This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Well one word can explain this concert...amazing. i arrived at 6:30..got my wristband and headed down thethe floor area.I got there and was one of the first people there.so naturraly i went to the front where the barracades were.so i waited until 7:30 to come around .then promtly at 7:30 Tomahawk came out dressed in police officer material and the lead singer with a gasmask.they were quite awesome.the lead singer made fun of certain new jersey artists as Bon Jovi and Bruce Springstein.that was funny.very.then some asshole gave him the finger.so he (the lead singer of tomahawk) told this guy to "fuck off you Sugar-Ray look-alike motherfucker." that was hilarious.Tomahawk finshed their set.id say they were quite the right band to open for Tool because they put ion a geat show.and the plastic deer was a nice touch too. Then everyone just stood around waiting for Tool. Then at around 8:30 the band made there way onto the stage.adam looked around then looked at justin then danny and started his little jam into the opening song, Sober.the crowd erupted.it was a great moment in history.the setlist was as follow..dont worry this is correct: Sober The Grudge (-) Ions Stinkfist Forty Six & 2 Schism Parabol Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Ænema Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus during every song there was some sort of magic happening on and off stage.the screens on the either side of the stage were amazing.im not going to write down what was going on on thew screens cause that would ruin youre suprise.BUT the back drop for the stage was amazing.it was some artwork by Cam DeLeon.truly amazing!!!!I was soo happy that Tool put on a great show/words could not explain the emoiton and energy i was feelng when i shouted every lyirc to every song they played.yeah the band ended the show with a long as stretch of music which was a 30 minute long playing of dispostion-reflection-triad(which was the most fucking awesome song of the night because they playedit for like 10 minutes)-Lateralus.then the band threw some goodies into the crowd.had a group hug and the maynard exited.justin, adam and danny stayed out a little longer.i wish adam would have smiled.the major downfall of the concert...you guessed it...moshers.those fuckers.they abosolutely ruined most of the night.i loved the show but those assholes have to go.i mean its a Tool show, isnt there supposed to be healing and prosperity, not shoving and drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes.and yeah the whole cigarette thing FUCK YOU FOR SMOKING! but anyway i saw Tool front row so i was happy.now im sore and i need some sleep. ~thank you for a great show Adam Justin Danny and Maynard...you guys rocked. -dave

AMAZING! I saw them last year twice and was blown away. This tour they are so much better. Visually and musically. I was in awe of the visual setup. That backdrop was so cool with the faces, skulls and fetus. Then during the second set it was the lateralus eyes. I liked how maynard was more up front and visible and he seemed alot more active. Justin was headbanging during triad? Yea he moved alittle but adam was his usual self. Danny amazing on the drums, my personal fav was triad. WHat a jam seession that was. I loved how they opened with sober, it got everyone going nuts. I thought the crowd was great, other than a guy puking in the middle by the sound system guys. And some girls gossiping about stupid shit during reflection. YOu'll have this at any show gauranteed. I had a great time as did my girl and i wish i could of gone on to see them in NYC. Hoping to see them before they finish touring. If you people reading this havn't seen them yet on this tour, do it because it is unreal. So familiar and overwhelmingly warmmmm.....this... guy with chilipeppersshirton

i'll start with tomahawk.. we got there really early, me and my girlfriend were one of the first ones, we got a place rifght up in the front by the railing. Tomahawk played a really good set, im not familur with any of thier materal but what i heard i like.. of course a large majority of the crowd were booing them. and i guess that IS what comes with being such an expieremental band.. but it really just wasnt needed. they all came out as cops as ive read in past reviews.. mike patton said some interesting things, calling one fan " guy with the sugar ray hair" " you produced jon bon jovi i produced red hot chilli peppers" and " whos the greatest rock star to come out of NJ? anybody? Maynard James Keenan!" Now for tool, they hit the stage at about 9 the new stage set up is awesome. how they pull off some of the stuff is really cool, kudous to the stage crew for an awesome job. the setlist: IN THE RIGHT ORDER they didnt play h stevo you dumbass.. you wanted them to play 46 and 2 but you dont even know what it sounds like. Sober - great opener Grudge Stinkfist ( extended w/ suspicious minds) 46 and 2 Schism ( extended) Parabol Parabola Patient - awesome vibe put off by the band Aenma _______________ intermission ______________ Dispostion Reflection Triad ( extended jam w/ guy from tomahwak Lateralus- perfect way to end it. it was an awesome show. from what i saw of it.. the croud here in trention REALLY SUCKED. .. 98 % of the "fans" here consisted of drunk frat boys.. if anyone has ever bitched about maynard or anyone in tool being dicks to the fans.. take some time to think maybe the fans are the dicks.. TOOL HAS EXPRESSED BEFORE THEY DONT LIKE IT WHEN YOU ASSHOLES MOSH, your going to thier show.. with thier teeshirts on and making a fool out of yourself.. try sittin back and just soakin it in. if you ever listen to the lyrics to a tool song you would know they arnt meant to be moshed to. a couple interesting facts about the concert. maynard came out in his black leather out fit.. but lost it after schism, also had his face painted black right down the middle. Danny came out and did some electronic work with tomahawk on thier set. Durring Schism the stage crew acidently released the confetti, maynard looked over to the side of the stage and made a motion to stop it.. the rest caMe on " the patient" Adam was having some guitar problems durring " Reflection" he missed a few lines everything i remember maynard saying " is this trenton? are you sure? are you sure? " " thank you for reminding us why we do this" " let tonite be a catalyst to bring something positve into your life in the next few years" thats all i remember. it was a great show.. i would advise a real tool fan to get good seats tho instead of the pit for a number of reasons. 1. you cant see the visuals unless your back aways, the new stuff is pretty damn cool from what i saw. 2. it helps to enjoy the show more.. you can apreciate great music alot more when your not being shoved around all in all tool is the best live band around. they had alot of energy tonite and a stage prescence was felt from every member

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Not gonna post the set-list cause other peopel got to it already. Just wanna add my thoughts. I have been waiting for this show for 5 yrs now. Every time I had a chance to go see tool something happened to screw me out of it. I had a chance to go to the show at Hammerstein, my gf even got in for free. But she told me not to come cause she didn't think she could get me in which wasn't the acse. Well anyways with that said. Every minute of waiting for this show was worth it. The fact they started with Sober which is probably my favorite Tool song, and that I got to see 46&2 and Aenima both live after readin that they aren't played as often as other songs. Two words are all I have to describe the evening -Simply Amazing- I wasn't too into Tomahawk's live show cause unfortunately Mike Patton's bands dont translate that well to a live show. But I laughed my arse off when he said "Yeah we may suck, but you have to live here" A few things to note which I'm not sure anyone mentioned, but took me by surprise. Maynard on guitar. My god. At first I thought that he was just playing some little backround stuff for it but during Triad he was playing more complicated riffs then Adam. Gives me a new level of respect for the man. Danny was unfathomably amazing. If he isn't recognized as the best drummer alive by someone soon then, well, i think enough Tool fans see it already. All in all there were a few minor hiccups during the show, one song, I don't remember which, Maynard sung the wrong verse first but played it off pretty good, and scattered throughout the first half there seemed to be some mike issues with his volume not being as high as one would think it should. After 5 years I finally got my chance to see them, and have now spoiled myself from being able to find a concert that will top monday night. Except for thursday :-) when I get to see them again from better seats :-)

