This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

2nd show in 3 days and well worth the repeat viewing...I'm gonna try to remember the order: A ramones cover (not sure the song but awesome nonetheless) Sober Grudge Stinkfist (an extended version with like 2 minutes extra stuff in it) 46 & 2 Aeon Blue apocalypse the patient Opiate (there is a god) parabol parabola -break- disposition reflection triad ( somehow this performance was even better then the last show , absolutely amazing) Lateralus I am still kind of in awe right now so I may have messed up on the order a bit but i think i got it. This show was abolutely amazing, the extra verse in stinkfist the ramones cover, where do you even start. ..People actually cheered for Tomahawk tonight and he barely cracked jokes bout jersey (except for his wearing of a lakers jersey to rub in the nets losses) nd I think overall the positive energy in the crowd tonight made maynard extremely open to the audience. Before Lateralus he was standing center stage and actually talking alot to the crowd, and for the start of lateralus he was standing straight up face the crowd and belting his soul out at us. I could go on and on right now about this show but I'll stop here only so I can go reflect some more now on the awesome spectacle I just witnessed. TOOL+GODS!!!

This was this reviewer's 5th Tool show

I saw Tool the other night in Trenton, so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. In general, I was a little disappointed because the setlist was almost identical -- I believe the the only difference from Trenton was the inclusion of the Ramones cover and Opiate and perhaps at the expense of at least Aenima. Opiate was great -- it really got a lot of people really into it -- I was so psyched because I was almost certain that would mean Flood was next -- but that wasn't the case. I wish they would've played ThirdEye instead of the 15 min (approx.) version of Triad. Don't get me wrong, it's great but it takes up so much time. I don't mean to gripe so much but it used to be that no two Tool shows were alike and that's just not the case anymore. It's just amazing watching Danny -- he's so damn good. Justin moved a reasonably amount again -- just like in Trenton, but Adam was his usual self. Not that I want them to "rock-out", I just want them to do whatever makes them continue to produce this magic. Maynard was on his platform again, moving around quite a lot. I noticed during Lateralus that Maynard's platform was not "spiraling out" like it was supposed to -- he pointed down to it a few times in a somewhat angry way and then walked over to the sound area to say something but it did not seem to work -- so, Maynard improvised and did a simulated spiral by slowing side-stepping his feet. It seemed like the guys in 107 row 26 were trying to memorize the setlist - perhaps they'll post it. Speaking of section 107, there was this guy in row 15 (just a guess) that was moving during Triad like noone I've ever seen -- most people just stood there wondering what they're supposed to do during a song like that but not this guy -- good for him. Enjoy your show, Marc H. Strother

Well begin with Tomahawk. One set of words sums it all up. Pattan: So are you all sick of our shit? Croud in near unison: YEAH Now. TOOL. Took the stage. They played a shorter song which we missed the tital of. Then. SOBER. the atmosphere was at its height during thes few minutes. Amazing show. Lateralus was a perfect ending to a perfect TOOL show. All I could have asked for was Ænemia or Jerkoff. Swing on the Spirals.

This show was better than I could have ever expected. It was more of an experience than a concert really. I drove out from Long Island and got there in time to hear Tamahawk. I have to say, these guys sounded different, but it was rock and by there last song, they asked the crowd straight out if we were sick of their shit. They played one more and got off. Wasn't THAT bad. Tool's stage setup is always interesting. Danny was not quite in the back, and was playing more towards the side/front. Maynard had his own little space behind everyone, where he was soon only in black underwear dancing around while he sang. As far as sound quality goes, they sounded great. With two huge monitors located on each side of the stage, every song was played in sync with the videos/lights and so on to the extent of amazing. They were very tight in that way. Definately the best stage show I've ever seen.

Tomahawk was entertaining. Dressed as a cop, Patton delivered a solid set watched by his "Roman Centurian Guards," two fat, hairy, middle-aged men in diapers with giant safety pins dancing to Tomahawk's noise. Tool of course was great. They opened with 2 minutes of what sounded like a cover, but it went over my head. After that [to the best of my memory]: Sober The Grudge Stinkfist 46&2 Schism Parabol Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Opiate [short break] Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus No Aenima or Pushit, and we didn't get H. like Radio City on Tuesday, but they did play Opiate and The Patient. Maynard opened in leather, then stripped down to rather small black briefs. No surprise there. The painted facial stripe was a nice touch. Maynard held a guitar for Schism & Triad, but he didn't do much playing. Danny Carey and "the grandson of the fourth pep boy...who got fired" opened Triad with an amazing drum break. Danny also made some noise with Tomahawk, while Adam watched from behind a plastic deer with a microphone. Maynard didn't say much, although he teased with "think for yourself, question authority" before starting Opiate. Danny was playing a new set (with the same old Simmons electronics, of course). The kit appears to be an 8-piece Tama Steel Shell.

Show's been over for two hours and I'm sore already. You guys in the pit kicked my butt. >.< I'm just a gurl, but it's what I get for standing there. (nowhere I'd rather be) The guys were great, even with the minor slip ups. They are human afterall and been on the road for over a year. The never cease to take me to a special place where only I exsist with the experience that is Tool. Thank you for thanking us. * dude in the grey "shoot out" T-shirt in the big pit.... you are super hot. thanks for the eyecandy.

Okay, first off, i want to make this known as our very lives depend upon the dissemination of truth. Tomahawk sucked. The only good thing about their set was that it ENDED. that said, the rest of the night was, to put it lightly, amazing. The Setlist: (And i wrote it between songs, so it's accurate) Begin Time: 8:47 PM Ramones (?) cover Sober The Grudge (-) Ions --- (*1) Stinkfist ~ Extended Forty-six & 2 --- (*2) Schism --- (*3) Parabol/Parabola --- (*4) Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient --- (*5) Opiate ----- Break ----- Disposition Reflection Triad --- (*6) Lateralus Group Hug *1 - Over (-) Ions, Maynard asked "It this New Jersey? Or is New York? New Jersey, New York???" Then blasted into Stinkfist *2 - The drumming on Forty-six & 2 was phenomenal (thank you Danny!) *3 - MJK had a guitar for Schism as well as parts of D/R/T *4 - MJK stripped before Parabol/Parabola from a full leather body suit to his black speedo with a stripe painted down his head. During the song and then until the intermission, two balloon spheres like the ones in the video were suspended on air jets behind the band. After the song, Maynard thanked us for being there and for making them believe in the choices they had made *5 - Between Patient and Opiate, Maynard began to recite the Timothy Leary sample from Salival "Think for youself, question authority" then they went into Opiate. *6 - D/R/T were all extended and very intense. Frank and Vince from Tomahawk came out for Triad, and with MJK on guitar, they blasted the whole fucking place apart. After the song was over, Maynard said something similar to: "Thank you to Frank and Vince. Frank is the grandson of one of the original four Pep Boys, the one who got fired. And Vince was named employee of the month for July 2001 at the Riverside Wal-Mart in Riverside, CA. Congradulations, Vince! ... Now we'd like to thank you for experiencing this moment with us. We hope you'll take this home with you and use this experience to create something positive in your own lives in the coming weeks, the coming months, and the coming years...." The crowd was intense and really into it the whole show. During Reflection I felt like we were all, all 15,000 of us being connected to one another psychically and spiritually, not to mention that i also felt like I might just start to fly away! To any who have never seen Tool, the best I can sum up their concert is thus: You will not see four musicians and simply hear their work. You will experience the music and the moment and, if you're ready and only if you want it to, it can change your life in a positive, enlightening and uplifting way.

AMAZING!...i was at the show last october at msg and this one nearly blew it away. Despite the signifigance of them playing in NYC so soon after 9/11, tonights show surpassed that one. The lights were awesome(very pink floydish), the sound was awesome...they were incredible. I was also very pleased with the fact that Maynard did not stay hidden in a shadow.....i was somewhat upset with that last time, but this show he was alot more visable. The intermission was also not as drawn out as it was at msg...all in all it was an incredible show and i cant wait for them to come around again...

