A Review of the Fall 1996 Tour

Date: November 30

From: charlief@golden.net Subject: kris/dave's TOOL REVIEW Less than 12 hours ago, my friend Dave and I (Krystal), were at the TooL concert at the Warehouse in Toronto. Considering the fact I almost died in the pit, and got out less than a minute into the show, it was totally amazing. We would both have to agree that Maynard topped the show off with his incredible style of dancing and the visual aspect of his colourful ideas:) (he was painted half blue and half white). Though he didn't play nearly enough songs off 'Undertow', it was definetly not the show to miss. Dave is incredibly disappointed that TooL didn't play 'Hooker with a Penis' or 'Jerk-off'. I am, like always, quite contented because I did not die last night. If Maynard reads this stuff, I'd just like to tell him that if he wasn't already married, I'd marry him myself...Dave says he would too, even though he's not gay. I guess one thing I'd like to critisize is that TooL didn't play 4degrees. But luckily they played Prison Sex/AEnema. Here's Dave: okay, my turn.. i'll be brief.. i'd just like to establish first of all that musically, it was an amazing show.. Maynard's voice was perfect, and the other boys were machines (that's a good thing).. they played a lot of slow stuff.. my only complaint i guess would have to be the mosh pit itself.. i mean, if you thought you were going to get to watch the show from anywhere near the stage, you had better be aware that a) you couldn't breath (literally, i almost passed out in the first five minutes) and b) there are countless guys over 6' sailing around on top of you.. if that doesn't bother you, get right in there.. i pity any of the fourteen year old girls waiting to "rock" to Sober, because they're probably still lying on the floor in the Warehouse.. anyways, i stayed at the back the whole time with my earplugs and heard and saw everything.. great stuff..
