A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: October 24

From: "Kevin M. Kirk" (kevink@xact.com) Subject: Tour Review: Seattle/Tacoma I attended the Seattle show (actually it was in Tacoma) at the University of Puget Sound's Field House (a gym of all places). I have to say that it was well worth the 650 round trip miles I drove to see them . . . As far as "rock" shows go, it was the best show I've been to in a long, long time. The sound was spectacular: it was crisp, it was clean, not "ear bleeding" loud, and you could understand everything MJK said. They played a good balance of songs from both Undertow and AEnema and tossed in a splash of Opiate for good measure. Also, each song was performed exactly the way they were on the record. Every cymbal, note and sound effect were precisely where they belonged. This is something very few bands can achieve and in a world full of bands that absolutely suck live, it's good to know that there are still truly gifted artists (and sound engineers) lurking about the masses. All in all, Tool is an amazing band on stage as well as in the studio. GO SEE THEM! For those of you you who truly appreciate music, it will be an experience you will never forget.