Hello my children, This is Chris' review of the East Rutherford Tool "Inside the Outside" Tour concert. What can I say initially? After arriving with my parents (at the tender age of 15, after having my tickets stolen by thieves) I was escorted to the ticket office, in which I got a voucher for my sub-par "obstructed view" seats...at least what I assumed to be obstucted. When someone makes mention of obstructed, I naturally assume they mean "impossible to see." Well, this was not the case and I ended up getting to my seat with my friend, who also shares my love for the band. After purchasing the immensely popular "tour" shirt (for a hefty 30 dollars) and picking up some refreshments...(which might I add were also sub-par) I arrived in section 216, upper tier. After several encounters with people the audience labeled "jerk-off's" (no pun intended, my fellow hardcore 'Opiate' fans) as well as one man evading capture by the local 'authorities' (if thats what you can really call them) sneeking in ever-so illegal Ecstasy in. I, myself, when going to a concert feel the atmosphere should be mostly music loving, veering from substances (you would assume this with a bunch of spikey-haired and black cloaked people) so when to me the air is almost as lethal to the point of Mezazoic extintion, I do get fairly angry. Getting back to the show.... ~~Tomahawk:: 8:00 PM~~ Wow...Tomahawk. What can I say. My friend described the band with a simple "suck" while I took the time to actually here them out, and to see if their message (if any) was worth my precious time. This plan worked, for about 20 minutes. The screeching electronic buzz of distortion pedals and processors, with nearly undeciperable lyrics (AKA: SCREAMING) did the trick for me, being somewhat of a effect fanatic, but to my friend, this was utter crap. He also described them as "worse than Faith No More" and lacking any talent. I, on the underhand, attempted one last time to get into them, after all, I wanted to at least wear my Tour t- shirt proud, without fear of critisizm from my pears for wearing a good t-shirt with a "blemish" on it, such as the word, Tomahawk. Well, that worked...until the vocalist announced he had a "suprise" and ripped off his musty shirt to reveal a Los Angeles Lakers jersey (which for a lack of better words PISSED OFF the crowd) siting that the Nets hadn't beaten the Lakers in a very long time (I believed the words he used were...yeah...what has it been New Jersey? A Threepeat? No, A fourpeat." Well, he got his. Practically all of the member of the crowd booed their rears off stage as they finished the set with a melow tune-a-ma-bob...In the end, he 'thanked' the crowd and announced Tool were next..wow...lionhearted after all....knowing defeat and accepting it. This lead to the long pause in stage setup, otherwise known as "intermission" After the band left, the crew prepared ever so carelessly to set up the hellish cadavre of Tool's main stage. I personally could tell it was a mediocre job when I could hear the generic "Hello, Hello, 1 2, 1 2" of a machine used to test the voice I had already seen at a System Of A Down concert...but that's another story, I'm sure you all wouldn't care about Serj's antics....And then there was Tool. :::Tool, 9:00 PM::: Noises crept from all over the stage as the blistering ear pierce known as feedback relayed over the PA. Then, one silohette emerged...the bassist, who did his thing, he checked his pedals and left stage. This was accompanied with the return of two silohettes, himself and Adam, the guitarist. After reading the instruments, the drummer followed, then finally, after the house lights were lowered, that familiar screeching came in as Maynard stood opon a platformed Video screen, in his traditional pose (hunched over fetal position, clasping the Mic) as the concert began. The night kicked off with (at least to me) and unrecognizable jam knowing full well it was Triad (thanks Toolshed, thats how I know the name!) Now, this part was an asshole thing of a crowd member to do. This Jerk-Off threw a fuckin' bottle at the bassist, which left us stunned, but left him unafflicted, utilizing all of his professionalism. Followed by this song, the ever popppppular hit "Sober" roared over as I, with maybe 1000 others sung the chorus. Following this was possibly Stinkfist (pardon me if I don't know the exact list, my primary concert was to listen, not take notes) followed by Schism,Forty Six and Two, Third Eye, Parabol/a, The Patient, the ever-needed Intermission (WITHOUT THE ACTUAL FUCKING AENIMA SONG ACCOMPANING IT!) because of the fact my COLON WAS GOING TO EXPLODE, I returned to hear Opiate, the awkard 20 minute monstrousity known as Triad with two guest performers, and finally Lateralus. Over all a good night....with the Outside The Inside tour in rememberance for my first Tool/Alternative concert, ever. With that, three things.... Terrorist's Demands: 1. Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello special guest guitarist for "Cold And Ugly" 2. Less assholes smoking (anything) at concerts 3. The rememberance of Drowning Pools frontman, who entertained me for a year in my "I'm cooler than Korn, but still dig Slipknot" phase. You will be truly remembered, just as Lou Bega is...and please, don't take that offensively, God. THIS HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO YOU BY: -The Pagemaster, Everlasting Gobstopper,Wanting The Second Rage man. and Chris.

(Some Ramones Cover) Sober The Grudge Stinkfist w/ extended bridge 46&2 Schism Parabol Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Opiate Intermission Disposition Reflection Triad (very extended/jammed, w/ guys from Tomahawk) Lateralus by the way, Tomahawk would be half decent if Mike Patton didnt absolutely chug mad ass-cock... anyway, tool was, of course, excellent... until next time.... deuce

I've now seen Tool twice in a year (MSG, show number one), and they are one of the best bands on earth. I love this band more everytime I see them. Now, getting down to business. The first half of this show was brilliant, sober, stinkfist, 46 & 2, schism, parabol/parabola, opiate, the grudge, all great songs. I love Lateralus, but they basically played the entire album tonight, with the exception of Ticks & Leeches, and I would have liked more variety. I mean, at the Garden they played aenima, undertow, eulogy, pushit, the setlist was amazing. Yeah, they didn't play opiate and stinkfist, but it was a better balance, and the show ended with triad, pushit, aenema and lateralus, I mean how much better can it get than that (well, unless they played Prison Sex, which I get the feeling they don't, LOL.). But what am I nitpicking about. This is a great band and everyone should see them, just for their musicianship. But, if you're a fan of Tool and haven't seen them, get off your ass and go, it's worth the forty bucks.

Tool are the best live band i have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Danny Carey approaches divinty on the drums. Adam Jones is a creative genius, as evidenced by his choice of effects, as well as by the INSANE artwork and visuals (including part of the parabola video). Justin chancellor was extremely solid as a bassist. Maynard moves and express himself verbally (sing doesnt quite define his performance) like no other being. Lets begin with not only a horrible band, but a horrible opening too. Tomahawk fucking suck horsecock. yes, horsecock, they were that bad. the drummer was competant at best, the bassist was kinda moving spazzily, and the guitarist may or may not have popped a string. The vocalist (i believe his name is mike) was an annoying asscaptain. He struck me as what Bugs Bunny would be like if he were human, and a complete asshole. He actually tauented the Jersey crowd about the Nets sucking or something. Allow me to vent here. This is a TOOL show, we are not here to debate basketball. Nobody fucking cares about the Lakers, nobody fucking cares about the Nets. He can't really sing well either. About the only cool thing that happend during the set was the appearance of Danny Carey in what may have been an attempt to save a horseshit performance. The good part - Tool. Everybody is in position, the music begins to flow. This mysterious Ramones cover that no one seems to know the title of opened the set. It was fun, energentic, and got everyone on their feet. Sober: Great song, catchy chorus (lots of ppl sang along), and it was cool to hear some older tool. Grudge: Fucking nuts, a nice contrast between heavier and more progressive tool. Stinkfist: once again great song, i believe it was extended at one point at another, because i as really into it and i couldnt remember it being this long. 46 & 2: Brought the house down, the first song played that had everyone either moving kinda odd or headbanging or doing something expressive. Schism: everybody knew the words, so it was one gigantic singalong, which kind of furtherd the feeling on being there. seeing tool. LIVE!. Anyhoo schism is really a beast, and as good as it is on the album or cropped(grrrrrr) on the radio, it is 100 X better live. I could feel Danny's floor toms and bass in my chest during the part leading back in from the interlude. Parabol: well you cant play this without playing Parabola: Holy Shit!!!!! let me start by telling you that in my opinion this was the second best performance of the night. solid song. Danny ascends to demigod. Adam doesnt slip or mute or fuck up in any way, and justin is still keeping everything really solid. Maynard is clear and did some of his best "dancing" during this song. as much of a wakeup call as there can be after parabol. by the way, i couldnt see the monitors from where i was sitting at the time, but my friend tells me that scenes from the parabola video were on the monitors. Eon Blue Apocalypse: one of the spacy effects types off of lateralus and i guess had the objective of letting everybody rest., as well as bringing the crowd down from parabola. The Patient: Nuts drumming, as if Danny's mini-solo inside grudge wasnt enough of a display of his talents, and if parabola didnt show his ability to do incredible things within measures, the patient assures his demigod like status. another big player from lateralus, adam uses some cool effects. Opiate: at this point Maynard mentioned something about thinking for yourself, and the fans of old tool went wild. i had never heard opiate before, and to hear it live is the best way i can think of to unviginalize my ears. Great stuff, ill have to check out more from the EP. Intermission period: at this point i retreated to join my friends in section 238. The next set, as my friend pointed out to me beforehand, was Dispositon: a surprisingly agressive comeback from an intermission. Reflection : a favorite of two friends and a showcase of more amazing drumming (check those tom fills) Triad: Trancey REALLY long song that i enjoyed due to the fact that it started a bunch of ppl moving around free like. in fact, three rows in front of us was a couple who seemed to let the music move them, looking like freaks but having a great time. Lateralus: the greatest performance of the night. an insane closer, made all the better by intense visuals, and Maynard really getting into it, i think he got off his platform and jumped around on stage for awhile. this was just a mindblowing end to a great concert. The end: Tool are nuts live, hope to see them again really soon. Dont even recognize the existence of tomahawk.

My apologies for confusing the Trenton setlist under the Radio City review. I must have hit a wrong button or something. Anyway, tonight's Tool show at Continental was pretty impressive. Opening with that same Ramone's cover that they play in Radio City was special. I appreciated it. Opiate was a treat as well tonight. I do have to make one tiny complaint though. As great and mighty as Tool's message is, how do some people get the idea to mosh to this message? Seriously dudes, I mean two people got into a fight in one of the "pits". Pretty damn lame. Anyway, my placement at the show was about 10-20 feet from the front of the stage. Every movement and motion was observed fromt he band. Maynard even strapped on a guitar for Schism, Disposition, Reflection, and Triad. All in all, a wonderful show. Setlist as follows: 1) Ramones Cover 2) Sober 3) The Grudge 4) Stinkfist 5) 46 & 2 6) Schism 7) Parabol 8) Parabola 9) Opiate 10) The Patient 11) Disposition 12) Reflection 13) Triad 14) Lateralus Great show. Looking forward to seeing them for a 4th and final time on this tour on August 20th in New Haven, CT. Everyone enjoy.