This was this reviewer's 4th Tool show

Where to start? This was my 4th show and my wife's first. All I can say is we left the show hand in hand and didn't say a word until we were almost home. Then we looked at each other and errupted into conversation about the experience. This Tool show, any Tool show, is an inspiring event. They have evolved and matured and inspired if not required their audience to think about the world and their place in it. We arrived late to the floor and caught the end of Tomahawk. It was the end of the set as the crowd was getting antsy to see Tool. There were quite a few booing fans making their feelings heard for Mike Paton and the boys. But Mike thanked the crowd for being "good sports." Before Tool came out my wife and I were observing a group of about 5 or 6, what appeared to be human figures in front of us "warming up". Swinging arms, stretching muscles, massaging each others shoulders, explaining to each other how to throw a proper elbow, pacing, and using plenty of double-negatives. Clearly prehistoric in nature. In general I have to say the crowd had a great balance and was totally into the music. The sound quality was excellent and the pounding from Danny's drum kit was moving to say the least. I have never "felt" sound like that before and have been to many concerts over the years. What can you say about Danny? It's like there's another person up there playing with him. Maynard started with the black leather, but went with the black speedo for most of the show while sporting a wide black stripe down the center of his face. Standing on his platform toward the back left of the stage Maynard did an amazing job of staying out of the spotlight and making the audience want him more. At times all you could see of him was his silhouette. Also it appeared that the video that was shown on the 20ft screens was also being shown on Maynards platform. Is this true? It was difficult to tell from the floor. As the show progressed, the lighting, stage effects and videos became increasingly more ornate and colorful. Alex Grey did all the back drops while, I would assume Adam did the videos. Kudos to both men. Their set was as tight as usual and a nice blend of new and old(er). Thanks to Dave (above) for the set list. 46 & 2 was a special treat, for me.

I have seen Tool four times now but this one was by far the most powerful of the four. The visuals are cool but they are not the real story. The band was in a paralyzing zone here in Trenton. I had to catch my breath during schism and Aenima was the best rock song ever performed live. I have never felt like this before and I suppose that I will never be the same. WoW

Once again, TOOL rock out as only they can. And although they put on a great performance, it wasn’t as good as the Saturday show in Baltimore. Pretty much the same set list except they played 46&2 instead of H. Maynard showed no creativeness in his intermission speeches (they were the same as on Saturday). Overall, they just didn’t seem to be into it. Long pauses between songs, Danny taking a few minutes to tune his toms, and overall lack of emotion throughout the performance, which wasn’t the case in Baltimore. Maybe it was because there were such high levels of anger and aggression in the audience, by the way, the New Jersey crowed sucked, or maybe it was just an off night. Either way, they still put on a great performance, just not as good as the Baltimore show. As far as Tomahawk goes, they did far better in Jersey as compared to Baltimore. A good set with lots of emotion. The crowed didn’t seem to into them too much, but what can you expect from an audience raised on MTV and thinking Limp Bizkit and Creed are good bands. I guess if a band isn’t on MTV’s rotation every hour, they must not be worth listening too, yeah right. KILL YOUR MTV, go out and find your music elsewhere. That’s my 2 cents.

Amazing show. Tomahawk was great. Not too many people get into them tho...Mike Patton was being very sarcastic and funny the entire night. I had a little sign in my pocket that said "will work for shrimp" and i held it up and Mike Patton said "Fuck you and your fucking sign man!" was pretty funny. Tool was absolutely mind blowing. Aenema was the best song of the night in my opinion. They just played it perfect. And I would like to say FUCK YOU to all of you idiotic tool fans on the floor who INSISTED on fucking MOSHING at a tool show. I am very disappointed. I was two people away from the gate and the pressure from people pushing and moshing was almost unbearable. It was hard to enjoy the concert to the full extent. But I guess next time I wont get floor seats. How the hell do you mosh to Disposition and Reflection??? Let alone ANY tool songs. They arent moshing songs.. If you want to mosh, go see slayer or pantera. Tool is much better if you sit back and soak them up. Embrace the music for a change instead of making an idiot of yourself in the fucking mosh pit. But other than that, tool put on another perfect performance. Even with all the idiots, I really really enjoyed the show.

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

This was my first time seeing Tool live, and it was totally amazing. Everything I expected and then some. I went with my two friends, both of whom had seen Tool before. We got there at like 6:15 with no tickets- we were going to get them from scalpers but luckily they still had them at the box office so we only had to pay like 40 bucks for our seats. They weren't bad at all considering we just walked up and bought them- to the side of the stage, but we were pretty close to the band and we could still see the video screen. We got an amazing view of Danny on the drums- that guy is a machine. Anyway, after we got our tickets we just chilled in the parking lot and drank some beers. While we were standing there drinking this dude at the car across from us was smoking a joint, and when he was down to the roach, he walked up to me, handed me the roach, and then walked away without a word. True story. Dude, whoeverr you are, if you're reading this, you freakin rock. The nitrous guy in the lot was a real asshole though, he wouldn't give any change and wouldn't replace a balloon for you if it popped. But enough of that- on to the important stuff- TOOL! We missed almost all of Tomahawk's set, so we only caught the last song, but we were still there in time to see Tool set up. I'm not sure exactly what time they came on, but these were the songs they played: Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46 & 2 Aenema (-) Ions Eeon Blue Apocalypse Parabol/Parabola Schism The Patient Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus That's not the order they were played in- Sober was the opener and they ended with Lateralus but I don't remember they exact order of the songs in between. Hearing them play Sober at the start was totally amazing, as it was with every other song, but I'd have to say the highlights were 46 & 2 and Disposition/Reflection/Triad. I really wanted to hear Eulogy and Third Eye, and I wanted to hear at least one song from Opiate, but I can't complain, it was still awesome. We're going to the East Rutherford one on Thursday too, so maybe I'll get to hear Eulogy there. Anyway, perfect ten, five stars, best show I've ever been to (until Thursday anyway).

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

Behold! It has come to pass that the Lord Maynard James Keenan has revealed certain secrets to select neophytes and some initiates in the public realm. Perhaps there were some masters in the audience, I know not. Regardless of the audience members level of ascent, the secrets were revealed to those who were attentive enough, and learned enough to understand. Lord Danny Carey conveyed, with the help of the percussionist from "Tomahawk", a message of utmost beauty and precision toward the end of the performance with which I was most impressed. Master Adam Jones attempted to hold together the mystic ladder of the Tree of Life several times, and suceeded to climb at least one metaphorical step during the brief solo. Let it be known! He who has ears, let him hear Tool, he who has eyes let him see the set, he who has tounge, let him speak the glory of Tool. I have to say, that I was mostly concerned with my own practice, so I cannot comment on the "set list" or other mundane facts of the show. I was concerned with feeding to Tool the life of the crowd, and sacrificing those in my section for the good of the populous. I have said too much already. Until that day.

