Review written by: Messiah Perry (Cpt Russia@aol.com) Review posted on: 08/17/98 09:21:56 First off. Wow. I remember two years ago seeing TOOL at Lallapalloza when they came down here and I was awe struck. That's what got me listening to them. But this time was better than the other show. I've been to a good amount of concerts in my 'day' and I can honestly say TOOL has one of the best live shows. I still would really like to know what they played when they brought out the guitarist from the Melvins...and as always Mr. Keenan had some very interestingly true comments to share with the crowd, from his talk about "Total open mindedness through chaos" to "Well this last song is only about 5 minutes long which may not be enough time for you all to strip naked and f*ck each other". The 'light' show wasn't as good as it was during Lallapalooza but it was still grade A quality. I really enjoyed the large t.v. monitors that are attached to our little amphitheatre showing some dazzling patterns that were quite trippy. And as always, Mr. Keenan and his captivating voice is what got the crowd riled up. Not even Limp Bizkit and the two midget singers that they brought on stage got the crowd as riled up as TOOL did. Great job guys.

Review written by: Eric Payne (TheSpooky1@aol.com) Review posted on: 08/16/98 20:59:37 This show was fuckin' amazing!!! The day started off with Monster Voodoo Machine. I had never heard them before, but they really surprised me. They reminded me a little of Anthrax, but much better. The singer jumped down to the ground and let the fans sing along and scream. We skipped Incubus because we could hear them, and they sucked. Next was Ultraspank. They were easily one of my favorite acts of the day. I had their cd 2 weeks before the concert and was really into them. I remember them playing Butter, Suck, Fired, Burnt, and a few others. The singer was ranting about unity and was cracking on some racist guy. Then Coal Chamber came on, they really disappointed me. When i had seen them with Pantera they were much better. Dez came out with a sling on his arm, i don't know if it was fake or not. He did get the crowd to sing along with him on Sway though. We skipped the Melvins because all of their songs sound the same, just noise. Then came Sevendust. They suprised the shit out of me!! The singer Lajon is just amazing live. The band really put out a lot of energy. I have liked them fro about 6 months now, and they sound SOOO much better live. They even covered Walk by Pantera!! Then came Kilgore. I missed the rist few of their songs, but the rest were ok. The best song by far was TK-421. Then came Soulfly. I was expecting a little more from them, but they didn't disappoint. I hate the fact that they cover sooo much Sepultura shit and don't play all Soulfly. It was probably half Sepultura songs, half Soulfly. I was waiting for a Nailbomb song, but I never heard one. Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit came on stage for Bleed, which kicked ass. There was a huge drum solo when the entire band played drums for like 4 minutes during Bumba. They played Chaos A.D., with Chaos B.C. as the intro. Then they finished with Refuse/Resist, which was heavy as shit!! System of a Down was pretty good. I already knew some of their shit, and War was really good live. They are some freaky bitches though! Also, the singer was ranting about some goverment conspiracies which was cool. Then the biggest disappointment of the day came up, Limp Bizkit. I was expecting so much more from this band. They had no energy whatsoever expcept when they covered Blind and Wicked by KoRn. They played the intro to Blind, then just after Fread said, "Are you Ready??", they stopped. The Wicked lyrics were mixed with some awesome Slayer song on guitars, but i don't know which Slayer song it was. If anyone knows which Slayer song that was, please e-mail me. then they finished with Faith. Snot IS AMAZING LIVE!! The singer Lynn Strait is so cool. They played: Snot, ijus'lie, Get Some, Snooze Button, and Stoopid. I skipped Megadeth and Motorhead. Then came the best act of the day, TOOL.!! I have to say first though that I was tripping on 3 and a half hits of acid. It only made the experience of seeing tool that much better. If you can do any drugs when you see tool, do them. They are so much better. This was my first time ever seeing TOol, and they were sooo much better than I had expected. Maynard's singing is just soo beautiful and spiritual. I can't see how anyone can mosh to them, I Just wanted to stare and listen in awe. I was surprised that they played Part of Me. It was never one of my favorite songs, but it is now. Stinkfist was awesome. nima was cool. I loved No Quarter. I had no idea what it was till after the show. It had to be at least 12 minutes long. Not much singing but was amazing!!! Jerk-Off was amazing, I didn't want it to end. I hope that Tool comes to FLorida again soon, in a smaller venue, so that there will be even more energy.

Review written by: Drew (cerealki@pro-graphics.com) Review posted on: 08/04/98 02:55:06 Just a few things to say. Coal Chamber kicked fuckin' ass, nobody mentions them anywhere in the other reviews, and they were probably second only to Tool! Mad props to Mikey for blowin' them drums up. A nice big FUCK YOU to the asshole in the yellow STAFF shirt who damn near choked a fan to death... I hope my boot to your skull felt good, asshole. I'm sure that guy didn't pay $30 plus to get strangled nearly to death by a loser like you, I hope you got fucking FIRED :) And what's up with the attitude Limpy's? "For those of you who can't understand us, fuck off?" Nah, fuck you :) Get some original stuff and I'd like ya better. As for Tool, what can I say but perfection...