I WOULD JUST LIKE TO STATE THE FACT THAT TOMAHAWK ROCKS!!! I WAS AT THE SHOW LAST NIGHT AND THEY RULED THE STAGE!!! ALL YOU IDIOTS THAT SEEM TO ENJOY DICING UP TOMAHAWK AND MIKE PATTON SHOULD HAVE YOUR HEADS EXAMINED! IF YOU DIDNT KNOW ALREADY, MAYNARD WORSHIPS MIKE PATTON, AND TOTALLY LOOKS UP TO HIM! THEY ARE GREAT FRIENDS AND AT LEAST THE LEAD SINGER OF YOUR FAV. BAND SEEMS TO KNOW WHATS GOING ON, BECAUSE YOU GUYS BASHING TOMAHAWK AND MIKE PATTON SURE DONT! PATTONS ALL OVER THE STAGE WITH COMPREHENSIVE MOVES THAT ONLY HE COULD PULL OFF. I DONT SEE MIKE STANDING IN THE BACK OF THE STAGE WITH A DIM LIGHT ON HIM. THATS OBVIOUSLY HOW TOOL WANTS THEIR STAGE TO BE, BUT PERSONALLY THAT JUST DOESNT DO IT FOR ME. YOU WANT ACTION....GO SEE PATTON, HE'LL DO THE TRICK! THE REASON PATTON DICES THE FANS LEFT AND RIGHT IS BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO RESPECT FOR MUSIC. THE GUYS UP THERE DOING HIS JOB TO ENTERTAIN THE FANS AND YOU PEOPLE HAVE THE AUDASITY TO BOO HIM? IF IT WASNT FOR FAITH NO MORE AND PATTON, YOU GUYS WOULDNT HAVE YOUR PRECIOUS KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, PAPA ROACH AND LINKIN PARK TO LOOK UP TO! AS SHITTY AS THOSE BANDS ARE, THEY AT LEAST KNOW THAT PATTON ROCKS AND PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING HE DOES MUSICALLY ROCKS AS WELL!!! ALL I ASK IS FOR MORE RESPECT FOR TOMAHAWK. DONT BOO THEM, SHOW SOME CLASS. TOMAHAWK FANS LIKE MYSELF WOULD NEVER BOO TOOL. TOOL IS A GREAT BAND AND THEY BROUGHT TOMAHAWK ALONG TO SHOW SUPPORT, SO DO AS TOOL IS DOING, SHOW SOME CLASS!!!!! well there was more involved with the show that the previous Tool shows that i've seen. there was a great looking back drop, cool light effects, and floating tomurs. the show looked great, there's no denying that. Tool of course sounded great as is expected. but the setlist left much to be desired. 1 cover song, 1 song from Opiate, 1 from Undertow, 2 from AEnima, and the rest from Lateralus. they played everything but Ticks and Leeches. don't get me wrong i love Lateralus but i love the other albums as well and would have preferred to have heard a little more from them. this show was almost the same show they played when i last saw them just with a few new things to look at. i was just hoping for a little more from them. i'm going to see them again in Buffalo, hopefully i'll be able to catch the variation that they're doing this tour and hear h., 3rd eye, etc...

Great Show, I'm going to Manchester and New Haven as well... Here's hoping they continue to juggle the setlist. First of all... If you weren't into FNM (I definately was) then you're probably not going to get Tomahawk... They're not doing it to make money or inspire you, they're doing it cause they like to. Not every band has to play radio friendly ditties or sing alongs... Second of all... For the two tools (no pun intended) who A. hit Justin with a beer during the Ramones cover and B. was tossing beers from section 235 into the lower level... I hope you choke... Finally, a great show by the band... Maynard was more talktative then the first show I saw them at (last fall), The 3 hour drive was definately worth it, my nephew had never seen them before and really got into it. Like I tell everybody I know, everyone should see Tool at least once in their life.

This was this reviewer's 6th Tool show

YES!!! After reading every fan review on this site for the past month, getting myself more and more psyched to experience this tour myself, finally Tool rolled their "Inside the Outside" tour into town, and my girlfriend and I were primed to go! I have not read others' reviews for this show yet, but I see the setlist is posted. So I will just offer my own points. TOMAHAWK: I've had the CD since it came out, because I've enjoyed much of Mike Patton's work (not to mention John Stanier's drumming with Helmet). IMO, Tomahawk is neither as catchy nor compelling as Faith No More, but they are still a quality band. I totally enjoyed their set, which rocked and concluded with the cover of Chet Baker's "Angel Eyes." Patton loves to throw these old crooner's tunes into his set to throw everyone for a loop, and I think it's hilarious! Only 2000-3000 people were in the arena to start, many of them Tomahawk fans I presume, and they offered polite applause. However, as more Tool fans began to fill out the arena, the chants of "You suck!" after each song began to increase, once again demonstrating that not every Tool fan is as enlightened as the band would like them to be. I'll offer a personal story: ten years ago, when seeing Primus, a band called the Cows opened. I thought their music was just awful. (Amusingly enough, there is a link between the Cows and Tomahawk, as bassist Kevin Rutmanis served time in both.) I gave the band the finger, and the singer, who was in the process of peeling a banana sticking out of his unzipped fly in some kind of base innuendo, chucked the fruit at me and hit me on my shirt. You know what? I deserved it. That was pretty funny, and I learned a lesson that night: THERE'S NO PLACE FOR CONCERTGOERS TO BE RUDE TO PERFORMING ARTISTS. These bands, as many have noted, come out at the invitation of the headliner, so by being disrespectful to them you do the same to Primus or Tool. And it's more than likely that you have no talent to speak of to stand in front of a crowd on a stage and perform. So SHUT THE FUCK UP and be polite. Go drink some more somewhere else, or wait peaceably until they leave the stage. Anyway, some kids behind me were yelling that Patton was "washed up" — please. The man has more creativity in his pinky finger than you mind-controlled zombies who can only approve what's heard on mainstream radio. The police uniforms — great get-up. If I saw Patton approaching me on the street in those clothes and didn't know who he was, I'd be fucking scared. The "sexual warriors" were a nice touch. No concert is truly complete without two men of enormous girth wearing Depends (and a jockstrap, a presume from the bulge, like the song?) on either side of the stage, waving their arms in a Chris Farley-like attempt at dancing. The microphone stand pointed at Buck's mouth (the standing deer backdrop) also got me to laugh. I don't know what people are complaining about feedback for. There was nary a peep from the speakers that I heard. On the contrary, all of Patton's wild whoops in the police CB and the gas mask created awesome vocal effects. Also, I enjoyed when he removed his shirt (heh) to reveal a Kobe Bryant LA Lakers jersey. He taunted the crowd, which was expected since he did the same thing in Sacramento (also Finals victims of LA this year, for those who don't know basketball). I'm a huge Nets fan and had tickets to playoff games in this same venue, but wasn't offended in the least. Some seem to take it personally. It's just a joke. Detach yourself from what is said and enjoy it for the humorous ribbing that it was. Also, no one seemed to notice the member of Tool join the band for their interesting, trippy mid-set noise composition. I couldn't quite tell if it was Danny from the angle of my high seat, but his contribution was appreciated. I think that's enough about Tomahawk. They did well for 40 minutes. You'll enjoy the tunes better if you get the CD and look up the lyrics on the Net. Open your mind. Fun opener! My girlfriend and I decided to move to the top row in the very back of the arena, which had a much better view of the video screens that our seats at the left side of the stage eclipsed. The place was just about sold out, but we took advantage of the few seats that were available. It was easy to give up our nice overlooking view of Maynard and the band, since we'd brought binoculars. These helped us focus on Danny's brilliant drumming and Maynard's writhing — pure delight. 40 minutes later... TOOL! After a beginning that hung on a couple of trippy notes that increased the tension, the band dropped what should have been the intro to "Sober" and surprised everyone by playing a punk cover song! It was the Ramones, apparently (I'm not too familiar with their music). What other band has ever begun their concert with a cover song (usually kept til the end)? This mindfuck, keeping with Tool's enigmatic character, was apparently too much for some asshole at the right side of the stage, who hurled a full cup of beer at the stage. It splattered against speakers, I think ,and was cleaned up. I don't think the band saw. I feared it might set them into a bad mood that would compromise their performance, as has happened at some shows in the South. (Neanderthals.) I think the connection here is that Maynard recently acted in a movie with Dee Dee Ramone, who recently died. So the tribute makes sense, even thought Maynard singing punk songs just does NOT work! :-) ... I'd like to see this film. Apparently Maynard is the devil, who taunts these scantily-clad female criminals who die and got to hell, saying they will have to stay there for eternity watching Corey Feldman dance if they don't do something to desecrate Mary. Dee Dee plays the Pope, I believe. Mayhem ensues. Hopefully this cinematic gem will be widely available someday! Happily, they continued with the setlist (now excluding "Flood" or "4 degrees," unfortunately, which I would have liked to see :-( ...). We got Opiate instead of "Aenema," which surprised me also, as I thought Tool might take the opportunity to replace LA in the song with New York, and talk about the view from "New Jersey Bay." (Heh!) And "46&2," since "H" was played in NYC two nights before. I think my favorite was "Stinkfist," because I really enjoyed the trippy section added to the bridge. Before "The Patient," Maynard said, "We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for reminding us why we made the choices we made." There is a reason he says this at this point in the show (or doesn't, at some shows where they decided not to play the song because they seemed pissed at the audience). If you read the lyrics to the song, I think they can be interpreted to mean that Maynard and the band are always re-evaluating why they are doing what they do as rock stars. "I'm still right here / giving blood, keeping faith" — he's exposing himself before us in the hopes that we will receive this gift and use it to better ourselves. If there were no rewards to reap, No loving embrace to see me through This tedious path I've chosen here, I certainly would've walked away by now. Gonna wait it out. If there were no desire to heal The damaged and broken met along This tedious path I've chosen here I certainly would've walked away by now. And I still may ... (sigh) ... I still may. Be patient. I must keep reminding myself of this. * To me this means he's considered leaving Tool, giving up the whole lifestyle. Some nights I can understand, when the fans act particularly boorish, like throwing things on stage at the band like I've read about at many places, or being exceedingly violent in the pits (from my perch, it didn't seem very bad at all tonight). Wouldn't that just suck? If Maynard lost the will to sing for us anymore because he felt like we just weren't getting it? That's what I think he means here. He's being patient, and I for one among many THANK HIM from the bottom of my heart. Last note: his amusing version of the joke he makes after "Triad," when two guests come on stage to join in the drumming and sound effect creation. (Not from Tomahawk tonight, I believe; from the band's crew.) "Thanks Joe and Vince," he said. "Joe is the grandson of one of the four original Pep Boys — the one that got fired. Vince was the July, 2001 employee of the month at Riverside Wal-Mart. Congratulations, Vince." (That's what I heard, anyway; close enough!) FUNNY. What else need be said? It was a musical tour-de-force. I was totally relaxed and transported to a beautiful place. My girlfriend loved the video for "Parabola," in which it seemed as if chakras flowed up a body from the feet to the head in a depiction of internal power. I appreciated how the lighting highlighted different aspects of the "Interbeing" backdrop provided by Alex Grey (not to mention the retro-70s B-52s-like swirly lights on the curtain!). We are driving to Buffalo next Friday to experience the magic again. Thank you TOOL! We'll be back when you bring Meshuggah as well!

