By 10:20 we were restless, and the chant of "TOOL TOOL TOOL" began. Metro's was packed with our sweaty, semi pissed bodies, all waiting. The lights dimmed, and the deep bass rumblings of Negative Ions set us to a pulsating, resonating mass. And then Danny, Adam, Justin and Maynard came out, and we went apeshit. For the next hour and forty minutes we were assaulted with the aural ecstasy that is TOOL: (not in any particular order) Third Eye Stinkfist Eulogy Forty six & 2 H Hooker with a penis Pushit Prison Sex (Danny, Justin and Adam fuck with their instruments; Maynard does something on the floor) Sober Opiate nema (encore) The gig was fantastic, not only in the absolute brilliance with which Tool played, but with also the amazing energy they conveyed to the crowd- I don't think anyone could walk away from it and say that they didn't feel something stir deep inside them. It was a typical Tool concert- body paint covering Maynard, Justin and Adam, Maynard's meditation rings (?) drawn on the floor, as well as his speech about how Tool wasn't about violence and hate, but emotions. He also asked for a couple of chicks to help him celebrate his 33rd birthday today (the 17th) but I didn't hang round to see if he got some ;) Best concert I've been to in ages.

Very Loud. Very Cool. Very Tool. Episodes of note: After Maynard proposed that the ladies in the audience should give him a birthday present to remember, he also confirmed that he is not gay. He said something like "None of the things that are said about me tend to be true - I'm a breeder." Maynard revealed (for those of you who didn't get it) that the 'ssh, ssh' sound that begins the song 'Aenema' is meant as the simulation of, in his words, "hot water shooting up your ass." Most of the tracklist was their recognised hits, with a perfectly-executed version of Third Eye to open the show, and ending on Opiate, with Maynard giving a long poetical speech about the Catholic church and sex. There was a long experimental instrumental near the end of the set, and they encored after much urging with a particularly agressive version of Aenema.

When we saw him later he didn't seem to be having much luck... Anyone shagged him then?
