOW ON THIS TOUR, I WILL GIVE EVERYTHING AWAY AND RUIN IT FOR YOU. Sorry I don't remember the setlist, except for that it ended with "987" (don't even know the name of it, I've heard it called this though (tool devotees will hate me by now)). But I am going to give an unbiased, honest review. I saw them last Sept. when they came here, I thought it was fucking incredible. This time, in comparison to last time, the show was good, but something just didn't click like it did before. I liked the screen behind Maynard with his sillohette (sp??) last time which wasnt' the case this time. I definately liked the Osseus Labyrinths last time that they didn't have this time. What they did have this time was more print screens. A large light screen of the anatomic skull, beautiful art, was the main backdrop for most of the show. Towards the end, that fell away displaying a print screen of an eye made of eyes. Also beautiful. Also at that time 4 smaller print screens unrolled with anatomic figures like in the cd sleave for Laturalus. Throughout the show there were the two video screens like last year, with the video synced to the music all the way through the set. I think what didn't do it for me this time is the lack of 'reality' that accompanied the show last year. The living Osseus', Maynard's shadow robotically moving to the music, the vibes were just incredible at that show. Plus, I have to agree with the local paper reviews when they said "Keenan...proved to be the least impressive Tool in the box." He was agitated at something. It began to show towards the end of the show. You can just tell, he was irritated at the monitor engineer once and seemed to do the same to Justin after that. Maybe it's just me but it seems like their 4 on/1 off schedule for the last few months might be getting to them. NOW let me explain the negativity. I spent a lot of time on the negatives but that's only because I have high expectations for THE BIGGEST artistic music tour on the road right now. And you can't argue that. They spent time creating this art show so you don't have to spend as much time wondering what Adam's going to wear tonight or what Danny has done to his hair, like any other show kids go to. Thumbs up to Tool, amazing musicians, amazing minds. Let me know if I went too far, I'd love to hear it.

Schism Parabol Parabola Third Eye Intermission (Cool Video) Disposition Reflection Triad Killer Jam w/Meshuggah Lateralus There is no doubt that the show has improved since last fall. I saw them twice last year and thought that it couldn't get any better. If you have a chance to see this show do not miss it. The videos and effects are different from last fall. We all know that this is the greatest band around but they are also the greatest Musicians around today. On Triad the guys from Tool are met by Meshuggah's Drummer and Bassist and all the guys jam out for like 15 min. At the end of Triad i was lucky enough to catch Meshuggah's drum stick. so all in all it was an extremly overwhelming night. The best show I've ever been to. Everything was just flat out incredible. I was on the floor, right in the center. It was just an unbelievable, positive experience. Maynard seemed to be in a better mood than last time. The unexpected blurb about going home, writing poetry and then masturbating until you pass out was easily the funniest moment of the night. I was glad to hear Cold & Ugly as the opener considering last time they didn't play anything from Opiate, but if I'm not mistaken, this time they didn't play anything from Undertow. Oh well, I was still thrilled to hear H. and Third Eye live for the first time. The only way the show could've been better for me is if they played every song in their collection.

Anoother amazing show by the boys of Tool. My hats off to them they played one hell of a show. TO anyone who says Tool has sold out or is in it for the money, then just go listen to your Limp Bizkit CD's and shut the f**k up. If you happen to catch them on this tour you will se that they have put a lot of time and money into their video screens and lighting and backdrops. All that stuff is not cheap and they don't have to do it so appreciate it. Ok now that I got that off my chest onto the show. Here is the setlist I am not sure if it is in the right order or not Cold & Ugly the Grudge Stinkfist(extended) H. schism(with new intro) parabol/a third eye(salival and album intro's) intermission diposition reflection triad(w drummer from meshugah) lateralus and I know they play (-)ions and eon blue in there The show was great triad, third eye, and lateralus were the higlights for me. Cold & ugly was nice to hear but I wish they had played it later in the set when they were more warmed up. Triad is an amazing song and the drumming last night was out of this world. Third eye was great to finally hear live and a real treat. Lateralus has got to be one of the best songs to close a concert with and Mon. night was not different. I like the little jam/intro to schism. All in all a good show. Maynard was not too talkative, said good evening three songs in, gave the "think for youself, question authority speech" before third eye and before lateralus thanked the crowd and told us to read some poetry and masturbate till we passed out. He also moved alot on his little riser which was nice to see.The only complaint is that they didn't play anything from Undertow. Really wouldn't have cared which song just would have been nice to hear one of them. Oh well maybe next time. If anyone taped the show last night or anyothers on this tour I would be very interested in obtaining a copy. Thanks to Tool for playing Indiana and hope to see you guys again real soon. Adam, Danny, Justin, and Maynard thank you for an amazing night of beautiful music.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