tool rocked the meadowlands last nite 1. commando to start. obviously the band is getting bored of starting with sober every show 2. opiate instead of aenima? opiate is a good old tool song but aenima is one of the best songs the band plays. why not play them both? 3. the same after intermission songs get boring. go back to eulogy or pushit 4. enough complaints, they still rocked and rolled the meadowlands. 5. hope they change the set more for the fall tour. later

Amazing performance!! Well worth the drive from Philly. We got somewhat lost on the way so we missed Tomahawk but wound up getting there about 20 minutes before Tool came on. We were in section 215 which gave us a side view and I was a little upset because I couldn't really see the video screen but let me tell you the view I had of Danny more than made up for it!!! The man is not human! I saw them last October in Nashvile and thought for sure that nothing could top that show...Was I ever wrong. I was praying for 46&2 and Opiate and couldn't believe they gave us both of them. I really loved the fact that Maynard was so much more into the performance physically than he was last time around. I think it really upped the energy for the entire crowd. Every song was incredible but Triad was definitely my favorite of the night. I can't even put into words how powerful this song was. Once again...Danny Carey is not of this world. I also have to mention Reflection. It just sent me to another place altogether! Once again the only negative part of this show was that it had to end. Thank you Maynard, Danny, Justin and Adam. Spiral out.

The Ramones song was Commando. The show was amazing. Danny's new drum set (made out of melted down Paiste cymbals) looks great. I'm just posting because no one posted the funniest thing that Maynard said (unless I missed someone saying it): He said "I hope that this experience makes you feel creative, or inspired...or maybe just horny, but that's good too."

I won't go in to the setlist or anything like that as they've been posted to death already. What I will say was this concert was awesome, the crowd was very intense. This was very possibly a better concert than the one I saw early in october at MSG. I will say one thing though it was *LOUD* even this morning after a few hours of sleep I still feel like I'm shell shocked.. But it was well worth it!

This was a graet show, I saw tool last Oct. and this show was different both visually and set list wise. Tool plays tightly and hard. In defence of Tomahawk which got alot of "Tomahawk sucks" shouts. I must say, this band is better than Fantomas, but not by much. The drumming is better and at least 2 songs were somewhat listenable. I liked Patton in Faith No More. He should drop the shrieking, the turntables, and distortion and just sing.

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Tool opened the show with some weird tune that sounded like a Ramones cover. Then they played a couple tunes that sounded vaguely familiar from the radio a few years back. Then they spaced out for the rest of the night, playing a bunch of old Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd covers. They may call the song "Parabola" but I know a Sabbath tune when I hear it! And isn’t "Reflection" on Atom Heart Mother? I think they played Yes’ "Roundabout " too, but I’m not sure. The guitar player jammed a Les Paul though a bunch of effects and the sound of it ripped my guts out. The bass player kicked me in the balls and stepped on my chest. The drummer wasn’t even human, he was a hellish demon who beat his drums so severely they should press assault charges against him. Wasn’t sure what to make of that May-nard fella who lurked around the back of the stage whispering, screaming and howling. At first I thought it was Riff Raff from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a scrawny little hunchback who knew how to groove. He later stripped down to a Speedo, and looked like a nearly naked scrawny little hunchback who knew how to groove. He told me to "create something positive with the energy you feel here tonight" so I decided to write this review. Later I’m going to make a ceramic ashtray. Around the third song in a cute girl in the row in front of me asked me if I had a joint I could sell her. I gave her a fat roach, no charge. Share the love! She thanked me…so did her husband. I wondered if they were swingers, then I remembered my wife and son were waiting for me back home so I shouldn’t pursue it. I was probably too old to be at this concert but I saw a few people in the crowd older than me so I guess it’s alright. I got confused and forgot where I was. Where was I? Oh yeah, I was listening to an awesome prog-rock band from the ‘70s. There were a bunch of young kids there, too but they seemed more interested in watching the big video screens on either side of the stage than watching the band. There was a movie playing about a cute little doll guy who gets up to all sorts of mischief. Somebody raided a high school biology department and brought along a bunch of diagrams and film clips of the human anatomy which were very educational (did you that the mitochondria is the "powerhouse" of the cell?) I also got to worship My Dark Lord and Master Satan when they lowered a giant pentagram behind the drummer during the second set. Or maybe it was a Star of David…it was hard to tell from where I was sitting. Shalom, Tool! It was a kick-ass, trippy show, well worth the $80 I paid for scalped tickets. I stopped at an IHOP after the show and ate a delicious omelette with flapjacks on the side. When I got home, I jerked off and fell asleep…it musta been the hot chick I gave the roach to…or maybe it was the fat men in diapers who danced around during the opening act…

amazing. setlist: ramones cover sober the grudge (.) ions stinkfist forty-six &2 schism parabol/parabola eon blue apocalypse/ the patient opiate disposition reflection triad lateralus to start off, tomahawk put on a good show. I wasn't as blown away by them as Fantomas, but still good nonetheless. The 2 guys standing on opposite ends of the stage wearing diapers made me crack up most of the time. Mike Patton is great, and pretty much wants you to hate him. "and if you guys don't hate us enough already, I've got something special for you guys." Then Mike put on a Kobe Bryant jersey and started chanting 3-peat. This was when most of the crowd booed and yelled get off the friggin stage. I think the diaper people got a larger applause. now TOOL: they cant put on a bad show. These guys are amazing. The Ramones Cover was a surprise, but i couldnt tell what song it was cuz all of the Ramones songs sound the same. Songs like sober, stinkfist, and forty six & 2 almost blew off the roof, it was so intense. Ive never seen a singer of a band get into the music as much as mjk. he was on the whole night, hit every note, and moved around like a madman. The visuals were better than the last tour, with more than just videos. Triad blew eveyone away, adding 2 guest musicians, one named Vince. Then mjk gave his positive speech and then lateralus, what a friggin finish. cant wait to see you guys again thank you TooL for the amazing experience.

The setlist has been posted so I won't. However, the Ramones cover I believe was Commando. I don't think completely badass even can explain this show. The band was so tight tonight. They didn't play Aenima but Opiate was fantastic. Highlights for me were Stinkfist(extended), The Patient, Parabol(a), and reflection. Good crowd overall except the people who booed Tomahawk, they are a great band. And except for the guy and the girl next to me who were 20 or 21 who smoked weed almost the entire show nonstop--I guess there stuff sucked so they had to keep smoking it, but anyway. The band was completely together as a whole and the sound I thought was pretty damn good. When they came back to play disposition, reflection, and triad the crowd cheered for a long time. Reflection was so amazing as was lateralus to end the show. When it was all over and done, I turned to the girl to my right and said, wasn't that the greatest thing you have ever seen? And she said she waited eight years to see Tool and that it was well worth the wait. Anyway very awesome show, you must see Tool on this tour!

Maynard sings the Grudge incredilby defiantly. Maynards energy picked up gradually throughout, 46 & 2 was some incredible stage lighting and effects. When Maynard kicks into his patented dance style is the greatest. He did this mainly when The Patient really kicked in, during Opiate and Lateralus. Head bobbing and arms flailing up and down, thats Maynard. It was awesome that he broke into THINK FOR YOURSELF, QUESTION AUTHORITY- just awesome and then an awesome suprise breaking into Opiate. Maynard thanked us and hoped we were inspired or healed. I am both. Amazing show. Can't wait see them again. Thank you TOOL.

-- (no idea) Sober The Grudge -ions Stinkfist (extended) 46&2 Schism (extended) Parabol/Parabola Eon Blue Apocalypse The Patient Opiate --an intermission-- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus -- This was my third show in 11 months, and they just keep getting better. I think I have the song order correct, but - ions may be in the wrong spot. I missed about 2/3rds of Tomahawk's set. No great loss. Compared to Mike Patton's previous band, Fantomas, I think they have a more structured, less experimental, style. That said, it was still a wall of noise and I got nothing out of it. If Maynard and Co. think they're awesome, more power to 'em - I'll pass. Apparently Tool enjoyed covering the Ramones at Radio City, so that's how they opened tonight. Sober was a great way to begin and it got better with The Grunge. -ions crackled through the arena, then after an extended Stinkfist, they moved into 46&2. This was probably the only (mildly) disappointing part of the show for me. Don't get me wrong - it's an excellent tune and it sounds fantastic live. It was just SO overplayed in the late 90s... I would've rather heard Eulogy or Pushit. Schism sounded great. I think this was where you could actually hear Maynard play his guitar. (I'm running out of superlatives to describe the music.) Parabol through The Patient was amazing. I found it difficult to take it all in... the music, the lights, and the videos combined to make in more than a "rock concert". After Maynard encouraged us to "Think for yourself, question authority", they kicked our collective asses with Opiate. The intermission was a welcome break. The best part of the show was the triumvirate: Disposition/Reflection/Triad. I totally disagree with the earlier reviewer who said Triad was crap. The Tomahawk guys gave the song a deeper texture. They could've jammed for another half hour and it wouldn't have been enough. Lateralus is the perfect ending on this tour. It provides closure, in a positive way, to the energy and experience we shared at this performance. Random thoughts: the people in and around my section (108, row 16) were very cool. To sum it up simply: no one acted in a way that hampered the enjoyment of others. There were people doing whatever the music moved them to do, but it was all respectful. Thank you. To the dipshit who hit Justin in the back with a full beer: I hope you got pummeled in the pit. I know he was just being polite, but I felt like an old man when the kid next to me asked, "Sir, do you have the time?" I had a perfect view of Danny. I've never seen a drummer with such power and fluidity. Watching him proceed through all the different time signatures and rhythms is a treat, even for a non-musician. Tool is an amazing live band and my only regret is not seeing them prior to last year. I said the same thing in September - if you're even a casual fan, you must see this tour.