THIS was well worth the hour 1/2 drive! My wife and I sat inside a cool cafe across the street from the Arena drinking cold suds on a hot night. We went inside about 10 minutes before Tool walked out and they just lit the place up! Sober into The Grudge....just awesome. HIGH-LITES? too many to list but here are a few: Justin looking back at Danny and headbanging at the end of Aenima. Triad. Danny, Danny, Danny...just a bad ass! NOT being on the floor in the middle of the mosh pit. Forty-six & 2. Maynard, "Trenton"..."are you sure?" No traffic going home. Lateralus. LOWLITE: power hungry security man-child tossing my Altoid mints. Yeah, I'm gonna tote some hallucinogens in my fanny pack for all to see! F'ng Idiot! Anyway, my Tool Junkie wife caught them in Manhattan at RCMH last night and should post a review for that. As for me I was well pleased with the Trenton show.

The setlist above is definently correct, so I wont post mine. Tomahawk, in my humble opinion, sucked. I'm not some MTV fratboy, but I won't act hypcritical and actually pretend that I think Mike Pattons constant screeching and yelling is actually good. The crowd on the floor definently hated them, and Mike Patton responded to the middle finger(s) and boo's from the crowd with "We may suck, but you have to live here!" They finished at about 8:10, and Tool began to set up. I went and took a leak and got a drink, and when I came back, some kind of tension building (-) ions type of song was playing. At 8:20 the lights dimmed, and Tool "snuck" onto the stage. Eventually, Sober began, and thsu began the greatest concert excpierence of my life. There was plenty of moshing, as the crowd was definently into Tool, but I dont think Tool was into the crowd as much. The only thing Maynard said that wasn't said at other show was "Trenton" ::crowd cheers loudly:: "Trenton" :more loud cheering:: "Are you sure" ::really really loud cheer:: and then went into Stinkfist. As normal, Adam seemed out of it, and even Justin wasnt really moving as much. Great show, I just wish Tool put in more enthusiam. I can't complain though...

When I bought the tickets, I wasn't thrilled about going to Trenton -- based much on word-of-mouth of what the city is (or isn't) but I was impressed by security (they were real cops, not minimum wage "security" workers), the venue was very nice - intimate seating almost regardless of your seat location, the cheap parking (only $4) and you had to love the fact that the locals were selling tool t-shirts for $15 -- but I talked them down to $10 :-). I intentially missed Tomahawk, so I can't say anything about that. Tool was great and the audience was great -- except there was an unusual amount of moshing -- moreso than any tool concert I've been to. usually I see crowd surfing and a little moshing -- but this was somewhat significant. Too bad. My only gripe is that they only played 1 undertow song (Sober) -- I really wanted to hear the opiate/flood combo. As I mentioned before the audience was great and I really think the band members fed off of that because I've never seen Justin move as much as he did in Trenton. Although at the end Maynard walked right off the stage, the other members took a bow or two at the edge of the stage -- which maybe doesn't sound like a lot to fans of other bands, to a tool fan that means to me that they really appreciated the fans that night. Looking forward to seeing them at Continental Arena. Hope you enjoy your show too. Marc H. Strother

Great show Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46n2 Schism Parabol/Parabola Patient Aenema -------- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus Have to admit, I gave Tomahawk a chance, but Mike Patton is just a jerk off by all stretches of the word. Its one thing to not have the favor of the crowd, but its another to intentionally make the crowd hate you. Tool tight as always, new stage setup is just awe-inspiring.. The crowd actually behaved. Most just stood in amazement. See you in NYC

This was this reviewer's 11th Tool show

Sorry Kabir, I’m posting this to both nights ‘cause it’s the entire experience more than a specific night that moved me. Like the man says, “Inspiration”. True brilliance. Thank you to all that are Tool. 1st show Trenton First time at this venue, not bad at all. Security didn’t seem too overbearing. I finally got to see an opening act w/Tool ; P I’m not a big fan of everything Mike Patton does (some but not everything) but, Tomahawk seems to be one of the better possibilities. Never heard anything by tomahawk b4 last night and I liked ‘em but, most of Dirty Jersey didn’t seem to think so. Fans were booing pretty bad, really lame. Tomahawk definitely didn’t seem to let it bother them too bad. I’m sayin’ to myself, “Just shut the fuck up, these guys have more creativity in their little toes than any of you could even SPELL!!” Patton wound up making some fucking hilarious statement mentioning “Tha Boss” and Bonjovi. I was laughing my ass off. I think it mighta been Buzz, was playing while flipping the bird. I thought it was pretty funny myself but, sometimes it hard for some to laugh at themselves. Then again, I’m not from (would never wanna to be) from Jersey. John Stanier didn’t seem to let any of this tomfoolery, as he didn’t skip a beat (no lame pun intended). More on him later. I was a little leary of the crowd’s energy after Tomahawk. My first show of the tour, I was/am totally amped. The 1st set, they played a lot of “hits” from Undertow and Aneima. My first few shows, I remember “wanting” to hear something. Now, the list doesn’t matter as much as the energy that is realized does. It’s like women, at 1st u want the hot blond with the big tits then ya get her and you realize….it’s ALL pink inside!!! Sorry ladies. With that being said … they played 46&2…..NICE!!! Brought things back down really well with schism to parabol/a and intermission (I love the new “bobbing” skull graphics ) and eased into the new stuff. Triad was excellent!!!! Stanier added a great energy. He was killing it. Between him and Carey, I was flipping my wig. What a great experience it was to have been there and to feel zeitgeist. As an aside, I read others posts before posting this….I didn’t think the crowd was too bad as far as violence/moshing. I mean, I bounce around and get worked up by these guys but, I my idea of “dancing” also does NOT include charging another human nor expecting another to lift me up. For all of you whiny lil’ elitist “hardcore fans” complaining about people moving on the floor, “Go fuck yourself, you asinine pieces of shit. Don’t buy tickets on the fucking floor!!!!!!!!! Fucking problem solved!” And for you crusty ass non- smokers, stay the fuck home and pop in a cd if you want to hear Tool sans smoke. Sniveling lil’ shits…I know it’s bad for me and everyone else, cognitive dissidence would be the correct terminology for this phenomenon I believe . I thought the guys were DEFINITELY into it. Linus (funkyfresh123@hotmail.com) is the only reviewer I can really identify with here. 2nd show Radio City I gotta thank my old lady for this show (thanx lis’!!), she copped the tix. Way fucking cool that these guys added this show. Very much similar to last year’s pre-tour “An Evening with Tool” show at Hammerstein in the degree of intimacy. Pretty much the same set with a few variations. Second into the set, Maynard shouted out Joey Ramone and they kicked into a cover/tribute (very cool). Very cool. I couldn’t tell what it was as I was could off guard but, it sounded great!!! Very cool. Also, got 4 degrees as opposed to 46+2. Maynard chatted it up a bit more than last night. Making a point to thank Mr. Grey among others. Brooklyn in da house!!! We live one neighborhood away from his shop!!!! ; D The crowd seemed a little subdued but, my guess was that it was the venue. Adam continued to crank away even though somethin’ was goin’ on with his equipment/monitor. Felt like the tech was joining the show for the night. I’m quite sure this had a bit of a negative draw of energy. Triad felt a little flat at some points maybe I’m totally biased after last nights nugget. Yet, the tech filling in had some big shoes to fill and did a great job with it. I think more than anything he was a little nervous (who wouldn’t be!?!?). Going……………….going……………….going……………going………… Sincererly, Thankful, the guy in the black Tool shirt ; P Funniest rumor heard on this tour: “The “glitter” falling from the ceiling….is gold flakes from Danny’s kit!!” Bwahahahaaa!!!!!!! Favorite quote from a Tool show: 2 “biker” dudez with Hell’s Angels back patches, “Local Yokal Chapter” as they smoke some dirt in a bowl, “Huh….I guess these guys, like, feed off the energy of the crowd er somethin’....” WTF!?!