Originally posted on www.tjandjent.com... Preface I saw TOOL/Meshuggah last night, Oct 21st, at the Conseco Field House at Indy. I hate Indianapolis enough already. So, I figure this place better wow me. I am a big fan of both bands; but you might see that I have a certain angst for 90% of all the other TOOL fans in existance. This would also be my second opportunity to see Mesh open up for TOOL. To give you a quick preface of last night's show... I was unimpressed and disappointed. Don't get me wrong; there was some cool parts of the night. It's just that the good parts seemed to be shadowed by the crap... This needs to be told from begining to end. Therefore you'll have a better understanding of how I felt that entire night. I got there with two of my buddy's from Chicago. So we drive down there crammed in my truck for about 2 hours. I've never been to this venue before but was not impressed with it after being there only 10 min. The only thing I can compare it to was a smaller United Center. Here's where things started to plummet. We were standing down in the pit and everyone else was sitting down. I figured one person sat down and then the typical TOOL fans played follow the leader (heh, jk). Then some security dude comes over to us and asks us to sit down on the floor. I could tell he was uncomfortable treating adults like children but that's how he gets paid. So we sit down and wait a good while. I was middle of the pit probably about 15, 20 feet from the stage during both performances... Meshuggah's Set First off, they had no backdrop... at all. They've always had something that's said, "Meshuggah," on it. So, 5 bucks says alot of people attending didn't know the name of the opening band. Pretty weak, but I don't know who's fault that was. Mesh comes out and plays the average set. They did play these new songs: Nebulous, Rational Gaze (fuck yeah they pulled it off!) and Closed Eye Visuals (they played the whole song, my hat's off to em). The older stuff consisted of Sane (opener), Sickening, Soul Burn, NMCChrist, and FBMachine. This was my 5th time seeing Mesh. As always, they rocked balls. But for the fifth time seeing them nothing was too different. Just you're usual rocking and CP headbangin'. I didn't like how Fred did his solo's; and that includes the newer solo's. He was hitting flat notes way to much and it was sorta half assed. I'd try and yell out to him to get him in a more rocking mood, but that didn't seem to help. And you guessed it, stupid fucking TOOL fans just sitting there staring at the band like they're a rack of yard tools at Sears. Although some of them sorta cleared out of my way as I started headbanging and doing air guitar. People did applaud and shit after the songs and raised up some satan \m/ \m/, but other than that crowd response was zero. There were a few Mesh fans there. Although it was the least amount out of all the venues I've seen them play at. So, now we come to the first really cool part of the night. Their last song they played was FBM. When Jens announced it. I yelled, "You're all gonna fucking die now!!!!!" And started running through people to get as close to the stage as possible. More people started moshing and it felt like a good symbiotic concert between the band and audience finally. I got pretty close up to the stage until I was shoulder to shoulder with bodies and couldn't mosh anymore. I was still able to keep headbanging even though sometimes I bashed my head into someone elses, heh. But I'd get a pat on the back to know that no one got badly hurt. That was the end of Meshuggah's set. *funny side note* During FBM some guy (maybe late teens or early twenties) got his poor little leg injured and wanted to start some shit with one of the guys next to me. If you're next to a moshing group of guys and you get injured accidentally- it was accidental i was standin' right there- then don't act like some kinda hard ass. Just get outta there before you get your other fucking leg broken. So, a few moshers obviously took the side of the non-injured mosher and Captain Hardass wandered off. Then I saw him after Mesh's set talking shit about those guys to his friend. He said something like, "Man those fuckers were pushin' around and hit my leg. I can't even stand on it. (and he was standing btw) I'm going back up there when TOOl comes on. But you gotta watch me cause if I fall I'm not getting back up. And you'll have to carry me outta there." Now is it just me or is this guy a FUCKING DUMBASS!! Stay outta the pit you fucking injured retard!! (sigh) where was I in this review rant, oh yes. I call this section... Time To Wait Forever! TOOL didn't come on for what seemed like an eternity. I swear to fucking sweet Moses Christ that we stood there for about 40 + min before the band came out. Then the lights dimmed and the two side screens showed the ring of multicolored eyes while they played some annoying ass CP organ garbage. I can appreciate a good organ piece, but not when its some monkey just hitting anything ranging from flat notes to piercing high notes with no rhythm or structure at all. After about 15 min of that shit TOOl comes out and FINALLY fucking plays.... TOOl's set, part 1 I've been hearing that they've been playing different/weird versions or remixes of songs. Dan also told me that they played A