Every time I see Tool they get better. But I must say that i was a little disappointed at this show. Well not at the show because it was still great. I was more so dissapointed at the crowd. My seats werent as good as what I had for the Trenton and Radio City shows. Although I could tell that the people down on the floor were really into it, the people near me were really boring. Most even started sitting down less then half way through the show which pissed me off a lot. At the trenton show i was in General Admission so everyone was into it and at Radio City the entire crowd was on their feet for the whole show, the same for the 2 MSG shows in october. So it was really disapointing to see people sitting down. I was wishing I was down on the floor so much. Then they played Opiate and alot of people were really into it but alot of people were sitting down as if they had no idea what the hell was going on and I almost thought that many didnt even know it was one of Tool's songs. Besides the horrible crowd the sound at Continental Airlines isnt that good. I know this from past experiences there. I swear that is the only place that I can go to a concert and go home with my ears not ringing, which sucks. I want my ears to be ringing when I leave. Well I tried to ignore all that bull and just pay attention to the show which like all of Tool's shows was amazing. The sound and crowd may have sucked but Tool was still great. At one point, right before they played Opiate, Maynard said "Think for yourself, Question authority" and I thought they were going to play Third Eye but they went right into Opiate which was also a nice surprise. The band still had alot of energy although the crowd did not and it made the show awesome. I really feel its the Jersey crowds that suck because it seems that all the concerts I go to there dont have good crowds but Tool is still great and i went home last night feeling very good.Seeing Tool three times in one week has been an experience I will never forget, the same for the 2 MSG shows which were equally great. Once again I'd like to thank Tool for being so great. Any time they are any where near New York I will be there. I would see Tool every night for a week straight if I could, call me crazy but Tool fans know how I feel. Tool is amazing. TOOL TOOL TOOL.

Hey you! Read reviews already posted for your show to see if somebody already posted the setlist. in traditional tool fashion. I am going to go againsnt the grain of conventional expression, and try something a little bit different. Rather than post a setlist, say how much tool are gods and come off like a bumbling idiot , Here are a montage of various thoughts that ran through my head through the duration of the day. Here it goes... i wish my dad didnt have to drive us to the concert. Ah well, small price to pay for tool. Finally here. Wow it's really not that big. this is going to rock. I hope security isnt thick so i can sit with my compatriots. no matter their tickets are way up high and im way down low. shit they are strict. Ah well have fun in the upper decks suckers. Row 6, row 6... holy shit this is the first row. boss. sweet here comes tomahawk. They are pretty good. those assholes yelling for them to get off the stage obvously have no tolerance for groundbreaking music. i think the bassist has some electrical problem. or maybe its just part of the song. sweet they are done. tool is next. Man i gotta piss. ah much better. oh baby lights are out here they come. what the hell is this? (i was later informed tool opened with a Ramones cover i didnt know. man they are absolutly amazing. sober is a good opener. man everything is just awesome. I know its kind of cliche but words cant describe the force tool's music contains. they are force stronger than gravity. damn danny is rippin it apart on 46&2. Christ hes not fair to other drummers hes too good. wow that broad has a great rack. finally i can see the entire parabola video. simply amazing. i should write a review of just my thoughts thats a good idea. oh my god. Opiate, who would of thought. Awesome. here comes triad. wow that was the best song of the night. lateralus, my favorite tool song. brilliant closer. During the entire last set. I spent many minuets with my eyes closed and just felt the music run throug my body. completely moving experience. for lack of better words. Most amazing musical ezperience of my life. if you can go see the show. even if you dont like tool, just go for the production value. its absolutely captivating.

I have long been on the search to see which band is the greatest band of all time. After narrowing down my choices to limp biskit, Creed, and TOOL,, I decided to see all three of them,…. Creed was fantastic with its ORIGINAL style, and Limp Biskit blew away everybody the normal deep lyrics about critical issues by Fred Durst. But then I saw tool Here is how it went. First Tomahawk Came out and put on a show,, which well I think could have been better if Patton didn’t act like such a dick. I guess its probably cause some retards just wanted to boo them instead of giving him a chance but whatever. Danny came out first, then either justin or Adam I’m not sure, but Maybard came out last.it was around 8:50 when they started,, 1. Commando ….Cover of the ramones,, WHAT? YES its true,,.. and it was weird seeing tool play punk,, but,, hell sounded pretty good to me. I was very surprised as I had never heard the song before, pardon my ignorance I used to live in India and I didn’t have access to a lot of good music. 2. Sober: pleasantly surprised as I thought they might begin with the grudge, but nonetheless it was fantastic. 3. The Grudge: As soon as the grudge started a huge curtain fell to reveal three faces at I gues 40% angels to each other. It looked pretty amazing and they played it to perfection with Maynard being very active. Incidentally he was wearing a black leather suit with a black stripe down the centre of his face. And yes the SCREAM did last for alteast 25 seconds,,,, and nah I’m pretty sure he doesn’t use any delay,, 4. (-) ions/ Stinkfist, (extended version),, the crowd went crazy as the sonic boom from Adam’s guitar turned into the crushing opening chords of stinkfist. Maynard was driving the crowd insane by lifting up his foot and smashing it to the ground,,, yeah only MJK can pull it off,,, everybody else would look like an idiot. 5. 46 & 2,,, played it well and after (or maybe before) the song said “jersey” “sounds more like New York?” or is its jersey,, or something like that I’m not sure,,, that’s cause east Rutherford is very close to NYC (for all those who didn’t get it) also Maynard said “thankyou, thankyou for making us realize why we made the decisions we made” 6. Schism : with the breakdown,,, in the middle,, I had felt so far the crowd was almost not into it as much as I had expected but after schism I realized maybe I was just getting a little hard of hearing,, as there were thunderous applause after schism and the crowd seemed very much alive. Maynard has also taken off the Leather suit to come out in Micro-Mini underwear 7. Parabol/Parabola : Played to perfection by now the crowd was going insane, I didn’t feel any of the moshers as I was upfront. But FUCKING GODAMN Retards,, stop moshing,,, first of all most of u do it wrong,, cause they’re playing 4/4 and many of u are too drunk or maybe just stupid to understand that or count ,,, so stop it,, lay back and enjoy ,, or just fuck off and stop coming to tool , shows,,, but why am I writing this,, I’m sure none of em are reading it “Think for u’reself, question Authority” said that,, but I was preetty sure it wouldn’t lead into Third Eye… sadly I was right 8. Opiate: Sounded absolutely amazing, much better than I expected,, did not miss Ænema at all , and I’m sure everybody knows that Danny Carey is a fucking GOD. Little intermission. 9. Disposition 10 Reflection,,, such a mind-blowing song. My favourite tool song,, Maynard was out with the guitar fomr some of it,,, yeah had the guitar during schism too 11. Triad… mindfuck,, simple way to describe it,,, its so much better than anything out there that any other band does,, they way they build it up from the ruins of Reflection is just,, fucking crazy,, 6 people on stage during Triad,, one with the other drums and somebody on some electronic thing,,, Positive speech,, with the whole hope u gained from this,,, and also said that they hoped the show had healed us,, or Inspired us,, or,, just made us horny,,, which too is good 12. Lateralus: Got into their circle and Played Lateralus to Perfection… just plain and simply BRILLIANT Also throughout the show Maynard was Very Active,, .. yeah that’s about it,, I’m too tired to think of anything else,, and my voice is fucked my hearing is fucked,, and for any of u serisouly wondering,, YES FUCK OFCOURSE I was kidding about Creed and biskit

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

Ok Tomahawk came on and they had a deer and two fat guys in their underwear swinging their arms back and forth. Tomahawk was completely rediculous and sucked balls. Ok my seats were right were tool was coming out and when the lights dimmed tool came out. they came out really really fast. Danny, Adam, Justin and maynard came out but your couldnt see maynard for the first song. except for a little. The set list even though its been posted already was COMMANDO (Ramones Cover) - This was sweet. SOBER THE GRUDGE - This was amazing - IONS - with little lightning bolts going up to the top of the stage STINKFIST- this was extended, right before the part where maynard says "I'll keep digging till I feel something", there was a like 2 mintue instumental break with like danny doing this awesome hi hat beat. FORTY SIX AND 2 - omg sounded amazing SCHISM - MJK on guitar also PARABOL/PARABOLA - wow maynard was in his black speedo and his face half painted black. Two big balls hung behind the band. EON BLUE APOCALYPSE THE PATIENT - Confetti turned red from the light rained on tool OPIATE - wow this was a treat. maynard said think for yourself, question authority twice before opiate. Then tool took like a 7 min. break while they played these trippy sounds and these blue lights crossed the croud. Then tool came back out and played the following DISPOSITION - extended REFLECTION - extended TRIAD - extended, guys from tomahawk played with them LATERALUS - this was amazing. after this the band bowed in a group. I was right next to where they were walking out so maynard came first and waved to me and like 4 other ppl i was next too. Danny through like 4 drumsticks out to the pit and one to the left where i was and it came so close to me but another got it. Danny walked out next and he said bye to the group and was with. Then Justin and Adam came next and didnt say anything, they also had cigs waiting for them. or one of them did i dont remember which one. Anyway this show was amazing and the effects were so good. Maynards vocals were unbeliveable. Danny also played the drums like a fucking god. Great Show!!!!

