Tool Set Mini-Tour

Dates to coincide with "Lateralus" release

Tool have finally unveiled the four dates and venues of their U.S.
mini-tour. Curiously, the band has chosen to ignore their native Los
Angeles but will be passing through Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit and New
York City in mid-May before heading off to Europe, where they'll
begin a month's worth of gigs on May 25th at Holland's legendary
Dynamo Festival. Tickets for the U.S. shows will go on sale May 5th.
The first stateside gig, May 15th in Atlanta, will coincide with the
release of Lateralus, Tool's first album of new material in five
years. The first single from the disc, "Schism," will hit radio May
6th though fans who log onto www.toolband.com can hear it beginning
May 1st. A video for the track, written and directed by Tool
guitarist Adam Jones, should hit the small screen in the next few
weeks.

Upcoming Tool dates:

5/15: Atlanta, The Tabernacle
5/17: Chicago, The Riviera
5/18: Detroit, State Theater
5/20: New York, Hammerstein Ballroom

Tool to Stream New Single

"Schism" to precede secret shows

Enigmatic prog-metalheads Tool will stream "Schism," the first single
from their forthcoming album, Lateralus, on their Web site
(www.toolband.com) on May 1st, five days before it goes to
radio. "Schism" (lyric sample: "Pure intention juxtaposed will set
two lovers souls in motion"), the group's first official single in
nearly six years, will remain on the site for five days. No word yet
on if the band will release a radio edit of the song, which, in its
album form, clocks in at well over six minutes.
A video shoot for that tune, written and directed by guitarist Adam
Jones, is currently underway in the band's hometown of Los Angeles.
As with all things Tool, the clip's concept has been kept under tight
wraps but sources close to the group describe it as being "eerie"
and "ominous." Jones has previously directed three of his band's
videos ‚- "Stinkfist" and "Aenima" (from 1996's Aenima) and "Prison
Sex" (from 1993's Undertow).

Still no official word on venues or exact dates for the four U.S.
shows Tool promise to play between May 15th (the release date for
Lateralus) and May 21st. All that's known is that the shows will take
place in New York, Atlanta, Detroit and Chicago, possibly at smaller-
than-usual venues. Following the mystery mini-tour, Tool will hop the
pond for a month's worth of European gigs, beginning May 25th at
Holland's Dynamo Festival.

Earlier this week, Tool unveiled cover artwork for the David Bottrill
(Kid Rock, Joni Mitchell) produced Lateralus. The psychedelic
rendering features a skinless man surrounded by a halo of fiery
eyeballs and orange orbs.