Perfect Circle's Judith. So, I was in anticipation to say the least. The backdrop is huge. It had a large face with a face on each cheek. Then on the right and left border were two large fetus/baby looking things; backs against the canvas edge and facing toward the large tri-head in the middle. Throughout the show they had different colors shining on it- ooo, aah. Maynard seemed to be wearing a brownish Police uniform. I thought that was pretty funny. And an interesting thing about Maynard; he never faces the crowd. He always looks toward the backdrop or Danny, the drummer. (shrugs) Hey I'm hear for the music; if he's plays the best facing away from us so be it. They start with Cold and Ugly. All the while having some of the same footage spliced with a few new visuals on the side screens. (trying to remember) Uh, they played The Grudge, Schism, Stinkfist, H (with a few added riffs, not quite a remix), Prison Sex, and Third Eye (I might be forgetting some but seriously, that's about it). Then came ANOTHER... FUCKING... WAITING PERIOD! Time To Wait Some More When I first saw TOOL/Meshuggah in Chicago together. I had to sit through this intermission like thing. But Adam Jones stayed out there and kept playing this riff over and over; it was repeatitive but at least someone was making some type of effort. Now, this time around. We get to see the little 3d ring like objects from the very begining of the Parabol video. Just staying in one spot rotating around and around. Now the entire band has left the stage and we are left to wait with no entertainment other then the screen. The soundtrack to this annoyance was low level feedback humming and skipping. The best way to explain it is if you puckered your lips out and went *pppplplplllppppp* This went on for about 15 + minutes. And I shit you not I was ready to fucking leave. TOOL needs to rethink this whole, "let's take a break thing," if they're that much more tired then stupid fans in the pit. The fans btw seem pretty tired from all the moshing to such thrash anthems like H and singing all the fucking lyrics- as if I want to hear any of these scratchy, pimple-faced fuck heads sing over Maynard. Note to people in the pit: Shut the fuck up!!! There were sometimes when I couldn't even hear Maynard over the fans yelping the words! TOOL's Set, part 2 TOOL comes back out with a new backdrop. The backdrop is a perceptual image of those continuous eye rings. Setup like you were looking through a pipe or something; the middle being smaller and the edges (much closer to you) are larger. Maynard is now wearing little black shorts and still looking away from the crowd. They now play Disposition. I like this song alot. But it seemed lacking. Could have been my mood by this point of the night. I've been crammed in a truck, forced to sit down on a dirty floor against my will, stood for an eternity between wall to wall retards, and seen a pretty sub-par performance from TOOL. Then they play Reflection. I like this song... under normal circumstances. Yet, they took that long intro to it and somehow managed to drag that out for 10 + min before getting into the verse. By this point, I am just fucking pissed off!! I don't want to ruin anyone else's time so I don't yell anything out. As opposed to the jerk behind me who blurted out, "face the crowd while you're playing," because Maynard is still looking at the backdrop. After the Reflection nightmare of a performance we arrive at the cool moment of the night part 2! They began Triad and started setting up either a quad kit or just 4 piece small set up in the front-middle of the stage. Tomas comes out and it looked like Fredrik on the front-left side of the stage. If that was Fred he was working some type of Groovebox while Tomas went center stage. Tomas was wearing a TOOL hoodie; I thought that was cool of him. And man, he worked those drums throughout the entire fucking song like a maniac! And as TOOL's MO for the night; this song went on for about 15 min or so. If I was Tomas I woulda turned around and said, "Hey fuckers I'm gonna die. End the fucking song alread!" So it ended. Maynard gave a speech thanking us for coming and giving support. He then joked about a, "suggestion," the band had. He said to go home do something, and masturbate. It was sorta funny. Then they played Lateralus. Everyone seemed eager to start moshing around and doing their little thing. All the while I want jump the guardrail, steal a mic and say, "Go the fuck home!" There was no encore that was the entire, long, grueling, booooooorring fucking set. Wrap Up I was able to drag my tired ass over to the clothing stand after the concert. I stood in line about 15 min (hey, I was used to it by now). Bought a fucking Meshuggah hoodie for $60 fucking dollars. And GOT THE FUCK OUT OF THERE!! I then drove home crammed once again in my truck. All the while talking to my fellow buddy's about how boring and disappointing the show was. Got home in an hour and a half. Went the fuck t' sleep. I now look back at last night and figure there was a little music and much more standing around and waiting. You do the math. As Comicbook Guy might say, "Worst TOOL show, ever." I'm considering putting this review up on some TOOL site. Although at first glance at toolband.com and toolshed.down.net I didn't see a 'review section.'