I showed up around 5:30.. sat around in the parking lot till about 7:00, doors were supposed to open at 7:30 but I think they opened before that. Lucky for us, we had the V.I.P G.A. Tickets, which just means we had the front pit (as they split it into two sections). So, I had a very good view the whole concert (anywhere from 3 to 7 rows of people in front of me).. the othe other hand it was hard to see some of the visuals.. Anyway, Tomahawk came out, and they are awesome. I read a lot of reviews that say they suck, I can't believe that someone who listens to Tool can be so closed minded. Granted they are no Tool, but to say they suck is just stupid. We could only be so lucky if every band on the radio today had the talent of Tomahawk. They put on a good show, even though only about a quarter of the seats were full, and the G.A section was pretty empty. Patten was funny as hell, showing off his L.A. Lakers jersey, try to piss people off in the very area that the Nets play in. Very funny. It was really a pleasure to see Patton do all these crazy effects with his voice. Tomahawk has a very atmospheric sound. Danny came out for an extended version of 'Point and Click', it was awesome. Danny was doing some kind of sound effects on an possibly an analouge synth? I'm not sure. Then, of course came Tool. After they get on stage Danny starts to play a drum line that I don't recognize.. then they all start of play and I realize it must be 'Commando', it was really cool to see Maynard sing a punk song, he was crouched over and reallly into it.. Then Sober, The Grudge, ect.. I'm sure you can find the setlist somewhere. They played very well, with many extened versions of songs, 46&2, Stinkfist and possibly others. The jam session on Triad was cool, with someone coming on to play an assortment of snare like drums and someone else playing synth. Great of course. Like always, they finished with the title song, and it just blew me away, very surreal, almost dream like with all the visual and audio stimuli. So wonderful and beatiful. A great nigh, and I can't wait to see them again.

This was the absolute worst crowd I've ever seen at a Tool show. A bunch of dumb meatheads and obnoxious bitches. There were fights breaking out every couple of songs. Maynard should have the fucking balls to kick some of these jack-offs out. At least they didn't boo Tomahawk for no reason, and alot of people were really into them. Tool played pretty good, but the setlist sucked. More or less the exact same set as Philly last year. Sober is terrible as an opener. Then again, it just shouldn't be played period. the song just doesn't stack to everything else they do. Disposition/Reflection/Triad were the highlight of the show. Reflection is alot tighter than it was last year. I was really disappointed with the whole set though. CHANGE THE FUCKING SETLIST!!!!!!!!!! Anyways, Tomahawk completely stole the show. Their mix was incredible and you could hear everything perfectly. This may be the best performance I've ever seen. These guys are fucking amazing. No Sir Yes Sir, Malocchio, or Honeymoon, but we did get Angel Eyes and a new song. I can't wait to see them again at the Halloween show!!

This was this reviewer's 16th Tool show

Wow..all I can say is WOW. Being an old-school Tool fan, last night was my 16th, and by far the most powerful show I have seen since 96'... Of course every show is absolutely amazing but this one had all of those "special things" that made it come together... You can feel it in your bones, that the band themselves were into each others thoughts...as well as the crowd being hyped-up and into every note, movement and lyric the band played... This combination created something fierce last night... With exception to the useless waste of life who threw a full beer at the stage..hitting Justin. How in gods name could you disrespect a band such as Tool..or any band that you paid good money to see by lowering yourself to that of a neanderthal. Not to mention that this person or many others couldnt even come close to the musical and artistic creativity that every member of Tool holds. This is the first show that I was not in GA... but I was extremely satisfied to be able to read into Tool to the fullest from afar without the pushing and shoving and the occassional feeling of claustrophobia... Danny Carey is absolutely brutal... I am almost sure he has a few extra arms and legs tucked in somewhere behind his drumset...(which is a lovely new set built from melted down Paiste cymbals... sweet) Justin was in a percussive frenzy the entire show...locked in with every bomb that Danny threw down. Adam was his usual self... standing almost motionless with his lovely silverburst Les Paul... like he was in a creative trance... feeding off the energy of all his suroundings. Maynard... apperaing in a full black leather outfit, with a tastefully done...black stripe down his head and face... excellent. Then stripping down to nothing but his tighty whiteys(blackies).... in a psycho-frenzied spasm, he belted out his lyrics and beliefs like I have never seen before, ... hunched with his mic and pulsating like a madman to every groove that was played. It is obvious that everyone of the members are passionate about their music...as am I. Some people turn to drugs or other things to give themselves peace of mind. My favorite drug is Tool..Everytime I see them..I become reinspired towards life...thanks guys and hurry back to the area.

This was this reviewer's 3rd Tool show

First off whether Maynard is a fan of Tomahawk or not, in my opinion they fucking suck. All you little whiney fucks that are complaining about the Tomahawk bashing, IT WAS A FUCKING TOOL CONCERT. People went there to see Tool. Tomahawk is nothing like Tool. Original yes.... But shitting on a microphone to hear the sound effect would be original too, doesn't mean it is good. Tomahawk was as disappointing as Patton's other band Fantomas from last year. The guy just sucks. I think he got insulted at how shitty Faith No More was, and now he is taking it out on everyone with his high pitched, and highly synthesized screeching. They aren't worth the 2 minutes I spent typing this. Anyway, onto Tool. I had back floor general admission. I got up close, but I wasn't in the mood to be crammed in a crowd. I like to be able to relax and feel comfortable when listening to Tool. So I headed all the way into the back of the floor where it was clear. That was the best decision I could have made. From the back you had a complete view of both screens, the stage, and got to experience the whole effect without being bothered by idiots who wanted to mosh. It was really cool. There were quite a few assholes being dragged out by security. I don't get how people can cause fights during Tool. There were also a couple people being carried out because they were fucked up on something whether alcohol or some other drug. I don't get that either. What is the point of going to a concert if you have to get carried out half way through? The visuals were amazing as usual. The sound was good. I thought the set list was great. Awesome how they kicked off the show with a Ramones song. I really hope someone got a bootleg of that one. Maynard closed the show by saying "We hope some of you will leave inspired in some way, or healed in some way, or maybe just horny. Take these feelings you have and hold on to them and turn them into something positive". Excellent show. There was a girl on the floor dancing around like they the hippies used to at woodstock. That was awesome. Its cool to see people get into the music like that, and not caring what other people think. The crowd was loud and into the show. Great time. Probably the best Tool show I've been to. Well maybe not... They all are too good to compare.

Tonight proved to me the fact that you don't need good seats at a Tool show to enjoy an incredible experience. On Tuesday, I was fortunate enough to see Tool at Radio City Hall with a six row orchestra spot. I had never been so up close before and to see Maynard all painted in brilliant Lateralus day glo, and to have Carrey's drumming thunder through me was truly an awesome experience. After seeing the Tuesday show, I found it hard to get revved up for Thursdays Continental Arena show, since I had some really bad nosebleed upper tier seats. But the moment Tool came on , I realized that this didn't matter in the least. As a matter of fact, I think I enjoyed the show just as much from afar. I was able to truly take in the whole beautiful artwork, lighting and video imagery from this far but centered vantage point. I could also see that Maynards platform was in fact a movie screen-something I didnt notice on Tuesday. Seeing them up close truly is incredible, but in a way I didn't experience the full effect of this Tool chapter until I could take it all in from afar. I will never doubt the epic power of a Tool experience. They truly have no equal. Highlight of the night--Maynard saying "Think for yourself...question authority...think for yourself" a la Timothy Leary and Salivals brilliant Third Eye. Then going into Opiate....Unbelievable.

This was this reviewer's 5th Tool show

I really don't know where to begin. No need to post the set list. But I have to quickly comment on the Ramones cover. I wasn't ready for that one. It was a nice surprise to start the show. I am not a punk rock fan by any means but it was interesting to say the least. One of the highlights of the evening for myself was Disposition/ Reflection/ Triad (was that Maynard rocking the bass on Triad?). Mmmm. I tell ya ... that man can sing. But you already knew that, huh? The six banners that drop when Reflection starts are especially moving. The first is a human skeleton, and it 'evolves' from there through a series of tissue and conciousness. They are more or less a culmination of the images displayed in the Parabol/ Parabola video. This is probably a bad written re-creation, but I had to mention it. I couldn't tell if there was some Drunvalo/ Flower of Life stuff going on in the final image, but regardless, the visuals were stunning. And another thing. The slight vocal changes in the way Maynard accents certian words, along with the subtle pitch differences make the live performance wholy different for myself. He seems to add such rythym to the songs live. His contorting/ interperative dances just blowme away. You have no choice but to be moved. It just isn't a concert. It's an experience that I can't quite depict. But I still wanted to give it a shot. I will get this out of the way now because I don't want to end on a negative note. Tool took the stage and no more then 60 seconds in, Justin was hit square in the dome by what seemed to be a full beer, launched from the pit. Bad form. Who does that? Bad form. Bad form all around. So real quick... Justin, all apologies from everyone else who wasn't the putz with the complex. Thank you for taking it in stride. Adam is a jerk. Well, maybe not a jerk, but he frustrates me. I watched his hands throughout the evening. He makes it look so easy. His form is flawless. Just watching him play is entertaining enough. Who needs backflips when you have form like that. Thanks for all the extra pinched harmonics. They just don't get old. So, this Danny Carrey guy can drum. Though my seat prevented a full frontal view of the percussive onslaught, I caught glimpses of it. Besides, I heard it and that was plenty. Triad was amazing. Danny just ripped the crowd a new one for the length of the song. The double bass alone is enough to swell the insides. The 46 & 2 solo was jam up AND jelly tight. Danny was ready to hit the courts right after the show. It looked as if he was sporting full basketball attire. Have I rambled enough yet? probably, huh? In closing, Tool still manages to make me feel something I can't find anywhere else in music. Come to think of it, I can't actually find it many other places. I found time to laugh once or twice, thanks to Maynard and his 'rapist-wit' (mark the time... a Dumb & Dumber reference). I feel the tension build then release through the music. The audio/visual display is a perfect dichotomy. They conjure all of the emotions I can name off the top of my head, plus a few I might have to look up. If you have gone, you probably understand. If you haven't, WHY NOT?!? You have to be there to realize why it isn't just them playing some songs of of the albums. It is completely and totally different. Best concert I have ever seen. I would say something like "how will they top it?", but that would be naive, because they always do. Sorry for all the spelling errors and the gramatical bus accident that is my review. Hope I added a different perspective. Until the next show... Thank you Tool

While i was there I noticed a guy giving out tickets for an after party I wonder what that was all about? But anyway this is just a band I have only dreamed of seeing for so long and it was just amazing. I wish that they had performed aenima and H, but ending with Lateralus made up for it. the show was really good, and i was so happy they played OPIATE!! i was a little pissed at the people around me though b/c i was almost at the barricade, and there was a lot of people who just thought they deserved to shoving their way through the crowd, and they weren't exactly able to slip though the crowd. so, me being all of 5'3 got completly smushed. i wasn't expecting that. but as soon as i moved back a bit, i was totally able to enjoy the show. they kinda tricked the crowd by starting to play what sounded like pushit, then said "think for yourself . question authority," and i thought they would play third eye, but then went right into opiate. the crowd exploded. it was great. although i was a little disappointed that i didn't hear aenema. but i guess i can wait until the next time i see them. hopefully then they'll play more from undertow and aenima.