Hello. Surprised more people havn't posted here yet. Or maybe I shouldn't be because so many of the people that attended the show were ignorant sluts, as far as worthwhile music and manners go. To go out of your way to loudly boo an opening band during and after every song, especially one that Tool has invited on tour is just sad. Very sad. But Patton was right when he said "Yeah, we suck, Jersey. But you have to live here! Haaaahaha!" Thank God I don't. ewww. Anyhow, this show as you might imagine, still generated a lot of positive energy so I will speak about that for a second. I'm glad I didn't read every review this time around because it was nice to have some surprises. There was so much to look at! And it was beyond beautiful. Grey has really outdone himself with this. The setlist was superior. Intro sound Intro/eye circle sound (I remembered this very well from the last tour and I can't quit describe the feeling when I hear it. ) Sober (a little different, very nice.) The Grudge -Ions/Stinkfist (extended, yummy) 46+2 Schism (nice new intro notes) Parabol Parabola (dear godness. surprises.) Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient (RED RED RED) Ænema (after a drive thru nyc and nj, I was indeed praying for rain, and this song. my fav of the night.) ---Break w/sounds and decaying face/skull animation, cuz why not? Disposition (mmmm...) Reflection (effective slight changes) Triad (w/Toma drummer, sure, now the audience likes him, right? so intense, m-nuts rocking out on guitar.) M-speech Lateralus (perfect ending, seemed to dumbfound the NJ ignorami.) Farewell hug, bum shot, and gifts for the crowd. I wont go into great detail about the visuals/effects/art displays. You could read another review or better yet wait til you see it. I will say that this particular tour greatly benefits those furthest back, with the clearest view of the entire stage. So be glad if you think you might have shit seats far away. Overall, moving as usual. no sufficient words to describe it, as usual. I met a very nice older man who was entertained by my involuntary animations (I had to warn him) and intrigued by our Tool adventures and not so brief but ever- so-necessary excursions. Thanks again, see you in Ma Ri Nh and if I have my druthers and a wallet, Ct. hi Jeff! (why dont you go ahead and post one too?) :)

The above setlist is correct except for the fact that, yeah, that "my shadow" song ... that IS 46&2. (They played 46&2, not H.) The sound in Sovereign Bank Arena was less than ideal, but it was Tool, so the show rocked. I was surprised to like Tomahawk so much after all the negativity I had seen on here. Mike Patton was awesome. If you thought he was a jerk or whatever, get a sense of humor. He sang with about 7 different mics, each one with a different effect. He had so much energy it was amazing, especially considering how Tomahawk has generally been received. Radio City up next.

Drove about 1 hr 15 min from NY to see the show, had g.a. floor, which I had for the Hammerstein show (5-20-01) and both shows at the Garden (10-1-01/10-2-01). There are the ups and downs to the floor though, I must say. Being that close to the greatest rock band of our generation would obviously be an up. Yet there is a problem with the meathead Metallica fans who come just to hear "aenima" and "schism" and don't really know why Tool does what they do so well. This became a problem after "sober", to which there was very little moshing. Once Tool kicked into "The Grudge", two circle pits broke out, one of which caused a fist-fight between two men, both about 25 years old and both well over 275 pounds. These guys were going punch for punch, swinging over the heads of smaller girls and boys. Me being the 17 year old Tool fan who was there for the music and not the moshing immediately threw my 6'3 225 lb frame onto the back of one the idiots to pull him off. Because of the extreme heat, I had already taken my shirt off. As I pulled the guy away, I looked to my chest, arms, and pants to see them covered in blood. I ran back to the security guard and before I could say anything his jaw dropped, and he rushed me to the first aid. Thankfully there were considerate enough people in this arena to take care of people like me (I guess that explains the $9.00 "convenience" charge). I missed the end of "the grudge" and the beginning of "stinkfist" and I still thought it was the second best show I had ever seen (Hammerstein will always be #1). Even though they had only played one song off of "Undertow", my favorite album, Tool knew they had absolutely brought the house down, because they were all hugs and smiles after the show. A word to the wise: be careful on the floor, there are too many Slipknot fans that think Tool is in the same category. Its pretty sad that I just used those two names in the same sentence....PS Adam was either tired or fucked up out of his mind because I've never seen him miss so many notes before in my Tool career. This was also sad because it was about a whopping 3 notes that he messed up on, which for most other guitarists, would be near perfection. Then again whos better than him? Nice to go last night to Radio City to which there was no moshing(see my review). Alright I've said enough, see you all on thursday. (Email with tapes or cd's of this show if possible thank you)

I won't be like everyone else and post the setlist. Its already there. Here are my thoughts on the concert... The show was so fucking awesome. When they played Sober the whole crowd errupted. The visual effects were amazing the images on the screen and the backdrop, so awesome. The best show since the one that I saw in Philly last year. The only problem that I had with the show were all the asshole fans, who were smoking the whole time. Besides that I had a great time watching the most amazing show. I can't wait until the next show comes around.

wow... the tool show, without a doubt the most beautiful and intense form of artistic presentations i have ever seen. much more visual animation ~ probably 75% more, some other awesome artwork called the sacred mirrors draped down above the band, 1000's of colored bulbs and floodlights throughout the arena and all of it perfectly synchronized with the music. the music ripped the roof right off of the place, they jam harder and with more energy and purpose than anyone i've ever seen play. and the croud was nice and loud and definately showed their appreciation. maynard told the croud "thank you for reminding us why we do this" and some other nice thoughts like he does, but i thought he didn't say as much as usual. anyone who has never been definately should get to one asap, everyone needs to experience tool at least once because there are no words to explain or recaputre what the audience witnesses during an evening with tool. i feel so completely cleansed, all negativity has been ripped out of me. 5 hours till i get up for work, its 2am we just got home, tool came on at 945 and played till about 11pm. Sober, The Grudge, Stinkfist, 46 & 2, Eon Blue Apocolypse, The Patient, Parabol with Parabola, Aenema... Intermission... Disposition, Reflection, Traid i think thats about how it was.... looking forward to more as akways. thanks adam, maynard,,danny and justin for being there, we are truly blessed when in your presence.