Tool was great again. They keep on changing the set list for this tour. I was lucky enought to see it all. Well, heres the setlist. Some errors probaly. Safety Dance Pushit Dirry(Extended Salival Version) Fell In Love With A Girl Parabol (no Parabola, Maynard said it brought back bad memories of his childhood) Hakuna Matata(GREAT) Third Eye The show was spectacular! Closing with Third Eye was amazing and I nearly died! And the setlist was brilliant. Now someone post a fucking real review bitches

It was beautiful, thats all there is to it. The backdrop and stage lights were a lot, but they really added to the show *instead of distracting*. The crowd was so into it, as far as i saw there wasnt even any moshing, which was kool cuz everyone was just so tuned into the music. A lot of what they played was like the cd's, but thats great that the band can play that well live also. After a short intermission, they came back on and played Disposition and Reflection, it was so eerie, it felt like they were trying to get the message across to all of us, not just play the song. It was beautiful.

Well, it was my first Tool show ever, and it kicked ass! Someone had previously told me that they were better as an "album" band, but I have to disagree. They may not be able to reproduce every bizarro noise that they put on the record, but their showmanship is great. They started out with about fifteen minutes of noise that I at first mistook for just stuff being played in between the opening and main acts. I have to say that the highlights for me were the Timothy Leary video clip, "Stinkfist," "Schism," and "Parabola." Yeah, those are singles. I don't care. I love those songs. I guess the only things that weren't great on the night were the fact that (1) eight people sitting near me were smoking weed and I didn't get a contact buzz and (2) I can't figure out why Maynard faced away from the crowd the entire night. If anyone knows the reason for this (I'm sure there is one, and I'm just too stupid to figure it out), please email (don't post it here!) Awesome. I gotta see more shows : ) Peace.

As unbelievable or more so than there show here last year. They really stepped things up this time on every level. The Alex Grey back drops and banners were perfect as were all the visual surprises. They sounded tight as always and I could just feel the music. The best surprises of the night were H. and Third Eye. I never thought I would have a chance to hear those live especially in the same night. It was great to hear something from Opiate too. In Third Eye there was a note that Maynard just took off on. Adam's playing was brilliant as always as well as Justins, and what can I say about Danny. During Triad he just exploded with the drummer of Meshuggah. I think everyone should go to at least one tool concert in there lifetime. Anyway I hope everyone else enjoyed it as much as I did, and I really want to honestly thank Tool for what they do. So good to see you once again.

This was a hell of a show. Maynard stayed to the back of the stage the whole concert. Fairly quiet but good crowd. Sober was not on the setlist - somewhat disappointed about that but they did a awesome version of disposition. For future concert-goers at conseco fieldhouse, don't but the cheap "main" tickets to the show. The acoustics aren't the greatest at the venue. I sat closer to lower level and the sound was great compared to previous concerts I have attended...can't wait to see them again.