Each time i go to see Tool they amaze me just a little bit more. This time was no exception. First we all had to sit through Tomahawk, which was less than impressive, and this comes from a Faith No More fan. Now, on to Tool. There were 2 screens, each about 15 by 15 feet, showing the same art, so everyone could see. The art ranged from previous Tool videos to out of this world interpretations of the lyrics to the corresponding song (for example, The Patient showed what seemed to be a jilted man longing for the effections of his female conterpart). There were also videos between songs, such as that of a man's face that streched from death to birth, and back again, showing his skull in the middle. While souns from (-) ions were played, fiberoptic cables imitated an electric current. There were many other works, but ill just mention one more that astounded me. Metallic confetti was dropped and red light was shined at it to make it appear to be breaks in the air itself. The set list was normal, barring a Ramones cover that i thought was very awesome of them, to honor Joey in that way. One last bit of info i will include is something that is still haunting my mind. As me and my girlfriend were being herded out with the other cattle at the end of the show, 2 guys were behind us talking. One asked the other, " Which would you say was better, Tool or Creed? " His friend replied "Well I would say Creed, cause you could actually see the lead singer." After hearing that, I gave up all hope for the world.

Question authority". I thought they were going to play Third Eye, but No! they played Opiate. It was incredible! I'm glad they played some of their older stuff. I love the extended Stinkfist. And Triad took on new meaning. Can't wait to see them again.

First thing's first: Tomahawk was absolutely, positively terrible. I'm a musician, and as such, I make it a point to never boo anyone on stage. This night, however, I couldn't help it. I wasn't alone, either. I was sitting in section 214, and the concentrated hatred that the other members of that section directed at the band was astounding. I've never seen any band draw that kind of hostility from an audience. As for Tool...I was disappointed. There seemed to be something missing the whole night. They seemed to be putting as much effort as possible into the performance, but it just wasn't working. Sober went over okay, but Stinkfist and 46 and 2 didn't get me going the way I expected. And, since Aenima (not sure about the spelling) is my favorite Tool song, I was disappointed that they didn't play it. I will say this: I dug the last half of the show, when the Star of David came down. That was some pretty deep stuff they were playing, and I loved all the imagery. Still, I expected more. I will see them again, however, and next time, they WILL rock.

I just wanted to say that the crowd was kick ass. tThey were into every song. How many people get to jam onstage at a sold out show with the're fave band?? I am truly blessed. I was asked to play with them at Radio City but I had a gig. This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

My first tool show was two days ago in the 2nd row of Radio City, and his time around I was given luxury box seats and shared the concert with 5 of my friends. I was expecting this time around to simply enjoy the spoils of the luxury box (free food, free alcohol, private bathroom!) and sit down and enjoy tool with my friends. The experience at Radio City was so amazing I didn’t think that experiencing them at CAA blocked off from the rest of the concertgoers could compare. I was pleasantly wrong! I had an unlimited amount of scotch and beer, I saw the show with friends, I had a lot of room to move around (about 5 seats worth), and being 32 years old, my days of moshing (especially in tricky meters) are hopefully long gone. The visuals on the side of the stage didn’t concern me on Tuesday (they were too far out of my peripheral range, I didn’t bother looking at them often); they captivated me this time around. I didn’t sit down once, and I had about 10 seats to choose from. There were some strangers in the box with us, and some of them were real tool fans: in the first part of the show I hung right behind them so that when I was jumping around and belting out the words like some tool savant my friends wouldn’t think it too odd to see. I’m sure they did anyway. I’ll learn what they thought of it tonight, but I really don’t care (too much). Everyone experiences music in his or her own way. When it’s really good, I like the music and lyrics to inhabit my body / mind and it gets reflected out accordingly. Tool and Rush get me dancing and singing. Even in a luxury box. Between songs I got to socialize with my friends, take a piss, and fill up my glass. When the next song came on I was back, glued to the stage and visuals, dancing and singing. They seemed even tighter tonight around the trickier parts – perhaps the panache of Radio City to a musician can be a bit overwhelming. I was glad they played their ‘alternate’ setlist and got to hear 46+2 and Opiate, two songs that would have to be on the proverbial desert island tool disc (that old gag!). However, not playing Ænema was unfortunate for a friend whose whole reason for enjoying tool stems from that song. Oh well. He shouldn’t have turned down seeing them at Radio City in the 2nd row when I gave him the chance! If tool wanted, they could keep an audience rocking through every song they ever made and still leave them wanting more; a mark of a truly great band. Perhaps, with fortune, I’ll get to seem them on Halloween and complete one of the most memorable touring experiences of my life (and being connected to radio for my entire life, I’ve had quite a few touring experiences).

I looked for weeks on ticketmaster.com for anything other than nosebleed seats, then suddenly one day i had a choice of general admission floor seats AND section 121 seats to the left of the stage. i was going with my cuzin who's short and wouldn't see too well from the ga seats so i took the stadium ones. i wasn't quite sure what to expect of the seats themself because the only other concert and arena i had been to was TOOL @msg october 1st. so as my cuzin and i approached continental with a whole crapload of people outside the arena smoking drinking and listening to music and talking i wasn't sure what to expect at all. upon entering and viewing where the seats actually were and how amazing they were i was sooooo happy. my cuzin and i both were surprised at how great they were. a woman sitting next to me had a sign saying "TOOL IS GOD" which i found amusing. it was also funny to see how many people were surprised that a 16 year old was at the concert singing every word of the song and rockin his ass out. but anyways on with the evening. tomahawk approached the stage with these overweight bald white guys wearing diapers. the guys stood on each side of the stage and during tomahawks set danced in place to various songs. tomahawk was dressed up in police uniforms and mike patton was pretty cool. i remember him at msg october 1st when he sang with fantomas, and i hated fantomas. tomahawk tho had some cool songs and rythyms and cheered and clapped for them as they played. they put on a good show and mike patton moves his body so crazily on stage, it was really cool. it was funny when he said to the audience "ok new jersey are you sick of our shit yet?" and most of the audience gave a resounding yes because they were so stoked to see TOOL. mike then made a joke about the overweight babies saying "what do you guys think of our roman centurian gaurds? ladies let me hear you scream ahhhhhhhhh!!!!". it was pretty funny but one thing that pissed me off about mike was when he was like "how about a threepeat,or a fourpeat. we know you love us so much" and then he took off his uniform and played to rest of the set in a lakers jersey. many people don't understand that his philosophy is to piss people off while he's on stage. that's why he was so negative about his performance saying "are you people sick of our shit yet?". regardless tho after they left the stage, i gave them respect and props for playing. although many said they sucked, i thought for at least trying and putting their all into the performance (especially mike) and playing decently, i give them respect. they left the stage and then the TOOL stage was set up. about 5 minutes before the lights were dimmed i called my friend adam and just sed hi lettin him kno i was at the TOOL concert. he's also a TOOL fan and was pretty happy to hear from me. then, the lights were dimmed and the eerie music started playing. i was so stoked i just started screaming and yelling. then dramatically TOOL entered the stage walking slowly to their spots. the crowd erupted in cheers and applause as did i. they opened the show playing a very short song that i don't believe anybody knew about. it was awesome none the less and i found out the next day on here that it was a ramones cover called 'commando". kick ass opener, i loved it. than the real opener came with Sober. that was the perfect song to open with. the crowd was so hyped! they then played the grudge and some asshole threw a beer at justin and it hit him in his back and splattered behind him. he didn't act like he even noticed tho and continued to play. another fag threw a beer at adam and it splattered in front of him and his equipment and for the latter part of the show he played in a pool of beer. some glow sticks were thrown too, but i guess that's what you get for playing in new jersey with the dickheads that live here. it really pissed me off that people can be so stupid and act like such assholes tho. TOOL kicked ass like usual tho and took everything in stride. maynard started off wearing a black jumsuit type of thing and then before parabol/parabola undressed unto a black underwear type of garment only covering his genitals and ass. he had the coolest tatoo of that scorpion and it was cool to see it. plus he wore kick ass black make up that made a line in the center of his bald head and face. he was also very talkative saying "jersey....sounds more like new york" before opiate he said "think for yourself, question athourity, think for yourself question athourity"...before a few other songs he said 'we'd like tho thank you for sharing this moment with us, and thank you also so being there for us. you influence every choice we make, thank you"...and after the 15 minute performance of triad (which i thought was the best part of the show with the most amazing drumming and guitar and bass playing i have ever heard in my life) he said "thanks to vince who's the grandson of the fourth pep boy who got fired (everyone laughed) and thanks to (? i didn't get his name) who was employee of the month at riverside wal-mart in california" funny stuff everyone was laughin...and before lateralus which was the final song he said "take this feeling tonight that you're having and take it home with you...maybe we made you happy, maybe we made you feel mad, maybe you were inspired, or maybe we just made you horny. regardless, take this feeling home with you and in the days following, the months following, the years following do something posititve with it" can't be said much better maynard, you are truly the greatest singer in music as well as the greatest speaker. lateralus ended the night which was also an amazing moment. i must say i thought the msg show was better than this, probably because they played so much longer there. in some ways i thought the show tonight was short. it was still the shit, but just a lil short. i blame that on the assholes throwing shit on stage. maybe if they wouldn't have TOOL may have played more, i know i would have been pissed off after gettin hit with a fuckin beer. but they took it in stride and gave me the greatest night of the summer. whenever they come back i shall see them again, and until then i will continue to give TOOL all the credit for making my life so much more worth it. the frustration i got out at the show and happiness it truly brought me was amazing. thanks for an amazing show filled with memories, and thanks to the crowd for giving me so much more energy. hope to see you again soon TOOL.keep rockin and changin lives.....you changed mine.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

I went with my roommate who isn't a Tool fan. Afterwards, he said "this is the best show i've seen in my life." If you haven't seen Tool this tour, let that be an indication of how much effort was put into the show. The band opened with a Ramones song and really caught me off guard as I thought "What the fuck is this?" Sure enough, after about thirty seconds (hey, it's punk music) they began to play Sober while the crowd moved their heads up and down in unison. Kinda funny, I suppose. During the Grudge, I believe, the curtain sort of faded into a picture of a man, two skulls, and two fetuses which became apparent at various points during the show. Towards the end of the show, I guess the Sacred Mirrors thing came down and really blew me away. Overall, the show was very Pink Floyd-esque. It's obvious that Tool cares enough about their fans to do more than just stand on a stage and play music.