I have been a Tool fan for quite awhile and this was my first chance to get to see them. It was an amazing performance to say the least. Set List: Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46 and 2 Schism Parabol/Parabola Eon Blue Apocolypse The Patient Aenima --------- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus If you have a GA ticket i would advise not being too close to the front. Not only is the pushing extremely annoying, however you are unable to see the screens which add so much more to the show. Can't wait to see them again at Radio City Music Hall Spiral Out

I saw Tool the other night and I must say I was a little disappointed. First off, Tool picks the shittiest opening bands I have ever seen. Tomahawk blew ass and I saw them when Fantomas opened, what a fucking joke!! I don't want to see a bunch of guys making noise just for the hell of it. They opened with sober, which kicked ass, but the band just stands there the whole time. I wish Maynard would get off that goddam box, does he always do that. The songs are all good live, minus the endless repetition of some parts. Overall good, but not the most entertaining show I've been too.

Tool fucking rock. They are the best band around right now. This show was awsome. I don't remember the exact set list but it was amazing. I thought Tomahawk rocked also. The drummer for helmet is fucking bad ass. One of my favorite parts of the show was when He came out and played with Danny on Triad. Danny Carey has to be a machine. There is no way he is human. I loved the Alex Grey visuals. I highly suggest anyone who can to go see this show. Get there early and buy some cards and play some night time baseball while you wait. Wish I could have seen them at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. But work sucks but has to be done. Tool Fucking Rule. Later T. aka: maynord from toolband.com chat

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Didn’t get there in time for tomahawk, but the review I got from some dumb Jersey girl was a s follows: “They were that band that everyone was booing, right?” Right on Jersey! This is the Tool set list: flame eye intro to: Sober The Grudge - Ions Stinkfist (with extended segment and lyrics) 46and2 Schism (with intro and extended segment) Two-minute intro from the video of: Parable Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse (Extended) The Patient Ænima Intermission Disposition/Reflection/Triad (they jammed out so much on this one.) Positive speech Lateralus If you want to be surprised when you see them then just skip this review. The new intro can be easily explained as bass, with the workings of the very end of Merkaba that flow into Sober. The video screens showed the coloured version of the saw blade of eyes. From there it showed the flaming eye in the center until Tool got onto the stage. Jump to Sober: The crowd was all about it, as was I. I think it’s a great idea to have such a popular and pinnacle song as the opener, it shows that Tool doesn’t give a shit when it comes to the normal wait till the end to play the crowd pleaser gimmick that almost every band in the world does. The video screens played basically a Winamp AVS from hell. It looked like they had video of a whole lot of nails and they stuck the camera into them. The film was negative and there were a few cuts of two figures looking really scared. The Grudge was mind blowing live, Maynard pulled the 20 sec scream. Very sic. The crowd was also very into this one. In the begging they dropped the large black sheet they had covering the Alex Grey artwork. Very sic artwork, if you want them go to Alexgrey.com you can buy posters of them. The screens had the face from the begging of Dissectional.com having the camera coming out of his mouth and going into his eye. The face also showed its teeth at certain parts of the song and in one spot the tongue came out of its mouth to flow into a upside down version of the face and back into the original. There was also another shot of an eye clock with the hands of the clock being replaced by large Novocain needles. -Ions had Maynard asking Trenton if they were Trenton, pretty good crowd reaction. The screens showed the electric uhh, things… from the Stinkfist video. Stinkfist had an amazing crowd reaction, probably next to Ænima. The extended segment got a lot of drunken heads off guard when it happened. I could hear “I’LL KEEP DIG- oh shit.” From a lot of them, good stuff keeping them on their toes. The video screens showed a “Remix” of the Stinkfist video. 46 and 2 got a reaction but not as big as say Ænima or Stinkfist, maybe because it’s hard to remember songs that are never played on MTV when you’re drunk. Danny grabbed all the attention on this one. The video screens showed A Ouroboros eating itself till infinity, one of the best visuals in the entire show. Schism live blew the album version to hell, but that’s just because they can’t fit all this extra shit onto Lateralus when its already 79:58, oh well. Schism didn’t get the crowd reaction I thought it was going to, with all the poser Tool fans hearing this song on the radio and thinking hey I like this, that must mean I like all Tool right? Maybe they didn’t make it to the show due to the $50 tickets, a whole lot of babysitting to raise that in time. The Video screens showed these toothpaste/tadpole looking men interconnected walking into infinity for the most part. During the lyric “To rediscover communication” they showed one toothpaste/tadpole man all by himself (awww, he’s lonely.) They played the two-minute intro from the begging of the Parabola video into: Parable: which was just like it sounded from off the album. During both of these they had the begging of the video from the 2-minute intro playing in slow motion that met up with normal time when they reached Parabola: Amazing, simply amazing. I think they might of played the very begging of the song too fast though, when they ended the song the video kept on playing for about 10 or 15 seconds, not bad. They cut the video to when Parabola plays missing the entire “Apple” Scene. The Balloon ball things from the video popped up during the begging of the song due to some kind of air current and stayed up till the intermission. Eon Blue Apocalypse was almost worth being called a song live. Adam just jammed out on the strings for a while. Damn he’s good. I mean damn, their all sooo damn good. The Patient was amazing. I was so glad they played it at this show, for a while they weren’t playing it and I was getting worried. The red confetti/glitter/blood came down, but on the right side it seemed to get stuck and then halfway through the song a whole lot of it fell out at once. Eh, as long as it fell it still looked good. The video screens were playing a black/white gas during the begging and then later on it showed a naked guy (Maynard?) and a naked girl pretending they were animals. Pretty screwed up. Very well done. Ænima meant that every meathead in the place was happy, except for those few who were crying because there was no Opiate material. (Don’t get testy, I love that EP too, but if they don’t play anything from it, what are you going to do?) It sounded perfect and the crowd started to realize they were in a concert, not their grandmother’s house again. Everyone was going apeshit for this one. The video screens showed some video of a meteor coming through the sky for earth. The Intermission was basically video CGI of the Parabola single cover with a face in the center, by the end of the intermission the face was ripped of the face and a skull was doing a little dance kinda thing (it’s the best I can explain it, sorry) The sound on the other hand was a lot like the intro to the concert, BASS. Disposition/Reflection/Triad was the most amazing thing… ever. They jammed out on almost every single part they could it was long, amazing, and beautiful. The lighting rig was just like the seven-pointed star they dropped down in front of the new Alex Grey backdrop. They dropped the Sacred Mirrors. I’m pretty sure that 90% of the audience had no clue what to think of the trilogy (or triad if you will) of songs. No one moved, a lot of drunken heads looked bored, and a lot of people looked like as if they were lost. Oh well, so it went over the heads of the audience. So what! That was mind blowing. The video screens showed a group of people floating in the water, a wild variety of geometric sacred shapes, a rainbow coloured Tree of Life, the Salieval guy floating around like he does and an ending that looked like David Carson directed it. The positive speech was very nice, and well meaning. Too bad most of the people there were too stupid to listen to Maynard for the one minute that it meant the most. Oh well. Lateralus was perfect, everyone was into it. Yes, even the drunken heads. Everyone was spiraling out. The video screens showed an infinitely long vertebrae spiraling into a head without a face. Then later on it showed the brain with the red and yellow pill in it, and at the very end it showed the same AVS from hell from Sober. Nice way to end with the begging going into the end. The Good: Tool The Bad: Drunk heads who just don’t get the new album. New Jersey. People on this site who complain about smoking in AMERICA. (Come on guys, go check out some Bill Hicks CD’s.) The Ugly: Your Mom.