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. THE FACTS: setlist... Cold & Ugly (yes, i couldn't believe it either) The Grudge Stinkfist (ext) H. Schism (ext) Parabol Parabola Third Eye (yes, i couldn't believe it either. it was complete w/ the Leary exerpt and Bill Hicks comedy statement) -----Doo-tee-Doo----- Dispo Reflecto Triad (w/ meshugga's drum kit personell and a mixer) Lateralus After "The Grudge", Maynard greeted us with a very modest "good evening" After "Parabola". Maynard said "thank you for your support. I know you have heard some of these songs before, but we would like you to hear them with new ears so you can hear the message. Think for yourself. Question authority." It was at this point Dr. Leary appeared on the screens and told us to think for yourself... blah blah blah... stuff that most of you people won't do anyway. The proceeded with a near perfect version of the opus 3rd eye (!!!!!!) Okay, so now the intermission segment (bass feedback).... and the band returns to the stage. Maynard has a guitar strapped around himself which could only mean we are going to get the DRT trilogy. Audience wasn't to enthusiastic about it, but after R, everyone was wild. Triad featured the guest help... After T, Maynard once again said "thank you for your support through these turbulent years..." he made non- direct references to peace in the middle east, no war, george w. sucks... then Maynard seemed to go off the bender a bit and said we hope you are inspired. we hope you are feeling extremely horny. we want you to go home, put on a fire and a copy of ????, curl up and write some poetry. And then we want you to masturbate. They played Lateralus, the band formed a circle center stage, Maynard threw a lot of water bottles into the crowd and then hopped on Adam like he was wanting a piggy-back ride. Maynard gave the peace sign and then exited. Adam, Justin, and Danny remained on stage and waved to us. Maynard seemed a bit uptight during the 1st half of the show, he was later very animated during the 2nd half. Cold & Ugly and Third Eye were extreme suprises. Triad was pretty fucking amazing (much to my suprise) Glad to see they DID NOT open up or play Sober. Glad to see they DID NOT play Aenima. Happy they played H. Happy they played with their hearts and energy... thank you Adam, Justin, Maynard, Danny, you make life a bit more enjoyable. And I did not go home and masturbate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my friends and i spent (cumulatively) 12 hours in a car, got lost, and almost killed each other in the process of getting to the concert. was it worth it? hell yes, it was. maynard and the rest sounded great. now i see why people would follow them around and see them perform multiple times on the same tour. this is a partial setlist, done purely from memory (so don't kill me if it isn't 100% accurate): Intro (it was mantra, i believe) a song i don't think i've ever heard before, possibly a cover the grudge ions stinkfist H (now is where it starts to get fuzzy, so it's now out of order) i know they also played third eye, disposition, reflection, schism, parabol/parabola, triad (i think), that 20 long jam session with meshuggah, and lateralis last. there were probably more songs played, but i'm tired and can't quite remember. i only had two bitches about the show: one, HOW THE HELL DO YOU MOSH TO THIRD EYE?!? and two, they had the instruments turned up a little too loud. i would have liked to hear maynard a bit more. other than that, it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

The show was awesome. Meshuggah sucked. Just seemed like alot of pointless groing and screaming. Tools set was great. The opened with a song from Opiate that I can't recall the title of. They didn't play AEnima but all but made up for it by playing Third Eye. The Timothy Leary thing on the screen was awesome. Meshuggah came out and jammed with Tool in the free flowing thing that last for like 20 minutes...it was great. They played some great songs!! The crowd was in amazement. Tool is easily the best live band i have ever seen. The show finished with spiral...man it was great. The band had a group hug afterwards and threw picks and things into the crowd...Maynard threw is bottles of waters to us on the side of the stage it was great. I would follow the tour everywhere if i could afford it.

well, where to start? I must say this show exceeded my expectations, which were high to begin with. The stage set for this tour is beyond spectacular, especially all the changes during d/r/t/l. I'm not completely sure, but it looks like there was a statue of Horus between Danny's bass drums. The setlist was the usual lateralus songs with Cold and Ugly as the opener, H., and Third eye w/ the timothy Leary intro. Maynard's back was turned for most of the set, which seemed to aggravate most of the "Maynard is tool" people. Personally, i was hard pressed to decide whether Danny's stellar drumming or the amazing visuals gained my main focus. All in all, this was the best Tool experience I've had so far. Hope everyone that went to the show did their "homework". hail discordia.