Okay.....so I really wasn't too into TOOL before Thursday.... But now.....well, it's a totally different story now....I was offered an extra ticket from my friend on Tuesday and thought what the hell.....I am soo glad I went. We had to get rid of extra ticket, so we offered to this guy my friend new....big mistake!!! I really hope he had a good time, but fuckin-a dude, shut the fuck up!!!! I'd rather eat the cost of the ticket than deal with someone so annoying again. Thanks to the guys in section 119, row 17, seats 4 & 5......that was really cool of you to switch seats so we could see the show.....we appreciate it more than you'll ever know.... We totally missed Tomahawk, but from what it sounds like, we didn't miss much. Tool came on, the entire arena went ape shit. After their first song, I leaned over to my friend and told her that they are better than sex. The rest of the show was just orgasmically great. We were in sec. 119, so we couldn't really see Maynard, but I do remember, he had on this wicked leather outfit, and the next time I spotted him, he appeared to be naked, then a little bit later he stepped into full view and I saw them black speedos...ROCK ON MAYNARD!!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but the lighting went red and silver confetti started falling to the stage when Adam was doing a solo for Stinkfist (I'm not sure, this is all new to me)....man oh man, if he needs a muse, pass on my email to him.....he's got one right here!!!! He was facing our section most of the night, and I swear on everything I hold dear, I could feel his eyes penetrating me. Then the green light flashed our section, basically blinding me and I couldn't help but grin. Adam, I'm yours, all yours....... So needless to say, I'm a fan for life......

This was this reviewer's 1st Tool show

This was the first Tool show that I have been to and it was also the very first concert I have attended (I am 13). We arrived when Tomahawk was playing and we got something to eat, but when we got to the seats Tomahawk was done and they were booed off the stage. I didn't see it but I heard that the lead singer took off what he had on on top of an LA Lakers jersey. Heh, then after a little bit Tool took the stage and opened with a cover (Ramones?) and followed that with Sober. Sober really pumped the crowd up and got things going. I think The Grudge followed Sober and it was great. I dont really remember the setlist because I was more interested in actually watching the show and enjoying my first concert, but i do remember the songs. After The Grudge they played an extended version of Stinkfist with about two minutes of extra crap. One of my favorite Tool songs, 46 & 2, was next and it was amazing. A snake was on the monitor and it was in an O shape but it was eating it's tail and it kept eating faster as the song went on. Another thing on the monitor that I remembered was a head that would stick it's tongue out into another head below it and it either looked like the heads were spitting the tongue back and forth or one would stick the tongue out and the other would suck it in. The next song I remember was Schism. There was a short pause before, then the guitar in the beginning of the song and then the bass. I realize that Adam is a genious, but all the parts in Tool's songs that stuck in my head were mostly bass. I can list songs that had bass parts that stuck in my head- Sober, Eulogy, 46 & 2, and Schism are the most memorable bass parts. They played Opiate (from the EP), and a whole bunch of stuff from the end of the Lateralus CD that was cool until I realized that they werent going to have time for both AEnema and H., then they closed the show with Lateralus. I was really excited to hear the song because I have been listening to a lot of AEnima stuff lately, and if that wasn't enough, the visuals were incredible. At the same time i was disapointed that they didn't do AEnema or H. It was an incredible first concert for me and I would have made changes to the setlist for it to be perfect, but I still loved the show.

This was this reviewer's 2nd Tool show

This was my second show... and it was SO much better then the first. The first show was in Madison Square Garden, and I had seats. This time I had general admission tickets. We got there and realized we were RIGHT in front of the stage. We stood our ground, and hour before the show was even supposed to start, determined to be right in front. It was amazing. I enjoyed Tomahawk more then I thought I would. The dancing men in diapers were a riot. I was getting very impatient for Tool to come on... and finally, they did. The second the music started, the crowd was pushed forward with such force that my feet immediately left the ground. It took me a few seconds to get a grip on what was going on- well a mental grip that is- not a physical one. My feet were still searching for the floor and the people against the baracade wouldn't let me hold on. This one obese guy had managed his way between me and my friend. He was pushing violently and I panicked. I had the security guard lift me out and had to make my way back around, not nearly as close, but better off a bit further away. TO ALL YOU ASS HOLES WHO THINK THAT'S WHAT TOOL'S ABOUT- IT'S NOT. YOU RUIN A LOT OF FUN FOR OTHERS. GROW UP OR GO TO SOME VIOLENT METAL SHOW IF THAT'S YOUR KIND OF FUN. Anyways, by the middle of the second song, I was calm. Tool played amazingly. The backdrops by Alex Grey were wonderful. And the lighting made the same ones appear different. Some of the images were the same, a few different. They were enjoyable though, as always. The confetti, reflected off the lights appeared to be dazzling red glints of light sprinkled on the crowd. I was too far back to catch any at this time (they were dispersed only on a small portion of the crowd). I turned around once and noticed the disco ball- I'm sure it looked better to the people in the seats... but no complaints here. I could see the band well throughout the show. I was glad maynard stayed in his shorts with his face painted, he seemed more comfortable then the Lateralus tour. The music was great!... slight changes- all for the better. Triad especially, blew me away. The drummer from Tomahawk joined and the song seemed to magically continue on and on. Also, Opiate was a more then pleasant suprise. I didn't miss Aenima much... I heard it last time. THANKS FOR PLAYING IT! My friend even wished for it on the way there. So... the playlist I believe is as follows, although I'm not positive of the order... -some short song -sober(cool change(not drastic though)) -grudge -46 & 2(I was hoping for H.) -neon blue apocolypse -the patient(yay!) -schizm -parabol -parabola -opiate(hooray!) -intermission(pretty freaky images) -disposition -reflection -triad(amazing) -lateralus(great backdrops at the end) Everything about the show was amazing. Much much better second time. Anyone who hasn't seen Tool, you must. And try as hard as you can to get general admission it pays off as long as some fat asshole isn't suffocating you. Ok adios!

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

Following is an email I sent to a friend before I discoved this website: Dear Jill, Went to the concert last night and I have to tell you that it was probably one of the best shows I've ever been too. They were awesome entertainers and true artists. The show wasn't a lot of screaming or swearing from the band. They put on a terrific stage show and articulated every word when they sang. As well, the stage show was well rehearsed and worth every dollar I spent on my ticket. The audience sang along, danced and it was positive. I was afraid of a band appearing with vulgar language and winding up the crowd. Nothing of the sort and the musicians are some of the finest. I did not want the show to end. They sang a handful of their older stuff, which I LOVE and a lot of new, but it didn't matter because it all sounded GREAT! Sorry you couldn't make it, but I am addicted now and probably will never miss another tri-state area concert again. Michelle

TOOL WAS ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE! this was our first tool show, and it was the best experience of our lives! we made teeshirts to wear there. one said "DAMN YOU!... LET THE RABBITS WEAR GLASSES!" another said "I <3 MAYNARD" and then on the back it said "PISS ON ME MAYNARD" we got lots of commentation on them. they were perfect. we were a little upset we they didnt play aenima, hooker with a penis, or eulogy. but all the songs they did play were amazing. the best part was definitely Maynard dancing barefoot in his extremely small black briefs! and getting to see his awesome tattoo. we completely lost our voices from screaming "Maynard We Love You!" our friend went crazy every couple minutes and screamed "Danny Carey I Want To Have Your Children!" ahaha. the show was ulitmate bursting material. we are totally going to the next show they have here.

This was this reviewer's 1st? Tool show

WOW This was my first time seeing tool and I've been waiting for this forever. And god they blew me away. but first Tomahawk - Ehh, I don't know what to say or feel. I like the studio versions of their stuff. the Live I don't know. I really like God Hates a Coward, and they did it live really well. But Patton was to experimental you could say with the vocals and stuff. the music is really to talented at all. But I enjoyed it. Now, Tool. Since NJ gave Patton a fairly decent response, they werent boo'ed off stage and what not. We got one hell of a set list. Here it is by the way, the Correct One The Ramones Cover from RCMH Sober The Grudge Parts from (-)Ions Stink-Fist (Extended) 46 & 2 (thank god) Schism Parabol (full song) Parabola (wow) Eon Blue Apocolypse The Patient Opiate ---------- Intermission (not the song but an actual break) ---------- Disposition Reflection Triad Lateralus And might I say Amazing. The Artwork was beautiful, they all played flawlessly. Maynard's voice was right in tune. And even the wail in The Grudge, was perfect. If you haven't seen Tool yet, and are on this tour. You wont be disappointed. I wont say anymore because if I do, spoilers, and if I got into detail, I would be typing forever Spiral Out. And Keep Going.