All i can say is WOW it will definitely be the best band i see live ever again. Any band that only has one guitarist and is able to sound that damn good is just amazing. I'm a drummer so seeing Danny Carey for the first time play live was a privilege for me because i love his drum work. Justin's bass lines still kick ass he plays that thing as if its a guitar and he makes himself heard because bass players are usually drowned out at other concerts. Maynard's voice was just the fucking best it doesn't get any better than that and they blew me away. TOOL IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!! Come back to the East Cost soon because i'm definitely going to see you guys again.

What an awesome fucking show! I've been a huge fan of TOOL for a while but have never been old enough to see them live. I finally got the chance and o my god it was worth the wait. Every song they did was fucking amazing. My personal fav. was Aenima. So much energy in that song. Opening with Sober was a big surprise, that got the crowd really pumped. No Opiate material. That was the only dissapointment. The extended Stinkfist was awesome. And what a way to end but with Lateralus. Maynard gave some words of encouragement, the band had a group hug, gave a bow, and tossed some goodies to the fans and that was it.

Hello fellow Tool fans: I think of myself as a tremendous Tool fan, dating back to the days of Undertow when they first began getting big. I truly began to understand their music in the past few years, especially the progression of the albums ; Opiate being the more straight-forward and direct (not to mention a bit angry) album...just the beginning ; Undertow dealing with the conceptions of drug abuse or any sort of addiction and how strong the "pull" of the addiction can be ; Æmima began to explore consciousness expansion and evolution of the mind and body ; Salival and Lateralus continuing on that idea and pushing it further. At least, that's how I view the band. Each and every time that I hear any Tool song, be it old or new, it sends shivers down my spine. I have seen them live a handful of times and just recently attended my fifth Tool concert. I must tell you, hands down, this was the most amazing show that I have ever witnessed-speaking of ANY concert not just Tool shows (note: I have been to approx. 50 or so shows in my lifetime). The acoustics in the building (Sovereign Bank Arena - Trenton, NJ) were very very well done, only a few times throughout the show did the instruments overkill Maynard's vocals. Beyond that the sound was crisp and clear, not to mention LOUD! The lighting effects and visuals were absolutely MINDBLOWING, the best ever for a concert I have personally attended. I saw Tool twice on their previous tour, once in Philadelphia and once in Wilkes-Barre, PA...both of those shows were amazing as well but I felt the visuals were a bit repetetive, not this time around, the two giant screens on both sides of the stage lit up intense visual messages to the audience, while at the same time allowing me to gain a new perspective on the songs that went along with them. The most impressive thing of all was probably the giant red face/spiral/eyeballs behind the band which kept on changing, and it was amazing to see the grey balls (two of them) from the Parabol/Parabola video live floating above the band. The intensity of the show moved my in so many ways that I cannot even describe it! I do not remember the setlist in it's exact order, but I will list it to the best of my ability, I can promise you that this is not a fake list (anyone who contributes a fake setlist is an ignorant moron), and it is a full one but as I said before, the order might be off a bit. Thank you once again, Maynard, Danny, Adam, and Justin for a life changing experience. Intro Sober The Grudge Fourty Six & 2 Schism Stinkfist Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Parabol Parabola Ænema (short break) Disposition Reflection Triad (with Mike Patton from Tomahawk) Lateralus *as a final note I'd like to mention that there was a fat, drunk hick screaming behind me "PLAY JERK-OFF" the whole time. Funny how the band would concider him the jerk-off. Try actually using your mind instead of following the herd, you fat bastard! Goodnight and goodbye.

Once again tool puts on the best live show around. As far as those who say tool is not for moshing i would like to know who makes these rules? if you feel like moshing then go head, if you feel like just moving to the music do that, if you feel like standing there doing nothing then gohead, its a big venue you dont have to mosh if you dont want to, the pit is a small section in a large arena. Those who say well the band doesnt like moshing well you people need to get out more often and focus on the music and not the band members personal preferences. Now back to the most important thing the show it kicked ass period.

I am posting this review after seeing the Aug 13 NYC show. The show in Trenton was not as good as the NYC which was awsome. I just didnt like the show in Trenton. Mabey it was the venue, the crowd, or the bands lack of energy. Also the levels of the sound sucked. Really loud and not clear. It just didnt come together for me. The show in NYC however was one of the best I've ever seen. Curious to know if anyone feels the same way. See you tonight at Continental Airlines Arena....

just a comment on the radio city show since they haven't posted reviews yet. maynard must have been painted by alex grey. he had a third eye on his upper forehead and a flaming eye on his back. completely outrageous. yes the sound was incredible, you could understand every word. i hate when people sing along though, it's rude. however i feel that trenton had the band at it's most powerful best, simply overwhelming. but i guess for sound quality you just can't beat radio city. tool even covered a ramones song on the second song before grudge. tool is always full of surprises! see you continental. i hope Maynard gets a fresh paint job. if anyone knows if alex grey did paint Maynard please let me know.. he (alex) was there at radio city. Well... I'm not going to write too much, because a lot has already been written for this concert. Tomahawk wasn't too bad, not really my type of music, but it was okay. Mike Patton was really funny though, a lot of Tool fans were booing Tomahawk, but Mike had a few things to say about that, just to continue to taunt them, and to keep the show entertaining. The funniest thing he said to the fans was something like this... "I know we suck, but you have to live here." That was great. And now for Tool.... the setlists are correct, a few are out of order but at least they have the right songs. Each song was amazing. Just a setlist doesn't justify how great each cong was played. Just about every song was a little different from the album versions. And i didn't think it was possible, but Triad was the best song played, it was longer, and played very well by everyone in the band, including the guy from Tomahawk. The visuals were great, and the lights were awesome. And i'm happy Maynard was very active during the whole concert. Danny, Adsm , and Justin seemed to have the songs perfectly played. And Adam and Justin didn't just stand there the whole time either. I forget what songs was being played, but Justin got really into it, he was stomping his foot really hard like Maynard does during a few songs, he seemed really active. I looked out over the crowd a few times, and most of them ere standing the whole time. Even the people with seats (like me). I wish i had the money to see them again, I would've went to the other NJ show, or even the NY show. ONE LAST THING...IF ANYONE RECORDED THIS SHOW, PLEASE EMAIL ME, I WANT THIS SHOW ON VHS, CD, OR EVEN DVD TO REMEMBER THE GREAT TIME I HAD... nin_tool@webtv.net >>>>>>>>>>INSIDE THE OUTSIDE<<<<<<<<< to everyone else, enjoy your show