i believe this setlist is accurate considering i wrote it down during the show: cold and ugly the grudge stinkfist (extended) h. schism parabol/a THIRD EYE -intermission- disposition reflection triad (with meshuggah) lateralus so yeah. this show was absolutely breathtaking...hands down the best out of the three times i've seen them. maynard didn't talk very much this nite, but completely made up for it in terms of sound. there were a few problems at the beginning...seemed like the guys weren't exactly with it for the first few songs. after h. things came together and they delivered the rest of the show almost flawlessly. THIRD EYE fucking blew my mind. i still can't believe i saw it live. how many times have they teased us with it?? and it finally happened...good goddamn third eye was amazing. maynard's voice was absolutely beautiful during reflection...my favorite part of the set besides third eye. so melodic...so entrancing. and triad with meshuggah was wonderful as always. overall......my mind, my soul, my consciousness....blown. thanks for a wonderful nite guys...see you next time

This was a gem among Tool shows. I'll be bragging about this when I'm eighty. Just to be alive at the same time as Tool already places one in the upper echelons of the luckiest human beings in history, but to witness this show...indescribable. Anyway: Venue: Conseco Fieldhouse has incredible sound, one of the reasons this show was so special. Volume was perfect. If you ever have a chance to see Tool at Conseco Fieldhouse DO IT (and get floor tickets). I was on the floor left of center with excellent view of Maynard and Adam, about 20 ft back. Moshing was bad during first few songs, after that it toned down. Meshuggah: uses an electric harmonica (good), singer performs in cargo pants (bad), singer thanks people for listening (good). They got the typical "Tool opening band cold shoulder" to quote Patton. Some kids took over the mosh pit and started "fake moshing" (ie goofy dance moves, chicken dance, etc.) to heckle them, hilarious. I won't judge their music because I haven't listened to it enough. They certainly played wonderfully in Triad. Tool: I won't try to describe how incredible this was. Let it suffice to say that we got Third Eye, Intermission, Disposition, Reflection, Triad, Lateralus in that order and in a great arena with great sound. For the initiated this should be impressive enough. Maynard was in excellent form, we got bike shorts and really intense movement. Adam was incredible. CD tossing: Adam gets hit with a CD case thrown from the crowd at the beginning of reflection. It hits him in the shoulder but he shows Zen like indifference. Not a flicker of emotion crosses his face, no anger, just pure concentration, and he keeps on playing. Ironically he goes on to play the first solo in Triad with a CD and then tosses it out into the crowd. I'm about 80per certain Justin downed a couple cold ones during the beginning of Triad. Did I mention they played Third Eye?

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

I don't even know how to even begin to describe this show. It was unbelievalby good. This was my second Tool experience and it has been my best so far. I was afraid that I wouldn't get to go to the show due to a change of plans a few days before the show, but luckely I was able to atened it. I took my best friend who wasn't really into tool all that much before she met me, and my father to the show. We left at about 9am and arived at Conseco Fieldhouse around 3pm where we were lucly enough to wander into the lobby, after using the bathroom in the starbucks next door, and hear tool's sound check!!! This was pure luck because when we went to sit and wait outside the venue they stopped allowing people to go through the doors, other than to purchase tickets, until 6 pm. After a few hours of waiting outside and talking with other people in line we were finally able to go in. As soon as we got through the doors my friend and I ran to get our wristbands for the floor then quickly stopped by the merchandise booth to buy shirts. Then we made our way to the floor found a place incrediibly close to the stage where we sat in anticipation, along with several other excired fans, for the show to begin. Meshuggah put on a rather good preformance. I wasn't really into their music that much (my friend likes them) but I thought that they were good for what they were. We managed to stay on our feet while they were playing which was good. After they fineshed preforming we stood there anxiously awaiting Tool. Finally after what seemed like an eternity the lights went down and Tool took the stage for what would be an incredible preformance. The setlist (which has already been posted so I won't post it again) was amazng. I hadn't read any reviews of any of the previous shows so I was very pleasently suprised with it. I could not believe they actually played Third Eye, Cold and Ugly and H. it was almost too much for me to handle. This show was simply breathtaking. The visuals were amazing and the extended versions of the songs gave them even more power and emotion than the original versions. I was brought to tears numerous times during the show because of the deep emotions the songs bring out in me. I was so happy to have been able to share such an experience with my friend. It opened her up to the world of Tool. Now she is much more interested in their music than she once was. The overall effect of the show was incredible. The backdrops and video screens were amazing as always, and I even caught some of the confeti dropped durring Disposition which I now have in a little plastic baggy in my room. The band preformed every song beautifully. Maynard had his back to us for a large portion of the show but that's not really important. All that is important is that Tool put on a great sounding show full of emotional depth.I could not have hoped for a better show than what I saw on Oct. 21. I'm sure other reviewers will go into more detail about the more technical aspects of the show such as what Maynard said, what happened visualy during the songs, ect., but for me it is nearly impossible to even attempt to explain or really review this show. It was just too amazing. I hope that I will be able to see Tool again in the future. Going to their shows is alomst like a spiritual experience for me, but until then I just wish I could thank them for producing some of the greatest music I've ever heard and putting on the best live shows I've ever seen. This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