Review written by: Frank (cschir@juno.com) Review posted on: 08/02/98 15:44:28 This is the fifth time I've seen TOOL, and as usual they were worth the price of the whole damn show. This band gets better every time I see them, and their live show is an experience that is often difficult to put into words. True, they only played for an hour, but an hour each summer is better to me than no TOOL at all! The setlist has already been posted for this show, so I'll get right into it. It was incredible to hear Part of Me and especially Jerk-Off, which went right over most of the crowd's head. Sure everybody knew Stinkfist and Sober, but for me the biggest m oment was hearing Undertow, one of my favorites and a song they don't always play live. Ending with Jerk-Off was brilliant, and I liked the changed lyrics at the end. I could bitch that they only played 8 songs, or that 46 & 2 and Eulogy were left out, b ut what the hell is the point? I envy fans who are catching the band on their own in August - you lucky fuckers! Now for the rest of the show: All you "fans" of heavy music shouldn't be too critical of the rest of the bands. I enjoyed the rest of the show much better than seeing last year's Suckapalooza lineup - except for Korn. Coal Chamber wasn't that bad, altho ugh their sound was muddled, Sevendust rocked, Limp Bizkit wasn't the most original but at least they tried to get the crowd into it, Megadeth was better than I ever thought they could be, Motorhead showed the young bands a thing or two, and even Ozzy and his band rocked. It's a shame radio and EmptyV hardly ever touch these bands. Of course TOOL is the best; they could be booked for Lilith Fair next summer and I would pay to see them. Long love TOOL!!

Review written by: vegas hack (i'm still not that advanced) Review posted on: 08/02/98 15:03:49 well-this was the third tool show i've seen-not counting the rain soaked freeze in Bremerton a few years ago-which my lame ass date made me leave- o.k. so anyway-i got there in time for limp- and they were-mega was o.k. but i really cant hang with that for too long-i would have much rather just seen some freak show like the jim rose thing before Tool-i was a little worried after reading some of the reviews-questioning thier vibe and good intentions and all-thank whatever that they blew all that away-I couldn't have expected anything better than what i got except maybe they could have played a little (say like an hour)longer-the quality was on par with the huntridge show in vegas-2 of the finest hours in my great life-more next time.

Not to be redundant, but crowd was a bunch of walking zombies. 3. Tool's sound was perfect -- crystal clear. 4. Tool should have played longer, as those who attended can attest to.

Review written by: Kim (Leibster@aol.com) Review posted on: 07/31/98 23:21:51 This is just a recap so if you haven't read the other reviews scroll down and do that first... Um, I think Maynard called his cousin Kelly a "he".... lucky boy. I had no idea what "no quarter" was ::shame::... but it was really cool and only used in "special occassions" so I felt priviledged. I also liked the announcement before "Jerk Off" which was something like "this song is about 5 minutes long so that should give you all enough time to take your clothes off and start fucking" TOOL ROCKED! well, yeah... I didn't really watch Limp Bizkit... however, I did enjoy their cover of George Michael's "Faith" since everyone sang along. That's about it.

Review written by: SyMfoNiC (symfonic@yahoo.com) Review posted on: 07/30/98 23:33:25 aiight, here's the deal, i was at the show with jerky so i figure why the hell should i try to tell you what happened tonight all over again....except i would like to stress that limp bizkit is TIRED i wish i had some ice to throw too:> but yah, jerky hit the nail on the head, but here's the setlist in the right order: Part Of Me Stinkfist (w/buzz from Melvins and extended bridge) Undertow (yeeee-uh) H. (dedicated to cousin Kelly....lucky girl:>) Sober No Quarter (hell yeah, even though i was the only one around me who knew the words:> ) Aenema (announced as a song about a new age way of carrying water) Jerk Off (with cool extended bridge fooling everyone) I like after the extended bridge in Stinkfist when they add one extra beat of drums to throw everyone off who jumps up in the air..hehe. Ummmm, Maynard was dressed half blue half red, dont remember if that was mentioned.... and finally, the venue was tired as hell, don't know what happened to coral sky but it is SHITE now:> at least they didnt screw up tools sound. btw- a big f-you to all you people who write in and say the show sucked later:> and if you took I-95 home....... ..... YOU'RE A SUCKER!!!!! -sym

Review written by: JErky666 (beef666@yahoo.com) Review posted on: 07/30/98 23:20:00 Ok.. I held off from reviewing the Orlando show, but boy what a mistake that was. all we get are tired ass people raving about how cool limp bizkit is and how pissed that tool wasnt playing on their own. Well, get over it they were part of a tour, as an opening band.. But enough bitching about yesterday, lets get onto todays show. I got there about 3 PM caught the end of Sevendust, and watched Soulfly who I thouroughly enjoyed (again) they played Refuse/Resist today which was cool. Then, of course, came limp bizkit... tired as always. as far as i can tell same setlist as the day before. although this time he (Fred Durst) ran out into the crowd and was singing in the isle next to me row, which i promptly popped a piece of ice at him favorite quote "We wouldnt be here without korn" no shit, ya sound just like em and play the same damned cover of 'wicked' (ice cube) song they do. anyhow.. megadeth came next, and again played the same set as the day before, with their ultra trebly guitars every solo felt like a shot to the brain... ohwell, they used to be much better, but again im reviewing tool here. :> And now, tool... Maynard came out painted half red and half blue. The setlist went something like this:(hopefully i dont botch the order) Part Of Me Stinkfist (with Buzz from the Melvins, of course)(extended) H (dedicated to his Cousin, who was 3 rows to the side of me) Sober AEnima No Quarter (yes no quarter :>) Jerkoff (with extension) A short, yet powerful set. Maynardisms in short: H dedicated to his cousin No Quarter dedicated to Sharon, Ozzy, and the rest of the tour, and us 'Something special becuase the tour is almost over, we dont play this often so it is special' Other than than, a energetic band as a whole, which is a surprise, cause most bands hate florida.. just as powerful as the orlando show but the band was more active up north... well worth all the money for all you lucky bastards who are seeing them on their own, please enjoy yourself for me!!!‰