My interface will not transfer setlist or other standard concert event information bits. For an excelent review scroll up to "Crack Smokers" sector. (very nicely detailed) I'm an intense human being, when I goto a show, reguardless of the genre, I like to get into the music. My physical movements are dance based, deeply synonymous with the melody and very tribal in a sense. I'm not out to hurt people. Physical movements should be interpreted as a spiritual transfer of vibes. Goto a good punk rock show if you're interested in the comunity based unity execution amongst fans involving agresive dancing. (FYI) Punching and kicking result in physical injury. Exert yourself, but remeber that we are all out to have fun. If someone at a show falls down, stop to help them up and make sure they are all right. Not only is this common courtesy, it represents the respect that we are all supposed to have for eachother. On more than one ocasion at this trenton show, I witnessed more than average sized men, destroying the likelyhood of much more petite, defenseless women. I remember one girl was casually dancing around, when suddenly she was smashed to the ground and trampled by an apathetic male. Thanks trenton, at least the guy who did it made no effort to help her at all. I myself was involved in the overall agresive participation. (although I didn't mutilate any petite women) Very early in the show a humans body was thrusted in my direction at a rate that can only be described as record breaking. The skull belonging to the human made contact with my left eyebrow so hard that it split my face open (boxer cut style) I was bleeding heavily and it wasn't pretty. I blame myself. Luckily at the time I was swinging on a spiral of my own diviinty. Posting your thoughts reguarding agresive dancing will not change anything.(I know mine wont) Also, there are no set rules involing strict etiquite about how you should or should not function at a tool show. Yes the music is deep and intilectual. Yes the music is often overwhelmingly powerful. That's why we (or some of us) love tool. When you place youself in a position of intense musical presence, combined with a variety of ametures (all shows have them, get used to it), cross sectionalized with more timid non-agressors, you result with disagreement and chaos. You may get hurt, so be forewarned. Just know that whatever happens is your fault, and your fault alone. If you run around in the street and get hit by a car, it's not the drivers fault. If you leave your bike unlocked and it gets stolen, it's your fault. enough said. One thing I do regret is not consuming any psychedelics or halucinigenic related drugs. In a completely sober state, I was blown away. If I were consciously opened I probably would have transmutated to a being of pure energy. I highly recomend you eat drugs for this holy event. Although I dont recomend drinking, not only will you become dehydrated and sloppy, but you end up supporting the assanine beer prices at stadium venues. Dont blame me if you bug out in an overstimulated frenzy. Thank you tool for one of the gratest concerts of my life. I will be back, hopefully you will tour philly which always seems to have an excelent fan base. If tool was this good in fucking jersey, then it can only be better anywhere else. Thanks for aenema, thatnks for reflection, thanks for triad. And thank you alex grey, keep consuming spoonfuls of acid and seeing whats really there. I'll see us all iin the eternal mind latice.

Ok...First off I have to say the Jersey is the fukin shitiest state in the history of shity states. that said Ill move on. The day started out nice enough, you know, I got out of bed, Thats always good. Then I started what turned out to be a six hour car ride to see Tool. And if your going to drive for six hours who better then tool right? The ride went smooth enough till we hit NYC. were we encountered every nasty smell on the face of the planet, we were also stuck behind some truck caryin 1000 year old ass. it wasnt plesent. so after NY. it was on to Jersey and its Infinite fucking trafic. 29 miles of trafic moving 5 miles an hour all the way to the arena. AT LAST WERE AT THE SOVRRRRwhat ever bank arena, In Trenton NJ. a place I dont feel I will ever go again. but I guess I can say that the arena is real nice. Its in a fukin dump of a city but it is a very good place to take in a show. Now at long last on to the show. We got into the place around 6:30 or so, Tomahawk came out at about 7:30. And let me just say that aside from all the boos(shame on you people, go out and buy the cd....its so worth it) they were great. It did help that Patton was throwing down Jersey insults but they still just fukin tour it up....good stuff. If you have the chance check them out before you see the show, im sure it will give you a better idea of what there all about. pure fun. Now as for Tool, I dont even really know were to start. I dont feel I need to post a setlist. Im sure you have read it all ready. The highlight for me would have had to be 46+2, It just blows my mind every time. I could watch them play that one song all day. triad, with the dude from Tomahawk and also I thing he was in Helmet also, was just so sick, it was very cool to see them that live. I would like to say that the visuals were awsome, wich for the most part they were, but you dont really get the full effect from the side of the stage, pray for a sit, center stage, and far away. best seat in the house for sure. It looked like that had a crazy back drop but I couldnt really get a good look at it. from what I saw it was amazing though. When the show ended I felt sadened, but only for about 2min, then I realized Ive got two more of these show to go. Ill see you all In Boston, and Manchester. Peace, Love, Dope..... I hope my review didnt suck to bad, I just kind of ramble, im good for that, you know rambling, and dont know why I do it I just do, I just go on and on and on and I never seem to stop..........I know Im not cool but nither are you geek....and never ever go to Jersey, and if you live there move out.....

This was this reviewer's 4th Tool show

First I have to say, To all the members of TOOL, I am extremelly sorry to hear abour the loss of your friend Mike! Now for the concert. Another great exeperiance. Kind of like the grand fanally of it all. It was my last show this tour and was another mind blowing experiance. I drove from Little Rock AR to NJ a couple weeks ago to visit family and to attend two TOOL shows there. After 19 hours of driving alone with two kids, I am beet. This whole year has been so compelete seeing TOOL three times this year and once last year. Saturday before the Baltimore MD concert, I had the chance to jump out of an Airplane at 13,500 feet, free fall till 5000 and than parachute down the rest of the way!!! Than go straight to the concert which was 2 hours away. That day was awsome. The Trenton concert I think hit me hard. When Maynard came out and said, "you guys remind us why we do this" was so awsome, it really shows that he feels the music each and ever time like we do. The set list was the same set list as I saw in Little Rock AR, but it never mattered what they play. Its the experiance that goes along with it. The visuals were a little differant than little rock, at least that is what I saw. I think they may change them around a little each show. The audiance was great, the best crowd I was with during my 4 TOOL experiances. Everyone seemed so into the music and just feeding off the energy of TOOL. I have come to realize something. We all know that TOOL has something, something they do to put us all in a differant state of mind. I think we all take that energy from TOOL and do something differant with it. I have met guys that mosh in the croud that are devoted TOOL fans, I met a black guy at one show that look like a getto bastard, but he was cool as shit and loved every one of there songs. I have seen Preps there, grundge, goth.. the list goes on. I walked up to this show about 30 minutes before the doors opened at gate B. Wearing my black and white striped shirt with my baggy shorts (a little more casiual than most people there), and my cousin there with me wearing about the same atire. As we sat aside waiting for the general admition people to get it, I can see people staring at us. Than turning and talking than looking back. On that note, I have never in my life !NEVER! Met someone (and I am sure there is) that is as devoted and into TOOL as my self. I live for two things, TOOL and my kids. It goes on forever why TOOL is so important to me, and that I wont explain. I am just trying to say, no matter what a person does during a show or looks like, they may be that TOOL fan you dont think they are. The ones that get to me are them damn Fratt drunk boys acting like asses, but I have already commented on them during my Baltimore MD show... HTTP://HOMETOWN.AOL.COM/TOOLBAND26/MYHOMEPAGE/P HOTO.HTML <---- Picture of my TOOL TATTOO youll have to type it in,, cant copy and paist... I have learned a lot during these past 4 shows about my self, TOOL, TOOL fans (some are very disrespectful, expecually booing Tamahawk) and shitty fratt boys. I feel better about a lot, I feel I have a better understanding for TOOL, my self and life in general. I get a lot out of there music, but its a totally differant experiance being there with them, live, hearing Maynard speek and seeing him move to the music the way he does, watching them perform, going into a trance watching the visuals and watching Danny hit them drums expecually during Traid and 46&2. I cant say what my highlights of my experiance was, I think it would have to be my first show in Memphis TN when they started into PUSHIT and than OPIATE. I have also learned to look at the song Laturalus differantlly, it is the most amazing song live. To say the least THANK YOU SO MUCH TOOL for being who you are and doing what you do. You have impacted my life tremendislly. To all that read this, thanks for taking the time and sorry I can not spell worth a shit!!!! Until next time and I really look forward to it!! Mike