Ok, I know not many people will see this since it is so far after the show, but here goes. Tool is simply in contention as the most amazing band out there today. With all of the bull shit that gets rammed down everyones throats, this breath of fresh air is a blessing of God. I for one am so thankful that the forces set in motion allowed these four young gentlemen to find themselves amidst this ocean of Chaos. Without Tool our lives would obviously be more boring and dull. Any of you out there that actually have the shallowness to complain about the setlist are in a serious need for growth spirt of some sort. (preferably in the temperal lobe area). Just be happy and thankful that you gained such an experience to witness something so beautiful take place. Yes, I am talking Tool up through the roof, but I am an avid fan, listener, and creator of music so I feel what Im saying holds HELLA WEIGHT. Next on the docet, all of you that go to shows and just sit there with your thumbs in your asses. I know its a beautiful site to behold and that maybe too much erbus smoke mixed with some caps or chemicals of somesort may cause you to become unaware of your body, but come on. These guys are on stage each night putting out enough energy to fuel a fully populated city for a month. Im more than sure that they would appreciate a little reciprocity. Drop your egos and "disposition" at the door and feel that moment, let it take you to a place you don't ever get to go in your boring, dull, monotone, repetitious lives (me included). Oh yea, Third Eye was something of a catalyst for opening new dimensions. Words will never describe. Peace, Seaner Ride the Sprial till the End.....

This was this reviewer's 5th Tool show

Yes, this show was great. For those who didn't notice, Maynard was dressed as a cop for the beginning of this show, then stripping to his typical black (leather?) uhm.....hot pants. The cop thing was funny, as the Conseco Fieldhouse is run by a bunch of nazis. They required everything to be out of our pockets for patdown (including all money and loose change), and when I was patted down, I felt as if the security guy had been trying to jerk me off :/ TONS of cops around, and the venue is a bunch of smoking nazis, as if I had anally raped someone's mother for smoking one cigarette. Tool played Cold and Ugly as an opening, which was much appreciated by me, as it's one of my favorite songs from Opiate. They also played Third Eye. All I can say is wow. The stage was awesome. They had some great uses of Alex Grey's artwork. The show was great overall. Another worthwhile Tool show.

We left at about 9am and arived at Conseco Fieldhouse around 3pm where we were lucly enough to wander into the lobby, after using the bathroom in the starbucks next door, and heared tool's sound check!!! Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. Fucking amazing, my words can do the music and performance no justice. Hard to highlight any parts of the show. Just get out there and experience it yourself!!!

The best show yet... 3rd eye was a surprise & performed flawlessly - it had been hinted at during prior shows but none of us expected it the stunning visual media + the lights & the MUSIC makes for a truly psychedelic experience Being able to smoke leisurely with friends from a great seat in the stands at a TOOL concert is one of the best things in life, IMHO btw, If anyone has movies or photographs from a Tool show, email me for possible trading... I have audio bootlegs of this & other Tool concerts w/ & w/out commentary Again - remarkable artistry & many thanks go to TOOL

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

This was my first tool concert. Hopefully not my last. I actually cryed most of the show. It's that larchmology thing. The guys were great. I just wanted them to keep playing. But everyting has it's beginning and it's end. When the show was over and we were walking out someone yelled. Everyone followed for the last screams of the nigh. I left with some kind of buzz. Tool just touched me in all the right places. It was like some great big therapy session? I really could not get into messhugga, but at least I listened. I don't understand how U can say that they suck. There is always some thing there we are just not listening. As adam said "dude that's not what it's about".