This show was absolutely amazing! There is a long story about what happened to me and my friends. First we all had a big fight because one friend owed money for his ticket and then three of our tickets went through the wash the day before the concert. We had to call ticket master and the day of the concert we were given these little paper passes then we had to wait for 2 hours in the parking lot for the rest of my friends to show up so we could give them their tickets. We had sat in traffic and it took us almost three hours to get from the Bronx to Trenton. Me and my boyfriend were so angry by the time we finally entered the show that we thought we had gone through way to much trouble to come to the concert. But we were proved wrong. Tool put on such an amazing show that made all the stress worth it. They opened with Sober which was a perfect song to open with. Every song they played sounded great and when they played Lateralis I was going crazy! I love that song. At the end of the night Maynard said that he hoped we would go home inspired and healed and that we were! Thankyou to Tool for being so great.

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

I won't be a broken record with the setlist, except for to say while I love the new album, I was elated to hear some of the older tunes. Tomahawk rawked. I was droolin over Mike Patton. One question, was that an infra-red theremin he was playin? Nothin sexier than a man playin the theremin. yum. Anyway back to tool. Instead of repeating other reviews I'll just give ya some of me & my friend's own personal highlights. This girl (yes there WERE girls there!) next to us kept yellin, 'Manyard, manyard. I love you Manyard!' Hehee. She loved him so much she forgot how to pronounce his name. Well I guess maybe she was just speaking in tongues. A perfectly understandable thing for someone to do at a tool show. This was my first time seein the boys while I was sober, I wanted to remember every last bit, and it was just as much sacred ritual and religious experience as the first 2 times I saw them. Like a strange sonic soul cleansing. Who says meditation has to be quiet? I doubt they'll be reading this but just in case, I just want to thank them for bringing such gorgeous art into my life and into the world I live in. Music that so vividly reflects different aspects of the human soul, it's startling. It got me through some dark times, and I still love and appreciate their music now that I've evolved. Thanks guys. Bless you and yr families. To end the show, the guys hugged and then threw their water bottles into the crowd. Maynard then quickly ran off stage. One of Justin Chancellor's bottles was caught by a guy standin next to us and he poured some of the water into our mouths and over our heads. I couldn't ask for a better bday present. p.s. alex grey and tool's work, what could compliment each other better? i'd be interested to know what kind of involvement, if any, tool has in the creation of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors. peace

Great show. Tomahawk was goofy.. tool kicked butt from my seat in the 1st level directly across from the stage I was able to take in every aspect of the show.. The lights, visuals and sounds were amazing.. They have come a long way from when I saw them at Lollapalooza in 93. Cant wait to see them again... Maybe next time I will get to meet Kabir like at the Asbury Park show! Come on Kabir get out of LA and come home to PA!!!

The set list was already posted so we won't bore you and post it again. We can discribe the concert in two words.... fuckin' amazing. The set was awesome the band was awesome. The effects on the screen and the backdrop were amazing. There are no other words for it. When the played sober I couldn't believe it. Me and my boyfriend had a great time. I want to say thank you to Tool for putting on a great show since the last one that we saw in Philly. We can't wait until the next show.

This was this reviewer's 2 Tool show

Well this was my second concert and just like the first one it kick ass. my Day started right , when my alarm went off a local radio station already had to Tool on the radio i knew then that this was a Tool fans like my self that is addicted to them and their sound It was our day. i picked my fellow true fans and we were off to the show. IN my mind the only part that had me shaken was the site of people there that should have never went. Like this one dude i was talking to never herd of them and said it sucked!!. Well lets just say I gave the full throtle of what tool is about for a good 20 minutes before the show and i'll tell u after the inspiration at the end of the show he loved it. I won't put a set list on because its already been done. Tomahawk was ok in my point of view . But Really wasent paying them my friends or anyone any attenion. My soul was waiting for the moment to here any sound telling me they were near. when the time came i felt as if i was in a trance , which i always do when i hear Tool, but since i was back at a concert again it magnafies it , with the feel of the people and the sound of their great mindblowing sounds. once started the ruch of being there had me moving BUT NOT MOSHING to the sound of them through out the show. At the end i was at a pause to say that i was overjoyed and yet felt some part of sorrow because it was over then i thought to me self i'll be back. And i took the Advice of Maynard and did something positve i got my girlfriend back. and that was the show i went home fell asleep and the next morning reflected on my expirence. "I want you to take the feeling you have right now - whether it's good, bad, or indifferent -, and in the coming weeks, I want you to do something positive with it."

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. for real yo! I just have to make something clear with almost everyone who thinks tomahawk is a shitty band. I'd like to give a BIG fuck you to the "bo-ers" at the shows. Do you even know who is in this band? Mike Patton. Okay we know who this is, but he is STILL the best vocalist ever!!! Knowonw will ever sound like him. He teases the audience, but everyone taked it so personally. It's a show Jerk -offs!!! In Faith No More. The best lyrics and his vocal range is amazing... The drummer John Strainer used to drum for HELMET. Doesn't anyone know this?????????????????????????????????????????? It so pisses me off that when people review they say "that guy" from tomahawk... Strainer is my life long idol and HELMET has changed my life deeply. I still say that they are the best band ... One of the most creative and original drummer. Duane Denson was the guitarist for THE JESUS LIZARD!!!! listen to the album LIAR... one will see that this guy is a genius... And the bassist was the bassist for THE MELVINS one of the longest running grunge/metal band... Please know who you are gonna rip...

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Seeing TOOL was everything I had imagined and more! Aside from the six foot, 250lb. roid-ragers, and the occaisional drunk throwing up at your feet, Maynard and his cronies know how to put on an excellent show that extends the awesome emotional experience that one feels when listening to their albums. Their stellar sonic prowess is impeccable, and the sheer energy of their performance is uplifting both spiritually and physically. If ever I have felt good about spending $43, it was on August 12, 2002. TOOL RULES! P.S. I would like to personally like to thank all those responsible for allowing me (a 5' 2", 110lb. little dude, and a first-timer at a TOOL show) to crowd surf to the front row so that I could enjoy this show with a great view!
